So, I have to go to some sort of training thing today. It’s half a day, and, ordinarily, I wouldn’t mind, but I have some shit I’m working on that I’d really like to get finished as soon as possible. This is not only going to set me back half a day, but I have to go to my “other” location tomorrow, Monday, and Tuesday, so I won’t get back to this until next Wednesday (at which point, it’ll take me at least half a day to get my mind back into it). Pain in the ass. There probably won’t even be any schwag.
Oh well, could be worse. At least I don’t have a Thursday meeting, like Fred does.
This mp3 player w/ wi-fi built in looks pretty good.
NC Blue is back!!
Whichever, the White House Press Secretary told the world the current occupant of the White House is insane. Now that Reagan is dead, if we can’t impeach W can we at least get him treatment?

Thank you. I saw this clip on KO last night and wondered if anyone else noticed that Crony McSnowjob was calling the Chimp In Chief insane.
A parting shot on the way out the door, perhaps? Nah. Tony isn’t in a position to bite the hand that feeds. Especially if he’s going broke in service to his country, as he claims.
I need to go TV shopping today after work. My set has developed a nasty habit of shutting itself off three seconds after I turn it on. It started last night shortly after the end of the Sarah Silverman Program, so I’m assuming there’s a cause-and-effect relationship going on there somewhere.

FRANKFURT (Reuters) – What price exclusivity? If you ask Lamborghini, one million euros ($1.4 million) should do it — before tax, of course.
In a bid to add more prestige to what it already has, the Italian maker of super luxury sports car unveiled the Reventon at Frankfurt’s international autoshow, a very limited edition car that looks more like an arrow than anything on four wheels.

Tonight, after President Bush makes yet another argument for continuing the war in Iraq, John Edwards will speak directly to the American people in a nationwide address on MSNBC.
Our campaign has bought airtime on MSNBC immediately following the President’s address at 9 p.m., and John Edwards will challenge the President’s remarks with a strong call to the nation to end the war now.

The 118-year-old cylinder that is the international prototype for the metric mass, kept tightly under lock and key outside Paris, is mysteriously losing weight — if ever so slightly. Physicist Richard Davis of the International Bureau of Weights and Measures in Sevres, southwest of Paris, says the reference kilo appears to have lost 50 micrograms compared with the average of dozens of copies.
“The mystery is that they were all made of the same material, and many were made at the same time and kept under the same conditions, and yet the masses among them are slowly drifting apart,” he said. “We don’t really have a good hypothesis for it.”
The kilogram’s uncertainty could affect even countries that don’t use the metric system — it is the ultimate weight standard for the U.S. customary system, where it equals 2.2 pounds. For scientists, the inconstant metric constant is a nuisance, threatening calculation of things like electricity generation.

Has anyone noticed that the lady from CREW (Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington) isn’t on the air any more .. maybe the democrats don’t want anyone to notice … its hard to avoid the smell however.. :yuck:
Melanie Sloan
CREW in the news
She was Franken’s guest and once Seder was gone weekdays, that was another AAR loss. She/CREW are still out there. I doubt seriously the “Dems” are burying her.
Hey, WVU plays UMd tonight! Wish I had cable.
Now I am “fearful” . No, I have not been to CREW (and certain other ones) I think since Al Franken’s Time :omg: … :omg: A!I!V! … :dancers:
A lot of Al’s ‘regulars’ sort of disappeared. Most of them were probably too centrist or ‘Dem’ for this smell test crowd like Al was anyway. I do really miss Joe Conason.
Sam picked up a few when he was on weekdays but I am guessing it is not as easy to get some of these folks on Sunday afternoons. You know, NFL and all that. I think he had Melanie Sloan on Seder on Sundays early on.
I noted that the representative from ANSWER that was talking with Peter B wanted yet even more people in DC this weekend. :yuck:
When will it occur to these people that many have pointed out that doing the same thing over and over again but expecting a different result was deemed an act of insanity when applied to the rethugs.. what makes them think this same set of fruitless motions does not apply to the “peace” movement too.
They obviously don’t understand the minds of a bunch of sociopaths
Some one locally pointed out that if they broke something they would probably not be invited back.. I think she sort of misunderstood what this was all about .. :reaper: :reaper:
Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) said Thursday that he is asking The New York Times for the “same heavily discounted rate they gave MoveOn.org†for his campaign to run an ad in Friday’s paper.
Giuliani, calling MoveOn.org’s controversial “General Betray Us†ad “abominable,†said his campaign is asking the paper for a comparable rate for an ad to run following President Bush’s speech on Iraq.
http://thehill.com/leading-the-news/giuliani-demands-moveons-new-york-times-ad-rate-2007-09-13.html
Typical Giuliani, who thinks that HE is the answerer. It would be different if Petreaus (sp) asked. What does Rudy have o do with an ad designed to rebut Petreaus’ report?
Unless the media covers these protests, they might as well not even happen. Personally, I think a mass sit-in, that non-violently disrupts the government, or Wall street, or some other appropriate target, might force some attention on itself.
The last time I went to Washington was the women”s rights march. It was massive. Probably the largest demonstration I’ve attended in DC. But the press covered the 50 or so counter demonstrators as if they were an equal force.
Before the war there was an amazing march in NYC. Originally scheduled for 1st Avenue, it spilled onto 2nd and 3rd from 42nd to 70th. Marchers closed the streets and sidewalks and nothing could move for hours in Manhattan. The media covered some of the speakers but never showed the massive outpouring on anti-war sentiment.
I think that some action against the Reich wing media ( FAUX news and the babble machine) that might be threatened to be replayed against the M$M might cause some change in direction or no Monday night football one or the other. :reaper: :reaper:
60k was a “discounted” rate 😮 😮
‘No surge’ but US war dissatisfaction eases a bit
According to a new NBC/Wall Street Journal poll, dissatisfaction with the war has eased a little bit in the last few weeks, even though a Democratic pollster was quick to point out that it was “no surge.”
“Public discontent with the Iraq war has eased slightly, a new Wall Street Journal-NBC News poll shows, suggesting President Bush may have a little more maneuvering room at a critical point in debates over war costs and troop levels,” John Harwood writes for the Journal.

