So, I guess now we know why the Bush administration has to resort to locking up suspected terrorists without charges, access to attorneys, or trials. It’s because our justice department is too fucking incompetent to actually convict anybody by following the rules. Yesterday, they went 0 for 7 against the “Liberty City 7” in Miami. One acquittal and six mistrials. Of course, the case that started out with a big dog and pony show from Lawyer of the Year Alberto Gonzalez got more and more comical as the facts came out. The gang’s “mastermind” used to roam the streets in his bathrobe carrying a staff, trying to recruit new followers. They trained by playing paintball in the woods (the only weapons the feds came up with were a knife and a blackjack, fer chrissakes). A very scary bunch indeed.
First “guess” for the weekend nor’easter:12 – 24″. Subject to change, of course. Guess we’d better make sure we have supplies. Let’s see, we have a bunch of frozen pizzas, a few boxes of wine, and a 12-pack of beer. So I guess all we need is more beer.
Although I don’t have to go to work today, I’m awake. Last night, when I walked the dogs, the streets and sidewalks were covered with ice. Of course, that did not have an impact on Minnie, the shepherd. She merrily pulled me along. Somehow I managed not to end up flat on my face. I’m hoping to do as well this morning. I’ll wait awhile ’til I take them out. Maybe the ice will melt.
Mark Green has a post about Guidi over at HuffPost (typically, it includes how mean s/he was to Greenie), in case you’d like to comment and perhaps compare Green to Ruliani over canning Lawton Smalls.
Good morning everyone. One of the few people I enjoy working with is leaving as of today. I just found out. Just what I need – my workplace sucking a little more. And not in a good way. :knit2:

Good morning Druid. I just got a copy of X-Treme Latin by Henry Beard who writes Latin for modern life, believing that saying it in Latin makes it sound so much better.
He’s written some lines to be repeated to one’s uncooperative computer. Perhaps threatening it in Latin will help, although I must admit that my computer seems immune to my evil thoughts.
Let me know if it works. Here goes:
Download the goddamn file, you bug ridden piece of shit
Assume plicam damnatum, o tu moles muscaria muscerdarum.
If you freeze one more time, you’re going straight to the landfill.
Si denuo congeles, confestim ibis in fossam purgamentorum.
Yeah? Well I’ve got an error message for you, fuckhead – you’re about to be shut down improperly with a ballpeen hammer.
Sicine? Nunc age, tibi nuntium erroris habeo, stuprator – mox improprie sopieris malleolo.
Druid, your LBH now has to compete with my own (and Henry Beard’s) :rofl2:

The latest AAR rumor is that the Young Turks may have been canned.
AAR is trying very hard to prove that liberal talk radio has no audience ..but in the case of the young jerks that argument takes care of itself. It looks like all these shows barely support even one talker much less a production company.. The young jerks were on by themselves long before AAR happened though so their desyndication by AAR just makes you have to go look for them.. if you really want an ex rethug slightly Reich of center perspective that is. :reaper: :reaper:
Well, if they go turdless, perhaps a Seder/Maron morning show is in order?
Perhaps this has already been noted here, but our local AAR affilate just informed me that Sam Seder is in for Randi all next week! And
over the holidays we may hear Lee Rayburn (local favorite) too.
Perhaps “Unshaven” this week might be broadcast on the AAR airwaves? I hope so.
As for me, I say “Bring on the Oosterdammerung!”
I found Cenk interesting, especially when he discussed the Middle East.
I find AAR infuriating, especially when they do things without any notice to the audience. The least they could do is let beleaguered AAR listeners know what’s going on.
AAR keeps turning more and more into crap. They keep saying everything’s a “business” decision. Perhaps I’m wrong – feel free to correct me – but have any of these “business” decisions actually resulted in an improvement? In anything?
I mean, Evan Cohen, Gloria Wise, Danny Goldberg, Jerry Springer, Air America Mornings, Lionel….
:boobs: A!I!V!
Fat Heady is apparently in favor of a flat tax as proposed by Huckaturd .. with such a fat head its a wonder he can even get it up his A* :reaper: :reaper:
The graduated income tax is supposed to be graduated so those who benefit most from the system and who have the money to pay for it..pay for it… If the upper 10% now pay 70% of the taxes the flat tax will make the lower 25% pay for all of it.. of course no one will be able to afford to buy anything either. Imagine taking a 17% hit in your income over night .. :reaper: :reaper:
Fat heady obviously knows he speaks to a lot of the IDIOT MORONs
Good morning/afternoon/evening. Just dropping by to say hi. Got too much work today to do much else. I’ll do the recipe thing over the weekend, though.
:pup:
have any of these “business†decisions actually resulted in an improvement? In anything?
AAR’s many deciders are very adept at BAD business decisions. I believe they have been influenced, in not directly instructed, by the NYC Bd of Ed.
I don’t know why AAR doesn’t set aside some portion of its budget for innovation – a sort of R&D fund. Because the “sure thing” (hiring Springer or Lionel, for example) hasn’t worked out so well for them and I think they’re more likely to make money by innovating rather than by copying.
Doing a radio version of “The Daily Show” was a real possibility with MS – they didn’t invest enough in promotion to let it catch on. The SammyCam or the Young Turks audio/visual hybrid
(maybe “Unshaven” too) might be the next direction for infotainment broadcasting – I don’t know – they should certainly being playing around with it as Sam is. Blogging and receiving IMs and emails while broadcasting – I don’t think they’ve really explored all that this sort of interest-community-broadcasting can do. I thought when they announced that they were going to try to hook the blogs and bloggers into the AAR programming that they might be on the right track but I haven’t seen much come out of this.
Heck, they’ve never yet exploited all the power of their own website! Maybe with Sam working on that part, they’ll get a clue.
Even with all the changes at AAR it still seems like old fuddyduds of limited vision and imagination are in charge.
Well I hate to admit it but I actually like the Turks, although Cenk really needs a co-host.
I like Cenk, especially with Female Co-Host 😉 :pirate: A!I!V!
I don’t care for Cenk (except when he gets really
righteously angry – then he’s great!) but I really like
Christy Harvey and I give Cenk credit for being forward-thinking.
He’s just too much into Poppy Bush and skirt-chasing.
He comes across as a sexist.
Cenk and Maron would be funny, but only for one show. They’d kill each other if they had to work together on a regular basis.
Nice to hear that Sam is filling in for Randi next week. Hope it’s prelude to something bigger.
Sometimes Crank is OK. He’s kind of a loudmouth know-it-all (a male Randi, in that respect), and he’s way too far to the right for me. And if he fucking says “god bless” on more time, I may have to strangle him. But often he’s quite tolerable. I go through stretches where I’ll listen to him, and others where I won’t. There’s just not much choice out there for me. I don’t get any of this stuff on the radio, so I have to podcast (bandwidth where I work is throttled way down for most streaming media, the bastids), and I’m not willing to pay for any of this stuff (my wife subscribed to NovaM, because we want to support them – even if Shelly blew me off). AAR stuff I can get from various sources, Jeff Farias is free. Can you believe Bill Press wants money? That’ll be the day.
So, Travis, did you get to take your first AmTrak ride? How was it?
Nice to see Gypsy and NC Blue around. I even caught CitizenKahn lurking the other day. Say hello, CK, if you get back here again.
If anybody talks to Roxie, please pass along our best wishes.
I wonder if my wife will be making it home from work tonight?
It’s really amazing how AAR seems to can all the talent I like or kind of like. They never can anyone I don’t like. Except Springer, of course. It’s like they lurk the blog and make their decisions based on what we like. Bastards! :tommygun:
Just heard this on Jeff’s show.
I need to stay awake since Moonlight is finally on Tonight FINALLY ! 🙄
yet I have had hardly any sleep  A!I!V! maybe pretty pics , but the one I want I can’t get 🙁
Don’t Fear The Reaper :reaper: … :pirate: :yippee: Rep Wexler re #32 :yippee:
I collect books covering many genre. In current catalogs I run across a title that bothers me – Legacy: Paying the Price of the for the Clinton Years.
Most people who think for themselves can look back and see the unraveling of America began on January 20, 1981. You have contacts. Talk to people. Get someone, many people if you can, to write books about paying the price for the Reagan/Bush years. If nothing else Reagan proved that de-regulation is NOT a good thing and Big Business cannot be trusted.
Possible writers are Kos, Seder or Carville. Senators who might compose such a tomes include Bidden, Schumer, Obama, Clinton and Feingold.
As for Democratic presidential candidates, I prefer Bill Richardson or John Edwards. Obama and Clinton are too divisive.
Doing a radio version of “The Daily Show†was a real possibility with MS –
I think Marc would not appreciate that comparison. But you’re right. It’s almost as if they were going nuts to avoid any similarity to Comedy Central shows. If it was funny, they ditched it. (Except Randi, because no one ditches Randi…)
Even with all the changes at AAR it still seems like old fuddyduds of limited vision and imagination are in charge.
I believe this is because they have the $$$ and they think this gives them better insight into what the listening public want than people with less cash might have. Buncha jackasses….
:nana:
If Sam’s covering for Randi I might even turn the radio on at work and try to listen through the static some.

Lawton Smalls bowed out graciously tonight.
Nearing the end of the original AAR staff. Absolutely nobody left from the humour division.
Damn! I forgot it was Kent’s last night.
The Turks web page appears to be gone from the AAR site.
AWWW KJones last night. 🙁 I haven’t listened to yet……but Moonlight is on after 9pm PDT A!I!V!
I wonder why Cenk has not said something. I see he posted on Thursday and Friday, but no mention of anything.
Hey Sue, yeah that’s really annoying. They should at least say what’s going on.
Where is Nancy Drew when we need her? This AAR stuff is annoying and mysterious. I hope someone blabs soon.
That’s because Randi is not funny.
okay Vampire tv show watched …… check
Now what have I missed on Rachel’s and anything important regarding Kent 🙁 Sniff.
