Tough day in Iraq yesterday. Well, OK, they’re all pretty tough days in Iraq. But, freedom isn’t free you know. Imagine how bad things would be if this surge wasn’t going so well. Then those Iraqis would really be fucked.

So I step out the door this morning and the humidity PUNCHES ME IN THE FACE like I was Curly taking one in the schnozz from Moe.
:fist:
It’s 95%, already 80 degrees and the sun isn’t even up yet. I feel like the cartoon polar bear in Al Gore’s movie. :hot:

If you think the humidity is bad now just wait 15 years and the ocean will come in to greet you when you open the door. 😮

Most of the IGNORANT MORONS complaining about illegal immigrants say they pay no taxes but require all these social services which cost $$$$,, These tables seem to indicate that about 70% of most western states tax revenues come from sales and property taxes. Since illegal immigrants shop at Walmart and probably pay rent this sees to blow that idea to H*
There is a book called “They Take Our Jobs And 20 Other Myths” by Viva Chomsky that is really good at busting most of those myths about illegal immigration. I’m gonna get it for my mom, she keeps sending me hateful emails about illegals. She was on Jeff Farias’ show a few weeks ago
The problem is that the IGNORANT MORONS get most of their info from Rush Limprick and Sean Handjob or in our case Mike Rosen and Rush Limprick… a citizens group ( footnote see Vigilance committee) needs to get them taken off the air. :yuck:
I knew I was HOME when I saw the word DRAT … DRAT (aka RATS, Bah HumBug, bloody hell, and the rest) :rofl2: .

Some see Murdoch preparing for Journal vs. Times newspaper war
With the Wall Street Journal as the latest addition to his vast media empire, Rupert Murdoch plans to take aim at the New York Times.
“Rupert thinks the Times is vulnerable,” a longtime executive in Murdoch’s News Corp. told the Los Angeles Times. “He’s going to go after them.”

Kucinich: DLC agenda ‘indistinguishable’ from Neoconservative agenda
Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich, a consistent opponent of the war in Iraq, appeared Sunday on ABC’s This Week, telling host George Stephanopoulos, “I think that the support is building in my direction.”
Stephanopoulos suggested instead that the response to Kucinich merely represents the Democratic Party’s “liberal base” and that the “centrists” of the Democratic Leadership Council under Howard Ford believe that Kucinich’s ideas “could hurt the party.”

US spy satellites to be used on Americans
Local and federal agencies are to have vastly expanded access to information gathered from spy satellites in the U.S., the Wall Street Journal reports.
Information from “some of the U.S.’s most powerful intelligence-gathering tools” will soon be at the disposal of a wide array of law enforcement agencies at all levels of government, reports Robert Block in the Journal Wednesday. Director of National Intelligence Michael McConnell decided to increase access to the spy data earlier this year and asked Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff to facilitate access to the spy data by civilian agencies and law enforcement.

I wonder what a modern Orwell would look like these days :reaper: :reaper:
fred:
previousl to reading this, i was unhappy that harold ford lost his race, especially the means the rethugs used (remember the ad “harold, call me…”).
but after reading this:
“the “centrists” of the Democratic Leadership Council under Howard Ford believe that Kucinich’s ideas “could hurt the party.”
Stephanopoulos quoted Ford as saying, “‘George W. Bush is handing us Democrats our Hoover moment'” and told Kucinich, “They believe that if the party follows your path, they’re going to blow this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
—
how incedibly cynical and heartless. i’d rather do without another great depression, thank you very much or whatever other horrors ford has in mind. how is this different than rove’s plans to have a fifty-year rule by republicans? how is this different than the neo-cons?
(ABC News) Exclusive: U.S. Studying Two Dozen ‘Clusters’ of Possible Homegrown Terrorists
U.S. law enforcement officials say they have identified more than two dozen “clusters” of young Muslim men in the northeast United States who are on a path that could lead to homegrown terror, ABC News has learned.
“Any one of those clusters may be capable of carrying out a terrorist action that will result in fatalities,” Rand Corporation terrorism expert Brian Jenkins tells ABC News.

