So, Rudy’s pal Bernie got indicted. Looks like John Edwards will be endorsed by “Iowans for Sensible Priorities,” which is apparently a big deal in Iowa. I’d really like to see Edwards take Iowa. That would shake things up a bit, and hopefully he could go on a roll from there. I honestly think he’d make the best candidate for the Democrats. Better than the other two out of three “top tier” ones, that’s for sure.

Druid, that’s a terrible story about your kitten.
My vet thinks that orange male cats are a special and wonderful breed of beings who are smart and incredibly adept at relating to people. She had a client who had many orange cats on his farm. Every time one of his many many cats had kittens, she’d spay the mom and find homes for the whole family. She says she has finally spayed the last one. (We shall see).
My two orange cats, Clifford and his sister Rosie, are part of that farm family. I must admit Clifford is quite a cat and is definitely top cat, even holding sway over the dogs around here.
My mom, source of all kinds of superstitions, says that if you have an orange cat you will get rich. This has not proven to be true. Hope spring sternal, though.

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – Pakistani police placed opposition leader Benazir Bhutto under house arrest Friday, uncoiling barbed wire in front of her Islamabad villa, and reportedly rounding up thousands of her supporters to block a mass protest against emergency rule.
The United States called for the restrictions on Bhutto to be lifted, saying it was “crucial for Pakistan’s future that moderate political forces work together to bring Pakistan back on the path to democracy.” A government spokesman promised she would be free by Saturday.
Bhutto twice tried to leave in her car on Friday, telling police: “Do not raise hands on women. You are Muslims. This is un-Islamic.” They responded by blocking her way with an armored vehicle.
The former prime minister had planned to defy a ban on political gatherings and address a rally in nearby Rawalpindi, where police used tear gas and batons to chase off hundreds of supporters who staged wildcat protests and hurled stones. More than 100 were arrested.

The city mayor said they had reports suicide bombers might attack the rally. Deputy Information Minister Tariq Azim said there was a restraining order against Bhutto, telling her to stay at her Islamabad home and not proceed to Rawalpindi because of the security threat.

The unemployment rate is not 4.7 percent it is more like 12 to 16 percent. Most social services people would back that up but being politically active and a city or state employee violates the Hatch act. and religious organizations fear the IRS and both groups have for the most part have tired of the endless slamming of the rethugs while they provide naive and most often unobtainable solutions….