Now the question to ask is this before or after Murdork ??
You can tell from this that liberal talk radio sure is successful. :bf:
Among the IDIOT REICH WING MORONS the MoveOn add was really insulting because it caused doubt that their way of doing everything ( by breaking things and killing people) would work.. So Giuliani is just playing to the rethug IDIOT MORON base,,
I keep hoping that it is constantly diminishing but we seem to have 20 something percent who will never understand. :reaper: :reaper:
😳 I just got back after my frozen stupid computer let me back and no emos yet, so :tap: 😮 A!I!V! :growl:
…and why doesn’t ALL AIR WAYS SAY: Giuliani Is A Lying Twit A!I!V! … LOUD SPEAKER (whatever)
I was saying regarding women, that one is “curious” when one without a perfect face, and at a certain age and “poof” just disappears it just makes one “question” (well it was perfect before the post just “disappeared” bored. (“they” measured my face in a good way, kinda — so I know of which I speak.)
I get the feeling that the executives in the M$M get a briefing every week or so from the people in the RNC who control the FCC and the $$$ and they like their partners in the babble machine get a set of directions such that nothing critical of the administration will appear on their networks.
I see the only fix for this being the same fix as for the demodorps who don’t work for the people :gate: :omg: :jason: :jason: :fist:

In this video, Bill Maher asks, “Senator Edwards, you’ve suggested that Americans should give up their SUVs for the sake of the environment, but a recent UN study found that deforestation for the purpose of creating grazing land for cattle and methane emissions from cattle generated more greenhouse gas emissions than all the cars and planes in the world, so it’s not just the SUVs, it’s the C-O-W-S. Taking a shot at SUVs was gutsy. Do you want to take a shot at meat?”
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2007/09/13/maher-asks-edwards-if-he_n_64315.html
SueP,
That sounded like Jim Earl was writing for Maher.
Meanwhile, the whole website/project is pretty cool and interactive. 8 candidates, 3 issues and Maher off the wall.

Melanie has been showing up on the Young Turds from time to time. She was on a couple of weeks ago. I think she’s still getting used to Cenk.
CREW sends out updates every month or so if you sign up. No pix of Melanie, though, which bums me out because she is seriously :hot:
Speaking of AAR, I can’t remember whether or not anyone has mentioned Thom Hartmann’s sub hosts for the next couple of days, so if this is duplicate information, have me waterboarded.
Friday 9/14: Laura Flanders
Monday 9/17: SAMMY!!! :sammy:
(Not THAT Sammy!)
Kevin, I I think either Flandersor Peter B. cover for Thom on Tuesday. I may actually listen for a change. I like them both.
Take your pick
Bad to the Sloan

Brzezinski Backs Obama
Oh yeah, I stopped by Target after work and snagged a TV. Nothing massive, just functional so that I can catch KO before and after Chimpy’s chest-beating tonight. (He and Tweety will be parsing the speech after John Edwards does his two-minute spot.)
The contrast is very sharp, though. (I mean the picture on the TV, not between KO and Tweety, although I guess you could make that argument too.)
I need to get a new teevee. A BFHDTV. Then I can hook the XBOX 360 up to it (yeah, broke down and got one; trying to work my way through Rainbow Six: Vegas). Have to figure out a way to slip it past the old ball and chain, though. PS, don’t tell her I said that. 😉
Ah, to watch SU get trounced in HD….

Daily Kos commissioned the following poll from independent pollster Research 2000:
Research 2000 for Daily Kos. 9/10-12. Likely voters. MoE 4% (No trend lines)
For whom did you vote for in the 2006 race for U.S. Senate, Ned Lamont, the Democrat, Alan Schlesinger, the Republican, or Joe Lieberman, an Independent?
Lieberman Lamont Schlesinger
All 49 42 9
Dem 34 62 4
Rep 67 10 23
Ind 53 41 6
If you could vote again for U.S. Senate, would you vote for Ned Lamont, the Democrat, Alan Schlesinger, the Republican, or Joe Lieberman, an Independent?
Lieberman Lamont Schlesinger
All 40 48 10
Dem 25 72 3
Rep 69 7 24
Ind 38 49 9
Lieberman won 50-40-10 in 2006, so the poll tracks closely. But even if you account for a slight Lamont bias, it still looks like buyer’s remorse. Full polling memo from R2K below the fold.

I think Biden’s plan to partition Iraq with a weak central government with international support is the most realistic.
I wish he would say equally smart stuff about domestic issues.
I agree on Biden’s plan.
As for #60, I think you might be getting at John Amato who has the great blog Crooks and Liars (C&L) who did have a connection with Duran Duran (not C&W, not guitar).
