Hey, Happy Solstice and shit. Finally, the days can start getting longer again. At least, here in the Northern Hemisphere. You folks down under are just heading in to the summer. I think I’ll go back to bed now. Carry on.

     :joe: :joe: :joe: :joe: :joe: :joe: 😮 😮 :yuck: :crap: :omg: 😯 😯
Ok up and at them :sheep: le
Today will have more daylight than yesterday, What more could we want. Happy Solstice, Druid and all.
My shepherd, Minnie, has a huge bump at her wrist. She’s been on a long course of steroids that have brought it down to about 1/3 of its original size but the vet thinks that removing it and finding out what exactly it is, is the way to go. So, Thursday morning she’s going to have it done. Poor doggie. :pup:
For now, however, she’s having a ball running around in the snow.
Actually, sunrise and sunset are at the exact same time today as yesterday . Tomorrow, however, will have four seconds more daylight (here, anyway; yours will be more or less, depending on your location, of course).
Don’t we, down here in southern NYC, get more sunlight? Perhaps another 4 seconds as compared to you northern upstaters?
The blog definitely needs a new emo as a Christmas present.
The latest issue of American Conservative issue features a cover story titled “Declaring Forever War: Giuliani has surrounded himself with advisors who think the Bush Doctrine didn’t go nearly far enough.”
The cover image depicts Rudy Giuliani in fascist garb:

There’s a picture of the front cover, too.
Actually, the farther north you go, the more sunlight you get after the winter solstice. In NYC, you only get 3 seconds more daylight tomorrow. Of course, you get slightly longer days prior to the winter solstice.
I’m listening to Maron vs Seder. I sure do love to hear these guys babble.
Sam actually said yesterday that M v. S would be a great morning show. I am not sure the world (or those 2) could handle 15 hours a week but I am ready to die trying.
OK, PJ, but our shortest day is 9 hrs and 15 mins and yours is 8 hrs and 59 mins. There has to be something good about living in NYC…I guess it’s 16 minutes.
The universal health insurance package that one chamber of California’s legislature passed this week looks a lot like the one Massachusetts not only passed but put in place a year earlier: Every resident will be required to have insurance, every employer must pitch in, and no one can be denied coverage because of a pre-existing condition.

