Got a pair of fancy-schmancy headphones to use with the XBOX. They have eight speakers in them, have 5.1 surround sound, rumble, and even have a detachable microphone. In short, they are way cool. Better yet, they enabled me to move the XBOX down to my private little cave, where I won’t disturb or offend anybody else. The only bummer is that the teevee that I have down there is kinda small. I guess my next move is to buy a better one. I also need to move my little fridge down there, so I don’t have to go up and down for beer (although, there’s something about going up and down that seems to accentuate the buzz). I guess I’ll also need a catheter – or at least a few mayonnaise jars. There’s a floor drain fairly close by, though, so I guess that’s not a big necessity. I’d also like to get a kegging system setup for the homebrew (getting tired of dealing with the bottles), but I think that’ll have to wait a while.

No Maron to listen to today, and that’s a bummer. But at least there are a few more Sammy on Malloys to listen to. It’s amazing how well the old MS clips hold up after all this time. It’s a shame we’ll never get that back again.

It was interesting to see Janeane on Two and a Half Men the other day. It’s amazing how they were able to hide her tattoos. A nice think coat of flesh-colored spackle does the trick, I guess.

I know that a lot of people think it’s a stupid male juvenile program, (Two and a Half Men, that is) but I think it’s pretty funny most of the time, and so does my wife (who, last time I checked) is female. And very intelligent (my wife, that is, not the program; the show is not eaxctly “cerebral,” but it’s funny in a crude way.). So there (insert phpht! smilie).

I listened to an album I haven’t listened to in years last night, too. Jeff Beck’s Guitar Shop, with Terry Bozzio on drums. Great Album.

Nothing is being done.

I was gonna listen to Marc on Rachel live last night, but then I decided that would be a little too much like stalking. So, I’ll opt to listen to the podcast today some time. I did catch the S&M show at work yesterday, though. Despite the technical difficulties, I thought it was a great show. It’s a shame these guys can’t have a regular show that I can watch and/or listen to on a regular basis, w/o having to do it at work. It’s one thing to listen to a podcast at work while pretending you’re paying attention to whatever it is you’re supposed to be doing, but sitting there and watching video kind of blows the illusion entirely. Oh well, whattya gonna do?

I’m not much in the mood to get back to work today. At least I can listen to the podcast of last night’s RM show with Marc subbing. Otherwise, I can’t much think if anything good.

Yeah, I know, Columbus was an asshole. A scam artist and religious zealot willing to kill as many people as it took in order to bring about the rapture. He’d have made a good Republican. But, you gotta give him one thing. He somehow got credit for “discovering” a place that not only had other Europeans already been there first, but there happened to be millions of human beings already living there at the time. Plus, the dumb fuck thought he was in Asia. And now he gets a holiday named after him. Go figure. But, what the hell. A day off is a day off.

This is better than a usual Sunday, since I don’t have to go to work tomorrow. Otherwise, it’s pretty much bidness as usual.

On Press the Meat, Timmy Potatohead should look even uglier than usual this week, as he hosts John Edwards. Then it’s one of the lamest roundtables ever, with David Brody from the Jesus channel, David Broder from whatever fantasy world he lives in these days, the insipid Margaret Carlson, and fellow SU alum, Ted Koppel. Then Jay Barbree takes a look back at Sputnik.

At CBS, Faze the Nation has Charlie Rangel, but it’s all downhill from there, as the other guests include some Florida wingnut congressman named Adam Putnam, asshole Tony Perkins (not the good one), from the “Family Research Council,” and Roger Simon of the ever-incorrect Politico.com.

On Fux News Sunday, Weaselface Wallace has Nancy Pelosi, on to talk about what the Democrats will cave in to Bush on next, and Hillary’s Campaign Manager, Patti Solis Doyle. Plus the usual Fux News meatheads, including Bill O’Reilly’s BFF, Juan Williams.

