Finally, Friday’s here. This has been one long week, and I have a feeling today is gonna feel about half a week long, at least. We’re less than 500 comments away from 100,000 here. Back in the good old days, we’d have had that nailed before 2008 rolls around, but not anymore, I guess. Anyhow, let’s get this goddamn day over with already.
:slap: :reaper: SiCKO Land :reaper: :slap: today :yuck:
:smack:
Have a good day, Bloggies.
My heart remains heavy 🙁 🙁
**poof**
We’re less than 500 comments away from 100,000 here. Back in the good old days, we’d have had that nailed before 2008 rolls around, but not anymore, I guess.
Quality, not size. Part of the reason we had more comments “back in the good old days” was the Nicki and Susan Show. Does anyone actually miss that?
Besides, “back in the good old days” is such a Republican concept. Not that there’s anything wrong with… oh, wait. There is.
The REAL good old days are coming, when we throw Bush and Cheney out of office and hold them accountable, and keep idiots like Giuliani, Willard, Fuckabee, Walnuts and Fredhorn from seizing power.
As a popular Christmas song says (and I heard it a LOT this year), war is over if you want it.
RIP Benazir Bhutto, another victim of the Bush/Cheney war machine.
:peace:
I don’t comment enough, I know. But I never miss a morning reading.
Love you all,
RAGING Granny … I agree, this “hit” of Benazir Bhutto affects this world and my eyes (which are a window to my heart). 🙁 🙁

❓ ❓ ❓ Whatever :sheep: le
One thing I miss – not miss, exactly, but it was a fun night – was live-blogging the final Marc Maron Show back in July of 2006. We had over 700 comments for that one day alone (plus we got to hear Druid call in live). Of course, I was rotting in my cell at Catholic University at that time, and it was one of the few MM shows I was able to stay up and listen to live. Drank a hell of a lot of beer that night. Just too bad the show had to end.
BTW :pirate: :yippee: RAGING Granny is ALPHA :growl: She is #1 :pirate: :yippee:
Kevin is BETA, :pirate: :yippee: This Is 🙄 Danu’s Fav. :pup:
 RIP Benazir Bhutto, another victim of the Bush/Cheney war machine. :growl:
Cheers Diva, which is GAMMA (thank you PJ, really.) :pirate: :yippee:
You Do better than me. I hardly have time to backread. My Bad :spank: 🙄 😉
ARREST! IMPEACH! Then Intense V!
re: #7- Kevin, I hope you’re right. I figure at best there’s a 50% chance that we’ll have a fair election. Percentages in 2000 and 2004 weren’t in our favor. Even here in Colorado where dems control everything but the very importent office of Secretary of State, Mike Coffman (rethug) disapproved of most electronic voting machines which in the real world would be a good thing. But his solution is to use the “patches” that these same corrupt companies are offering. One of his staffers formally worked for one of the voting machine buisnesses. (Not to mention the 100,000 additional soldiers the giggling killer as posted to the Springs)
You connect the dots.
Has Florida been fixed? Has Ohio been fixed? Well, you could say the “fix” is in. Is any Dem tracking in double figures over the rethugs? Why would these murderous criminals who’ve literally killed hundreds of thousands to boost their power just walk away due to a fair election? :omg:
I hope that we will have something to celebrate- we’re calling it “Get out of prison day” :pup:
Here’s hoping :tinfoil:
Most Literate U.S. Cities: Minneapolis and Seattle
Residents of Minneapolis and Seattle are the most bookish and well-read, according to results from a new survey released today of the most literate American cities.
The survey focused on 69 U.S. cities with populations of 250,000 or above. Jack Miller of Central Connecticut State University chose six key indicators to rank literacy. These included newspaper circulation, number of bookstores, library resources, periodical publishing resources, educational attainment and Internet resources.
Overall, the top 10 most literate (and wired) cities included:
1—Minneapolis, Minn.
2—Seattle, Wash.
3—St. Paul, Minn.
4—Denver, Colo.
5—Washington, D.C.
6—St. Louis, Mo.
7—San Francisco, Calif.
8—Atlanta, Ga.
9—Pittsburgh, Pa.
10—Boston, Mass.

Literate in this case seems to mean you have the opportunity to be literate .. How the land of the IDIOT MORON can place fourth is beyond me.. :reaper: :reaper:
I think there’s a chance that the Republicans realize just how much Bush/Cheney has screwed things up, and are willing to get a Democratic Administration in there to do ‘unpopular’ things like ‘lose’ the war in Iraq, raise taxes, and take the blame for the coming recession/depression – and everything else the Bushies and their sycophants in Congress have screwed up the past eight years. Then they can come in in 2010 and take back Congress, and in 2012, take back the White House, and have a lock again.
Plus, they’ll continue to control the Supreme Court, with the only likely replacements being from the ‘liberal’ side. And even with a Democrat in the White House, you won’t see a Ginsburg appointed (much less confirmed), since the Republicans will have no qualms about using the filibuster, and the Democrats will never use the “nuclear” option.
The Bushies won’t even have to worry about going to prison, since the Democrats will just want to “move on” (which means being stonewalled by Republicans who will be happy to be obstructionists while calling the Democrats “do-nothing”).
Fred, I hear you are just coming out of a major snow storm

pj, you little ray of sunshine, I don’t think that I was around here for the 700 club so I may have to re-create your magical memory of that night.

