I’m not much in the mood to get back to work today. At least I can listen to the podcast of last night’s RM show with Marc subbing. Otherwise, I can’t much think if anything good.

Marc Maron: Heartbreaking Comedy
Check out the side story next to the Maron article:
CARLOS MENCIA TO HOST CREATIVE EMMY AWARDS
——————————————————————————–
Comedian Carlos Mencia will host the Creative Emmy Awards at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The show will be taped Sept. 8 and will air on E! Sept. 15 as a two-hour special. Emmys in 75 categories, like costume design, makeup and art direction, will be handed out during the ceremony.
The biggest thief in comedy is hosting the CREATIVE Emmy Awards? The word “creative” in the same sentence as the name “Carlos Mencia” is funnier than any joke in Mencia’s act.

Democrats Seem Ready to Extend Wiretap Powers
Two months after insisting that they would roll back broad eavesdropping powers won by the Bush administration, Democrats in Congress appear ready to make concessions that could extend some crucial powers given to the National Security Agency.
Administration officials say they are confident they will win approval of the broadened authority that they secured temporarily in August as Congress rushed toward recess. Some Democratic officials concede that they may not come up with enough votes to stop approval…
SNIP
…A Democratic bill to be proposed on Tuesday in the House would maintain for several years the type of broad, blanket authority for N.S.A. eavesdropping that the administration secured in August for six months…
SNIP
…A competing proposal in the Senate, still being drafted, may be even closer in line with the administration plan, with the possibility of including retroactive immunity for telecommunications utilities that participated in the once-secret program to eavesdrop without court warrants…

I have to wonder what line of BS BushCo is feeding these people.. or what do the preselected know that they don’t want us to know. :gate: :omg: :jason: :jason: :fist:

And people wonder why the Bushies can’t catch Osama.
Wow, this is pretty cool. And kinda scary.
There was a story about miniature UAVs on PBS a year or more a go.. At that time they had one with a built in camera the size of a bat.
Maybe the one the size of a dragon fly could fly in the ear of a rethug and look around.. If it saw a maze of integrated circuits and flashing LEDs it would prove out the theory that the rrethugs are actually robots… other wise at some point we need to investigate :jason: :jason: :jason:
Me getting ready for next protest: got standard size flag on pole with a long black tie, tied — check and WHERE IS MY NET? :growl: A!I!V! Ghost Town … by The Specials….
A few young friends “beg”, CHANGE YOUR DAMN SONG
(I just REALLY Like: Dark Angle Butterfly … Hasson Chopper — NOW, SKA YAAA, GHOST TOWN by The Specials)

The Season of The Masque & The Masquerade :dancers: :nana: A!I!V! :fist: :pirate: Tea :joe: Party alright I’m done 8)
However I am still creeped “out” about all the SciFi “RoboBugs” of the decades are coming true — WE TEASED ABOUT THEM IN THE 70’s (BUT LBH)…… WTF BUT stay away from The :bee: S :tap:
I don’t think NovaM is going to be airing Rachel’s show with Marc, for some reason. :growl: I’ll miss it online, I sure hope someone is recording it :ear:
Kristapea, I Stream AAR … the channel was clear yesterday … (usually I have to listen to Jeff — however I like him …then Rachel after Malloy’s show (but what happened to my California ?) and I also hope someone copies Marc :yippee: . A!I!V!

Did the the web cast not work this morning ?? it looked like Sam’s video and voice wasn’t happening but Marc’s was.
Can I gather that they haven’t gotten the archiving of the previous web casts figured out yet ?? :tap: :tap:
It is back on. The last show is available but will probably disappear for now when this one goes up.
I clicked on that VOD link and it says this is the place but it says its under construction. ๐
fred, are you responsible? Someone is doing something in my ‘hood and it sounds like :tommygun: :tommygun: :tommygun: :tommygun: all day long. Those that you use to see in WWII movies.
Now that I think about it, a month or two ago it was the same thing with the :jason: :jason: :jason: :jason:
It was working yesterday. Check after the live thing is over.
Awww Amero Beer Inc
The problem with these consolidations is that you will eventually end up with the ultimate in corporate welfare .. like Conrail you will either end up with Con beer , ConAir and ConMedia or all your bankrupt corps will end up being owned by foreign governments or companies.
I’ll tell ya, since I’ve been brewing my own beer, I really can’t stand these mass-produced mega-corporate beers anymore. My favorite beer that isn’t my own is Impaled Ale from Middle Ages brewery here in Syracuse. I used to think Molson XXX was good beer, but now it tastes like water to me.
Coors ships its beer to th east coast in 10,000 gallon tank cars. It supposedly continues to brew in route .. Knowing how railroads keep schedules it might be really good by the time it arrives at the canning plant or really green.
They derailed a couple of tank cars in the spring time and spilled about a half a car worth.. The neighbors were not happy with the smell after about a week of 90+ degree days :yuck:
I thought Coors shipped a concentrate to their plant in VA, where it gets watered down and distributed on the east coast.
That’s basically what the British did when they shipped India Pale Ale to India. They brewed it extra strong so it would survive the long trip by ship, and then they watered it down upon arrival (except the British officers could get the full-strength stuff).
Funny, pj! When I was in college in VA Coors was only available in states around Colorado. People would fill their cars or mail trucks with the swill if they ever hit one of the states. High officials of the nixon administration had it flown to DC in military transports. :40:
Old joke
How is Coors like making love in a canoe?
It’s fucking close to water.
I think the beer is a concentrate until it gets to the canning plant even at the brewery.. They mix carbonated water with it to bring it up to some given density just before it gets canned :tap:
They used to have these funky cans, too. Instead of a pop-top with a tab (which perhaps hadn’t yet been invented), you had to punch the hole out with your knuckle. Very manly, indeed. It’s also been the subject of more than one boycott.
When I was living in Colorado, everyone called it rocky mountain snake piss.
Yeah, my father-in-law is a big fan of the Silver Bullet, and well, I would have to agree. It’s kinda like fizzy water that got a couple drops of real beer dropped into it.
I think the Coors Light is actually better than the regular stuff.
Wow, this is pretty cool. And kinda scary.

Record Industry: If Anyone Can Hear Your Radio, You Are A Pirate And A Thief
Source: Wired.com
Like an infintely-growing fractal tree of bullshit, the record industry’s inexplicable belief system grows ever crazier. The latest legal promulgation from one of its tendrils? According to Britain’s Performing Rights Society, which collects royalties for the music industry, playing radios loud enough for other people to hear amounts to an unlicensed public performance. The punishment? Hundreds of thousands of dollars, please.
There are pros to this, mind you. First. when some kid’s subwoofer-laden ricer lumbers down the street at 4 a.m., he is now a filthy pirate in addition to being a noise polluter. Second, workers at car-repair chain Kwik-Fit, the first to be targeted by this new legal campaign, will get back to fixing your 1986 Corolla instead of dancing the Macarena.
And then there is the con: any speaker bigger than an earbud is now illegal, unless it is in a soundproofed room.

3 PM EDT on AAR
Marc Maron is here today filling in for Rachel. If you’re in the New York are this week, go see Marc perform at Comix.
Today’s guests include comedian Greg Proops and Vanity Fair’s James Wolcott.
Marc will also be chatting with Planet Bush Bureau Chief Lawton Smalls
Damn, I’ve got a Dem committee meeting tonight. So who’s going to represent and call Marc?
That was actually post pop-top with a tab .. The tabs were creating to much litter… Obviously the push in tab took to much effort. :yuck: :crap: :fustrate: :paranoid:
Marc’s description of Fred Thompson would attract a lot of non corporatist rethugs …. He would appear to just be one of them. :reaper: :reaper:
Damn, looks like Green 960 already has up the podcast for the first hour today of Maron in for Maddow. :omg:
Maron on Maddow. Oh, the mental image that conjurs up!
I always thought I was going to cut my finger off with those push in top beer cans. Too bad they didn’t figure that pop top thing out before Margaritaville.
I never could quite see what was wrong with using a can opener. If you didn’t have one, a screwdriver worked just as well.
Now, it’s downright difficult to find non-twistoff bottles. It’s the wussification of America. I mean, kids these days wouldn’t even know how to open a beer bottle on a car bumper.
Or strike a match on your zipper, for that matter.
Sierra Nevada Anniversary current edition, fresh seal cap, use bottle opener.
I always try to keep open flames away from some things.
Ah, well, no guts, no glory (and no fire, no bowl).
Maron brought in his buddy “Don” for moral support. “Don” sounds suspiciously like …….
So was Lawton on tonight, and Web who do you think Don was?
In the middle of listening. I switched to Sammy LIVE! and will catch the rest later.
On second thought I have no idea who Don is, it certainly wasn’t Jim Earl
aaA, Lawton was on at the end of the 2nd hour, podcast already available here
Bruce Cherry did some intros. Proops was great. Who was Don?
:fire: :sammy: ๐
I’m guessing Don was a shiftless drifter who crossed paths with Maron recently.
Just finished playing Bioshock and found myself getting a little misty at the end. ๐
I’m listening to Sammy and am hoping Marc will be on NovaM at 9 filling for Rachel.
We had a CalTran accident “optic” severing ๐ฎ :rant1: :jason:
in Northern Cal (well got to reknow local NPR ๐ฎ 8) ๐ and just got back online… :smack: A!I!V! Ghost Town …The Specials
NEVERMIND … I just saw the Pods and will perhaps get brave later. But Thanks Vernon regarding Green 960 … SBlue had earlier but I DIDN’T on hybrid PC/iPod/iTunes/whatever!
Sea Ice in Retreat
If anyone else is listening to Sammy, I really identified with that last caller who has absolutely “no hope” but felt he needed to act anyways. I’ve slacked off from calling my Senators :jerk: and am disillusioned with the Representative I helped elect. I really wonder if it all does anything and wonder if enough people care enough or if they are, as Marc said, preoccupied with their lives. Where can I hide?? :tinfoil:
Programming reminder
You can listen to the re-broadcasts of Maron on Maddow from 9-11 PM PDT and Seder on Malloy 11PM-2AM PDT tonight on Green 960 just in case.
Kristapea, ๐ DITTO … :growl: :fist: The Power Of The Atmans :dancers: … Just “dance” and have a Tankard of Tea Party. It will work out … :tap: :dancers: of :reaper: A!I!V I call these depressions or sorrows, right before I am to Create or write “Art”… Even through the blood of the Monks…especially — AND WE WILL NOT FORGET! As Mary said (to paraphrase) about hubby, Percy Shelley, “…the Poem is in his head, and not written yet”.
Oh SAM! :rofl2: :rofl2:
John L. :cake: Blessings
(my computer didn’t work) …… If Only … Believing is all one needs. :pirate: A!I!V!
Yay! Marc is on NovaM!
Don sounds like Dave the pot head.
