Those of us here in the Northeast are getting ready to get dumped on with snow later on tonight. If we get the winds and snow they’re predicting, it’s gonna be a blizzard. So, time to get the gas tank(s) filled up, and buy whatever we need to buy to make it through a couple of days, just in case the streets become impassible. We’ll see. They often make a big deal out of this stuff, only to see a less than impressive storm. So, we’ll see. For me, up to about 15″ is an inconvenience. When you get over that, it becomes kind of a pain in the ass. As long as the Satellite dish stays intact, and the Internet keeps working, I really don’t care what it does. If it’s bad enough come Monday morning, maybe I’ll even get a day off. But I doubt it.
Anyhow, I reckon we’d better get out there and fill up the gas tanks, buy beer and lottery tickets, and look up the HD teevee listings (maybe even rent a couple HD DVDs). Y’all stay safe and warm.
First of all – a heart-felt warmest wishes to pj and RG to come through the impending storm with :menorah: furnace, big-ass HDTV and satellite dish intact :cold:
Rachel is pissed and has had a hard time controlling it on air all week. Kent gave a very moving tender shout-out to everyone he’s worked with @ (I have a hard time even writing the acronym) aar
The Doctor has taken a temporary moratorium from going on the TV machine (despite what it seems like many offers) and sounded really unsure what she might do next except to say she’s going to work right now to “conquer the world” in some capacity with Kent.
It looks like the turk is dead (not even showing anything at tyt website, Kent’s gone, Rachel’s pissed……., and who gives a shit about lionel :fu: ?
The only question for me is if they have a ‘no compete’ clause in their contracts that would prevent them from joining Malloy at Nova.
Is Green trying to screw the pooch just before the biggest election in our lives? 😡 :jason:
I often wonder if aar has been a scam by clearchannel all along to just give the ‘appearence’ of a democratic media until it no longer suits them. To judge by the quality of “progressive” 760 AM here in Denver, the answer is hell yes :growl: :growl: :slap: :fu: :fustrate: :fustrate:

Hmm. 7 degrees out there. A bit chilly.
When AARs original business model involved paying radio stations/networks to carry their programming that seemed to indicate that they were worried about sponsors not flocking to pay for their programming..
Most liberals are not very likely to buy the :crap: that most liberal talk shows are sponsored by.. how may liberals need a steel building, have a time share.. think that these get rich quick schemes work ??
Large operations like Clear channel probably buys commercials in blocks with the guarantee that the sponsors will get X number of commercials per week. on all the stations they own in a particular community….so they don’t care if KKZN does poorly in add recognition as long as KOA and KHOW do more than well ( remember Art we live in the land of the IDIOT MORON )
The reason these shows that require more than the talk show host coming in sitting down and talking are failing is simply that they can’t pay for themselves.
I also think they really didn’t give the format enough time to get established before they expected the rating to go up. I think AAR originally looked at much of their programming as a radio version of late night TV where Amerikans get a lot of their political news from..
With all the negativity it had to be funny or no one would listen for long unless they came up with a cure for all the whining that the listener could see happening or perhaps had commericials for anti acids or acid reflux on.
I know that a lot of people on the left out here are no longer listening because they offered no viable solutions..especially following the 2006 election where many people found that being politically active was not the solution.. You just got to vote for the elitist the party machine gave you to vote for. Salazero being the prime example here. So now we have fascist democrats in office instead of fascist ( and much stupider) rethugs.
When people are in a world of hurt being told you are in a world of hurt is not what you want to hear. :reaper: :reaper:

Those dials on the gas meter are visibly spinning. :reaper: :reaper:
Good morning. :joe: :joe:
I think that Cenk will talk about what’s going on eventually. I was able to access the Young Turks website from the aar page, this morning.
Looks like Al Gore might have shamed the Bushies into doing the right thing.
The Turds are on the AAR web page, so I’m not sure what I’m missing here.
Some one was talking about that Bali agreement on Heartmans show yesterday they got a non binding agreement to cut CO emissions by 20-40 percent by 2050.. By that time WalStreet may well be beach front property. :reaper: :reaper:
There’s been no new tyt all since tuesday. The yt website is black. Malloy’s probably still to be found somewhere on the aar website. They’re very lazy about updating it- or giving out information. Cenk hasn’t posted anything about his absence either.
Fred- if comedy was what was needed, why’d they kill MS?
I haven’t listened to the Turds in a week or so, but Crank has been pleading with people to become subscribers. Maybe he just can’t afford to do the show anymore. No doubt AAR cut what they pay for the show. A “business” decision, I’m sure.
Well Art MS required two people talking and a production company to produce the funny.. I guess it has to be both funny and cheap. :reaper: :reaper:
Danny Goldberg personally killed MS. He didn’t want the funny. That’s why he killed Unfiltered and then MS. His vision was apparently to have NPR with commercials and a news division consisting of Google news searches.
Then the Greenies came along, and decided that Sam was too “substantive” for the morning, and he brought in Lionel (in a move that had all the radio “experts” all agog).
The “new” AAR is all about “my brother bought me a radio station to play with.”
Actually, the “Bali roadmap” doesn’t really do anything, other than start a two-year process of negotiations that will hopefully lead to an agreement on emissions targets to replace those in the Kyoto Protocol, which expires in 2012.
Still, the US had said they were going to reject even that much, but they (or shall I say “we”) got booed, and did an about face.
The EU came in demanding cuts of 25-40% by 2020, but that got nixed by a bloc including the US, Canada, and Japan.
I think the ultimate solution is to get sponsors that make things liberals might buy ..assuming that since most liberals are in the middle class that they still have enough $$ to buy something at all. There must be some of those in every community.. .. although I can’t think of one at the moment.
Maybe Hillary needs to get her frying pan out.
The Justice Department’s voting rights chief stepped down Friday amid allegations that he’d used the position to aid a Republican strategy to suppress African-American votes.
snip
In recent months, McClatchy has reported on a pattern of decision-making within the department’s Civil Rights Division, of which the Voting Rights Section is a part, that tended to narrow the voting rights of Democratic-leaning minorities.
Tanner has been enmeshed for months in congressional investigations over his stewardship of the unit that was established to protect minority-voting rights. He drew increased focus this fall after he told a Latino group: “African-Americans don’t become elderly the way white people do. They die.”
In addition, the Justice Department opened an internal investigation into allegations that Tanner unfairly had deprived two veteran African-American staffers of bonuses and that he and a deputy had misused tax dollars on official trips.

Chris Coates, a veteran lawyer in the Voting Rights Section, was named the acting chief.
The change drew a hopeful reaction from congressional Democrats.

I really hope Edwards takes Iowa. I just don’t care for the “top two,” and I think Edwards is the best of the bunch that has any chance of getting the nomination.
Just about everyone I listen to on the radio says they like Edwards and Kucinich except Bill Press who likes Hillary. Oh, and I guess Mama is for Obama but I think that’s only because it sounds good.
Even Randi is going for Edwards, I think.
WASHINGTON – Forget about re-signing baseball superstar Alex Rodriguez or ace pitcher Mariano Rivera. If the New York Yankees really want to win another World Series only one thing needs to be done: elect Rudy Giuliani.
“I do point out that when I was mayor of New York City, the Yankees won four world championships,” Giuliani said during a recent Republican presidential debate. “And since I’ve left being mayor of New York City, the Yankees have won none.”
snip
Giuliani’s penchant for seeking credit became legendary in New York. When Time magazine put William Bratton, Giuliani’s first police commissioner, on its cover and credited him for the drastic drop in New York’s crime rate, Bratton quickly found himself in Giuliani’s doghouse and quit.
In 1997 New York magazine ran a bus billboard ad campaign with a slogan that the publication was “possibly the only good thing in New York Rudy hasn’t taken credit for.” City Hall objected, claiming the ad violated the publicity-happy Giuliani’s privacy and New York State civil rights law that protects citizens from having their names used for advertising purposes.

I think I am going to go see Jeff Farias’ band tonight. They are playing at a coffee shop close to me. Tammy (something) and the Merkin Wranglers. Go ahead, google “merkin”. :hubba:
Well, now they’re saying we’re not going to get the big snowfalls here, since we’re supposed to start things off with freezing rain. Now they say maybe just a foot. They always get our expectations up, and then pull this crap on us.
Yeah, that happens with rain around these parts.
I wonder if Joe from Tempe ever goes out to see Jeff wrangle merkins? I think Joe has a crush on Jeff.
The Bush administration is pushing to take control of the promotions of military lawyers, escalating a conflict over the independence of uniformed attorneys who have repeatedly raised objections to the White House’s policies toward prisoners in the war on terrorism.
The administration has proposed a regulation requiring “coordination” with politically appointed Pentagon lawyers before any member of the Judge Advocate General corps – the military’s 4,000-member uniformed legal force – can be promoted.

I dunno, PJ but I think I could recognize his voice if I ever heard it. Although, there is one caller, Tom in the cab, who I was able to envision perfectly by his voice and the fact that he said he was a big guy. I spotted him immediately without hearing him speak yet, at a movie opening that KPHX NovaM was sponsoring. I knew it was him and then my friend confirmed that. I can’t remember what movie it was, though, but I had won tickets on the air.
I envision Joe as kind of a wimpy, effeminate sort of fella. A nerd, but not a geek. A bit like the schoolmaster in The Wall. Lots of blather whilst torturing little kids, only to go home at night and have his fat and psychopathic wife thrash him to within inches of his life.
Just saying Tankard of Tea Cheers :joe: :pirate: :dancers: … Just scanning and working. A!I!V! 🙄
So the rethugs just took and bought up the different channels KNOWING all was to be at a loss?

On This weekend’s Ring Of Fire : Clinton
By SEDER on December 15, 2007 – 7:51am
This week’s Ring of Fire, hosted by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Mike Papantonio & John Morgan:
Saturdays at 3 o’clock Eastern, rebroadcasts Sunday nights at 8 pm Eastern
Tune in this week for Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY) :omg: , the leading candidate for the Democratic nomination for president. We’re talking with Sen. Clinton about her campaign, as we are less than a month away from the Jan 3 caucus. (In fact, both Iowa Democrats and Republicans will have two days to regroup from their New Year’s hangovers before casting their first votes Jan 3.)
Tammy (something) and the Merkin Wranglers. Go ahead, google “merkinâ€.

Granted, it’s been a long time since this atheist cracked the cover of a Bible, but doesn’t one of the Ten Commandments have something to do with NOT LYING? Perhaps a certain Baptist preacher who is running for president needs to catch up on his reading.

As much as I don’t think the Huckster will win the nomination, I would dearly love to see it happen. The Dems would slice him up like a salami.
More like they’d gum him to death like a dentureless geriatric on coke.
I could not relax since I have to finish a letter to another place regarding An Innocent Lion. I was on a “deadline” :smack: so could not write before.A!I!V!
Cenk’s post on The Young T’s website:
Guys, we clearly hear you. It’s not like we’re not checking our own website (I’ve read everything you guys have written and been amused and impressed by some of the speculation). And I completely understand and more than empathize with your frustration about the lack of news on the show.
Would we tell you exactly what’s going on if we could? Of cooouuursssee!!!!
Let me put down two rumors real quick though. This has nothing to do with content or a suspension.
Finally (for now), we will definitely do a show on Monday. Check back into the website to see when and where. Again, We’re totally sorry about the confusion and the lack of information.
We just a need little patience and faith that we’re looking out for you and that we can’t wait to do more shows as soon as possible. Thanks and we love you.
About Bali and Bush…
The United States delegation agreed to negotiate a climate treaty by the end of 2009. In other words, he got what he wanted again. He managed to push any climate change in this country into the next administration. Ain’t that another kick in the gonads.
The drama we call government which seems incapeable of agreeing on anything had better get their act together on this global warming stuff or we will be liable in the eyes of world for all those people who die because the rising ocean floods there country side. … They might see fit to solve the problem by creating a situation where the vaporized remains of the IDIOT MORONS and their stuff end up circling the globe at 50,000 feet :reaper: :reaper:
I am still trying to figure out what to do to get ANYTHING Done  about why this 👿 Jerk :jerk: and 👿 ad ick :fist: A!I!V!.
Video of Olbermann interviewed by Moyers:

The NY Times printed this in the metro, not the national, section of the paper because this is info of interest only to NYC dwellers:
A few years back, a man named Russell Harding held a City Hall patronage job that came with a government credit card, which he used to steal more than $250,000.
Crooks happen. What kept Mr. Harding in thievery for three years was that the city government, led by his patron, Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani, slammed the door on the one person who sought the Harding credit card records, a reporter with The Village Voice who filed freedom of information requests.
These requests were stalled until the next mayor took office and released the documents. Before long, Mr. Harding was packed off to prison.
