So,what do these idiots have in store for us today? As usual, let’s start with NBC’s Press the Meat, and it’s meat (and potato) headed host, Timmuh Russert. Today little Russ boasts an exclusive with Lance “Cyclops” Armstrong, who will tell us that when hoisting your crotch onto one of those hard little bicycle seats (aka, “buttplug”) for hours upon hours every day, it aint too good for your nuts. Plus, it’s John Warner, who bravely came out this week, bent over, and asked dubya to just stick it in a little bit. Then there’s a roundtable with pretty boy Richard Engle, Fiasco author and WaPost military correspondent, Tom Ricks, and Bush apologist Michael Gordon from the NY Times.
Over at CBS, there might actually be something worth watching on Faze the Nation today, as bush buddy Bobby Schieffer hosts John and Elizabeth Edwards. Hopefully we’ll hear about more than a $400 haircut (like why a rich guy paying that much for a haircut is obscene, but a couple hundred thousand dollars – if not more – for treating breast cancer makes our healthcare system the “best in the world”).
On Fox News Sunday, Weaselface Wallace hosts Mitch “the prick” McConnell, Jack Reed, and Mike “Huckleberry Huckabee (who, it turns out, just loves the Clintons). Then we’ll be blessed with the marvelous opinions of the truly demented Bill Kristol, Gloria “Victor” Borger, of US News, the relatively insane Byron York of the National Review, Fox’s token minority, Juan Williams. And then there’s Nancy Brinker, who has raised millions of dollars for the medical/pharmaceutical industrial complex, in the name of breast cancer research.
Over on the Goebbels network, we’ll have to do without George Snufalufagus, but ABC news putz Terry Moran will be on hand to ask Jim Webb about how right-on dubya was to compare Vietnam to Iraq (except dubya has actually been to Iraq, albeit just to deliver a plastic turkey). Also on hand will be Krazy John Cornyn of Texas. Then it’s former Treasury Secretary Larry Summers (who, as President of Harvard, more or less said that there weren’t as many women in fields like engineering, because women just aint too bright). It’s two-thirds of the axis of drivel at the roundtable, with George :jerk: Will, Cokie “the hag” Roberts, and Fareed “token” Zakaria. Finally, GMA co-twit Robin Roberts talks about the Pink Heart Funds.
About the only thing worth watching on Wolf Blitzer’s Late Emission is Max Cleland, who will be on with Former Iraqi Prime Minister Ayad Allawi, Bill Richardson, Sam Bareback Brownback, Lt. Gen. Raymond Odierno, (#2 Army dude in Iraq), and the usual assortment of CNN hacks.
Morley Safer, on Dr. Anna Pou, who was accused of murdering four patients in New Orleans after Katrina (the Grand Jury just recently refused to indict her), then Scott Pelley runs a story on the big “fuck you” we’re giving to the Iraqis who have put their lives in danger by collaborating with the US, and Leley Stahl reports on MIT Prof. Nicholas Negroponte’s dream of putting a laptop computer into the hands of every child in the world.
Sammy’s off fishing this week, but his “Not-for-Summer Reading Show” should be better than anything you’ll see on the teevee, as he airs taped interviews with Daniel Brook, Glenn Greenwald, Dave Zirin, Linda Perlstein, Jeffrey Feldman, Juan Cole, and John Abramson.
Enjoy your Sunday, everybody. And Happy Birthday, KP! :cake: I wish I could be at your pool party.
Good morning. :joe: :joe: I see everyone is busy primping for KP’s party. Have fun Kristapea.
Good Morning :joe: So, I was futzing around with lighting last night and pushed the little reset button on the outlet by the pool pump and the pool light came on. :pup: I looked all over for the switch to that thing and then gave it up for a burnt out bulb. Cool!
:cake: KP Duty :yippee: Jumped in any pools yet? :yippee:
t :joe: Cheers …. but NOT with ANY STORMS :omg: (didn’t read of storms eek)
:pirate: :yippee: Sue P IS ALPHA, is #1 :yippee: :pirate:
You Go Girl ❗ :dancers:
Only four posts so far? Everyone must be getting ready for the pool party.
But we have to get out of the pool and gather around the TV at 7 PM. NBC has brought Keith Olbermann up to the big leagues for an hour of Countdown tonight at 7 PM Eastern, prior to their NFL pre-season game, so I’m guessing it will probably air after the game out West.
Alison Stewart :hubba: filled in for Olbermann on MSNBC most of last week, so Keith should be raring to go. I would suspect he’ll want to discuss how Iraq is just like Vietnam.
(The difference, of course, is that Bush had a plan to get out of Vietnam.)
Happy birthday Krista, and keep them coming.
:40: :40: :40: :40: :40: :40: :40:
And after KO, we get to see Donovan McNabb for a half.
Olbermann looks to be on in the 10 PM slot after Dateline in the West. Maher is back also.
re 5 & 7 8) Cool…A!I!V!
Are we really this fucking nuts in this country?

D.C. whispers: Chertoff may replace Gonzales
Might there be some trading up at the Justice Department? According to U.S. News and World Report, “buzz among top Bushies is that beleaguered Attorney General Alberto Gonzales finally plans to depart and will be replaced by Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff.”
Officials claim the Chertoff is a likely candidate because he has little connection to the Justice prosecutor scandal, has friends on Capitol Hill, and is experienced, having served as a federal judge and assistant attorney general.

One again proof positive that the solid waste plant model is a perfect fit for the rethugs. :yuck: :yuck: :yuck:
If Gonzalez steps down, won’t Chertoff have to go through a confirmation hearing? Or is Bush planning another interim appointment.
If there are hearings, the Dems may wish to extract promises about investigations of the Justice Dept. Of course that presupposes that the Dems grow a spine. :rofl2: Another interim appointment would also cause a ruckus, particularly for the Rethug prez candidates.

There would have to be two confirmation hearings, one for Chertoff as AG and another for his proposed replacement at HS. Both would give the Dems ample opportunity to rehash the lack of progress in New Orleans since Katrina if they chose to do so.
I also read speculation that there might be a deal in the works with Dem “leadership”
:rofl2:
to ease the move for Chertoff, and one of the Dem stipulations is no interim appointments, which would explain why we haven’t seen any.
Pelosi and Reid really need to stop playing nice with the White House, based on the lameness of the “deal” they struck with FISA. And someone better be prosecuting the hell out of Gonzo once the move is made.
:fist:
Or we could just drag Gonzo into Krista’s pool and hold his head underwater until he tells us where the bodies are buried. That might actually be more fun.
We’d have to filter the water after Gonzo left the pool, of course. 😀

Performances to choose from at Edinburgh’s Fringe Fest. Cultural correspondent Fiona Chutney came to the rescue, sort of. (Chutney is the creation of actress Iris Bahr, who is in Edinburgh performing her one-woman show Dai: (Enough).)

“iris bahr as fiona chutney on studio 360 reporting from edinborough fringe:”
loved it!
I like Jon Elliott, too. I guess that means he’s doomed.
Elliott loses two of his three hours here on the Quake (soon to be Green 960) as a weekend infomercial get an hour daily and the lame local ‘news’ show doubles up to two hours. Motivations are questionable.
Now it will Press and Stephie and Hartmann live, them FatHeaddie on tape, the ‘green’ show and local ‘news’ live followed by Ranti on tape bumping Malloy to tape after Maddow on tape and one hour of Elliott. I now listen to the first hour of Stephie and that is about it. Weekends are an undecipherable hodgepodge of infomercials and pay for play shows and maybe some partila AAR stuff. It is now even worse than AAR.
Fats’ house in NOLa is looking good. He’ll be returning soon.
