Six years ago. Amazing, isn’t it? I dunno about you, but it seems like a hell of a lot longer ago to me. It’s at least three lifetimes ago. There are things that happen in life, where you realize how fortunate and lucky you were to have the right person in the right place at the right time. Needless to say, September 11, 2001 was not one of those time. In fact, you could pretty easily argue that we had the absolute worst person (people) running the show on that day. And it’s gotten nothing but worse since.
Speaking of which, I caught a little of the Petraeus dog and pony show on the radio while I was in the car yesterday. I just can’t be bothered with his bullshit, or the bullshit niceties of our elected “representatives.” The Republicans don’t give a flying fuck about anything but protecting themselves and what’s left of their preznit. The Democrats, well, I don’t know what they give a shit about. Some are more weaselly than others, I guess. But even those that talk a good game aren’t willing to do what it takes to put an end to this shit. In the end, they’ll just cave in to whatever Bush wants. I’ll be damned if I know why, but, well, that seems to be the way it is. I hate to be a buzzkill, but, frankly, I’m kinda thinking this whole Iran thing is what’s gonna be the end of everything. I just don’t see anything but the worst coming out of all this.
Somebody hurry up and dial the gate – it’s time to get outta here.
i hereby renounce my liberalism story to follow later if i can bring myself to write it……
They hate us for our freedom.
I got in the cab this morning (it arrived 30 minutes late and I had to chase it down, don’t ask) and the driver asked me what I was doing six years ago. Not as politically informed as I am now, that’s for sure.
Also not listening to MS. Kinda like now. Except now I can go back and listen to bits and pieces of it.
And I vaguely remember having more civil liberties back then than I do now.
I’m going to see No End In Sight tomorrow. I think I’ve been approved to take the day off, but at this point I almost don’t give a damn.
Hey Rudy, happy 9/11. Go ahead and celebrate, you fucking ghoul.

And, really, all due respect to the victims (those that died, and those rescue workers and others that continue to suffer and die to this day) and their families, but how can this country continue to play the martyr, after all the needless death and destruction we’ve wrought?
Yes, the attacks and the loss of 3,000 American lives was a tragedy, but isn’t it rather pompous to continue on about “poor us” (particularly those of us who were nowhere near the towers or the Pentagon, who didn’t have our lives directly affected by the attacks – except for having to take our shoes off at the airport – and haven’t lost any loved ones; sorry, watching the planes hit the towers over and over again on the teevee doesn’t count), while some 600,000 (give or take; if you have numbers you like better, use them) Iraqi civilians have died thanks to the US invasion and occupation, and hundreds of thousands more have had their lives shattered, and continue to suffer, with no hope in sight, as US corporations scurry to make huge profits?
And that doesn’t even take into account our own self-inflicted losses approaching 4,000 killed, and tens of thousands wounded.
Instead of crying over how awful the attacks were, and how scary the terrorists are, it would be nice if we had a leader in this country determined to make sure it would never happen again. Instead, we have a bunch of arrogant, ignorant, immoral cowards poking a hornet’s nest with a stick, and bragging that they haven’t been stung yet.
Good Morning :joe:
Repugs are good at playing the victim when it suits them. It sure would suck to have known someone in that tragedy because the media sure loves to ream the whole thing down our throats. I’d probably take the day off and hide in my house with no tv or radio playing the whole day or even the whole week. The media really knows how to make things tiresome.

Goyette has Peter Shiff on who is talking about the economy and the housing bubble. Very timely for me because my landlord has just asked me if I want to buy this house. I love this house, it’s absolutely perfect for my needs. But this guy I’m renting from paid waaaaaay too much for this place. He’s one of the people caught with an ARM in the cookie cutter jar. :rofl2: I don’t think it’s quite time to buy yet. Personally, I’m not ready and I don’t think the people stuck in these loans are desperate enough yet.
I guess this is a best of show, don’t call in. I almost did 😳
Anybody surprised at this????–

Emanuel said Pelosi and other top Democrats have not begun key consultations with lawmakers yet — and he was unsure when they would.
House Democratic leaders have decided to postpone a vote on a criminal contempt resolution against White House chief of staff Joshua Bolten and former White House counsel Harriet Miers for several weeks, and possibly longer, according to top lawmakers and aides.
The decision delays any constitutional showdown, at least for the moment, between Congress and President Bush over the extent of executive privilege and the president’s ability to fend off congressional investigations.
But the slowdown, approved by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) and her top lieutenants, is also stirring objections among Democrats.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers Jr. (D-Mich.) said he is uncomfortable with the delay and worries the House will be seen as toothless unless it moves quickly to hold top officials in contempt for failing to provide documents and testimony in congressional probes.
The House Judiciary Committee approved contempt citations against Bolten and Miers on July 25, after the two failed to comply with subpoenas as part of the committee’s investigation into the sacking of nine U.S. attorneys.
Bush declared that documents and testimony related to the scandal are covered by executive privilege, while Democrats argue that the White House must release the information or be in violation of the law.
The White House has instructed the U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia, Jeffrey Taylor, not to enforce the contempt citations if approved by Congress.
That would force Democratic leaders to either go to court to enforce them or use the power of “inherent contempt†to hold congressional hearings on the matter, with the threat of imprisonment against noncompliant witnesses.
Democrats had vowed to take up the issue when Congress returned from its August break, with Democratic leaders declaring that any failure to do so would undermine the ability of Congress to conduct its constitutionally mandated oversight role.
“Congress will act to preserve and protect our criminal justice system and to ensure appropriate congressional oversight in all areas essential to the well-being of the American people,†Pelosi said back then.
But Pelosi decided to delay a vote until at least late September, and possibly into October. Democrats said they are not yet ready for such a vote because they have not briefed lawmakers on what it would mean and how the controversy would play out, both legally and politically.

