So, doesn’t sound like the Petraeus show went over all that well. Not that it’ll really matter in the long run. And now Bush is set to out maneuver the Democrats by making some token troop reductions. Mission Re-accomplished and all that. In the meantime, plans for bombing Iran are in the works. I just hope they hold off on Armageddon until I get some vacation time.

❓ ❓ ❓ ❓ Whatever :sheep: le
Alright, so, I’m listening to Steph and Jim the voice guy was talking about an indication of something big happening because of similar activity in the stock market as was happening pre 9/11. And he said something about the 3rd Friday in Sept. Now, normally I would just wait and watch but I am supposed to be flying to Fla Sept 20 for my Grandmothers 100th birthday which concerns me…..alot. So, I googled it and came up with this
Now, I don’t know the credibility of this site and I need to look further on the google list. I guess it’s a right wing site so ❓ ❓ but I wanna know what you guys think. I’m thinking I don’t wanna fly to Fla now. 😯 :tinfoil:

Purge of voter rolls could swing 2008 election
Using statistics and methodology that some voting experts are calling “flawed,” the Justice Department’s Voting Section is telling 10 US states to purge voter rolls which allegedly show more registered voters than are eligible–a house-cleaning effort AlterNet’s Steven Rosenfeld says could swing the 2008 election.
“Voting Section Chief John Tanner called for the purges in letters sent this spring under an arcane provision in the National Voter Registration Act, better known as the Motor Voter law, ” says Rosenfeld, adding that the letters “notify states that 10 percent or more of their election jurisdictions have problematic voter rolls. It tells states to report ‘the subsequent removal from rolls of persons no longer eligible to vote.”
According to experts interviewed by Rosenfeld, however, the Justice Department is misrepresenting the information they are using to make their recommendations.
“That data does not say what they purport it says,” David Becker, senior voting rights counsel for People for the American Way, said. “They are saying the data shows the 10 worst voter rolls. They have a lot of explaining to do.” Rosenfeld also quotes U.S. Election Assistance Commission consultant Kim Brace, who said “You are basically seeing them grasping at whatever straws are possible to make their point.”

Is this, as Yogi Berra once said, deja vu all over again?
I think that a lot of the “progress” that is alluded to in the areas of voter rights and desegregation really only caused additional work grounds to be performed by the most effected state governments.. In many cases state and local government has even assumed the same same racial balance as the population but those selected to be state and local officers often are only a front for the power base that existed previously and in reality we have as much discrimination and dirty dealing as we had before. Remember a law is only good as long as it is or can be enforced. Rethug dominated state governments mostly put the law on ignore knowing that the cost to the effected individuals will be such that they will never challenge it and with a party of similar oder at the federal level the chances of them enforcing the law is also about that of snowball in H* :reaper: :reaper:
September War Protests Won’t Include Many Democratic Lawmakers
Democratic leaders once envisioned a summerlong cavalcade of anti-war protests to help make their case for a quick drawdown of troops in Iraq.
But Democrats in both chambers are passing up opportunities to participate in a monthlong series of demonstrations, dubbed “Big September†by liberal groups such as Code Pink and Iraq Veterans Against the War.
Why? Because some protests are aimed as much at Democrats as President Bush and Republicans.
A protest scheduled for Sept. 15, for example, will feature a march on Congress as well as the White House to make the point that Democratic leaders haven’t done enough to reverse course on the war……..

Rice: Stabilizing Iraq ‘long process’
WASHINGTON – Stabilizing Iraq will be a lengthy process that won’t end when violence in that country — and U.S. troop strength — are reduced, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said Wednesday.
“We’re at the beginning of a transition in the Middle East, we’re at the beginning of a long process of dealing with what the president called a long time ago a generational challenge to our security brought on by extremism coming principally out of the Middle East,” Rice said.
A day before President Bush was expected to announce that he plans to reduce the American troop presence in Iraq by as many as 30,000 by next summer, Rice said the U.S. views the task of stabilizing Iraq as not simply improving security within its borders but “to begin to have American forces in lower numbers turn to other responsibilities.” Among those, she said, is “the territorial security of Iraq” with respect to its Mideast neighbors, especially Iran.
……………
“That is what is at stake here,” Rice said. “What we are prepared to do is to complete the security gains that we’ve been making, to create circumstances in which an Iraqi government and local officials can find political accommodation, as they are doing in Anbar, and to be able then, from Iraq, with allies in the war on terror, to resist both terrorism and Iranian aggression.”

