Got a pair of fancy-schmancy headphones to use with the XBOX. They have eight speakers in them, have 5.1 surround sound, rumble, and even have a detachable microphone. In short, they are way cool. Better yet, they enabled me to move the XBOX down to my private little cave, where I won’t disturb or offend anybody else. The only bummer is that the teevee that I have down there is kinda small. I guess my next move is to buy a better one. I also need to move my little fridge down there, so I don’t have to go up and down for beer (although, there’s something about going up and down that seems to accentuate the buzz). I guess I’ll also need a catheter – or at least a few mayonnaise jars. There’s a floor drain fairly close by, though, so I guess that’s not a big necessity. I’d also like to get a kegging system setup for the homebrew (getting tired of dealing with the bottles), but I think that’ll have to wait a while.
No Maron to listen to today, and that’s a bummer. But at least there are a few more Sammy on Malloys to listen to. It’s amazing how well the old MS clips hold up after all this time. It’s a shame we’ll never get that back again.
It was interesting to see Janeane on Two and a Half Men the other day. It’s amazing how they were able to hide her tattoos. A nice think coat of flesh-colored spackle does the trick, I guess.
I know that a lot of people think it’s a stupid male juvenile program, (Two and a Half Men, that is) but I think it’s pretty funny most of the time, and so does my wife (who, last time I checked) is female. And very intelligent (my wife, that is, not the program; the show is not eaxctly “cerebral,” but it’s funny in a crude way.). So there (insert phpht! smilie).
I listened to an album I haven’t listened to in years last night, too. Jeff Beck’s Guitar Shop, with Terry Bozzio on drums. Great Album.
Nothing is being done.
I don’t really have anything to say this morning, so I’ll remind everyone that the winner of the Nobel Peace Prize will be announced Friday morning.
RE-ELECT GORE!!!

Morninf all, thought I could sleep in but no such luck, I didn’t have to be up I just couldn’t sleep. After 13 years this is getting REALLY old.
Yeah, I know how that is. Seems I can’t sleep for shit at all anymore. One by one, all of life’s little pleasures are being taken away from me. I guess that’s nature’s way of making death seem like a pretty good option.
Good Morning :joe: That’s what I like about you PJ, your morbidity. Were you ever on The Addam’s Family? Maybe you played Pugsly or Thing? :reaper:

It’s pouring outside and the dogs need a walk but they refuse to go out in the rain.
I went to the meeting today but I purposely arrived quite late, missing almost an hour of the drivel I’ve heard many times before.
But, all things considered, the fact that I had both Maron and Sam to listen to has been a real pleasure. I thought Maron was talking as if he wanted to get back on the radio. That would be really nice.
Oops, looks like the rain has let up. Better get those dogs walked.
Later!
Afghan authorities this week shut down two private security companies and said more than 10 others — some suspected of murder and robbery — would soon be closed, Afghan and Western officials said Thursday.
Authorities on Tuesday shut down the Afghan-run security companies Watan and Caps, where 82 illegal weapons were found during the two raids in Kabul, police Gen. Ali Shah Paktiawal said.
A Western security official, speaking on condition of anonymity because of the sensitivity of the issue, said some major Western companies were on the list of at least 10 others tapped for closure. He would not identify them.

Has anyone heard from Roxie? How’s she doing?
These mercenary armies we seem to be training will be our substitute for sending in an identifiable military or police force when we decide to violently meddle in some other countries or even in our own countries affairs.
Unfortunately the all volunteer army no longer trains a person to take up a trade it just trains them to kill people and break things so all they can do when they come back to the SBR is join a SWAT team or some private security company where they become potentially quite dangerous.
With the current reenlistment problems it looks ( fortunately for us) that we have a relative few of them to deal with. :reaper: :reaper:
A lot of the mercenaries however come from the private armies of the dictators that we supported that got booted out by popular uprisings.. I think if you look at Roman history around 400 Ad there area lot of similarities. 😮 :yuck: :fustrate: :paranoid:
The army of the sociopath.. We Amerikans of course solve all these problems through the selection.. err.. election process..
James Wolcott pimping Maron nicely at his blog:
http://www.vanityfair.com/politics/blogs/wolcott/2007/10/i-had-to-watch-.html
Wolcott is the best writer working on the net. I also like reading Steven Weber over at the HuffPo. Although not quite a Wolcott, Weber tosses around off-handed metaphors with the same glee.
WeberHubbleTelescope?
He was great om Studio 60. Steve Weber, that is.
PJ Sauter is also up there in the Wolcott zone.
The one and the same actor. Weber is a fun writer at HuffPo. Half the time I can’t follow where he is going but it is all in the journey. I never caught him much on his TV shows, but he could really spin this political writing gig off into some other filmic areas if he wanted to.
