So, I’m catching up on my teevee again. Catching up on Olbermann, to be more specific, and I’m watching last night’s show (I think it was last night’s show; I watched a bunch in a row. But anyways….
So I’m watching, and they do a story on Obama. He says that Hillary Clinton being fucked up is a “generational thing.” That “that gerneration” (sounds a lot like “those people” to me) is still fighting the battles they fought 40 years ago, and it makes it “difficult” for them to compromise on shit.
Exsqueeze me!?!!?? Difficult to compromise? Do you have any idea whatsofuckingever what we’ve already had to compromise on, you little punk?
First, music sucks today, compared to what it used to. I’m not saying there isn’t still good music – but it’s lot fewer and farther between these days. Worst, I think, is radio. Used to be some good radio stations on FM in the olden days. Now, everything pretty much sucks (at least in my neck of the woods – we are, after all, in the Provinces up here). But anyway, I’m sick of all this shitty music on the radio.
Next, we are the children of people who fought in the big war. The “right” war. The “necessary” war. And they won. Our parents were the Jedi. Well, my parents were. Some people’s parents (who shall remain nameless) fought for the Empire. You can’t hold it against them, though. They were just doing what they had to do to get by. Same as I am. Thank god I haven’t had to make any really tough decisions or sacrifices so far. I’d like to think I’d stand up if push came to shove, but of course you never really know until you get faced with a situation just how you’ll react. I’m a hero in my mind’s eye, but you waterboard me, I’ll give it up (or make it up) before you even get the water turned on. Anyhow…
We went from having hero parents to being suckers in Vietnam (not me, personally, since I’m too young, but my brother had the honor of serving his country in Vietnam, and I certainly remember the daily body counts on the Today Show – back when it was an actual news program), to witnessing the disbanding of our system of government. No more co-equal branches of government. No more elections. No more civil rights (regardless of color; the irony may well be that we finally all get treated equally regardless of race, color or creed, — unfortunately that just means that we all get spied on, and have an equal opportunity to get tossed into Guantanamo and tortured), no more free and open society (to the extent that we had one, anyway). No more America.
Look, Barack. Let me ‘splain it to you. It’s not that the baby boomers are reluctant to compromise. It’s that we’ve been forced to fucking compromise far too much already, and there’s nowhere left to go. It’s time to quit compromising with the evil corporate bastards that have pushed our country and our way of life to the brink of destruction. We need somebody that will stand up to these people, and quit giving away our rights.
That may not be Hillary, but it’s becoming increasingly clear it isn’t you, either, pal. You’re just the same-old, same-old — a slightly newer model of the calculating, posturing, and, yes, compromising weasels that got us here in the first place.
Could be good news, Kevin.
If anybody’s got a hankering for a Wowwee Roboquad Interactive Robot, today’s Woot is for you.

I gave up on Obama months ago. I am not looking for the perfect candidate because there is none. Besides the perfect candidate for me may not be the same for you.
I want a Democrat who will not veto health insurance legislation, will not invade countries pre-emptively and who won’t turn us into a medieval fiefdom ruled by a vindictive idiot king.
As for fighting the old fight: we haven’t won it yet. We still don’t have civil rights for everyone and a government for whom the welfare of the governed is their concern. Exactly what fight is Obama Fighting?

China has suspended exports of the Aqua Dots toys contaminated with a chemical that can convert to a powerful “date rape” drug, the state-run Xinhua news agency reported Saturday. The toys have caused some children who swallowed the craft toys to vomit and lose consciousness.

I’m sure, if these things were sold at Walmart, that Walmart will follow its usual practice and leave them on the shelves. So if you have any desire to knock your toddler out or rape a semi comatose person, Walmart is your source. :yuck:
I taught two of Mailer’s grandchildren. Both were very bright and very nice. Mailer, who lived in the neighborhood, would come into the schoolyard once in a while to talk to his grandkids.
They were a nice family and I always appreciated that they supported the public schools.
Cooled on Obama a long time ago. Sadly. And you thought Hillary was equivocating. Maybe he is there to make her look good.
Music and radio is a mess but there is a lot of stuff out there, just not easy one stop shopping. Maybe someday Sediton Music Radio.
Always better when you add the :40: & :bong: and it all goes to help you remain an IM easing oblivious through life.
This bud’s for you.

Radio sucks here too. It’s all homogenized, play the same 20 songs all day long, pap. And throughout the years a few independant radio stations have come and gone. They don’t last long. There’s probably the same amount of good music out there, it’s just that they don’t get air time like the crap does, over and over. Seattle had some good radio stations but I was surprised that Portland didn’t. They have KBOO which is a good community radio station and they would have some good music shows. They used to have a show on Monday nights that would play all 60’s garage punk favorites. But the days of dj’s choosing the music probably started going away in the 70’s. Is that right Vern? I wish I could get some of the internet radio stations on terrestrial radio. I love the lounge station SomaFM and some of the reggae ones and there’s still college radio stations like KANM(Texas A & M).
:omg: You can get music on the radio :omg: :omg:
Here in the land of the IDIOT MORON there are hardly any AM stations playing music in English at least .they are all sports talk, news talk, hate talk and religious babble stations. Several of the FM stations broadcast the local TV news from different stations then have high school sports on . :yuck: I think you can still get classical music and opera on FM too 😮 :yuck: The stations with any power out put tend to have assorted :crap: on :reaper: :reaper:
And how many classic rock stations does a city really need?? :jerk: I’ve been hearing Led Zeppelin and all the other crap my whole damned life, as if there wasn’t any other music being made at that time.
K’pea,
Yes, those days are over. Probably attributable to the dereg of ownership that made our airwaves a high stakes commodity. Stations that once had local ownership suddenly became worth millions of dollars and the willingness to leave a free thinking and creative radio personality in control of the programming for three or four hours became untenable. As FatHeaddie likes to say, it is all about ownership.
You can only find that now on college radio or non-commercial stations or public/Pacifica radio that offers various music programs but you have to have a timer or social secretary to keep track of shows you like to hear.
We are lucky around some parts of the Bay Area to have KPIG that still operates on the free form principle.
:rofl2: They tried this before with a western themed park. By the time I moved here in 1983 it was a dilapitated, sleazy theme park that was dead in the summer. And lets make sure we spray lots of water into the air with fountains and misters. Damn! We are such a wasteful species aren’t we? :smack:
Doesn’t the industrial association that protects the music distributors from copyright abuse make the radio stations pay a fee every time they play a song off a CD ❓ ❓ If so that might account for why you always hear music that was originally only available on vinyl. :reaper: :reaper:
A health insurance company serving customers in a half-dozen states set out to drop hundreds of customers and paid lucrative bonuses to an executive in charge of eliminating coverage.
One customer is suing the company, Health Net Inc., after a company salesman pressured her to switch to a Health Net plan only for the company to cut-off her coverage in the middle of costly cancer treatment.

Another example of the “best healthcare in the world”
radio stations, TV?
i dumped anything with a corporate base in the late 60’s.
CBC 1 and 2 are worth listening to occasionally but with modern players and the net theres a world of options.
Too many options, it seems, sometimes 😮 It’s hard to figure out what kind of system is right for your listening convenience and pleasure these days. :fustrate:
Eya Jim! :bee: :peace:
eya Kristapea!
good to read ya!
i just load whatevers available
and listen to it. mostly bluegrass lately.
most of my players are 12 volters so it’s no biggie.
i make a lot of music myself and love to play with people.
In my neck of the woods, music radio is in very good shape. Got the MPR-supported The Current, the local university AM Radio-K, community radio Fresh Air, college free-form KVSC, and wild card XM satellite. Then on-line WFMU which is the be-all end-all IMO. This is a far cry from the nadir of radio in the 80’s and 90’s.
Mike Malloy got “beat up” last night by Bill O’Reilly. Lots of the +72 age bracket are coming out in droves to attack Malloy on various comment blogs:
http://www.haloscan.com/comments/newshounds/13239
Malloy referred to violent fantasies he had in regard to Snotty Scotty McLelland and now Dana “too much capuccino” Perrino
re #16 It does not matter whether the music is on an LP or CD or 78, a fee is supposed to be paid for public performance of copyrighted material since it is intellectual property. It is not supposed to be free which is why we probably won’t see Seditionist Music Radio.
Funny that I had lunch yesterday with a friend who does indie radio promo for Adult Album Alternative (Triple A) radio and much of that on a terrestrial level has moved to non-commercial. As I said, there is a lot of good programming in some places but it is hard to go to just one source for it. At one time in major cities you could go to single station and find what you liked. There would be a variety of formats offered. Then the big consolidation and money game made it so almost everyone was pursuing the same demographic which is why no chances get taken and everything sounds the same.
Could be good news, Kevin.

This woman is a mess, mostly because of her fatal attraction to this idiot. But maybe if they lock him up, it will inspire her to write another Back To Black. Not to mention getting her off the booze, drugs and horse tranquilizers.

The amazing thing is that McCain’s mother is still alive.
Oooh PJ, that link popped up a bunch “security errors” and warned I should download antispyware blah blah blah.
By the way, Sen McCain and his wife both have transparent skin. I dunno what to make of that. 😯
Heh, funny. But I won’t let my dog eat shit.
Really? It’s just a link to a story at the Huffington Post.
Currently playing, Marc’s Dream Diary – 12-10-04. Almost three years ago. Damn, I miss that show.
I think it might be a MAC reaction as I got the same thing KP did.