Vernon, I think Sam and Marc might do well to include a straight man/arbitrator/referee. But, I’d sure love to listen to them. Perhaps we should email those idiots at AAR, although they’re probably considering some alternative like “Clout.”
I heard Cenk say that AAR isn’t going to be carrying an early morning show to replace the turk (s)
Ah, but our longest day is 15h 22m 10s, while yours is 15h 05m 52s.
SoupP, I am sure they would not do something unless they had some of the staff underpinnings they had on MS and MM. I think Kent Jones might be good but I did not hear a lot of love for KJ in the last week. Maddow would be great but I think she is headed to brighter horizons as the days increase.
I am looking for good websites of information and advocacy on universal and single payer health care. Someone in Sederville posted this one from California Nurses.
It’s true about nurses.
Maybe they can replay the previous day’s Lionel. That way you’d get six hours of Lionel every day. That’d be sweeeeeeet! Unless they can convince Springer to come back to radio.
I am guessing Randi reruns which to me offer only a slightly better option. Why do they need a morning drive option for the EC anyway? Not so important a time slot as radio goes. Besides, the big Imus comeback has begun.
Yeah, the nurse without health insurance is interesting. Back when I was a union rabble rouser, one of the people I represented was an LPN who got hurt at work (trying to move a patient, because they were – as always – inadequately staffed). She went out on comp, and was out long enough that they shit canned her, and wouldn’t allow her to come back and work when she was all better. And of course she couldn’t get comp anymore, so she was screwed, lost all her time and seniority, and of course her health insurance.
My guess is that AAR will just go away, with no programming. Green will get to keep a NYC radio station to play with, and they’ll get a bunch of third-rate (cheap) local yo-yos, or pay to play infomercial style shows to fill the time when Marky doesn’t want to be on the air.
“Maybe they can replay the previous day’s Lionel. That way you’d get six hours of Lionel every day. That’d be sweeeeeeet! Unless they can convince Springer to come back to radio”-
poor pj- driven mad by the snow already; and with several more months to go :omg:
I tried to get this message to Mark Green responding to his AAR Cruise e-mail last week
May I suggest that in the absence of this talent on the cruise that maybe you go retro and try to re-create AAR 1.0 and bring back people like Maron and Riley and Kent Jones and Jim Earl and Winstead and Seder full-time w/ Janeane and the rest who were there in the beginning before management started screwing everything up. You’d make a lot of friends and maybe save the sinking ship.
but it returned as undeliverable.
eya gang!
been busy, but missed you all.
delighted mandarin oranges are now available!
Hey, SJ, nice to see ya.
Back from the mall! It wasn’t nearly as crowded as I thought it would be, maybe because everyone still has a couple of days left to squeeze in the last-minute stuff.
Which was fine by me, because I got a three-hour late start. Probably too much celebrating Global Orgasm Day yesterday. (Write your own punchlines.)
Weird, I don’t know what to think of this.
:fustrate: So, I’m sitting here going through my Case Management magazines for CEUs because I have to have 80 CEUs by May 1 to renew my certification 🙄 — I need 26.75 more and can manage that but it’s    to go through some of this shit.
But, did you know that the Case Management Society of America went to Capitol Hill on Oct 26th to begin educating Congress on the important role case managers play in the healtcare arena? Me neither until I realized I need these goddam CEUs — but later in the article about who they met (Bill Frist flunkies, Kay Baily Hutchinson flunkies, James Talent flunkies among others :fu: :fu: ) they also met with the White House Health Offical Special Assistant to the President for Economic Policy —
and her name is —……. wait for it ……
Julie Goon :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2:
Sorry, but I thought that is such an appropriate name for anyone working in the Bush Administration. Wonder if she was born a Goon or if she married one. :billcat:
And here’s a Google for Julie Goon
She’s basically one of Bill Frist’s flunkies via Humana. :barf: :yuck:
These people are SO disgusting. :yuck:
Have I said yet how much I hate them?? :rant1: :rant1: 😡 😡
:smack: :fu: ing evil pigs.
Well, back to the CEU pursuits.
:fist: A!I!V! :fist:
My little granddaughter is coming for Christmas and I have a live tree in the house for the first time in 35 years and I’m really tired.
Hey, SueP —
Lucky you to have your little granddaughter visit for Christmas :yippee: —
Enjoy the wonderful smell of a live tree (make sure someone keeps it watered — not yellow doggie water :pup: ). Hope you have a great holiday & GET SOME REST!!
I called quittin’ time  for CEU :crap: for today and am sitting here watching some silly martial arts cops robbers shootemup goofy Black Chinese thing that looks like it’s supposed to be comedy in HD and have no clue what’s going on. :billcat:
So, what else is new
That would be Jackie Chan, in Rush Hour.
😮 😮 :omg: WOW!! This is AWESOME!! :omg: 😮
More Indian Nations should follow suit — I hope the Haudenosaunee do — I’ll renounce US Citizenship & move to The Nation (as the Onondaga Nation is called) in a heartbeat. They have a strong presence around here and have very good relationship with influential entities such as Syracuse University which has been very supportive of their historic Land Rights Action.
This Lakota action is extremely interesting. 😮 😮
I still think the Indians should try the rusty old freighter approach and demand the southwest as their new homeland .. worked for someone else :reaper: :reaper:
Hey, Fred — the North American continent has always been the “homeland” of Native Americans — there’s nothing “new” about it. Our European ancestors — most notably Christopher Columbus — stole the land and resources from them under the Doctrine of Discovery. The people who lived here who we have received so much from were considered as non-humans because they were not Christians — The Pope said so, so it had to be so.
It gets very very complicated when you start learning shit beyond what they taught you in school.
:omg:
