To those of you out there who labor, have labored, or may, some day, go in to labor, I wish you a happy Labor Day. Of course, this is also a bit of a sad day, as we bid a fond farewell to summer. Not that summer is officially over, of course, but pretty much, this is it. Even worse, I don’t get another day off until Columbus Day. Yeah, I know, Columbus was a scumbag, but a day off is a day off. Though, really, honoring Columbus in this country would be kinda like having a George Bush Day in Baghdad. Anyhow, enjoy this last holiday of the summer.

Looks like W made a “surprise” stop in the Sand Box on his way to Australia. Wonder if he brought a plastic turkey.
I’m thinking bad thoughts related to the recent missile mishap with the Congress Critters recently. I must not think bad thoughts about Der Fuehrer.
Oh, the internal struggle :slap:
Well, I better go buy some Imodium for the :cat: and hope it helps slow down her diarrhea. :barf:
Have a nice day everyone  :knit:
Good morning. :joe: :joe:
It is the end of my summer vacation. Ugh! I guess I’ll have to start looking forward to nest summer.
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has sought to justify his confidence the United States will not attack Iran, saying the proof comes from his mathematical skills as an engineer and faith in God, the press reported on Monday.
Ahmadinejad told academics in a speech that elements inside Iran were pressing for compromise in the nuclear standoff with the West over fears the United States could launch a military strike.
“In some discussions I told them ‘I am an engineer and I am examining the issue. They do not dare wage war against us and I base this on a double proof’,” he said in the speech on Sunday, reported by the reformist Etemad Melli and Kargozaran newspapers.
“I tell them: ‘I am an engineer and I am a master in calculation and tabulation.

Sounds as if Iran has the same problem we have: delusional decider as dear leader.

then go educate the Needed Future. 😉 . the reason why I am “so romantic, so charmed about your teaching”…is not only I was always aware of very good teachers, but I have seen the bad. I believe in speaking the truth…My mother-in-law is the least challenging and pedestrian , teacher I have EVER seen.
She was in the L.A. District and luckily she now is retired just recently. I felt so bad for her students, but hopefully the students will have better ones in the future. Anyway, enough of “mush”. 😉

A Story About Government Malware – The Federal Trojan
Amidst all the various reports, rumors and court decisions, one thing remains clear: the uncertainty as to whether the state is allowed access to our computers connected to the Internet and especially whether this is even possible. Uncertainty has also been created by the statements of some security software manufacturers saying that, in case of doubt, they are prepared to cooperate with government departments. Of course, one cannot easily gain full access to a computer. To do this, either a suitable security hole allowing smuggling of a spy program must exist on the target system, or the spy software must be manually installed online or offline. This spy program then records the relevant data and sends it to the person spying.
What a lucky dumb ass!
Sue, thanks for the Rudy pix on Sunday’s thread. I’ll print a couple of them at work this week assuming that I can stop :barf: when I look at them.
It’s been raining here all weekend, but I did finally start working out again. Did Pilates Sat & Sun and will try for later today. I’m not crazy about it, but need something to counteract the effects of :40: and I do actually feel better by the time I get to the end. I’m keeping the blinds closed to give my neighbors a break – it’s kinda like when sausage is being made. You don’t want to see the process.
I’m at work here on Labor Day – and I was on the skeleton crew this past Friday as well. At least I’m fed, but there were waaaaay too many peppercorns on the seared tuna.

A little story about Ocean Grove, NJ a town that inspired the hellhole I grew up in.
Stahnke said he doesn’t know what happened between when he left the bar and when he woke up the next morning, and police were skeptical when he filed a report on Monday.
He did, however, have a vague memory of some guy in a suit standing next to him in a wide stance, tapping his foot.
:rofl2:
Kevin, I’m glad you found the Rudy pix of some use. I do understand your nausea.
I think the video of Trump nuzzling Rudy should give the Rethugs some pause, considering their penchant for gay sex scandals.

We’re back in Brooklyn. Summer is truly over. Well, in truth, I have one more day before the term begins and to be quite honest, I work a lot less hard than the poor souls whose paycheck comes from the NYC Bd. of Ed. But, I have taken my cue from PJ, and I’m going to complain anyway.
Druid, thanks for all those nice thoughts. They are appreciated.
President Bush and his national security team made a first-hand assessment of the war in Iraq and prospects for political reconciliation Monday before a showdown with Congress over the U.S. troop buildup.
The temperature topped 110 degrees as Bush stepped off Air Force One. The president stopped at a small building where a Marine Cobra pilot briefed him about the positives and negatives of current troop rotations. He told the president that troops were not getting enough time at home and did not have enough time for training.

Hmmmm… This is very interesting:
The Chinese military hacked into a Pentagon computer network earlier this year in the most successful cyber attack ever on the US defence department, according to US officials.
snip
Angela Merkel, Germany’s chancellor, raised reports of Chinese infiltration of German government computers with China’s premier, Wen Jiabao, in a recent visit to Beijing, after which the Chinese foreign ministry said the government opposed and forbade â€any criminal acts undermining computer systems, including hackingâ€.

The neocons have claimed, with some accuracy, that they can create reality faster than we can react: the deed is done, now deal with it. The troops have invaded, Halliburton, Blackwater, and Lockheed signed their contracts, the prisoners are tortured, your email is bugged, the resources for social programs are gone, the laws are changed, the Wal-Mart is built, the sludge dump has already polluted the aquifer, truth is hollowed out — catch me if you can!
How is that not conspiracy?
The cooks & the crooks create a new status quo, legalize it, propagandize it, mythologize it, fundamentalize it, slather it with fear and patriotism, and force feed it to the complacent, sedated cow we call America.

Well, I hope everybody’s been out having fun today.
OK, this is bad. Not only are all you guys out carousing and celebrating Labor Day, while I am here, alone, talking to myself, but the silence was broken by a phone call from MY BOSS, talking about this year’s schedule.
Oh, woe is me (I) :knit2:
You need caller id Sue. You don’t have to talk to your boss on LABOR DAY!
It should be illegal for your boss to call you on Labor Day – or anytime else that you’re not getting paid for.
That sucks Sue.