She (the person answering phones) feigned innocence (WTF — an office with that power and position). I said if she can’t speak for Pelosi, then get My/The DEMOCRAT SENATOR, since her views are spoken in article, then leave a statement of Pelosi’s views, so one (I) can leave an opinion.
They have not received ANY CALLS save mine. (2 now) PLEASE CALL.
I’m reminded that sometime today one should reflect on the deaths on 911 and then think about ..
The 3.5 million North Vietnamese that we killed while protecting the world from the domino effect of communism ( and protecting Goodyear’s rubber supply)
The million or so Cuban children that have died due to our trade embargo imposed so that the Cuban capitalists in Florida will vote for what ever party supports that plan.
The quarter million people in Central America that died or were disappeared while communism was being suppressed ( and the United Fruit Companies investment was being protected) in Nicaragua, Honduras, and Guatemala by School of the Americas trained troops with SBR advisers.
The hundreds of thousands of people in Chili that were killed or disappeared by our puppet dictator to protect them from communism ( and to protect the SBR copper industry’s investment)
The several million Iraqi’s that died between 1991 and 2003 from disease caused by our trade embargo and the destruction of their infrastructure during the 1991 war.
The several hundred thousand Mexicans who die from malnutrition each yer because our trade policies make subsistence farming impossible.
The several million people world wide that die each year at the hands of other SBR sponsored puppet dictators put in power to protect the investment of a hand full of SBR corporations
But remember they hate us because of our freedoms.. :yuck: :barf: :fustrate: :fustrate:
Remember Druid that our house and senate is like a gigantic bowl of jello that detects public agitation and begins quivering and shaking making it appear like lots of things are going to happen then once football season gets going and the fall recess is over they go back to the way it was before with no action at all being taken..

He knew his colors and shapes, he learned more than 100 English words, and with his own brand of one-liners he established himself in television shows, scientific reports and news articles as perhaps the world’s most famous talking bird.
But last week Alex, an African gray parrot, died, apparently of natural causes, said Dr. Irene Pepperberg, a comparative psychologist at Brandeis University and Harvard who studied and worked with the parrot for most of his life and published reports of his progress in scientific journals. The parrot was 31.

Tomorrow Dennis Kucinich for all three hours of the Fat Headdie program ❗
Interesting Krugman interview on KALW’s Your Call now. I think you can also find a podcast there.
Paul K. use to be, in my eyes a conservative DEM… that is why only read Molly I. and no one has taken her place, except Paul moved more to the LEFT like Molly. (I know, she was nice and polite, like a “proper” southern gal — but we “northern’rs”… ) … just in My :growl: Op(inion)A!I!
Does Dennis K. know the “strategies” of war and the minds of soldiers? Does he even know the mental and physical “games” of the different minds involved? I think not.
just my opinion , but whatever….. Al Gore in ’08, c-ya *poof*
This has really gotta piss Billo off.
Not a Kucinich endorsement at all, just an FYI. I think he’s a flake playing to the gallery but folks seem to love him so there you go. Hopefully he won’t be the new Nader.
Krugman, on the other hand, is pretty special. A smart voice in a good position. He’s got the Molly. He’s has a new book so there will probably be more face/voice time for him in the next few months. Great news!
Thank You Vernon … I was just coming back to say I would check back in case of a much needed debate :rofl2: LBH, yet now I will have to read his book …
I did not not even think of YouTubes to look for Molly … when done working on “stuff” I know where I will “dissappear”. Again, Thank You. :fist: A!I!V!

Okay, this is the guy that was on Goyette’s show this morning. I was thinking all this back in 1999 when I was going through the hell of buying my first house(dome) and I don’t even know anything about real eastate. I was watching this Phx market inflate like a hot air ballon and thinking “how can people keep affording these ever higher home prices when wages aren’t moving??” :smack:

Dear Friends,
For four years, Sudan’s military dictator, General Omar Bashir, has organized brutal militias to murder over 200,000 of his own citizens in the region of Darfur, all because a few of them dared to oppose his rule. After a massive global outcry, the killing has decreased and the UN is deploying peacekeepers – but what peace will they have to keep? Our leaders can seize this chance to press for the fair and lasting peace that the people of Darfur want, or they can appease Bashir, seek peace on the cheap, and abandon millions of Sudanese to the whims of a genocidal regime.
Next Friday, UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon will convene the “Darfur Contact Group” of 17 leaders to help set the agenda for Darfur’s peace talks. This is our best hope yet for voices to triumph over violence. Sign the petition below, forward it to friends and demand that the Contact Group deploy high-level diplomatic teams to the region to secure a fair and lasting peace for the people of Darfur. The petition will be delivered to UN representatives in New York at a huge rally organized by Avaaz and other Darfur activists:
http://www.avaaz.org/en/darfur
The mass killing in Darfur is a stain on the conscience of the world. Avaaz is built on the principle that every human life is of equal worth. That principle calls each one of us to act now to stand with the people of Darfur, and demand that our governments help them bring a final end to their long nightmare.
With hope,
Ricken, Ben, Milena, Tom and the rest of the Avaaz Team
