Vernon passed this along to me. Just short of two years since they killed MS (never mind Unfiltered); it makes me want to scream.
I guess this means that Lionel, Thom Hartmann, and whatever else they still have on the air are “funny and enjoyable?”
I guess it means that the few people left at AAR who do shows that are worth a damn need to update their resumes. Maybe when Rachel gets her show at MSNBC, she can hire Randi to do makeup or something.
Christy Harvey on with Cenk!   (for Christy, not Cenk)
And don’t forget Maron on Comedy Central today at noon Eastern. Go back home and set the DVR. You know you want to. Do it.

Attack Iran and you Attack Russia

THE ROVING EYE
Attack Iran and you attack Russia
By Pepe Escobar
The barely reported highlight of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s visit to Tehran for the Caspian Sea summit last week was a key face-to-face meeting with Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
A high-level diplomatic source in Tehran tells Asia Times Online that essentially Putin and the Supreme Leader have agreed on a plan to nullify the George W Bush administration’s relentless drive towards launching a preemptive attack, perhaps a tactical nuclear strike, against Iran. An American attack on Iran will be viewed by Moscow as an attack on Russia.
But then, as if this were not enough of a political bombshell, came the abrupt resignation of Ali Larijani as top Iranian nuclear negotiator. Early this week in Rome, Larijani told the IRNA news agency that “Iran’s nuclear policies are stable and will not change with the replacement of the secretary of the Supreme National Security Council .” Larijani will keep attending SNSC meetings, now as a representative of the Supreme Leader. He even took time to remind the West that in the Islamic Republic all key decisions regarding the civilian nuclear program are made by the Supreme Leader. Larijani actually went to Rome to meet with the European Union’s Javier Solana alongside Iran’s new negotiator, Saeed Jalili, a former member of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), just like President Mahmud Ahmadinejad.
In itself, the Putin-Khamenei meeting was extraordinary, because the Supreme Leader rarely receives foreign statesmen for closed talks, even one as crucial as Putin. The Russian president, according to the diplomatic source, told the Supreme Leader he may hold the ultimate solution regarding the endlessly controversial Iranian nuclear dossier. According to IRNA, the Supreme Leader, after stressing that the Iranian civilian nuclear program will continue unabated, said. “We will ponder your words and proposal.”

Another guy at AAR that is really odd is Richard Greene. He mixes in all sorts of new age and herbal and infomercial stuff in his shows to make me confused as to what his agenda is, Plus the only bumper music he plays is the same Police song over and over and over and over.
This is neither funny nor enjoyable.
Fred, Tea Cheers, I have been battling with myself as to what to do. :slap: I do like the format, but now they are looking, like most business’ of today (i.e.) for profit. I feel like a ping-pong ball, hit from one to another, which also is the metephor of today.

Monkeys, apes teeter on brink of extinction-report
Source: Reuters
BEIJING, Oct 26 (Reuters) – Mankind’s closest relatives are teetering on the brink of their first extinctions in more than a century, hunted by humans for food and medicine and squeezed from forest homes, a report on endangered primates said on Friday.
There are just a few dozen of the most threatened gibbons and langurs left, and one colobus may already have gone the way of the dodo, warned the report on the 25 most vulnerable primates.
“You could fit all the surviving members of these 25 species in a single football stadium — that’s how few of them remain on earth today,” said Russell Mittermeier, president of U.S.-based environmental group Conservation International.
Primates include great apes such as chimpanzees and gorillas, as well as smaller cousins ranging from gibbons and lemurs to monkeys. They are sought after as food, pets, or for traditional medicines, and a few are still trapped for medical research.

Fred, re 8 & 11, Nothing new here, just more fears & tears. This is why we tried so hard in the 80’s until MOST were taken to cold dark places, where one is forgotten. Yet, one listened when *told* to leave NOW and a small weird group turned all into gold and silver, went on a wild journey and wanting the wolf and hybrid to run free — to the wild they fled for 20 plus years until humanity crept closer. /|\ A!I!V! :dancers: How I remember You … Nickelback

Preznit is onTV saying that he gonna veto the new Schip bill. He’s also whining about spending….but not spending on Iraq.
Clearly he’s campaigning by complaining about congress.
:barf:
He thinks the SCHIP bill is wasting time. I guess passing a that bill about Moveon’ and Betrayus is a good use of time.
Ooh. I slept very late this morning and I wake up to this? AAR being stupid, the preznit being himself (stupid) and Russia suggesting that Chaneys dream of the World War to End the World may be around the corner.
I should have just kept sleeping.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers (D-MI) are surveying the House Democratic caucus to determine whether the caucus will support holding White House Chief of Staff Joshua Bolten and former White House Counsel Harriet Miers in contempt for ducking subpoenas in the continuing investigation into the firing of nine US attorneys.
According Bresnahan of Politico, Conyers said the contempt motion could be brought as “as early as next week,” but that Pelosi had not made a final decision on the vote, saying it would be more likely in two weeks.

Don’t hold your breath!
FEMA has truly learned the lessons of Katrina. Even its handling of the media has improved dramatically. For example, as the California wildfires raged Tuesday, Vice Adm. Harvey E. Johnson, the deputy administrator, had a 1 p.m. news briefing.
Reporters were given only 15 minutes’ notice of the briefing, making it unlikely many could show up at FEMA’s Southwest D.C. offices. They were given an 800 number to call in, though it was a “listen only” line, the notice said — no questions.

They certainly learned the lessons of Katrina!
Sam Greenfield and Armstrong Williams, the morning show hosts at WWRL (1600AM) in New York, exit the station, in a programming overhaul. The two hosted their last show yesterday.
Former Air America Radio personality Mark Riley and current WWRL nighttime host Richard Bey will take over mornings effective Monday. Program director Rennie Bishop calls the move a “creative redirection.”

OK, Druid, I can see that my cynicism is once again leaking out. Fred must be to blame! I guess there are only so many references to the SBR and so many :tommygun: that I can read before I fall under their spell.
Usually, I try to remember that my vision of Utopia just isn’t going to be and to be pleased with small moves in the right (left) direction. I guess when small becomes infinitesimal I start channeling Fred.

Hey gang! I will be pre-ordering Crysis today. I increased the ram in my machine so it should play!!
:yippee:
Sounds like a good game. If it comes out on XBox 360, I’ll have to check it. Slowly but surely making my way through Rainbow Six: Vegas. I was forced to move it to my cave in the basement, so I don’t get to play it as often as I’d like (bought some snazzy surround headphones that are pretty cool, though). I need to get an HD teevee for it one of these days.
OK I have had discussion with the cats and also listened to Bernie Sanders on Hartmann, so I am a bit less cynical.
Sander’s was fielding a number of calls from Dems who were angry at congress. He said a cynical, liberal electorate is Karl Rove’s dream and that Nancy Pelosi and Reid are working with a group of Dems whose margins are small and whose members are not all progressive. What we need to do, he said, is work to elect more progessive Dems.
So, while the Dems may not be our dream team, they’re a lot beter than Rethugs and I guess we need to work to make them more liberal the way the Reich worked to make the Rethugs more thuggish.
I’ll keep talking to the cats. They seem to be a good influence (especially if they’ve been fed.)
Crysis is going to be PC only, and here’s some more bad news.
Well, that’s the thing the “purists” need to figure out. Maybe these spineless weasels aren’t all we want them to be, but the fucking Republicans are a lot worse. So, whattya gonna do? I don’t think a third party is a viable proposition at this point. Not until the town common councils and county legislatures and state assemblies are filled with them first.
Doesn’t make me particularly happy, but one has to realize that it’s a giant leap for a wingnut to vote for even the blue-est of blue dog Democrats, never mind a real progressive.
Sometimes you just gotta take what you can get (lucky for me, my wife subscribed to that philosophy). If you can’t be with the one you love, love the one you’re with.
We’ve had plenty of rain here, lately, so I think we’re gonna be OK. Of course, when they say “Upstate NY,” they normally mean Westchester. They tend to think of us as a suburb of Canada.
Have I mentioned lately how much I love :40: ?
Once again, my wife seems to be missing. At least I have the Farscape pilot to watch on the DVR.
Ah, now she’s home.
PJ, You mean you’re NOT a suburb of Canada? We’ll have to get new maps in NYC.
If fear of a grilling by the the Reich wing media is the reason the dems are so spineless that’s something individuals can perhaps do something about.. its is unfortunate so many AAR stations are operated by Clear Channel which tends to colocate them with their Reich wing stations. :reaper: :reaper:
My hope is “the internet, yet I am a bit fearful (now) that all “around” can’t be trusted.
Although something you said Fred, is still “ringing in my ears” as I again was going to say goodbye and be gone, for fear of bringing H.S. and(blank’s) attention — however; you all here who attended College and University are beta and the Bad and subversive groups = metaphor for a play within a play = LBH :dancers: of :reaper: A!I! … If Everyone Cared … Knickelback … How You Remind Me
