Nice day yesterday. Beautiful blue sky, and red, yellow, orange leaves on the trees. A bit to warm for my tastes, but no too bad. Unfortunately, it’s back to work again today. A damn shame; I could use another day (or two) off.

If anyone knows who won Sunday morning on Press The Meat, don’t tell me. I taped it last night and hope to watch it tonight. Or maybe later in the week, now that I don’t have to bother watching the World Series. Fuck the Indians. I know they weren’t supposed to make it this far in the first place, but it still sucks that they caved like that.
Sorta like some Democrats we all know. :fu:
I seen you about an hour and 1/2 … well Tankard of Tea Cheers ..
I was on the Turks, but I couldn’t hear him…..so weird but cool yet weird topic :rofl2: …how’s your day going? A!I!V! :dancers:

Now that’s what I call World Series weather.
I know your gonna love it, fred. I like the Rocks v. the Sox (esp. that right wing blood sock Schilling) so look for a whole heap of chilly depression around there in a week or two. I am known for picking the losers.
Fox Brings on Country Singer Charlie Daniels as an Expert on FISA
Last August, when Fox’s “premiere business news” show had MTV’s Kurt Loder on as an expert on universal health care and taxes, I thought Fox had reached the bottom in terms of treating its audience like complete idiots. I was wrong. Today (October 17, 2007), Fox brought on country music singer Charlie Daniels as an expert on FISA and eavesdropping.

From the New York Times, 8/4/01:
For the past two months Rudolph Giuliani has been coming home at night to one of the happiest marriages in New York.
That’s how long the mayor, in flight from his own marital wreckage at Gracie Mansion, has been a frequent sleepover guest at the home of Howard Koeppel and his partner, Mark Hsiao. Mr. Koeppel, who is 64, is a Queens car dealer who has been both a close friend and prodigious fund-raiser of Mr. Giuliani’s since 1989. The 41-year-old Mr. Hsiao is a Juilliard-trained pianist who works at the city’s Department of Cultural Affairs. They’ve been together almost 10 years — are registered with the city as domestic partners — and in happier times for the Giuliani marriage, double-dated with the mayor and Donna Hanover on New Year’s Eve. Now they are doting hosts to Mr. Giuliani as he juggles his raucous divorce, his recovery from prostate cancer treatments, his waning months in office, his romance with Judith Nathan, his post-public-life future and, last but hardly least, his search for an affordable Manhattan apartment rental of his own.
The mayor’s progressive record on gay civil rights notwithstanding, he has not endorsed same-sex marriage. But, says Mr. Koeppel, ”He did tell us that if they ever legalized gay marriages, we would be the first one he would do.” Mr. Koeppel and Mr. Hsiao are in favor of the right to marry — which, among other things, would give gay couples the same protections as heterosexual couples in legal and fiscal matters ranging from immigration and adoption rights to veterans’ and Social Security benefits.
Tony Perkins, head of the Family Research Council, told The Hill Saturday that former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R) would support a constitutional amendment banning gay marriage.
Perkins said Giuliani told him in a private meeting that if the Defense of Marriage Act appeared to be failing or if multiple states began to legalize same-sex marriages, then he would support the constitutional amendment.

The White House Monday plans to send Congress an expanded 189.3 billion dollar request for funding for military operations in Iraq, Afghanistan and the broader war on terrorism in 2008, a Pentagon spokesman said.
US Defense Secretary Robert Gates made the case for the additional war funding in congressional testimony on September 26, but Monday’s action marks the formal request with the documentation to justify it.
The request adds 42.3 billion dollars to the administration’s original 141.7 billion dollar estimate of 2008 war costs. It also includes 5.3 billion dollars that had been previously approved for mine-resistant armored vehicles known as MRAPS.

Governor-elect tackles Louisiana’s image By MELINDA DESLATTE, Associated Press Writer
Sun Oct 21, 7:27 PM ET
KENNER, La. – Changing Louisiana’s reputation for corruption would do more than just make over its image, Gov.-elect Bobby Jindal said Sunday: It could help the state attract businesses and win federal aid for hurricane recovery.
The Republican congressman, a day after his historic win in an election that featured a dozen candidates for governor, pressed ahead with his campaign pledge, saying in an interview with The Associated Press that one of his first acts will be to call a special legislative session to reform ethics laws.
“I think we’re setting the bar too low when we say, ‘Look, isn’t it great that we haven’t had a statewide elected official go to jail recently?'” Jindal said.
“The reality is there are a lot of practices that are accepted ways of doing business in Baton Rouge that are considered unethical in other parts of the country, that are considered illegal in other parts of the country,” Jindal said.
The son of immigrants on Saturday won more than 50 percent of the vote in a primary election to make him Louisiana’s first non-white governor since Reconstruction and the nation’s first Indian-American chief executive. That tally averted the need for a November runoff election.

Hope y’all will try to be at one of these demos this Saturday. I know I’ll be stuck working late in :slap: :reaper: SiCKO Land :reaper: :slap:
on Friday, so I don’t think I’ll have the energy to go. Also don’t know if there are any more bus seats available at this point. Syracuse is sending 2 busloads of people to NYC and I’m sure a number of hardy souls are driving on their own.
I’d urge anyone can make it to the Boston, Chicago, Jonesborough, Tenn., Los Angeles,
New Orleans, New York City, Orlando, Philadelphia,
Salt Lake City, San Francisco, or Seattle UFPJ demonstrations to attend :fist: We gotta keep the energy up. :fist:

– An unprecedented national survey of pilots by the U.S. government has found that safety problems like near collisions and runway interference occur far more frequently than previously recognized. But the government is withholding the information, fearful it would upset air travelers and hurt airline profits.

Hey Druid, just saw your post from last night. Yeah, e-mail with any questions you have about Shoutcast. No promises, but I’ll try and help. Just try and give me as much information about what you need to know as you can (try and give me both sides of your internal conversation). I’m not the sharpest tool in the shed, so pretend you’re talking to a dumb little kid.