All the politicians see is politics, politics and more politics in all its gory forms .. the dead body’s they have left behind in foreign lands as well as home by their IDIOTIC policies be damed. .. it is time for them to go.. ( insert emo of mushroom cloud here) :reaper: :reaper:
You all know what a DLCer I am :rofl2: . While I don’t recommend this for the faint of heart, Ford on Hannity with equally disgusting Bob Beckel in the Colmes chair and Laura Ingraham. Amazingly, Laura was the one who came out sounding best.
more on harold ford:
“We believe in equal opportunity, not equal outcomes. We believe in
responsibilities as well as rights, and in every citizen’s duty to give their country something back.” Translation: Affirmative action is dead. Civil rights demands are dead. Shut up, black America.
“But the challenge of our party and throughout our history has always been not to blame, not to point fingers. . .” Translation: We won’t fight Bush.
“Every crisis shouldn’t come down to a choice between unilateral U.S. action or a United Nations that doesn’t have the strength or coherence to intervene. If an expanded and reformed United Nations Security Council can’t or won’t do the job, we’ll have to look for another forum, such as a worldwide democracy coalition.”
Translation: To hell with the rest of the world and international law. To hell with the U.N. itself. The DLC is fully in favor of maintaining the expansion of the American empire.
“Government should be responsible for making sure everyone can afford health care; people should be responsible for making sure their families are covered; and the health care system responsible for delivering affordable and reliable results.”
Translation: The DLC is opposed to a government single payer health care system and will work to defeat it if it is proposed.
“And even though the deep fiscal hole this administration has dug will make it harder to strengthen Social Security and Medicare for the long term, we owe it to ourselves to be honest about this debate. We owe it to our children to be candid and frank about the real choices before us, even if it means making some in our own party uncomfortable as we talk about it.”
Translation: Social Security is history. We will allow it to be privatized.
“Ford’s allegiance to the right wing of the Democratic party bodes ill for black politics and all progressive politics.”

Vernon, I haven’t gotten the nerve yet to “hit” link — YET —
(We Come From The Land Of The Ice And Snow…)AhAh A!I!V!
Ford is embarassing and discrediting himself. The fact that he is a paid Faux t-head does not help his cause. Fact is Ford is going to disappear like many old school establishment DLC-style pols like Beckel and Shrum and even Carville who are anachronisms now. Kos and Dean get it. They also understand that in some places there may be candidates like Webb who might not always pass the smell test of the purists but that is just the nature of system.
Anyone know where Stephie runs later on tape?
You’d think that Ford would maybe notice that he friggin’ lost, before he gave anybody else advice on how to run. Creepy bastid.
BTW, Roxie, — fluff talk was not to weaken in any way with what you were saying regarding :yuck: Ford.
Petraeus’ September Report Will Be Written By The White House
Despite Bush’s repeated statements that the report will reflect evaluations by Petraeus and Ryan Crocker, the U.S. ambassador to Iraq, administration officials said it would actually be written by the White House, with inputs from officials throughout the government.

Ahmadinejad To Join Chinese, Russian Leaders For Regional Security Summit
BISHKEK, Kyrgyzstan: Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad arrived Wednesday in Kyrgyzstan to join the leaders of Russia and China for a summit of a regional group seen as a platform for countering U.S. interests in strategic, energy-rich Central Asia.
The United States, which maintains an air base in the host country, is keeping a close eye on Thursday’s gathering of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which also includes four ex-Soviet republics in Central Asia.
The SCO emerged 11 years ago to address religious extremism and border security issues in Central Asia. China and Russia have been pushing for strengthening the group since the U.S. military set up air bases in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks to support the anti-terror campaign in nearby Afghanistan.
In recent years, with Iran, India, Pakistan and Mongolia signing on as observers, the group has been emerging as potentially a broader and more powerful bloc aimed at resisting U.S. domination in world affairs. Ahmadinejad is attending the annual summit for the second year in a row

The DLC demodorps and LIEberman are really moderate to slightly left of Reich Republicans by there affiliation with certain $$$$ interests. so when they lose or have there position exposed they transform into DINOs
:gate: :omg: :jason: :jason: :fist:
In many places the so called dems have had to affiliate with the big $$$ interests to raise the $$$$ necessary to run for office. The $$$ interests are often common between the dems and the thugs so there is really no difference between Rethugs and Dems.. They count on the voters to be IDIOT MORONs and not bother so see what is going on. In Colorado it is impossible as far as i can see to get a real peoples party back without performing major surgery. :gate: :omg: :jason: :jason: :fist:
At out local “dem” party caucus the two ladies than think they are in charge are apt to have any dissenters arrested and removed from the room its so bad .. The IDIOT MORONS just say “that’s the way it is you should have known better”.. These naive solutions proposed by people like Hartman and Flanders just plain don’t work when there is a powerful party machine running things. :gate: :omg: :jason: :jason: :fist:

Fred, I still think “flooding” or “burying” or “blowing” them out of the way or *poof* they are gone. Even I may be on a few County Boards — one does not have to Run … But I think you, Fred, see things on a national level … we can join together (I only have CA info) and use the POWER of a Think Tank…. and we should start MANY … But I am seeing about non-profit stations and starting start-ups here … doing letters and and mmmore … that’s why I can’t write — BUT FRED Sadly yes, that is how my local DEMS ARE. I might be meeting with Young Dems to deluge the local one here……. or go get into non-paying Board ( ) Job, then when you go to local they will  (giggle)
BUT Think Tank w/ Power tis 8) also … :fist: A!I!V! Ah Ah
IDEAS 💡 ? (I Quit everything I was on and local committees because I found their actions invalid to the cause of DEMS LIKE ME! — and I just wanted to bring more OUTReaching to DEMS that were not part of the “flock”.)

Re 35, I so agree … the balance must be a TRUE ONE.
There are many to the LEFT of me and I would put me near the other balance to the Christian E’s/Rethug. Now take those to the Left of me OR START with me and the Christian E./rethugs … Now seek the balance.
LieBerMan is on the rethug Christian R. (hmmmm but I am ambidextrous…)(eek 😮 I am so “dazed and confused” ) But I know I want the rethug’s on probation for at least 3 years thus after they are “controlled” *poof * . I have to get to work and brew

Tropical Storm Erin heads for Texas By LYNN BREZOSKY, Associated Press Writer
11 minutes ago
HARLINGEN, Texas – Tropical Storm Erin formed Wednesday in the Gulf of Mexico and headed toward Texas, threatening to bring downpours to a state that already has had one of its rainiest summers on record.
Gov. Rick Perry ordered emergency vehicles and personnel, including National Guard troops, to the Harlingen and Corpus Christi areas. (more…see above)

Merrie Marc Maron Day
(Vernon Named)
I think it was the Ides of Marc(h) a few months ago but this is the day many years ago when my baseball career ended and my family left the West Virginia homeland the same day Dick Biondi was going to have a hop :dancers: . If we had never left I think that I have ended up in politics.
Well, this probably wasn’t the Richmond that we moved to but any time I can get Ronnie out here somewhere is a good day. :gate:
The 15s always seem to have some significance.
Hey Roxie, I mentioned the Big Wheel as one of the dangerous toys that I never got and not because my mother was safety conscience  This is a woman who used to tell us to go play in traffic and would allow us to stand in the back of her lil red Pinto as we tooled around town. I wonder how many parents ran over their kids on big wheels or those green machines because they were too low to see. That was a fun topic. I totally forgot about Klik Klaks and the laser gun that was sparky. Then someone mentioned the stp toy that you pulled the plastic doo hicky and zoom it went. We had Evil Knieval ones. :pup:
Hey! Sunshine Jim! Good to read ya! :boobs:
Maybe we need to form truth squads. It’s apparent that the right has deception squads.
Thomas who?
Holy Crap, I am really tripped out right now :omg: I’m watching this show about the 60’s on PBS and Governor Reagan is battling students along with S.I. Hayakawa the colleges president at the time. My first experience with S.I. Hayakawa was a book he’d written that was used in an elective course I took my senior year in High school, Language in Thought and Action. That was the book for the class. It was an english course and I really clicked with the book, “the map is not the territory” kind of stuff. It really was one of the first books that tickled my intellect. I loved the book so much that the next year when I was in college, I went back to my high school and bought the book from the book store there. And now I’m watching this documentary and rooting for the hippies and all of a sudden one of my early influences is on the enemies side! :smack: 😯 🙁
Lovely, a shot of John Kerry with guts…..way back when. :jerk:
yeah, kp, the whole thing with hayakawa was pretty wierd.
how somebody that innovative in their thinking can be so authoritarian in practice — maybe it was the “tam” or beret or whatever the he wore on his pointy little head?
