I used to work with lawyers. Lawyers that were also faculty members. Now I work with doctors. Doctors that also happen to be faculty. Those that combine the best of their respective professions are great. Unfortunately, those that combine the worst, well, they tend to be petulant, arrogant, spoiled children.
Speaking of which, how about our preznit? Just in case you thought his ignoring of the August 6, 2001 PDB (you know, the one that said Osama was determined to strike the US) was a fluke, now we have his admission yesterday that, when he was told that there was new information on Iran, he was told what it was, and he didn’t bother to fucking ask. Joe Biden said it best:
“Are you telling me a president who is briefed every single morning, who is fixated on Iran, is not told back in August that the tentative conclusion of 16 intelligence agencies in the United States government said they had abandoned their effort for a nuclear weapon in ’03?†Biden said in a conference call with reporters.
“That’s not believable,†Biden added. “I refuse to believe that. If that’s true, he has the most incompetent staff in … modern American history and he’s one of the most incompetent presidents in modern American history.â€
Except I don’t think he needed to qualify it with either “one of” or “modern.”
Did you say “faculty” or “faulty”? :rofl2:
Heh! I just got an invitation to “update my MS profile!” Have you been hacked? :tap:
Malloy pointed out that Biden was still the head of the foreign services comittee when there were hearings on invading Iraq in 2002 and that he wouldn’t allow the guy who was the former head of the our WMD investigative unit (Scott somebody) to testify so Biden should shut the :fu: up
I don’t know what that’s about, art. Can you forward me the e-mail so I can see it? You can use my username here AT morningseditionists.com.
It wasn’t an email. It was from Malloy’s program either friday or monday. He was pointing out Biden’s hypocrisy for going along with bushco and not allowing testimony about there being no WMD’s in Iraq in 2002 and now threatening to impeach the chimp for ignoring intelligence about the same sort of things about Iran. It must have been the monday show.
Oh, I meant the “invitation” to update your MS profile. That didn’t come from here (that I know of), so I’d just be curious to see what it was about.
So now we have grounds to impeach the chimp for either a) lying about national security or b) general incompetance. RIGHT???
Not to mention that he has the chutzpah to take credit for relieving Iran of its nu-cu-lar program. Give me a freakin’ break.
:barf:
I like what Larry Johnson says:
It was weird. I had logged in here, logged out, then when I clicked on to the recent comments that’s in the upper right, this ‘update’ showed up. It showed my email adress, my ‘art’ name- asked me if I wanted to fill in a personal bio or update my password. It freaked me out that it showed my email address. It wasn’t in your font or style but it was in blue like your login page. :tinfoil: :omg:
Oh, that’s interesting. I’ll have to see if I can duplicate it.

pj- I just tried ‘reregistering’ and joining the blog again. Nothing came up that looked remotely like what I saw; that said, I didn’t remember the box to check “If you’re human” :rofl2:

Sounds to me as if you were logged in, but got a partial page load, so the page didn’t look the way it normally does, and then clicked on the “my profile” link.
I thought the “are you human” box was only for the forum registration (I was getting a ton of spammers trying to register for the forums, so I took away the self registration for them). Is there one for the blog, too?
I went to this J&P event last night which was a presentation by some local
activiststourists who recently went to the Israeli occupied territories and made a DVD video of what they saw .. What they showed was that this peace conference that Bushco just sponsored was a farce because the Israelis have put so many settlements in the palestinian lands that a two nation solution is no longer possible. There were probably 70 people there and afterward the presenmtation the Q&A session shopwed that..1. About half the audience didn’t know what AIPAC was.
2. Most saw no connection between what was going on in Palestine and election campaign reform in the SBR.
3. Probably 2/3 rd of the audience didn’t know about the 95 billion we give on the average to Isreal each year.
4. Most didn’t think we had a creeping fascism problem in the SBR but didn’t know what K street. was or was about.
Indeed even among the left it appears to be the land of the IDIOT MORON
But remeber Heartman assures us we are taking back Amerika :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2:
In the discussion of energy there seems to be a lot of IDIOT MORONS talking about a pulsed carburetor that could make a Sherman tank get 50 miles to the gallon and do 100 miles per hour
According to the tank spec
http://www.battle-fleet.com/pw/his/M4_Sherman_Tank_WW2.htm
Power plant: 375hp General Motors 6046 12 cylinder inline diesel
Now a diesel engine doesn’t
1. use a carburetor
2. The top speed of the tank is quoted to be 30 mph which for a tracked vehicle is pretty fast. so 100 mph is probably impossible considering the 1940s technology of the drive drive train and the dynamics of a tracked vehicle..of course they didn’t say if that was for six minutes or six seconds either. I would like to see it corner at that speed :reaper: :reaper:
Merry Christmahannukwanzica! I like that! It’s a tongue twister AND a spelling bee all in one word!
So, you think a pulsed carb is a tank is just a tarradiddle?
Just learned that word, and I like it. George Bush is a serial terradiddler.
Although, I must say, the idiot morons I run with don’t seem to be talking about 100 MPH tanks. We talk more about lake effect snow and SU basketball then pulsed carburetors.
Now, phased pulse cannons, that’d be different.
Yeah, that was it. I just looked at “my profile”. At least I wasn’t being watched 😯 😮
Ah, my googling informs me that, for the M4 Sherman Tank “a typical power plant was a 425-horsepower gasoline engine.” That comes from Encyclopedia Britannica, and they would never lie. 🙄
Wikipedia (which is often quite happy to lie) says the Abrams M1A1 – which uses a 1500 HP gas turbine – can go 60 MPH if you remove the governor (but that “damage to the drive train (especially to the tracks) and an increased risk of injuries to the crew can occur at speeds above 45 mph”). I’ll bet. I’d hate to see a hunk of tank tracks go flying off at 60 mph. It also says that it can be “fueled with diesel fuel, kerosene, any grade of motor gasoline, JP-4 jet fuel, or JP-8 jet fuel.” Have to see if I can put one of those in my Hyundai.
I think that military planners were not to bright in their use of power plants in military vehicles after WWI.. Using gasoline ( aka fuels that go boom easily) in vehicles that will probably get shot at .proved to be a bad idea and the Germans it was observed didn’t have as much of that problem in their vehicles. I believe that the Bismarck which kept alluding the allies because there patrol planes would find it showing no smoke but in the hour it took for a battle group to get to where it was it was gone. The allies who were steam fans ( and for the most part still are) didn’t understand the concept of diesel electric. A lot of todays war ships are gas turbine electric but are made from materials that make them light weight and fast but a direct hit by an anti ship missile will actually set the metal the ship is made from on fire and an aluminum magnesium titanium fire is almost impossible to put out . During the Falklands dispute the English lost two war ships that way.. They burned to the water line reminiscent of the wooden sailing ships. :reaper: :reaper:
The M1A1 was designed in the 1970s, put into production in the late 1980s for use against the soviet tanks in Eastern Europe which supposedly outnumbered our troops in western Europe and just in time for the Soviet Union to go bottoms up. Its first use was in Gulf war I which was in the desert where the gas turbines inhaled huge amounts of sand plugging their air filters every ten miles or so..
The tank crews really like them in Iraq .. they are all airconditioned. :tap: :tap:
I am “watching” You. I just wanted all to feel at HOME… :dancers: :reaper: A!I!V! … Scream: Are We Having Fun Yet? Work Is FunWorkIs FunWork is :fustrate:
Heartman is a hypocrite in his denial of the viability of nuclear power.. The majority of the 20 some nuclear plants operating in the SBR were built in the 1960s and 1970s and are relatively trouble free. The materials used in the fabrication of solar panels are toxic and with the likelihood of a weather event destroying a wind farm putting you in the dark for months if you want to stop global warming it may be the only route to go.
Gas plasma breeder reactors which make their own fuel would probably be the only economically viable way to produce nuclear power long term since Uranium is also in short supply but they both use and produce PU 😮 😮 .. perhaps they will produce just enough fuel to keep up with demand for more power plants. 😮 The plasma reactor also produces vast quantities of hydrogen gas.
Plasma reactors run at such high temperatures they can also be used as nuclear incinerators. :reaper: :reaper:
LASL built an operational plasma reactor in the 1970s but since it promised vast quantities of almost free power RayGun shut that program down. The French are now about to bring the same hardware back up :reaper: :reaper:
Most of the energy problems we have are the result of having elitist pigs being selected to run for office.. Unless you remove the ONK ONK squeal squeal aspects of the decision making nothing is likely to change. :gate: :omg: :jason: :jason: :fist:
When the SBR Titanic finally goes down there are going to be many many IDIOT MORONS who probably won’t be able to tell the difference but a lot of people like those who were at that meeting last night will be standing around asking each other what happened.??. no one told me .. I didn’t know.. while Heartman and Rhodes will be in exile saying but.. but.. we told you so….but… you did nothing .. like they told you to do somehting in the first place .. :reaper: :reaper:
‘Tis snowing in Brooklyn. Not heavy, but steady and it’s sticking. The dogs are going to be so happy. They love the snow. I am so UNhappy. I have to walk them in it. That way when they decide to pull me, I can slide and fall.
When hubby first broke his foot, I thought that walking the dogs was a pretty nice thing to do. The weather was nice and a walk with a dog was a good opportunity to take advantage of it. (The weather, not the dog)
Now, I think hubby should mend quickly and enjoy these brrrrrisk walks, himself.

