So, back to work again today. What a revoltin’ development. I have a feeling this is gonna be the longest two day week in history. Well, the only way to get it over with is to get it started, I guess. Have fun.

Made it to work safely without being mauled by any gators. It’s a little chilly and foggy this morning, so they’re probably laying low until it warms up.
Speaking of bottom-feeding reptiles, Guili Rudiani was in town begging for money again yesterday. Did you know that terrorists want to kill us, and could strike at any minute?
:omg:
Assclown.

CNN is reporting that Benazir Bhutto has died.

Benazir Bhutto ‘killed in blast’
Pakistani former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto has been killed in a presumed suicide attack, a military spokesman has announced on TV.

R.I.P. Benazir Bhutto :reaper: ๐ Horrible way for anyone to die — and I always think about the folks who end up cleaning up the mess, because I have direct experience cleaning up bloody messes. Very icky :yuck: & very sad. The smell of blood and death is not pleasant — except maybe to the Bush Administration, ghouls that they are.
Musharraf’s murderers succeeded this time. I find this to be extremely scary and wonder if the CIA has anything to do with this. Does SOA have classes in suicide bombing? Will the U.S.A. go the way of Pakistan? Holy :crap: ! :paranoid: :tinfoil:
And Medea Benjamin’s report on her trip to Pakistan and subsequent forced deportation is pretty interesting. :paranoid: :paranoid: :paranoid:
Oh, well, got lotsa shit to do today. :fustrate:
And here’s more info on today’s assassination. :paranoid: :tinfoil: ๐
How long before Musharraf declares a “state of emergency” again? Things are going to get much ๐ก er in Pakistan in coming days – what a mess. Glad Medea got out when she did — or, rather was kicked out. :growl: Wouldn’t want to see anything happen to her.

Bhutto’s death is really bad news for the whole region. She certainly would have been a force for peace and reconciliation, just the thing the bu$hies don’t want.
Minnie, the dog, is at the vet having the growth on her leg removed. I’m waiting for the vet to call to let me know how she’s doing.
Poor doggie! :pup:
aakaAman, I have been trying to find out a little more about this killing and suspect what you say. However, Ms. Bhutto would have to have been mauled by a berzerk tiger for any insight to come through.
BBC news forum reactions from people around the world are pretty interesting.
May Minnie :pup: have a good recovery from surgery & may the growth be benign. :peace:
Two of the local reich-wing radio stations (are there any other kind?) had self-identified Pakistani ‘experts’ talking about how importent it was for the “U.S. interests” to keep Mushariff in office- not much in the way of sympathy for Bhutto.
soupP, early best wishes for 2008 being better for you and yours and hopes that all end up on the good foot :pup: :tap:
My dad :cake: . He does not know how old he is but he knows he was born in ’22. Or maybe he just does not remember what year it is.
Thank You RAGING Granny, for 17 BBC news forum reactions from people around the world are pretty interesting.
And :peace: and Prayers for you, Minnie ….. :pup:

Happy :cake: to Vernon’s dad!
Lots of people have to do ciphering to figure out how old they are — and the older you are, the faster you run out of fingers, so it gets harder to figure out how old you are. Then the other thing is that you need to know what the current year is, and the way things are today, lots of people have subliminable wishes for it to be pre 9/11/2001, so it’s hard to acknowledge the present or even want to look at the damn calendar. But I guess age would be counted differently on the Mayan Calendar.
I already feel like I am in 2008 :yuck: and it doesn’t feel too good :barf:
:omg: :omg: :omg: :tinfoil:
Funny thing is that most of a year I was saying I was a certain age and when the next b’day rolled around I realized that I had to re-live that age for one more year. As the years go on, I realize that I am a lot like my father and I am not necessarily pleased.
NPR says Bush did not know and had never spoken to Bhutto. That will probably change now.

Joe Scarborough seems to think Bhutto’s assassination is good for Guidi Ruliani.
pj, you forgot Hillary :tap:
I don’t believe the Bhutto thing may force me to listen to Hartmann today. Oh, wait, Jenna Bush is on Rachael Ray this morning. Never mind.
Bush needs to run and hide … he and his administration, as was in BBC, is at fault. A!I!V!
I do NOT understand this society, letting that BITCH LIAR Jenna Bush SPEAK, AT ALL! Does everyone here forget the lies she and her twit-sister said before 2004 election? :growl: :fist: A!I!V! :fist: :growl:

Thanks for the good wishes for Minnie. I am going to pick her up in 45 minutes and I’ll get a chance top really talk to the vet. We’ll know more then.
Happy birthday to your dad, Vernon. Forgetting one’s age is one of the few blessing of getting older.

Vernon, Merrie Your Father’s Time of birth. :cake: If he was Irish, it would be like my Grandfather, always speaking in the furture … to add confusion.
My Dad may not remember how old he is or what year it is but he still catches all of my bad jokes (ignores the worst) and gives as good as he gets and doesn’t like repugs. I always feel badly for him when baseball season ends.
Happy B’day Verndad, and best wishes to Minnie.
Oh, man, if I’d only known about these before Xmas. A George Foreman USB iGrill!
I knew it, Hillary killed Bhutto!
Minnie is home but there is still some worry. The growth was fairly extensive and the vet had to do extensive surgery. She has sent the tissue for a biopsy but we will not know the results for at least 10 days, especially because of the holidays.
I’m worried but there is nothing I can do but wait. Minnie is happy to be home and has her usual fine appetite. Although she can’t stand on the affected paw, she doesn’t seem to be in pain and she had little trouble making it onto the couch.
I do appreciate all the good wishes. Thanks Vernon for the good 2008 wishes.

Hi De Ho, Minnie!

Hey, Marc has a blog post on myspace
From Juan Cole via Digby:
The problem is exacerbated by a dramatic drop-off in U.S. expertise on Pakistan. Retired American officials say that, for the first time in U.S. history, nobody with serious Pakistan experience is working in the South Asia bureau of the State Department, on State’s policy planning staff, on the National Security Council staff or even in Vice President Cheney’s office. Anne W. Patterson, the new U.S. ambassador to Islamabad, is an expert on Latin American “drugs and thugs”; Richard A. Boucher, the assistant secretary of state for South and Central Asian affairs, is a former department spokesman who served three tours in Hong Kong and China but never was posted in South Asia. “They know nothing of Pakistan,” a former senior U.S. diplomat said.
Current and past U.S. officials tell me that Pakistan policy is essentially being run from Cheney’s office. The vice president, they say, is close to Musharraf and refuses to brook any U.S. criticism of him. This all fits; in recent months, I’m told, Pakistani opposition politicians visiting Washington have been ushered in to meet Cheney’s aides, rather than taken to the State Department.
