Just got around to watching last week’s Daily Show, with Bill Clinton. Say what you want about him, but seeing somebody who’s smart, articulate, and charming really made me feel sad about that idiot we have taking up space in DC right now. A damn shame.
Also got around to watching Bill Maher from last week, too. I think it was the best Real Time I’ve seen in a long time, and Janeane was really very good – much better than she was most of the time on Majority Report, IMHO (not that I didn’t like MR, but I just thought she did great the other night).
Oh well, back to work again. Everybody stay safe and healthy, OK?
There was an additional 8 or so minutes of Real Time after the show on Overtime that was pretty good also. The freezing Janeane gets a coat.
damn…no one is around…all watching Keith?
Comment by Melina — September 24, 2007 @ 8:10 pm
Actually, I was watching How I Met Your Mother. But I was taping Keith. Because if you don’t watch Keith, you miss stuff. Like Jan and Marcia Brady. :hot: :hubba:

My dog, the one who is the official wake-up agent, has learned quickly that I’m the morning dog walker. So, they’re all walked, dogs and cats are fed and looking for some mischief to get into.
I’m up too. :joe: :joe:
My monster Dog is a large monster. How’s Hubby? What doc say. (It sounds like he will not be climbing roofs or awhile :pup:

Two Al Greenspans on the wee hours of the morning for me. Cenk finally gets Greenie on tape after the Amy Goodman interview ran long yesterday. So I get to listen to Amy this morning on repeat, but I still missed Cenk’s interview. They are running the G-Span around in circles to good effect, but the corporate media doesn’t catch on.
Kevin, did you make it to work yet? How’s your new HOME (work place) that they changed recently? Having fun with “all eyes able to “SEE YOU 😉 :omg: 😉 ?” ARREST! IMPEACH!

So the controversy surrounding Ahmadinejad replaced the seemingly endless discussion of OJ in both the M$M and the Reich wing talk stations last night.. The Columbia presidork made a total kiss up to the Reich out of himself.. Nothing like verbally assaulting your guest before he spoke.. THAT WAS TERRABLE
It amazed me how many of the callers to the Reich wing stations thought Ahmadinejad had committed war crimes and should be arrested and sent to GTMO.. This seems to confirm that Amerikans (that call Reich wing talk stations at least) are for the most part IDIOT MORONS :reaper: :reaper:
For what it is worth it also appeared that Ahmadinejad was an IDIOT MORON too.
fred regarding both issues:

U.S. snipers accused of ‘baiting’ Iraqis By PAULINE JELINEK and ROBERT BURNS, Associated Press Writers
1 hour, 17 minutes ago
WASHINGTON – Army snipers hunting insurgents in Iraq were under orders to “bait” their targets with suspicious materials, such as detonation cords, and then kill whoever picked up the items, according to the defense attorney for a soldier accused of planting evidence on an Iraqi he killed. Gary Myers, an attorney for Sgt. Evan Vela, said his client had acted “pursuant to orders.”
“We believe that our client has done nothing more than he was instructed to do by superiors,” Myers said in a telephone
ARREST! IMPEACH! :dancers:
 Fred 😮 🙄 A!I! then V!
If we didn’t bate the Iraqi’s then we might have to admit that most of the terrorists we kill in Iraq are just Iraqis trying to reclaim their country :reaper: :reaper:
Druid, I used to have a briad, which is a sheep dog. He loved cats and could herd my three under a chair. But, he hated dogs,I assume because his job would have been to protect his sheep from Danu’s full-bred relatives.
He was a great dog until he saw another dog. He was so good at spotting them that he often knew one was around long before we did. Then he could break any collar and foil any restraint and he would take off after the poor interloper with murder in his eyes, as we ran screaming his name up the block. He was quite imperious to other dog’s bites because of all that hair, for that’s all another animal could get was a mouth full of hair.
He was very smart but also very stubborn.
Hubby is OK but you are quite right, no roofs, ladders or scaffolding for some time. He’s not too demanding an invalid but as I am a horrible cook solving the eating problem means a lot of take-out.
The doctor says his heel is fractured in three places. Thursday is another doctor’s appointment so we’ll know more then, I hope.
Fred, Do you have Sederville yet? It is not consistent for me, but it seems Cool 8) for most. 😉