I just watched Hillary on CNBC, the stock channel. She was talking about ways to ameliorate the sub-prime mortgage crisis.
The interviewer got very aggressive and asked her about her proposal to let the Bush tax cuts expire, saying that tax cuts are really a tax increase.
Hillary laughed. Said the wealthy had benefited much, as had she, and that they could handle an increase and that it was important to get money into the hand of the majority of Americans’>
Then stupid interviewer wanted to know how a plan to help the people affected by rising interests rates could be kept from helping people who didn’t deserve it. Hillary suggested some ways but went on to say that the big guys, who did all this stuff, get away scott free and we have to worry more about the little guy.
She did a good job. It was great to hear her laugh at these idiots who worry about the rich getting hurt and some little jerk getting undue help.
Sue P. Did you and Emily make it? I hope Minnie had a good time walking — And even Emily. Do You have a cup of Tea or Hot Chocolate? YUM.
I am in Town now {said with a snapping Z} and save for the winds, I am no longer in SNOW. Death is bad — take the 6 to 16 on West Coast then ‘X’s By Katrina’s Death toll and as I have touted for years .. Other than me being like ALMOST “that” woman on Desperate Housewives who went and opened the door and got “sucked” out by The Tornado … I had to take my Tall Trees down {and put in lil Redwoods) since they caused 95% of damage up and down the west coast. A few years ago the winds ruined my old fence and
gates– and I thought the other Winds were BAD. WOW.
I am no longer in snow. (Yes it even Snows (and rains ) in California, especially NorthEast CA.) I am here now to add what wee support you “rough and tough” gals and guys.
Be Well and :hot: Choc Cheers (tea 4 me :yippee: ) … :fist: A!I!V! :fist:
Thanks for the good thoughts, Druid. We all managed in the wind of yesterday, though not happily, except of course for Minnie who seems to think that freezing weather with wind that blows her ears flat, is FUN.
The winds have died down and the snow has been light. the dogs love snow. Me…not so much.
Huckabee sought the release of a rapist who was convicted of raping a distant cousin of Bill Clinton. The case became a right-wing cause with the writer Steve Dunleavy saying that Clinton was keeping an innocent man in prison because the victim was his cousin.
(I fail to understand why Clinton would want to punish the man who did NOT rape his cousin…but I’m not a rightwing nut.)
Anyway, this guy was paroled and went on to rape and kill another woman. Huckabee has been saying he didn’t know he was guily. Never heard there were other victims…general blather. But, Huffpo got a whole bunc of documentation that shows Huckabee is lying.

Ooooh, they’re all upset with Hillary on CNBC. It’s a bailout, they’re yelling. It’s important to note that bailouts are good if you are bailing out a bank, but not people who aren’t wealthy.
Raising taxes is a terrible idea in a bad economy. (The economy is only bad when they’d defending their tax cuts.)
She wants a fund established to help people affected by the mortgage problem. This would mean gummint funds, they’re yelling. Gummint funds can only be used to enrich the already too rich.
Pretty funny to listen to these jerks. :rofl2:
Russian Navy Group Goes to Mediterranean
MOSCOW (AP) — Russia dispatched an 11-ship aircraft carrier group to the
Mediterranean Sea, the defense minister said Wednesday – part of what he said was an effort to resume regular Russian naval patrols on the world’s oceans.
The announcement by Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov is the latest move by Russia to expand its military presence internationally and flex growing economic and military strength.
Speaking at a Kremlin meeting with President Vladimir Putin, Serdyukov said an aircraft carrier, two anti-submarine ships, a guided missile cruiser along with refueling ships from Russia’s Northern and Black Sea fleets and 47 aircraft would be part of the group in the Mediterranean.
He said the group would conduct three tactical exercises with real and simulated launches of sea- and air-based missiles and make nearly a dozen port calls.

China Warns US To Keep Out Of Taiwan
ROW between China and the US over port visits to Hong Kong has extended into a renewed move by Beijing to prevent foreign naval vessels sailing through the 180km-wide Taiwan Strait.
The first of a series of incidents causing friction between the countries came last month, when two US minesweepers, the Patriot and the Guardian, were caught in a tropical storm in the South China Sea.
—
On Tuesday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Qin Gang said China had “expressed grave concern to the US” about its ships traversing the Taiwan Strait, “and requested it to take prudent actions in this sensitive area”.
Theories about this behaviour have focused on the US decision to sell Taiwan an anti-missile defence system, and President George W. Bush’s meeting with the Dalai Lama, or on Chinese navy war games in the South China Sea.

Fred, I wrote you a wonderful “post” which when almost finished “it disappeared”. It was during Thom’s and I will be sending again 2 U when he is on …
Part of the “post” dealt with …”What more is needed.?” Your words ring true . Have you ever contacted Thom by posting? I have … You really should … but for now I have to “fly”.
I perhaps should get :tinfoil: :paranoid: , since I have written you several times, yet computer “freezes”, or post disappears or Computer says no ….. Probably just my angst when writting. :smack: 🙄 weak 🙂 but ya do have scary “things” around you :rofl2: I think, or “Silent Scream” A!I!V! :fist:

Maybe if Edwards gets the nomination he’ll pick Kucinich as his running mate! :pup: Or, maybe the DLC will force him to take Hillary. :tap:
I don’t think Hillary’s ego will let her accept a second place position :paranoid: :paranoid: or we would have the same situation we have with Bush where the VP calls all the shots. :reaper: :reaper:
Yo, Bloggies :yippee:
Well, survived another day in

I’m living in a Michael Moore movie. If working in the trenches didn’t suck the life outta me, I’d be more active in pestering my rep ( :yuck: Jim Walsh – R) and Senators Chuck & Hillary ( :barf: ) about health care issues. These sick people sure are greedy in their consumption of services that their insurance doesn’t want to pay for — and the ones without insurance, well, they just better be satisfied with a few free samples and a referral to the local Medicaid enroller & a long wait which may last longer than the charity the hospital can extend to them :billcat:
Medicare just paid for 3 days in the hospital for a patient who could have been discharged 3 days ago with an injectable anticoagulant, but he’s on Social Security, has a shitload of meds that he already pays fairly sizeable copays for and couldn’t afford the $135 copay for the medication he needed. So, instead of paying $1000 for the medication he needed at home (inclusive of what the copay would have cost) Medicare is stuck with an approximately $3000 bill because the :fu: ing drug companies have a mandate to gouge us all.
This kind of thing is truly major BULLSHIT :tap:
This country is SO :reaper: SICK :reaper:
————– Dru — have you checked your computer for spirit possession? :reaper: It keeps saying “NO” — perhaps it needs an exorcism :tinfoil: ? Or maybe just retire it to the Great Clean Recylcing Graveyard :reaper: and get a new laptop!! :pup: It certainly does seem to get verklemmpt a lot. 🙁
Well, we’re watching Dan Rather on HD on Russia. Many years ago (1972, I think, or maybe ’73) I worked for Lufthansa (German National Airline — I AM NOT A NAZI — or gay :rant1: ) and had the opportunity to go on a “fam trip” (familiarization trip) to the then USSR because the USSR was wanting to open up for tourism, so they invited airline employees to visit various destinations of interest (Moscow, St. Petersburg, Tashkent, Bukhara, and a couple of other places I can’t remember just now). It was quite an adventure traveling on Aeroflot & with an Intourist guide breathing down your neck at every step. It was all very black & white — HDTV makes Russia look much more colorful now (in HDTV) than it was then. But Putin sounds EVERY bit as Black & White and corrupt as USSR was back then and scarier than the Bushies because he’s smart & is KGB :paranoid: :omg:
The regular Russian people I encountered were just regular people and were OK.
OK. Over & out. It’s been a long day & it’s :cold: & I’m
No :slap: :reaper: SiCKO Land :reaper: :slap:

:jesus: :fist: A!I!V! :fist: :slap:
And P.S. — The Russkys DON’T like Dubya or Amerika these days! :omg:
Back in 1972, they were asking us about the Beatles & were all over us for toilet paper.
Go figure. :billcat:
Well
According to this person I know with family in the Ukraine the Russian people in general haven’t benefited from the “democracy” they were exposed to .. The society went almost immediately back to t the same situation they had in 1918 where there were a very few well to do “capitalists” and the rest of the people who were worse off than they were under the Soviet Union. I think Putin is just reacting to the will of the populace by taking long steps backward. :reaper: :reaper:
Yup.
Doesn’t look like it has improved at all since 1972 🙁
🙁
The Russians probably have more oil and natural gas under their land than has been already pumped and the high prices have made them able to reinvest and do a lot things they didn’t have the cash to do while engaging the SBR in the cold war including modernizing their military.. they apparently don’t think a high tech army is really what you want on the battle field .. they are a believer in KISS ( Keep It Simple Stupid) and electronic countermeasures to defeat the SBRs high tech .. They have all the same offensive weapons we have including cruise missiles launched by strategic bombers and surface navel vessels and those mobile ICBMs we have no way to find. I don’t know if they have discovered the Sea Land delivery system .. not that they are letting on. :tap: :tap: :reaper: :reaper:
So poottiepoot is taking russia back to precommunist oligarchy and chimpie is taking us back to the guilded age of turn of the century amerika-it’s all about being a well-connected :pirate: :smack:
