Finally, it’s Saturday. Weekends are too damn short, but I really need this one to unwind and try and get my shit together. It’s supposed to be nice and cool here today, with maybe a little rain. That sounds pretty good to me. Maybe I’ll even go back to bed.
Later, of course, two of my former schools “clash” on the gridiron. Yes, it’s the heavily anticipated Buffalo vs. Syracuse football game. I have a friend – a fellow ex-projectionist and SU alum (he was even a member of the SU basketball pep band known as the Sour Citrus Society) – who’s supposed to be in town today, and wants to catch the game. I don’t know how to tell him I really, really don’t wanna spend $35 to watch – at best – a boring game. And at worst, SU actually losing to Buffalo, which is a disgustingly real possibility this year.
Yeah, I think a nap sounds like a better idea.
Wow, pretty late, FIRST! Are there any hangovers out there? :smack:
I just woke up.
Had to let dogs out and feed everybody, including hubbby who wanted breakfast in bed, :smack:
Vernon, I thought about your complaint that AAR hosts are not always accurate and I agree, they’re not, but in fairness they are pretty much on the money most of the time. They don’t have ridiculous talking points that they repreat ad nauseum all day long.
The most important thing that AAR does is bring liberals together.
The reich’s spiel is that everyone agrees with them. They are America and if there is no other voice, it sounds plausible.
AAR has pissed me off many times, but I support them because I know what it was like before they came around. Could they be better? Absolutely! Hope springs eternal.
Blackwater USA tried to take at least two Iraqi military aircraft out of Iraq two years ago and refused to give the planes back when Iraqi officials sought to reclaim them, according to a congressional committee investigating the private security contractor.
Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, wants the company to provide all documents related to the attempted shipment and to explain where the aircraft are now.
In a letter sent Friday to Erik Prince, Blackwater’s top executive, Waxman said he learned of the 2005 attempt from a military official who contacted the committee. That official is not identified in the letter, nor is the type of aircraft.

Well, I hoped this was done last night but just to respond. By “no debate” I meant just what you said, WD6MsA, I demand a commitment to truth, provable facts and credibility. Call me old fashioned or forced wave. You and others have a less rigid threshold and feel it is acceptable. To each their own.
The Randi/Elliott episode bears me out a little. Apparently Jon took a two sentence e-mail from Randi saying that she had been mugged and couldn’t come to work and created a whole nuther story. Maybe it was what went through the minds of many but that does not meet the smell test for someone in his position to make such conjectures without better information. I recommend Elliott call Riley for some tips about AAR hall encounter evasion because I doubt he wants to run into RR anytime soon.
Look at what it set in motion and just like the Rather memo it opened the door for the other side to use it in the ongoing concerted effort to discredit and ridicule everything from anyone to the left of LIEber, AAR, progressive media and writers and the blogosphere. Too bad but unfortunately they control many loud instruments to a much larger audience to trumpet their call.
SueP, yue ex post factomega 😀 , I agree that mostly they are ‘on the money’, figuratively, and they do actually correct and apologize when proven otherwise unlike the other side. I do wish they would just take down AAR the network and rebuild something else in its place. Maybe the Greens should have re-branded the whole thing in the first place with something other than AAR 2.0. I think AAR is in decline and it sure ain’t no network but merely a syndicator since its show carriage is slap dash across the nation. Progressive stations are now built on a mixture of AAR, other shows and local. Much as I like to poke at FatHeaddie, I think he is correct to say that station ownership is a better course than a ‘network’ that keeps blowing off its feet.
I, too, am sorry to agree with Fat Heady, that station ownership is the way to go. No doubt that is behind the lated Bushco. thrust to allow ownership of more stations, in the same market, by one entity.
I agree, too, that AAR started better than it is now.
But, it is what we have. We need to push them to make it better. But, we need them.
I like that ex post factomega! Ad Vernomen, Bonum rem!

Not me. I was a lightweight last night so that I could get up and out to work on my Halloween costume. Checked my mail this morning, but didn’t have time to blog. I’m in between trips, about to head back out in search of hair coloring.
Yes, it’s the heavily anticipated Buffalo vs. Syracuse football game.
For those of you not into college football, PJ is being seriously sarcastic. Anyone who bets on this game receives an immediate trip to a Gamblers Anonymous meeting.
But sadly, PJ is correct about Syracuse possibly running into trouble. Buffalo is usually the doormat of the MAC, but since Temple was admitted they have assumed the doormat role, and Buffalo has actually won some games.
Akron is guaranteed not to lose this weekend. Yes, the Zips are idle.
TeaCheers WD6MsA here:rofl2: Cute. I like that. reminds me of WVMC3D :rofl2:
I just wrote a WONDERFUL response to “The Debate” but I just LOST ALL, as I was trying to COPY :omg: :knit2: :rant1: :fustrate:
and I HAVE to finish certain things, but I WILL BE answering as much as I can remember — since what I wrote WAS TERRIFFIC
and is the ONLY WAY (not).
But it started off with me being A Literalist.
I was there and heard how this unfolded, gave the facts (“just the facts m’am”), then my “OPINION”.
So first of all, I care not if you were there or weren’t except to really hear how this came to be. The rest is just one’s own opinion. I listen about rush, annC., bill o’Liely, and MANY OTHERS, then why can’t one of ours get “taken A BIT” by callers.
So first, is the info based on Facts, Conjecture, or Gossip?
I am working on a few other things, but WILL ALWAYS CHECK BACK. for :tap: The Debate 😉
So who was there? Part One.
Also, I said I spoke THE MASS in Latin when I was 6. BUT I NEVER LEARNED LATIN :tap: (now i feel like a failure) not even SPANISH :tap: (now I really feel like a failure)…. and before 108 at least Spanish :rant1: oh I’m 108 NOW

And I barely learned A MASS in a language, now long lost. I knew French enough to forget the year I learned (it helped a wee bit…when dated a French Dentist, who was here lecturing aeons ago) and Gaelic enough to forget, but I made great “word” cards…….and what other worthless and waste of time languages … OOOHHHHHHHH
Tibetan (read and write — a wee bit) ) and can read a tad of Sanskrit both saying the same RELIGIOUS PRAYER TEXT……. :dancers: A!I!V!

Nearly a year after voters made the Garden City a little greener by asking county law enforcement to ignore adult marijuana offenses, Missoula’s top prosecutor has adopted an official policy to uphold the referendum.
“In the interest of compliance with the 2006 voter initiative on marijuana … we are asking law enforcement officers to stop arresting individuals or writing and submitting tickets (with mandatory appearance dates) where the offense committed is solely possession of marijuana in misdemeanor amounts or possession of drug paraphernalia intended for use of marijuana,†according to a draft of the policy by Missoula County Attorney Fred Van Valkenburg, an outspoken opponent of the measure.

Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney narrowly won a Republican presidential straw poll of Christian conservatives on Saturday, while Rudy Giuliani persuaded few to look past his support of abortion rights.
The poll at a summit of self-styled values voters was largely symbolic but highlighted the continuing failure of ardent anti-abortion social conservatives to rally behind a single Republican candidate in the 2008 White House race.
Romney took 27.6 percent of almost 6,000 votes cast, just ahead of Mike Huckabee, the folksy former governor of Arkansas, who gained 27.1 percent at the conference organized by the Family Research Council.
Maverick Texas Congressman Ron Paul was third with almost 15 percent while former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson got under 10 percent, a major disappointment for his campaign.
Giuliani was eighth with 107 votes — under 2 percent.

A long-running dispute between a weekly newspaper in Phoenix and law enforcement officials took a series of sharp turns over the last two days, including the arrest of the newspaper owners, followed by the dismissal of charges against them and an investigation into their paper.
For years, prosecutors in Maricopa County weighed whether to take the rare step of charging the leaders of the paper, The Phoenix New Times, with a crime for publishing an article with the home address of Sheriff Joe Arpaio of Maricopa County. This week, that conflict abruptly escalated.
On Thursday, the newspaper accused the authorities of abuses of power in their investigation into The New Times, reporting that a prosecutor had obtained a subpoena for the Internet browsing records on thousands of its readers.
On Thursday night, the two principal owners, Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin, were arrested and charged with illegally disclosing the inner workings of a grand jury, a misdemeanor.
But by late afternoon yesterday, it was all over. The owners were free, the charges against them were dropped, and the underlying investigation ended.

Well, horrible as SU is, at least they managed to beat Buffalo. Actually, Buffalo kinda beat themselves, but we’ll take it.
Hey Kevin, what are you gonna be for Halloween? I’m trying to decide if I want to be a Peacenik :jesus: , complete with bleeding heart and Mardi Gras type peace mask or “A memory of myself” from my goth period in highschool. It would be easy to recreate right now because my hair is pretty much the same right now as in high school. I just gotta find some black pointy boots and a couple of crucifix’s and I’m good! :reaper: BOO!
im gonna be a redneck republican truck driver for halloween :omg: scary costume i know

we do what we must because we can
for the good of all of us except for the ones who are dead
but there’s no sense crying over every mistake
you just keep on trying until you run out of cake
and the science gets done and you make a neat gun
for the people who are still alive
I’m not even angry
I’m being so sincere right now
even though you broke my heart and killed me
and torn into pieces
and threw every piece into a fire
as they burned it hurt because I was so happy for you!
Now these points of data make a wonderful line
and we’re out of beta, we’re releasing on time
so I’m glad I got burned
Think of all the things we learned for the people that are still alive
go ahead and leave me
I think I prefer to stay inside
maybe you’ll find someone else to help you
maybe black mesa
that was a joke, haha, fat chance
anyway this cake is great, it’s so delicious and moist
look at me still talking, when there’s science to do
when I look out there it makes me glad I’m not you
I’ve experiments to run, there is research to be done
on the people who are still alive
and believe me I am still alive
I’m doing science and I’m still alive
I feel FANTASTIC and I’m still alive
While you are dying I’ll be still alive
and when you’re dead I’ll be still alive
STILL ALIVE, still alive