pretty fooked up. I tried that BB site and it didn’t work. IMed someone who was also having trouble and he told me that was his stream and he couldn’t get it.
I think this worked better last week when they were sort of doing it themselves 😮
Thanks, burning bush.
Your tip helped me finally get the SammyMarc show.
Imagine Maron designing a high school American history curriculum. That would really be fun.
I need a morning remembrance on Marcel Marceau – a little suggestion for this show?
$9.11
The Giuliani campaign is being forced to distance itself from the decision of a supporter to throw a fundraising party where supporters of the Republican candidate for president have been asked to donate $9.11.
not 911 dollarsl???
best ghooliani was unhappy with this guy!
You’re right, Roxie. $911 is much more Rudy’s style. But, shameless exploitation is his hallmark.
Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg took a rare, veiled swipe at his predecessor yesterday, challenging Rudolph W. Giuliani’s assertion that a lawsuit Mr. Giuliani filed as mayor against gun manufacturers had changed so much that he may no longer support it.
Saying that the case had “not changed at all†since its inception, Mr. Bloomberg told reporters at a news conference at City Hall, “We believe that it’s a good case, and we hope to win it.â€
Last week, Mr. Giuliani, a Republican candidate for president, told the National Rifle Association that the suit had “taken several turns and several twists that I don’t agree with.â€
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/25/nyregion/25guns.html?_r=1&ref=todayspaper&oref=slogin
He’s also a shameless liar.
Assuming that they have even tuned in to this interminable presidential campaign, many Americans just caught a glimpse of a Rudolph W. Giuliani long known to New Yorkers.
Note that we said a Rudolph Giuliani. There are several versions of the former mayor.
Understandably, he prefers to project the ones that would get any politician dreaming about a spot on Mount Rushmore: Rudy the clear-thinking, Rudy the principled, Rudy the focused, Rudy the unswerving (never mind his recent swivels to the right on issues like immigration, gun control and abortion).
New Yorkers are well acquainted with at least one other version. That would be Rudy the loopy. The weirdness factor, as some have called it, is as much a part of the Giuliani package as 9/11, banished squeegee men and shuttered porn parlors.
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/09/25/nyregion/25nyc.html?ref=todayspaper
That bit about banishing the porn parlors, here’s what he really did:
Rudy decided to turn Times Square into hg\is version of Disneyland and so he did banish the porn parlors from thee and put them in every poor minority area. Ghouliani, who driveled about how children shouldn’t have to pass that stuff on 42nd Street, thought poor and minority kds could handle it just fine. 😡
not 911 dollarsl???
best ghooliani was unhappy with this guy!

isn’t that sick :yuck: :barf: :growl: and I think I heard $9.11
On Sept. 1, the bullet-riddled bodies of four Iraqi men were found on a Baghdad street. Two days later, a single dead man, with one bullet in his head, was found on a different street. According to the U.S. military in Iraq, the solitary man was a victim of sectarian violence. The first four were not.
Such determinations are the building blocks for what the Bush administration has declared a downward trend in sectarian deaths and a sign that its war strategy is working. They are made by a specialized team of soldiers who spend their nights at computer terminals, sifting through data on the day’s civilian victims for clues to the motivations of killers.
The soldiers have a manual telling them what to look for. Signs of torture or a single shot to the head, corpses left in a “known body dump” — as the body of the Sunni man found on Sept. 3 was — spell sectarian violence, said Chief Warrant Officer 3 Dan Macomber, the team leader. Macomber, who has been at his job in Baghdad since February, rarely has to look it up anymore.
“If you were just a criminal and you just wanted to take somebody’s money, just wanted to discipline them, you’re not going to take the time to bind them up, burn their bodies, cut their arms off, cut their head off,” he explained. “You’re just going to shoot them in the body and get it over with.” That, the team judged, is what happened to the four Shiite men, sprayed with gunfire and left where they dropped.

Apparent contradictions are relatively easy to find in the flood of bar charts and trend lines the military produces. Civilian casualty numbers in the Pentagon’s latest quarterly report on Iraq last week, for example, differ significantly from those presented by the top commander in Iraq, Gen. David H. Petraeus, in his recent congressional testimony. Petraeus’s chart was limited to numbers of dead, while the Pentagon combined the numbers of dead and wounded — a figure that should be greater. Yet Petraeus’s numbers were higher than the Pentagon’s for the months preceding this year’s increase of U.S. troops to Iraq, and lower since U.S. operations escalated this summer.
The charts are difficult to compare: Petraeus used monthly figures on a line graph, while the Pentagon computed “Average Daily Casualties” on a bar chart, and neither included actual numbers. But the numerical differences are still stark, and the reasons offered can be hard to parse. The Pentagon, in a written clarification, said that “Gen. Petraeus reported civilian deaths based on incidents reported by Coalition forces plus Iraqi government data. The [Pentagon] report only includes incidents reported by Coalition forces for civilian causality data.”

I find it incredibly arrogant of the President admonishing anyone for denying people of “basic freedoms” when we can all see what he has done in Guantanamo and his party’s efforts to deny Americans their Constitutional rights. The man has apparently forgotten his own efforts to circumvent the Constitution and the rule of law. How much more arrogant can he get? Even his choice of locations – the United Nations, an organization he has referred to as impotent – is arrogance beyond belief.
NC Blue, This is what the Repugs do best, they make the argument about something else. The left can’t do that because the lefties would yell. Repugs seem to merely identify. As if the purpose is to BE a Repug and that means it has nothing to do with principles or ideals.
There really is something wrong with these people.
Sam was on with Papantonio on Sunday and they were talking about FUBAR. Of course the they quickly got around to Repug sex scandals and the idea that the party that made “family values” (read sexual morality) and “patriotism” (read war) a defining issue is made up of pedophiles, self-loathing homosexuals and chicken hawks.
It’s too bad that the management of AAR doesn’t undrstand. They think it’s about reasonable issues that can be discussed. That’s why they don’t value Marc and Sam and Malloy. Rachel gets away with it because she has a PhD.
