There’s way too much to do this weekend. I have to brew a batch of beer, and bottle another one. Maybe even two. Oh, and all that other piddly shit that makes the weekends go all too quickly.

Hey, Vernon, I even now have the song’s name correct… :fist: A!I!V!
Well based on the conversation on the blog yesterday after I left I have to think that most of us must :bong: :alc: :40: every day or two to erase memory.
Remember that for all practical purposes the SBR is now seen by most of the world as being in the same position as Germany and Japan were in the late 1930s At that time they thought they were invincible and they were DESTROYED
To just continue doing what we have been doing may be a great way to commit suicide. :reaper: :reaper:
:yippee:  Fred
… I just hope other 10-13years old have the time to do “things” that got me started.

Police to use terror laws on Heathrow climate protesters
Government has encouraged use of stop and search and detention without charge
Armed police will use anti-terrorism powers to “deal robustly” with climate change protesters at Heathrow next week, as confrontations threaten to bring major delays to the already overstretched airport.
Up to 1,800 extra officers will be drafted in to prevent an estimated 1,500 people disrupting the airport over the period of the camp for climate change, which is due to begin on Tuesday. The police have been told to use stop and search powers against the protesters, who have pledged to take direct action on August 18 and 19 but not to endanger life.
…
“Should individuals or small groups seek to take action outside of lawful protest they will be dealt with robustly using terrorism powers. This is because the presence of large numbers of protesters at or near the airport will reduce our ability to proactively counter the terrorist act ,” the document says.
The police report makes it clear that the government has encouraged police forces to make greater use of terrorism powers “especially the use of stop and search powers under s44 Terrorism Act 2000”.

😮 😮 Oh dear
The kinds of direct action described yesterday will no longer work.. Now if someone was to do somethinbg to seriously handicap the police .. 😮 :reaper: :reaper:
Breaking out windows is not direct action .. that is vandalism ..
The problem with electing demodorps is that they may actually make us safe and the 4th Reich will exist for a least another four years. :tommygun: :tommygun:
Good Morning :joe:
Fund for animals
This is pretty simple. Please tell ten (or more)
friends to tell ten today! The Animal Rescue Site is
having trouble getting enough people to click on it daily to meet their quota of getting free food
donated every day to abused and neglected animals. It takes less than a minute to go to their site and click on
“feed an animal in need” for free. It’s in a purple box in the middle
of the page. This doesn’t cost you a thing. Their corporate
sponsors/advertisers use the number of daily visits
to donate food to abandoned/neglected animals in exchange for
advertising.
Go for it, Fred. You can be the leader of the violent revolution. I suppose you can take over Colorado, first, and then maybe head west.
— this is what I forced myself to not post 😳 at 5:03am
:tommygun: :pup: :cat: … I just accidently turned on a hunting show on a regular channel and saw a big, beautiful bear … dead ….
I am not amused.
The Bear killed reminds me of the Grand Ol’, Ursa Major the a :jerk: non-real murderer killed whereas this 5’3 &3/4 (I would say 5’3 &1/2 or 5’4″ cuz was easier to deal with) lived alone (at that time) and the Ol’ Bear would eat in the berries near my home. Then to replace the murdered one was a young, Very Angry Bear who ripped even my home up .. but broke my strings to Harp, but NOT the wood frame. :growl: HiiYaa A!I!V!
Did anyone else watch that movie Zeitgeist
I can get copies of it for anyone for $5. Lemme know.
Kristapea, re Fund for animals, 😉
And YES I saw and would LOVE a copy … tell me how, PLEASE …Great Film … would love to have it on in the background in my office area, whilst working. :dancers: :pup:
Ewww…….
CU chancellor Hank Brown Shirt is on C-span :yuck: :yuck:
We’ll have to arrange something, Druid. I have to go to the station to get them, I see no way to get them from Jeff Farias’ web site. I spose you could email him but the station is just a couple of blocks away from me and I was going to get several copies for myself anyways. Email me kristapea55 at yahoo dot com.
That movie is available via P2P..
You can see it online for free but it’s nice to have a copy or 2 to pass around.
so is that zeitgeist movie about the real truth?…does it ultimately provide a real truth? Or is it encouraging people to look into the 9-11 fiasco?
Or is it just encouraging people to look into everything and question authority?
Here is something really cool that som eof you can probably use (Dru)
its core temp a small footprint program that montiors the temp of things on the inside of the ‘puter and tells you if its overheating.
The fact that the reich in the Colorado legislature don’t get rid of Hank Brow shirt is a reflection on their integrity or lack there of .. :reaper: :reaper:
FRED, I just wrote you a wonderful post, 🙄 then this Site went error and then a “doh” AND IT WASN’t Me for once … :yippee:
hmmm, I NEED More :joe: :pirate: :yippee: a!i!v!
–a bit from “lost” post —
…then we “strange” got “bounded” by Marc Maron, and to bind as one “us” Cats and that “if not here then where?” … to me this is a fascinating philosophy on a macrocosm basis as to “how to get along”.
That movie is mostly a reflection that the Bible, the Koran and the Jewish scripture are all stories composed from legends and folktales that were present in the culture for hundreds of centuries before they were transcribed.. and cannot be considered an absolute history of what really happened.
Read some of Bishop Spong’s stuff .. it agrees pretty much with the movie but he doesn’t go back quite that far. 😮 😮
Morning all, lost a house to fire up the street from me early this morning. Looks like it might have taken a firefighter with it.
🙁
Watch it, Melina. It starts with kind of a historical perspective of religion that ties the myths of the world together a la Joseph Campbell and shows how myths are built. Then goes into the myths surrounding 9-11, has a lot of news footage from that day. Then goes into a little history of America and its economic system a la Aaron Russo’s movie “From Freedom to Fascism”. It’s very well made. Everyone I have given it to said they couldn’t turn it off.
I think we need Agitators, if not, most all actions are ignored.
as an ACTIVIST for 40 years ” 40 YEARS” and NOT ENOUGH HAVE SLOWED ENTROPY and now glaciers are breaking apart and Polar Bears are starving, eating each other, and dying due to Global Warming.
I think One needs to be able to SEE and SPEAK TRUE REALITY … then One can do Strategy and keep the “elan” flaming well inside each other.
If nothing else, Fred and I are better than trolls and it is good you are containing “the rage” here than “there” LBH …