Hey everybody. I’m off work today, hence no morning post. Also no opportunity to listen to Kucinich on Big Headdie’s show. Oh well.
Good news… Chimpy’s chest-beating session tomorrow night is at 9 PM Eastern, which means (a) KO won’t be pre-empted, and (b) I can watch the HBO special with James Gandolfini interviewing war veterans at 9 PM instead. The HBO special will probably be a lot more enlightening anyway.

I think that if you are one of those in the middle class Thom Hartman is talking about who lost their job, got evicted from their home, are living in their car and find that the money in their 401K prohibits them from applying for food stamps that his show would be a could cause to think seriously about committing suicide. The Op-Ed by seven active duty U.S. soldiers in Iraq questioning the war drew international attention just three weeks ago. Now two of the seven are dead.
Sgt. Omar Mora and Sgt. Yance T. Gray died Monday in a vehicle accident in western Baghdad, two of seven U.S. troops killed in the incident which was reported just as Gen. David Petraeus was about to report to Congress on progress in the “surge.” The names have just been released.

U.S. diplomats and military officers have been in talks with members of the armed movement loyal to Muqtada Sadr, a sharp reversal of policy and a grudging recognition that the radical Shiite cleric holds a dominant position in much of Baghdad and other parts of Iraq.

Of course, the ultimate “solution” for what we have done in Iraq, is a strongman whom we will deem “friendly” to the US. :fustrate:
It used to be that the SBR military was kind of like a football team.. Everyone had a job to do but everyone else watched your back while you were doing it .. That is why so many people want to return to the theater even if they have been there four times before.because all their buddies are there and in harms way. It would seem that the All Volunteer army is more like the Mafia .. A big team who follows orders from El Supremo and gets rid of those who don’t and especially those who dare cross the leader.
How do you fix that with an election especially when those running know they will become El Supremo. :gate: :omg: :jason: :jason: :fist:

Well Dennis is of course right on almost every issue ..I sort of doubt that he would have any more luck with the Reich wing babble machine and the DINOs than anyone else has… unless….. the electorate figures out a way to deal with their elitist congress critters more often than every two years. :gate: :omg: :jason: :jason: :fist:

I could stream if I was at work, but the shitty server in the business center of my apt complex isn’t muscular enough to support a tinkle, let alone a stream. But thanks for the thought, Fred. I had stuff to do this afternoon anyway, and I figure that anything Dennis says worth listening to will be on YouTube and/or e-mailed to me by the campaign eventually.
And, where does lacrosse fit in (other than the obvious, which is Wisconsin)?

Blue Majority endorses our guy, Dan Maffei, who narrowly lost to our scumbag Republican (who I’ve mentioned before), Jim Walsh.
Anyone hear Jeff Gannon on the Young Turks this morning? Cenk sounded incredulous that he even had the nerve to come on the show. Really bizarre, and the guy sounds like a ego-inflated jerk.
I have two comments to make. I will make them in two separate postings.
The first is sort of an apology. When I moved to the DC vicinity I expected to be able to be more active on the blog and in politics. Well, it hasn’t happened and probably won’t for at least the next six months. I work for a government contracting company where being involved in politics on the job is not a good idea at all.
The other reason reason is all my spare time disappeared into the worst traffic and rudest drivers in North America. And I thought the Bay Area was bad. Well, it was where I lived – Santa Cruz with a commute into Redwood City.
So, I must apologize for not being more active. And, I must thank PJ for offering up this site so I can come and rant and rave occasionally. I just wish I had more occasions. So, PJ, again thanks.
Now, you have to go to the next posting to see my latest rant.
Let me get this straight.
Tony Snow works for an intractable, inept, delusional man who would have gotten treatment for his disorders before Reagan broke the health care system in this country.
Tony Snow’s delusional boss refuses to change his failed policy because its, well because its HIS failed policy.
On Wednesday, September 12, 2007, in the White House briefing room Tony Snow said only a crazy person wouldn’t change policy as conditions change.
I keep reading and hearing the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different result. I wonder, does that also include saying the same things over and over and expecting people to believe them? Or is that simply Stalin-esque?
Whichever, the White House Press Secretary told the world the current occupant of the White House is insane. Now that Reagan is dead, if we can’t impeach W can we at least get him treatment?
i am fearful of the Quakes worldwide, just a small quake and not much else is needed for bush to take over via NSPDs and HSPDs my CA
and now more Truths about the soldiers in vehicle accident(?)?