Hey, Robin Wright is soon to be up for grabs. Watch out, honey!
Well, Vernon, if you want to relive the night of 720 posts, it’s still here. Takes a while to load, though. And, yes, you were there, under your previous incarnation.
BTW RE 2, I liked the Nicki Rose and Susan Joy Show…I am up most nights – now no one to talk to during work. If I wanted to say something, I just would break in. He’s a Creative Firery Aries and she is a certain type of Libra, as am I, so fairly intense upon things we care about, I guess this why some were pushed away. I just got back on “the web” that Thursday/Friday and read the Fight. I think All was handled incorrectly by most everyone. I do not think all directions were “seen”. We hold some MAJOR, different beliefs, especially she and I. And I think I (sometimes sadly alone on many opinions) have fought with some here, even with Susan Joy and Nicki Rose. :slap:
I just believed as this being a DEM-ish Microcosm/Macrocosm place. :dancers: A!I!V!
SBlueHeron, & :cat: back at thee & those ye Care for. 😉 copying you from the FUTURE from me from the PAST. 😉

looks like I made a cameo. Is the TMMS blog still out there somewhere? I can never remember how to find them.
Hey there, Sblue.
You can get to Maron on AAR here.
BTW Penn, Wright Splitsville … Inconceivable!
Well, Vernon, if you want to relive the night of 720 posts, it’s still here. Takes a while to load, though. And, yes, you were there, under your previous incarnation.
Gee that was a trip down memory lane, although the last day of MS weren’t there about 1400 posts?
There weren’t many posts over here until the MS blog finally wound down. On the final day, there were 59 posts here. On the next day, we got 69, including a post from Kent Jones, thanking the fans for our support:
The first day we hit 100 was on 12/19/05, with 147. First day over 200 was 1/16/06, with 268. Had over 300 on 1/30/06, but not in one thread; that was the Scalito filibuster day, and there was a separate thread for the cloture vote.
Had 371 on 2/28/06 – the first day of the Marc Maron Show. Things slowed down a lot after that, as people jumped over to the AAR blog, but gradually built back up again (especially since most of us here in the east couldn’t really listen to the show, since it was on so late). But the final MMS was the record.
It must have been the aar blog with the 1400 or so posts.
America jumps the shark.
But hours before the meeting began, a majority of the council publicly announced on the front page of the local paper that they were going to approve demolition, no matter what people said at the meeting. The paper, the developers, and others were delighted. Residents and affordable housing allies were not.
Inside, the council started the meeting surrounded by armed police, National Guard, and undercover authorities from many law enforcement agencies.
Story Here
Yeah, I think the final MS show day had a ton of posts at AAR, plus they left it up for quite a while (I have to give ’em credit for that much, at least; AAR and Danny Goldberg got trashed hard and heavy, and they never took anything down).
1411 comments, still available, thanks to the Internet Archive. Well, partially still available. Just the first page of posts, I guess.
I don’t know if you guys heard this, but Mark Riley announced this AM on WWRL that he’s leaving. He mentioned “going home” so my guess is he’s going back to WLIB. I do know who the new co-host will be but “if I told you I’d have to :tommygun: you.” (kidding!) No, it isn’t Marc Maron. But it also isn’t Armstrong Williams either.
Andy aka Aquaman: AaA a thriple threat 😉
Thank You!
BrilliantatBreakfast:: So Sad 🙁 , I just hope he is not quiting. A!I!V!
:alc: to better times. I copied the little I got to blog with marc the last night. Proudly displayed on the wall next to my desk. I think that might have been the first night I joined the MS blog. I didn’t ‘get’ the Nikki and Susan Rose show. 😯
Nice tease, J-Brill. Guess we’ll wait but I don’t think I heard one minute of the Riley-Bey show. I can’t imagine the new co-host will be worth a damn like a Kent Jones. I assume it is only a local show anyway.
So now it sounds like Bhutto killed herself, cracking her skull on the sunroof and she should never have stuck it out to begin with. Fat Headdie thinks she wasted our money popping her head up out of the car. :smack:
Damn! I’ll really miss Riley. He ran a good show with Bey, they were a good team and converted a lot of the Armstrong Williams yahoos, I mean fans. I guess I’m stuck with WHTG for my mornings.
I don’t know about Riley going back to WLIB, tho. I know he’s a faithful protestant, but their all-gospel programming may not have a place for him. However, I do remember a craigslist ad for WNYC that they were looking for morning show staff. That could be his “home”
Malloy had this on last night and now Jeff is talking about it. An interview with Bhutto this last November where she names the murderer of Osama Bin Laden. ❓ It’s almost halfway through.

A moment of silence for Netscape, please. 😥
Can you give dogs ham bones? :pup: ❓
According to this page at the U of Minnesota:
I dunno, these ham bones are big. She couldn’t swallow them unless she can chew it up and I can’t remember if ham bones splinter like poultry does. There’s a lot of meat on there that she would LOVE!
Southern humans call them ham bones soup fixins to be revered. (Removed) Make black eyed peas for New Year’s Day.
Vernon, thank you for making sure that the stories about the real Rudy are duly posted. I had to go to Connecticut today, but I read the Oxycontin story on the way, thinking that it should grace this blog
Kristapea, the last dog I feed ham bones to ended up costing me $300. The diarrhea those bone shards caused was very expensive to cure. For a couple of weeks she had to have meds and a special diet.
I took Minnie with me, of course, to Connecticut. She seems to be feeling better. Tomorrow we’re making an early morning trip back to Brooklyn, so the vet can check up on her.
I already made soup with the bone, and it wuuuuz gooooo oood! But there’s some meat left on it.
If you have already recooked the ham bone, don’t give to the dog. It is more likely to break up.
Okay, I won’t give it to her. I’ve heard beef bones are fine and I know chicken bones are a big no but I wasn’t sure about pork.
Bush claims Senate’s pro forma sessions don’t count
by Kagro X
That veto George W. Bush threatened of the Defense authorization bill? The one with the troops’ pay raise in it?
He hasn’t even got the stones to put his signature to it:
” The adjournment of the Congress has prevented my return of H.R. 1585 within the meaning of Article I, section 7, clause 2 of the Constitution. Accordingly, my withholding of approval from the bill precludes its becoming law. The Pocket Veto Case, 279 U.S. 655 (1929). In addition to withholding my signature and thereby invoking my constitutional power to “pocket veto” bills during an adjournment of the Congress, I am also sending H.R. 1585 to the Clerk of the House of Representatives, along with this memorandum setting forth my objections, to avoid unnecessary litigation about the non-enactment of the bill that results from my withholding approval and to leave no doubt that the bill is being vetoed.”
That’s right, civics fans: Bush is claiming this is a “pocket veto,” as defined in Article I, section 7 of the Constitution:
http://www.dailykos.com/storyonly/2007/12/28/171914/13/822/427337
You can find as many people who say no bones at all as you can bones are OK. Our vet says bones are actually too hard, and you should stick to hard dog treats like milk bones (but not rawhide, which is also too hard).
I also hear a lot of people say raw food (like chickens) is the way to go, bones and all. BARF (biologically appropriate raw food). Other people say raw food is a killer. Cooked bones bad. Cooked bones good.
You know what they say about opinions. It’s true, everybody has one.
My Opinion: Regarding Dogs (had since BORN)
NEVER COOKED BONES.
RAW BEEF ONLY.
(I also confirmed with numerous Vets, throughout my life to this ripe 108 yr old crone.)
Remember Pork is the “Other” White Meat (similar to chicken) so they claim and I do know it is a softer bone. But if given — ONLY WHEN RAW AND LARGE, so they cannot swallow.
MY past wolves and hybrids and current hybid (3/4 wolves and 1/4 Malamute) can eat what they like. But if they ever were to choke I have stuck my hand/fingers down throats, even cats (other friends, since Stray cats seem to eat chicken, but I peal off cooked bones, but they have chewed on larger COOKED bones when I left Larger bones for Danu. BUT I have had mostly LARGE DOGS THEN Wolves, Wolf Hybrids, and Strays.
If medium or small dog:
In a grocery store you can BUY (I did for Wolves and dogs)(one can get in Meat Dept – sometimes free sometimes a dollar or 2) Soup/Dog “Raw” Beef Bones. They just have soooo much fun with with the RAW Beef bones – … I 🙁 might have to get for Danu for the NY’sEVE whilst I :alc: & :bong: — shoot I might just start that concept SOON :dancers:
since I can not “find” peace with the Sacred Murder. I feel this is similar to when JFK was murdered. I feel like this is a Warning Heralding of what is happening here.
BTW Vets say similar to what PJ said …Milk bones (re PIG’s Ears NOT EVER by me for MY WOLVES).
Just My Opinion and personal experiences. 🙂 … :growl: :fist: A!I!V!

Kathy Bey did some research on the guy who Bhutto named as the murderer of Ben Laden (Achmed (?) Sayeed Shiekh)
Highly educated english Muslim who was recruited by the British M-1 in graduate school. Allegedly the same guy who murdered Daniel Pearl- who also might have been a british agent ( 😮 ) After that, it becomes very very murky. I think Malloy might have implied that they guy who Pearl was on his way to interview would have spilled the beans on Ben Laden being dead- and the CIA couldn’t let that cat out of the bag (please excuse all the stale metaphors) :yuck:
Life is a Metaphor. ( :rofl2: LBH ).

Sue P- do you think 08 elections will be stolen because the BFEE is intoxicated with the power or will ‘let’ us win because we’re powerless and will take the blame for the war, the deficeit, the housing fiasco and then take back congress in 10 and the WH in 12.
This was a topic this morning