Cops on fast react after terror scare
Checkpoints, radiation sensors out after ‘unverified’ threat spooks city
A dirty-bomb scare triggered a huge police response last night, with NYPD choppers, boats and special trucks searching the city for radioactive devices even as police brass assured New Yorkers the threat was not verified.
Deputy Police Commissioner Paul Browne said extra radiological sensors were deployed across the city and vehicle checkpoints were set up. He called the mobilization, which began about 6 p.m., “precautionary.”
Browne stressed the terror threat, picked up on a Jerusalem-based, English-language Web site with links to Israeli intelligence, was uncorroborated. He said the city’s alert status remained at “orange” or high – one step below the highest level of “red” or severe.
But the response was significant. Officials said the alert was for a 50-mile radius around New York.

Canada announces location of Army base/port in Arctic
PM Stephen Harper has announced the location of the military training center in the far north. It will be located at Resolute Bay.
The Deep Water Port will be located at a former mine in Nanisvik on Baffin Island. It would be used to supply arctic patrol vessels.
This training facility will be located in the contested Northwest Passage area.
The Danes are beefing up their claim by sending an ice breaker on a month long expedition to map out the same ridge that the Russians are claiming belongs to them. The Danes feel they have a strong case.
The U.S. has also recently sent out an ice breaker to do some mapping of the arctic floor too.
It should prove interesting how this all works out in the wash.

Note we had no worries before the Russians claimed tne North pole and all there was there was ice .. Maybe in 30 years they will be able to send back a photo of a palm tree.

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, under fire at home with calls for his resignation, is spending some time in Iraq.

The Justice Department said that Gonzales arrived in Baghdad on Saturday for his third trip to Iraq to meet with department officials who have been there to help fashion the country’s legal system.
http://www.boston.com/news/nation/washington/articles/2007/08/11/embattled_ag_gonzales_visits_baghdad/
I suppose this explains the collapse of the Iraqi legal system.
PJSauter, wow .. It was “played” on the air, yesterday, the “final” words of a few firefighters of 9-11. It was also mentioned about a “wall or ceiling” falling… 🙁 :fire: :fist:
Thanks PJ, unfrotunately with these houses the floor joists are laid in the direction of the length of the house and not the width (contrary to code). This was bound to happen sooner or later.
I heard Michelle Malkin last night on CSPAN, I think. I listened only briefly. ( I don’t have a strong stomach.)
She was talking about how the lousy lefties are making comments about reich chickenhawks who support the war but refuse to serve in the army. She, of course, framed it as the left saying that the chickenhawks were not allowed to comment on strategy, etc.
What was pleasing was that the criticism is bothering them, as it should.
Later, I passed Fox Noise and saw her commenting on the economy. She is certainly versatile, considering her lack of info.
Morning/afternoon, all.
I meant to check in sooner but I was too f**in’ stoned to remember anything until the ole googly helped me dismember where most of you were.
an FYI, the usually prolific Brilliant at Breakfast has gone on a vacation and has recruited a number of ‘lower’ tier bloggers to try to maintain her output. You might want to check it out at her link up there on the right under Friends if you need a break from the Revolution.
Nice couple of memorials Thursday and Friday for the revolutionary 49ers coach Bill Walsh, perhaps the best NFL coach in history. At the public ceremony yesterday in Candlestick Stadium, now Bill Walsh Field, the tributes were led by touching speeches by now Mayor Gavin Newsom and former mayor and now Senator Dianne Feinstein. I can remember the 49ers dynasty years like they were yesterday. Something about beer and Wild Turkey and selective memory.
Now the NFL pre-season has begun and hope of a new dynasty springs eternal in the land of Red and Gold. Geaux ‘9ers!
I got to see Barry hit 756 the other night to the deepest part of the stadium. It was sweet, but I have missed the last two monster shots as he increases his record.
Say Hey!
But seriously, there is a press conference soon about the coal miners in Huntington,
WVUT. I don’t have much hope for them and hope that bastard who owns that mine is thoroughly investigated and if he has done wrong as I suspect that he be dealt with to the fullest extent of civil and criminal law.Check out the John Sayles movie Matewan. For extra credit, name the two musical greats in this clip.
Ciao. I’ve got a lot more forgetting to do.
here ya go …

Gonzo is fashioning the Iraqi legal system? That’s kinda like Lindsay Lohan lecturing on sobriety.

Speaking of sobriety, or lack thereof, here’s the latest update. Somehow the song isn’t as funny to me as it used to be.

FYI , & if you see —
I saw Newsoms speach (on tv) but not F…Stein — you know she signed against “any protester”, even those of the goodly religious Plow Shears. I would explain, but whatever, you probably would not agree, it appears, as you said. 🙄
 BUT WOW * Bill Walsh Field * WOW and
…it was just nice to see the name Candlestick
I liked Walsh and got to see the grand ending speech Of Joe Montano’s but I had to endure Steve’s (Young’s) I wish they kept the Qback — yes, everyone will remember, but me — but he had dark hair).
I quit watching the 49’ers after Montano left. I like their colours though: red and gold whereas my colours were cardinal (deep red) and gold and then followed Montano to…red and yellow colours KC(I think) 🙁
I can “remember” also, except “wild turkey” was nowhere near, except rarely for my mother’s and father’s (mostly father’s) and his mother and sister. :rofl2: 😮
RE MARC MARON: Did his wife and him break up?? I thought they were back together? 🙁
I think that was referring to his first wife.
It probably is this wife, MW, if he is talking about it in the performance.
An additional 49ers NFL football note,
In Memory of Bill Walsh, 49ers Will Wear 1980s Cherry Red Throwback Jerseys
It did not take me long to like Steve Young. He had a much better sense of humour. Still does. Like The Genius. He does Toyota commercials that are usually hilarious.
and after the public memorial, Gavin went to Golden Gate Park to make his presidential endorsement sans DiFi.
That’s what I am afraid of. When he was appearing at the last Seattle Show it shounded like they were estranged. Then I thought they were doing better when he was on a later show of Conan’s.
Now this 🙁 Sad Times.

Sorry to ref Politico but I was having trouble finding this, Newt’s Animals, because I know most of us love animals along with our mind rendering intoxicants.
But Newt Gingrich, who has always marched to the beat of his own drummer, has a different hook to draw attention from the Iowa Republicans attending the Ames Straw Poll Saturday.
Animals.
The former speaker will have in tow a baby American alligator, a hedgehog tenrec, a barred owl, a leopard gecko and a bunny.
Gingrich, through his “American Solutions” PAC, is holding six policy workshops at the straw poll. And the one he’s co-hosting, on “Green Conservatism,” will include the above creatures from the zoo in Des Moines.
Hey, you gotta do something to attract folks to a policy discussion on a Saturday afternoon.
:billcat: :sheep: :penguin: :parrot: :bee: :pup: :cat: :sammy:
Good news: Dennis Kucinich is on Snuffelupagus tomorrow morning.
Bad news: It sounds like we’ll probably have to suffer through Sam Brokeback first.
:barf:
Solution: Tape it, go get that haircut I’ve been needing for the last couple of weeks to beat the heat, then watch it when I get home and fast-forward through Brownshit.

And how cool was it in the presidential forum Thursday night when Melissa Etheridge said that she was “told not to fawn over” Kucinich? Man, back in the day before she came out, I would have let her fawn over me anytime. :hubba:
I still haven’t chosen a candidate yet, but as the above two posts demonstrate, I’m starting to lean in a familiar direction.
(Which, of course, would be to the left.)
Kevin, you’re gonna let a little something like that stop you?
vernon ,,, whatever … yes steve is funny but he and his religion is part of the problem … worse than many Christian base ideologies. ONLY Human Rights they focus upon as they have 19 children. …. what about others’ rights? … SOMETHING HAS TO HAPPEN! I only knew me at My Age, when I was 13. I heard numourous youth when on Mike Malloy, since yours and similars views is why in 40 years we have barely been able to move. Now there is Di’s bill “marking “wee folk who are so “sweet” compared to others 😉 and of course ME! — All standing up for the innocence that cannot speak for themselves.
But let’s stand for Di (not) :dancers: of :reaper: A!I!V! Tea :joe: Time
But this time around, I will be a “yellow dog dem” ❗ A!I!V!
Well, sorry I don’t hate people because they are Mormons. Sorry I don’t have an absolute purity standard for politicians and leaders with whom I do not always agree. Sorry my views don’t let you move fast enough wherever it is you are trying to go. Sorry that my ideas of activism and radicalism is not evolved enough to include violence and destruction.
No, really, not so sorry.
Newt could always put a ring in the minority leaders nose and lead him around .. the rest of the thugs would happily follow along .. They would all think they were elephants but they would look to everyone else like a bunch of jackasses :reaper: :reaper: .
vernon:
i have a couple of hilarious mormon stories. my dad’s people were/are mormon, tho he was what’s known as a “jack” mormon (rhymes with black :sheep: ). he liked to drink a lot  — not allowed!
Dear Vernon, you kinda “dumped” on me, first. So I did growl. After I made a nice cup of tea… I was going to back away since I could see this was getting heated. ( too late Morrigan :smack: .) I ONLY Save Lives — with little “damage”. But Brava/Bravo to those that do. Now, forget about me, and you don’t know me — now what of the “GENTLE Christan Plow Shears” — Di just “symbology-wise killed” the Plow Shears and disobedience in general and let alone GREENPEACE, Sea Sheperds, and so many others … Do Tell Vernon, your answer for the future? We had stopped the killing of the Wolves. I/We had to go away. No one continued the intense Vigils
Now “they” are preparing for another slaughter. This is a mere “symbology” as to what is occurring and “what’s going down”.. I have no answers, save what I am working on now
… 🙄 A!I!V! … look how much was done, but look how even further we have to go … 40 years have passed
who is this “di” of whom you speak, druid? feinstein?
how did she destroy plowshares? are we talking about the warrantless wiretap bill?
Roxie 😉 :billcat: :cat:
di-anne feinstein. or whomever I helped put her in office.
I like getting beaten up :slap: seriously, I have been wanting to hear your views as to the direction since a few have been working — and as Einstein (sp) said (to paraphrase) … a mark of insanity is doing something over and over again and expecting a different result. The Earth cannot go through another 40 years.
:fist: A!I!V!
Pearl Jam: What AT&T Didn’t Want You To See
D6, sorry, really, if you thought me saying that I liked Steve Young was dumping on you. I just always felt bad for Steve that he had to survive the gigantic legacy of Joe and reveled in his ultimate success. Of course he was never as great as Montana but was a great HoF QB and a great man as well.
As for dumping, I would say most of us got dumped on at the break of day. As for answers, there are far too many questions to have a simplistic answer. I’ve already stated what isn’t an answer.
Now I have to go meet a friend at a bar and watch some baseball and obliterate some more memory. Today I am going to work on wiping the War of 1812 and the Louisiana Purchase from the tablets of my memory.
roxie, btw, a dear friend is a lapsed Mormon who likes to drink and sing karaoke. The story goes deeper than that but it doesn’t need to be on the tubes.
DiFi-short for Diane Feinstein, who has regrettably always had an authoritarian streak. On the other hand, she also has many positives but that is just my ignorant opinion. Once again, the story goes deeper but whatever. Man sees what he wants to see and disregards the rest.
help, i’m missing a thread here!
as long as i’m here, i have a suggestion for you dru. you love to write/e-mail stuff as part of your activism: if every city and state were to “adopt” a local endangered species (like the state bird, plant, etc) some more success stories like the black-footed ferret might occur. eventually it could be expanded to the state endangered plant, endangered mammal, reptile, amphibian, etc.
school kids could have contests with other cities or states to restore habitat.
get on it will you druid!
so that was all about a baseball player
i thought you guys were arguing about something in the reality based universe!
Roxie re:57 from friday
No, not me (tho I’m vain enough to think I wouldn’t break a mirror) 😳
I was just in the background of a movie I was living full of sixties stereotypes- or maybe that guy was Army Counter-Intel :tinfoil:
As far as the fourth box, I just feel slightly more threatened than I did in the sixties even with all the paranoia happening then. This time there is an unmistakeable massive undertaking by the media acting hand in glove as a complete :jerk: for the future plantation owners to keep us in the dark, full of fear and distracted. Who is going to stand up for all of us while the dems piss away our freedom ❓ :fustrate: :growl:
The Roxie  , I already work on similar campaigns and saving strays and not getting hardly any sleep — but TOTALLY agreeing with all you say…but I need to write several emails for a few my whatever and one is doing a non-profit radio thing, possibly, but gotta at least see. All is culminating and then there is exercise :smack:  A!I!V! Time Stand Still

i’ve written this twice and refreshed w/o posting

nixon was getting camps ready for all of us then, too (McClairren camps or something like that)
one big diff is that all we had in the way of grown ups was the pitifuly small “old left.” whereas now, we are the still huge, old “new left.”
“if you want to take my social security check, you’ll have to pry it out of my cold, dead hand…”
yeah, i know fred, “that can be arranged” but i doubt that shooting a bunch of unarmed senior citizens would prove very popular even with the idiot morons.

Poor Amy. She can’t enjoy her celebrity. 🙁 Hopefully, since she’s talking about suicide she won’t actually do it. It’s almost always a shocker with most people that actually go through with it.
Roxie, I just saw this …
how did she destroy plowshares? are we talking about the warrantless wiretap bill?
I have to look up Bill– it list certain (most) protesters as terrorists…

It’s the husband. Being apart from him tore her up enough to write the songs on Back To Black, but apparently being with him isn’t healthy for her either.
I know love makes people do stupid things sometimes, and I could cite chapter and verse from my own life to illustrate, but it’s really not a good idea to keep your entire sense of happiness and self-worth wrapped up in another person. People should be together because they want to be, not because they psychologically HAVE to be.
Damn, that was WAAAAAY too deep for a Saturday. 😀 Maybe I should go watch South Park and Lil’ Bush that I taped Wednesday night.
kevin M, :rofl2: just funny :rofl2: Hey, I have enough straight women shooting me down to keep my self-esteem destroyed. I don’t need the gay women to help them out.

I just saw Cris Kirkwood at Trader Joe’s. I was hoping I’d run into him after I read that article about him and Curt reforming the Meat Puppets. It was good to see him so positive and he is so happy that he’s playing with his brother again. That guy is so amazing, he should write a book. It would be both funny and tragic.
After months of scandal, firings and some testimony from Gonzales that many on Capitol Hill found wholly unsatisfying, these ex-Justice Department employees are taking a rare step and fighting back.

With Gonzales squarely in its sights, Congress is paying close attention. New nominees to the department are ducking for cover. And the ex-employees are just getting started.
The lawyers claimed their first scalp last weekend, when David Palmer withdrew his nomination to the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Two weeks ago, a group of eight former managers, lawyers and career professionals who worked with Palmer in the employment litigation section of the Civil Rights Division sent a forceful letter to Congress opposing the nomination.

The New York Police Department was reducing its extra security procedures Saturday, a day after an unsubstantiated radiological threat against the nation’s largest city.
The NYPD had increased radiological monitoring and established checkpoints to examine vehicles in lower Manhattan and at other locations around the city Friday night. By noon Saturday, the department was scaling back its efforts on a relatively quiet August weekend, NYPD Deputy Commissioner Paul J. Browne said

Alabama 3 meets Jim Jones, channels Mao on a mystery train
I like that a lot, Vern. Are they American?
Brit, Kp. aka A3. Best known for “Woke Up This Morning”, theme from The Sopranos. If you have a good used store around there you might find their CDs cheap.
The used record stores have all downsized and don’t have as much stuff anymore. 🙁
Alabama 3 always have been cool 8) …. these are the originals correct, V.? Maybe I am “dazed and confused” on a Saturday Night. 🙄 I must be … but I am just impressed someone played the Bodhran. … I have two old time ones, but “weathered” in mountains and tents, so i no longer play.
I know where the next is going to be from … a really Celtic artistically Cool 8)
I need to listen a third time to possibly understand the rest of words re A3.
Ahhh Miss marple is over … although a rerun, RATS ahhhhh A!I!V!

Wow, popular music has splintered into so many genres you can never even hear about music that’s been around for almost 20 years. And I consider myself music literate :smack:
Well, since that didn’t start too much kerfuffle, here some over 20 yr. old “revolution” music
I just looked on Amazon and apparently A3 is coming into its own. Seems like I was just fishing them out of the clearance bins for a buck in the last couple of years.

I can honestly say that I have never seen the Rocky Horror Picture Show (not that there’s anything wrong with it) but I still love this.

I was going to say my dvd is loaned out and a “friend” won’t sing the beginning … then I remember YouTube
I will be laughed at but I CARE NOT (too much)
Oh GOD! I used to work at a theater that did the Rocky Horror Picture Show. I hated it so much! The people were so annoying and obnoxious coming into the theater every week, which I didn’t care too much, but my manager was always trying to push me to do the hard sell on them and they didn’t have any money! Most of them were high school kids who borrowed money from someone to get in. Plus, they left the theater a friggin mess. Ack! :blech:
Oh Gosh, have fun with your fiddle and jugs 🙄 … only want to see in person  :billcat: :rofl2:
but I do like the Dixie Chicks … oooooo
we were “students” and even when I, as a student, worked at a theatre I got into The Play of all that was, as a community college parttime student whom also worked at the PD and then S.O. :rofl2: funny, sometimes I came to work in a Rocky Horror Picture Show costume or others , :rofl2: Mardi Gras :rofl2: in the local S.O. They didn’t seem to mind much, since they even used me out of dance class to go “undercover”. 🙄 :dancers: :nana:
Gosh, I do not seem to have much in common … but I am just playing some of my music … … Bring me to life … Evanescence … No, Led and I.S. :nana:
