I’m so glad it’s Friday. I have to be honest, Christmas isn’t a big deal to me anymore. It hasn’t been in quite a while. Probably since my dad died. Definitely since my mom’s been gone (she insisted that holidays be observed; poor mom, she wanted a Donna Reed world, but was stuck with a bunch of ungrateful heathen kids). But once today is over, I have a five-day weekend coming up, and I need it, bad. Even better, that’s followed by a two-day week, and then a four-day weekend. That’s all I care about right now, so let’s hurry up and get this goddamn week over with already!

And I checked back sooner than normal :smack: ,well so I thought :fist: A!I!V! :fist: :dancers:
Fred is #3 or Greek whatever :dancers: 😉
Kevin is #4 :dancers: 😉
Now to run and “Brew” the Tea :joe: Cheers
Let’s see, if I remember correctly…
Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, Epsilon, Zeta, Eta, Theta, Iota, Kappa, Lambda, Mu, Nu, Xi, Omicron, Pi, Rho, Sigma, Tau, Upsilon, Phi, Chi, Psi, Omega. Or something like that.
That’s pretty good, PJ. I usually can’t get past the first four. All I know is my dog thinks she’s alpha no matter what I, hubby or the Dog Whisperer says.
It is gamma :yippee: all I knew was a symbol which I would have to look up :smack: but  :yippee: :pirate: 8) Now remember to copy it before you get doing something else and put on your bloody reading glasses (me  ) … where the bloody hell are they 🙄 … :fist: A!I!V! :fist: with Tankard of Tea :pirate: :yippee:
Thank You PJ — 8)
I used to be able to do that in less time than it takes a match to burn down, but now I have to struggle with some of the middle parts. ABCDE is easy, and the KLMN and OPRST make sense, but the parts that don’t match the English alphabet (which comes from Alpha Beta, I reckon) take a little head scratching.
Sue P. in school I and another woman started our own Sorority.
Alpha Beta Delta Theta …… our mascot was a Centaur :hubba:
Druid, our Alpha Beta Delta Theta Sorority girl. I like the centaur mascot.
When I was in college (just after the last dinosaur died) I never joined a sorority. All those sorority and fraternity guys had their own tables in the cafeteria and didn’t think too much of us Hippies. We didn’t think too much of them either.
There was even The Young Republicans club. :yuck: They recruited them young so that they could turn their promising brains to mush before they started thinking too much.
The rise of Mike Huckabee has put the fear of God into the Republican establishment. Its alarm has nothing to do with the Almighty.
The Huckabee surge represents a break with what has been standard operating procedure within the GOP for more than a generation. Huckabee’s evangelical Christian army in Iowa ignored the importuning of entrenched leaders of the religious right and decided to go with one of their own. Giuliani and Huckabee, the magazine’s editors argued, “would pull apart the coalition from opposite ends: Giuliani alienating the social conservatives, and Huckabee the economic (and foreign-policy) conservatives. A Republican Party that abandoned either limited government or moral standards would be much diminished in the service it could give the country.”
snip
But the crackup that National Review fears may already be happening. In a May 2005 report, the Pew Research Center pointed to the rise of a new group within the Republican alliance it labeled “pro-government conservatives.” Pew sees this group accounting for just under a third of the GOP’s core support.

8) when certain Greek alphabet “letters” did not “transcend” the English alphabet, I just went WTF :smack: AND SAID “BLANK” THIS — I don’t know Greek :rofl2: :fist: A!I!V! :fist:
*And Fred, You are GAMMA (RayGun :rofl2: )

I’m somewhat chagrined to admit I was in a frat. But I was poor, and thought it would be a cheap way to get wasted a lot. Not sure if turned out to be cheap, but mission accomplished on the other front. So much so, that my days were numbered; I didn’t make it through the following academic year (stuck around long enough to collect my student loan in the spring semester, and then promptly dropped out).
Ah, those were the days. I think. I don’t actually have a clear recollection.
BTW Sue P, most the women in “our” class joined our group. We had “those” special tables also ….. that is one of the reasons why we started ABDT with mascot :hubba: :pirate: :yippee: A!I!V!
I think I don’t trust Ray Nagin. I think he sounds too much like Rumsnamera. The city is crossing their fingers behind their back. :tap:
Drive by posting, my beloved fellow bloggerinis. Running late for work and will be busy as all get-out for Saturday as well. But…
Happy and Blessed Solstice Greetings to you all and hopefully I’ll be able to get back before Christmas to wish you a merry one.
:pent: :peace: :dancers: :alc: :pup: :cat: :pirate: :yippee:
It seems like Arnie isn’t so bad after all, plus he’s fun to parody. “Raaaaaaahhhhhh! Back to da chopper!”
Druid, did you accomplish the getting wasted cheaply, as PJ did? I have to admit that getting wasted was a major goal of all hippies. As for the cheap part, we were too wasted to care, I think.
Huh, it’s raining. There’s a little storm cloud over my neighborhood. Lovely! Except my room mate flooded the lettuce we’re growing on the roof yesterday so that stuff doesn’t really need it.
Congressional Democrats yesterday announced an investigation of the Environmental Protection Agency’s refusal to let California implement its tailpipe emissions law, the first step in what will likely be a fierce legal and political battle.

Representative Henry Waxman, a California Democrat and chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, sent a letter to EPA Administrator Stephen L. Johnson demanding “all documents relating to the California waiver request, other than those that are available on the public record.”
Waxman told Johnson to have EPA staff preserve all records. The decision against California “appears to have ignored the evidence before the agency and the requirements of the Clean Air Act,” Waxman wrote. He asked for all the relevant documents by Jan. 23.

Cool! I hope they get video of it!
:yippee: another poor student 8) ABDT would have tempted you away from that “normal” Frat. :hubba: :dancers: :rofl2:  not us. We were shy and demure “batting of eye-lashes”.

Cool Sue 8) , re 21… I heard of that yesterday but have not seen in writing but heard Arnold “speaking rough & tuff” and I have fear that the DEMS are going to follow him and not realize it is due to The Dems that we have decent laws. Only when he “acts” like a Dem he gets his “power” fix. But the DEMS are lining up like the :sheep: le they are behind Arnie. :smack: :fustrate: A!I!V! :fist:
Kristapea, WOW 😮 8) 😮 WOW re 22 … :fist: A!I!V! :fist:
 I think Edwards is the most practical choice. I may help his campaign out somehow in the next weeks just help him with the push he needs to take Iowa. I really really want him to win the nomination. He deserves it after Kerry let the ball go. I think once people get to know him they will feel real comfortable with him.
When a mayor of New York leaves office, little goes out the door but memories _ unless he’s Rudy Giuliani. Government rules discourage the city’s most powerful officeholder from departing with more than token gifts collected on the job.
snip
When Giuliani stepped down, he needed a warehouse.
Under an unprecedented agreement that didn’t become public until after he left office, Giuliani secreted out of City Hall the written, photographic and electronic record of his eight years in office _ more than 2,000 boxes.
Along with his own files, the trove included the official records of Giuliani’s deputy mayors, his chief of staff, his travel office and Gracie Mansion _ the mayor’s residence that became a legal battlefront during his caustic divorce.

Boy, that guy got a lot of mileage, didn’t he.
This is from #27:
AIDS demonstrators were forced to hold a City Hall protest in a steel pen, as police sharpshooters patrolled the roof, an NYPD helicopter thumped overhead, and dozens of police kept watch on foot and motorcycles. Giuliani called the extraordinary security justified.
Having sharp shooters aim at crowds was a Giuliani special. It was very scary.
He also liked to put people in pens or suddenly to close off all ingress and egress for demonstrators with movable fencing and police. He did that for the first time on a demonstration against cuts in adult ed. Even the police were horrified at what they were ordered to do because it was dangerous. People were being squeezed together by an ever shrinking police perimeter. Many demonstrators had brought their children and the children were frightened and crying. It took an old and wise sargent to surreptitiously open an exit so that people could leave.
I’m thinking McCain might be the repug nominee. Remember the deal he made with the devil.
SoupP (blame me)
I hope you are keeping all of your Il Douche stuff in a file so pj can set up a website for it if needed. TIME thinks he may be going down and Seder thinks the illness thing might be a repeat of his 2004 exit.
How long until StewP is back to :pup: patrol?

Morning all.
Kristapea, re 16, yes I have been keeping different copies of articles re NOLA and I hope to put on my “PAGE” whatever LBH, and WAIT….. there is that e-address regarding lawyers and “contact” info — also pending actions. When I find the e-address I will tell you. : D
I am going to have to back away awhile … I think…since no time to make sense  … A!I!V!
Kristapea :rofl2: WOD :hubba: or GOD 8) 😉
Stephie & Mooks keep saying it in different ways. : D
Yeh PJ …
f***ing  s” :rofl2: (keep it clean  ) :rofl2: A!I!V!
BTW Andy aka AquaMan 😉 tea (for now) cheers :pirate:

I would like to see Saunders come up with some solutions instead of blaming the soap opera in DC on the rethugs. The person freezing to death because they can not heat their house thats about to be foreclosed on doesn’t really have the 30 years he describes to fix the problem.. perhaps creating the opportunity for some special elections would at least make them see the gravity y of the situation… IDIOT MORON
I get tired of seeing poor people who make mistakes or get caught in a scam be punished for their misfortune and the rich people who make the same bad decisions get bailed out. :fu:
Fred, I feel quite desperate.. Sure I help a few that pass but it is so “bloody cold” :cold: … … All I can do is focus on the future “whenever”….. :fustrate: … :fist: A!I!V! :fist:
Is anyone else as annoyed by Janeane’s impression of Kathryn Harris as I am? Why doe she keep doing it? I’d rather just hear her. :tap:
Cripes, someone is falling for the Kathryn Harris schtick. :jerk: :smack:
I can do the alphabet backwards – just a weird talent, but it helped get me out of a DWI.
I rather like the Kathryn Harris bit, but I don’t get to listen as often as I’d like to.
Giuliani : http://www.dickipedia.org/index.php?title=Rudy_Giuliani
I agree, Kp. I want Harris to be a rapidly disappearing image in my rear view mirror.
Kristapea re 40 & 41  :yippee: sorry anastasi , :rofl2: my bad :spank: … : D :pirate: :yippee: 😉 A!I!V! I am going to have to run out again but for now have to FEED THE FIRE

About that EPA vs California thing…
EPA Staff Backed California
It seems no matter what happens this administration and its minions must always be a roadblock. Always with the war on science, the war on truth, the war on America.
George W. Bush, the Obstructionist President
“Kathrine Harris” is a joke that got old a long, long time ago. It reminds me a lot of Al Franken’s “funny” bits that got so old, so quick.
We finally made it out to the Island. Our plan to get an early start foiled by Weezie, my cat. She, an astute observer of us, correctly realized that we were thinking about leaving and found a space in the ceiling to hid. No subterfuge on our part could bring her forth. Finally, hubby, (who is walking slowly, with a cane) banged on said ceiling and Weezie appeared and after a little more chasing, she was finally in her box. So, we left in time for rush hour and you know the rest.
It’s nice to think that Rudy is tanking. I hope Judith isn’t too disappointed. The Dickapedia piece on Rudy got him exactly right.
To Dismay of Inspectors, Prowling Cats Keep Rodents on the Run at City Delis
Across the city, delis and bodegas are a familiar and vital part of the streetscape, modest places where customers can pick up necessities, a container of milk, a can of soup, a loaf of bread.
Amid the goods found in the stores, there is one thing that many owners and employees say they cannot do without: their cats. And it goes beyond cuddly companionship. These cats are workers, tireless and enthusiastic hunters of unwanted vermin, and they typically do a far better job than exterminators and poisons.
When a bodega cat is on the prowl, workers say, rats and mice vanish.

Weezie had better watch out, I might get her a job!
