This has been one long friggin’ week, and I, for one, am very happy that it’s over. It turned out pretty well, but I need a couple of days to unwind. And Siggy needs to get his woofer back (all he can manage is a squeak).
Now, let’s just get today over with, and then kick back with a little Barleycorn.

Rutgers 30, USF 27. The dream dies. And the Indians lost too, although they will live to play tomorrow night. Oh well, at least the damn bus got me to work on time today. Unlike yesterday.
SAMMY! On with Cenk this morning. Cool!
:sammy:
Oh, I wondered why sammy popped up in my IM list.
This was a conspiracy and cover-up. The CIA flew a plane into it.
Thanks Kevin, I forgot about Sam with Cenk :smack: A!I!V! 8)
Sam and Cenk is a GREAT fit. Sam is external enough and seems to “focus” Cenk to be even a better co-host. I luv them before and even better now. Cenk needs someone like Sam. He “completes” him. :rofl2: LBH :fist: A!I!V! … For What It’s Worth. BS
Is that Amy? 8) Bumper Music on Young Turks
I’m awake. Too bad, because I don’t work on Fridays. But, I get to listen to Sam and Cenk.
We made it out to Shelter Island, last night. Hubby has been hobbling around for 4 weeks but hobbling is easier for him here and I get the weekend off from dog walking. Hopefully, this weekend will not entail some ridiculous plumbing disaster and perhaps some snooty plumber will deign to discuss replacing the temporary holding tank that we installed. I haven’t told the dogs, yet, but they’re going to the groomer this morning.
And, thankfully, I am not in sales! :rofl2:
Sue P, Tea Cheers…… watch out :pup: 😉
Hi, Druid.
If you don’t regularly look at Lincoln Karim’s Palemale site, today’s photos are of one of this year’s hawk babies as he/she frolics in Washington Square Park. Really nice photos:

How Soupy got HIS name:
Soupy got his unusual nickname from his family. His older brothers had been nicknamed “Hambone” and “Chicken Bone”; young Milton was dubbed “Soup Bone,” which was later shortened to “Soupy.” When he became a disc jockey, he began using the stage name “Soupy Hines.” After he became established, it was decided that “Hines” sounded too close to Heinz, a company who make a range of soups, and so Soupy chose the surname “Sales” after comedian Chic Sale.

I assume Supman is pronounced Soopman.

Sen. Chris Dodd has a petition on his website against amnesty for the telecoms. As Harry Reed is blathering about removing Dodd’s hold on the bill, it would be good to get him some signatures:
http://action.chrisdodd.com/signUp.jsp?key=1570
The Senate panel agreed to telecom immunity after receiving from the administration long-requested documents outlining the legal justifications of Bush’s post-9/11 warrantless surveillance scheme. Their bill is meant to provide narrow grants of immunity to companies that facilitated the then-illegal survellance between Sept. 11, 2001, and January 2007, when the president’s so-called Terrorist Surveillance Program received FISA court authorization.
Interestingly, approval of the measure coincides with a massive increase in donations from the country’s top telecom companies to Intelligence Chairman Jay Rockefeller (D-WV), as noted by Wired’s Ryan Singel

CNN is reporting that 88% of those voting in their Friday morning online poll say there is no reason Rep. Pete Stark (D-CA) should apologize for remarks blasting President Bush on the floor of the House of Representatives.
In the course of debate on expanding SCHIP funding, Stark told Congressional Republicans, “You don’t have money to fund the war or children. But you’re going to spend it to blow up innocent people, if we could get enough kids to grow old enough for you to send to Iraq to get their head’s blow off for the president’s amusement.”

Comcast blocks some Internet traffic
Tests confirm data discrimination by number 2 U.S. service provider
NEW YORK – Comcast Corp. actively interferes with attempts by some of its high-speed Internet subscribers to share files online, a move that runs counter to the tradition of treating all types of Net traffic equally.
The interference, which The Associated Press confirmed through nationwide tests, is the most drastic example yet of data discrimination by a U.S. Internet service provider. It involves company computers masquerading as those of its users.

Allegations that a Syrian envoy admitted during a United Nations meeting Oct. 17 that an Israeli air strike hit a nuclear facility in September are inaccurate and have raised the ire of some in the US intelligence community, who see the Vice President’s hand as allegedly being behind the disinformation.

Press The Meat might actually be worth watching this Sunday. Kartoffelkopf will be greeting best-selling author, newly-announced presidential candidate and favorite son of South Carolina, Stephen Colbert. Much truthiness should ensue. 😀
Seriously, I’d love to see Colbert go after Russert the way Jon Stewart sliced up Tweety on the Daily Show a couple of weeks ago. Or, for that matter, the way Colbert himself sliced up Chimpy at the correspondents’ dinner last year. I’m sure he’s there primarily to plug the book, but you never know.
Druid, it’s nice to see Dodd gets it. Now, if only a few more of them get the idea that they need to stand up to the Rethugs.
I’d love to see Colbert tear up Mr. Potatohead, but Timmuh will probably just do a fluff piece. If Timmy tries his usual shit, though, Colbert will tear him apart (and Russethead will never “get” it).
I sent Dodd some money, today. I want to encouage him. I’d like to see Biden stand up – and Obama. How about Hillary doing something ballsy? Time for all of them to figure out that they’re the opposition!
I think Dodd should publicly chastise his CT Senate partner, and then I’ll get behind him (not in a Larry Craig kinda way – not that there’s anything wrong with that – but in terms of supporting his candidacy).
Good grief, I’m going to have to watch Russert. I hope Colbert makes him look like the mealy mouthed fool he is.
San Francisco: Will you join Sen. Chris Dodd’s hold and proposed filibuster on any FISA bill that includes retroactive immunity for telecoms? Thanks for joining us for this chat today, Sen. Biden, and thanks for the leadership you provide the Democratic Party and America.
Sen. Joe Biden: Yes.

Senator Dodd’s campaign communications director Hari Sevugan tells me that $150,000 in small contributions have poured into Dodd’s campaign in the past 24 hours, since his announcement that he will put a hold on–and may even filibuster–a foreign intelligence surveillance bill approved yesterday by the Senate Intelligence Committee. Dodd objects to a provision that would grant immunity to the telecommunications companies that turned over their customers’ phone and e-mail records to the government’s warrantless surveillance program. The companies have been hit with 40 pending lawsuits charging them with privacy violation.
Dodd has raised more small-dollar contributions in the last 24 hours than he did in the previous month. Sevugan also says the number of visits to his website is up tenfold, as is the number of people registering their e-mail addresses there

Pelosi rebukes Representative Stark
WASHINGTON—House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco has rebuked her fellow Bay Area Democratic Representative Pete Stark for inflammatory comments he made about the war.
Stark accused Republicans Thursday of sending troops to Iraq to, as the congressman put it, “get their heads blown off for the president’s amusement.”
Republicans responded with outrage and demanded that Stark apologize—which he didn’t.
In a statement late Friday Pelosi said that Stark’s comments—made during a debate on children’s health care—were, in her words, “inappropriate and distracted from the seriousness of the subject at hand.”

Did Rhodes ever explain how the sidewalk got in her face ?? :tap: :tap:
She said something about going outside for a smoke and then she woke up on the ground but I didn’t hear her say why she fell. Did she trip? Did she faint? ??
I think it’s pizza night. I wish my favorite pizza place delivered. But it’s so good they don’t have to. 😀
Randi said she doesn’t know whether someone pushed her or she fainted only that she hit the ground with her face and didn’t try to break the fall with her hands. She said she hadn’t eaten all day.
Our plumber search was finally successful. One came over and said he’d do the work during the week. Attached as I am to having running water, this is very good news.
I never had a problem with getting the plumber to come out just with rationalizing his bill for doing so. :tap: 😮
Randi was watching football at a sports bar, said she hadn’t eaten all day, went outside to smoke a cigarette, and fell face first into a grate. Never drink on an empty stomach.
Randi said she doesn’t know whether someone pushed her or she fainted only that she hit the ground with her face and didn’t try to break the fall with her hands. She said she hadn’t eaten all day.
That sounds like the days of the ‘lude’.
I feel badly for her whatever the reason but WTF was Elliott thinking? He pretty much set this whole thing in motion that is giving the a**holes on the right a chance to have a field day while S-CHIP and FISA and telecom amnesty and more are happening.
I think it may be time to really dismantle AAR and move on. I think Maddow is moving on anyway and the good that is left can find a better home elsewhere.
Randi emailed AAR and told them she was mugged. She didn’t know what happened. Elliot picked up the mugging story.
Liberal Talk radio wrote all about Randi etc.
http://ltradio.blogspot.com/
I think Sam is going to be paired with Cenk = Great Radio.
Even Randi did say she felt that “simply” fainting would not truly cause the ferociousness of the “fall”.
He said an off-handed remark and people responded like ME… someone came over here to this site to advise me that Elliot was saying the same thing as I was.
I do not trust the LIARS and who have “outed” Plame, War Heros, and “whisleblowers of ALL kinds. So easy it is just to introduce the “element of fear”…. :pirate: A!I!V! …If Everyone Cared … Nickelback
I am listening to this site but keeps breaking up :smack:
Advertising & the End of the World
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bdpucXyZNCM
Elliott picked it up but ran way too far with it :tinfoil: . I had some hope that Randi was being quiet because of an ongoing investigation but now it seems like she just doesn’t want to talk about it for whatever reason. Now all I have to say is it isn’t very often that Randi does not want to talk about something. If Elliott had kept his yap shut, she wouldn’t be in the position she is now. Another AAR host who I will never be able to trust anymore.
I just feel it was “part of the whole”: I felt it prior to Elliot. He heard of the mugging — but He even said ALL was just conjecture.
People “went to that mindset” without Elliot.
Now I should stop since i think this is just a good debate and exchange of “thoughts” but others think “a fight :slap: “, so you get to restate you beliefs. 😉
5 YEARS later I get to respond :fustrate: :dancers: of :reaper: A!I!V! … Now what happened to…”For What It’s Worth”?
I expect truthfulness and accuracy and substantiation as much as humanly possible. It is important to me and if I can’t rely on it, I will not waste my time. That’s my bargain with someone I will listen to. For others if it sounds good and plausible and fits the agenda, it’s cool even if it is playing fast and loose with or manipulating the facts. I won’t bother with someone like Wayne Madsen (sp?), for example because although he might present something valid, his information is unreliable. Many cling to and quote him because they like his version of the ‘truthiness’.
I don’t so much mind Hartmann being boring or ineffectual but I stopped listening to him because I caught him on numerous occasions being dishonest or making crap up that sounded good or fit his train of thought or helped him avoid admitting there was something about which he did not know everything.
Elliott’s speculation was reckless and spurred a lot of pronouncements that many ran with that they probably wish they could take back. It has been widely used to discredit and distract kinda like the Rather deal. It may have been 98% correct but the screw up blew up the whole story.
As far as I am concerned, there is no debate.
pj, some mook posted this in Sedertown yesterday.