On the Goebbels network, George Snufalufagus has Bill Richardson, and then HHS Secretary Michael Leavitt will be on to tell us why it’s a good thing that Bush hates children, while NJ Gov. Jon Corzine tells us why sick kids without insurance really isn’t a good thing. At the roundtable, it’ll be Katrina vanden Heuvel, surrounded by Jay Carney-Shipman, Claire Shipman-Carney and of course, George :jerk: Will.

At the Crappy News Network, Wolf Blitzer’s Late Emission included some guy named Talibani from Iraq (he’s, like, the “President” or something”), Sudanese Foreign Minister Lam Akol, Bill Clinton’s Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, Susan Rice, human rights activist John Prendergast, and the one, the only, Mr. Andrea Mitchell himself, Alan Greenspan.

Later, on 60 Minutes, it’s The Boss, interviewed by Scott Pelley. Steve Kroft talks to Interpol’s secretary general, Ron Noble. Lesley Stahl reports on how DNA is being used to trace family ancestry, and Morley Safer does a story on Forrest Bird’s, who invented the respirator.

Enjoy your Sunday.

Y’all haven’t been posting much lately. I think you need to try just a little bit harder.

At some point today, we’ll probably hit 300,000 visitors since December 14, 2005. Not exactly Yahoo-type traffic, but not bad for a small cult following of a defunct radio show (actually, two defunct radio shows, and a more or less defunct radio network). Things have slowed down quite a bit since the early days, of course, but what the hell; we’re still here. We don’t give up easy. John Kerry could learn a lot from us.

Happy Friday!

Back in 1975 – right around this time of year, as I recall – the NY Daily News ran the headline, “Ford to City: Drop Dead.” I’d like to see them run a new headline today: “Bush to Kids: Fuck You.” They won’t, of course. For one thing, William J. Brink is dead. And “screw you” might be a bit more likely, but they won’t run that, either. It would be nice if the Democrats would press that point – that Bush hates kids, and values insurance company profits above kids getting healthcare. Maybe they will, and maybe the traditional media will get that message out. But I doubt it. It’s pretty fucking disgusting, if you ask me. If we can’t ensure that every American can have healthcare, can’t we at the very least make sure every kid in this country gets it? I guess not. There might be a loss of profit.

Got this new XBOX game I tried to play last night. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. Looks really cool, and the voice of the King is Patrick Stewart. It has spells casting and all this other nifty shit. Unfortunately, I can’t for the life of me figure out how to do anything with it. I suppose it’ll come with time. Maybe. I’m kind of an old fart, and this shit doesn’t come automatically to me, the way it does with the young folks. I may just have to call in sick for a few days, to figure it all out.

So, I was watching this movie on Sundance last night called Adam & Paul. The description reads, “Two addicts encounter lowlifes while trying to find drugs in Dubin, Ireland,” so it appealed to me on several different levels. Just a funny goddamn movie. I love the way the Irish say fuck. “Fook.” And there’s a lot of fookin’ sayin’ fook in this fookin’ movie, let me tell ya. Plus, the one addict sounded just like the guy in the wheelchair from Little Britain.

Of course, like any move about addicts, it’s ultimately very sad, too. I don’t know if there’s anything more sad than what addiction does to people. I’ve, personally, known some excellent people destroyed by it. I count myself lucky that I wasn’t destroyed by addiction or compulsion or whatever you want to call it. I never quite became addicted to anything (not physically, anyway, except for cigarettes, which aren’t good for you, of course, but they are legal). Shows you what a stupid system we have.

Anyhow, have a good fookin’ Wednesday.

Oh, and fook Bush! And Cheney, go fook yourself.

Back to my least favorite location today. Even worse, I have to attend a “meeting,” which, thanks to my rotating schedule, I’ve managed to miss for at least a couple of months now. Pretty much sucks. And it’ll be during the Marc and Sam show (which I really can’t watch at work anyway). Tuesday mornings at 11:00 just don’t do it for me. I’m such a lousy stalker.
