It’s Saturday. Saturdays make me think of Sundays. Sundays make me think of Mondays. And Mondays make me think of, well, suicide.
Oh, not that boo-hoo, my life is so horrible I want to throw myself into the bog of eternal stench suicide. More like, quit my job, start charging everything to my credit cards, go to minimum payments, borrow against my retirement, live off my savings, survive until it all comes crashing down on me, and then put a bullet in my brain (leaving aside, for the moment, that I don’t own a gun and am a coward).
If I went with just the basics that are important to me (beer, satellite TV, and broadband Internet access), I bet I could go for quite a while. Years, maybe (I’d just have to start accepting all those credit card offer I keep getting, get rid of the vehicles, and maybe pawn a few bills off on granny). And it’s quality of life that counts, right? I just can’t see that going to work every day gives me any kind of quality of life. It’s like I have a terminal disease, and working is the chemo that temporarily keeps me alive, but feeling feeble and nauseated (except work happens to be both the treatmen and the disease). Better to quit the treatment, and enjoy whatever time I have left in this miserable existence.
Anyhow, that’s my cheerful thought for the day.
PJ, I try not to think about going to work until I m going to work. But, I don’t hate my job, which helps a lot.
Fred, Minnie is 9. Not ancient for a dog. And she’s in good shape. Still, I would not amputate her leg or do something that would be extraordinarily painful for her, or any animal. I try to separate my desire to keep her from what her quality of life is or would be.
So far, the vet thinks we can treat her without too much pain and restrictions. As long as that is true, and assuming we can afford it, that’s what we’ll do. Lovely lady vet is in agreement.
:joe: :joe: :joe: :joe: :joe: ๐ฎ ๐ฎ :yuck: :crap: :paranoid: ๐ฏ ๐ฏ
AAAARRRRGGGGG :sheep: le
Uh oh, PJ’s getting dread belly. I can’t bring myself to look for a job anymore. I wouldn’t be able to find one that paid enough plus I would be miserable. It’s one thing to be miserable at your job but be able to pay your bills and go on vacation, it’s quite another thing when your miserable and not making enough money. Employers think you can live on $8 or $9 an hour and no one bothers to crunch the numbers to see if that’s livable. $12 an hour is barely livable if you have no bills other than food and shelter but good luck trying to get that in this town. :rant1:
Suicide is NOT painless,,,,,,,LBH weak :rofl2: Kinda. PJ But You Have a Big screen TV, you are a computer wiz and MADE YOUR OWN WORLD for us “weird”, misfit toys, you are married to GRANNY :hubba: , YOU ARE Foster Father to SIGGY who had a miracle return :pup: AND YOU HAVE A 8) Telescope :santacool:
That was a LBH Joke :smack: … but, as usual it doesn’t fly ๐
but always with a seed of truth. ๐
Meh…see, if the employers actually cared about their employees, the thought of crunching numbers to see what’s livable or not would even occur to them, but as it stands, it’s nothing but the bottom line to them.
At the same time, I listen to my co-workers complain about oh how poor they are, and oh how they need more money, and in the next breath talk about how great their $100/mo cell phone plan (for one person) is, and how they got a great deal on jeans – they only paid $65 for an $80 pair! And how they spent all night at the bar or the casino or the club… Or how they just had to get their kid the latest in video game technology, or into the latest irritating Disney concert… ๐
Not saying this is your case, Kristapea, or anyone else’s here, but it does seem to be the pervading theme. I dunno..where would a person draw the line, I guess. We could cancel the internet and the cell phone plan, and there’d be almost an extra $100 in our pockets. But hey…we won’t be doing that since we actually use the web, and the phones are a good safety to have when out and about, at least.
Also, further proof of the evils of corporations. Plus kittens.
Oh, Clinger…you and your wacky cross-dressing hijinks…
Gotta Feed The Fire cuz :cold: ๐ฎ :growl: :fist: A!I!V! :fist: HiiiYaaa
The scorpion is stuck in the dark side again. :reaper: Sensory and stress overload from a less than satisfying job and a world reeling out of control throws him into the doldrums every so often. Most of us tend to have doldrum time now & then. You just have to keep going. Suicide is never an answer because it doesn’t end anything but the physical body.
Thanks, Dru, for reminding him of the positive things he has in his life — the :pup: especially is the light of his life. We are kind of working on getting another :pup: to keep Siggy company. PJs sister is involved with the local German Shepherd Rescue and they come across all kinds of wonderful :pup: s in need of homes.
Dru, I hope you’re not getting too much blowback from all of this. :cold: Stay warm, light the fire /!\ and brew a nice tankard of tea :knit: :pent:

#6 — Hey, MQ — top o’ the day to ya :jesus:
I really liked the 5 popular Nazi brands article you linked to — scary. The :cat: was the best  . We have the Corporation DVD here & it looks to be worth a re-watch, although it is a huge time investment. Scary how the “gift” (which in German means “poison” — very appropriate) of fascism is a “gift” that keeps on giving. :bf:
Although, I must say, I really loved my little VW bug  who was named Brunhilde & logged many miles with her when I was young. And your Opa says Onkel Adolf did some very good things for him when he was in the Hitlerjugend (which was mandatory at the time). I just have to bite my tongue when he starts up with that :crap: :fustrate:
Oh, well. Time to move on with the day. :bee:
RAGING Granny :pirate: :yippee: … Because of Life and The World TODAY is why I grew to be a total Misanthrope for a decade or two ๐ , then I met a “crazy” site started to “Keep The Candle Lit Until Marc Comes Home” …
now I am battling between being a Misanthrope :slap: and “The Way I Was”. ….. :tap: A!I!V! :pirate: :cat: & :pup:
moronQueen, I finally got that site :yippee:
I guess the Germans and Hitler needed good Karma immediately. Look at all “we folks” those “bugs” of ALL types carried about. WOW… I had MANY decades in different VWs, especially doing and carrying about people and “stuff” to places.
Thanks for making me stop to “think” & with  remember how dearly I held the many VW’s
:fist: A!I!V! Gotta run and “do” before the rains return. 8) :omg:
RG – Mornin’ mornin’! It is a good artical…I’ve always liked Cracked. I also intend on picking up that Corporation DVD…hadn’t even known about it ’till I saw that clip. Stomach churning stuff. But good to know.
Druid – Yeah…I had the html wrong breifly…hadn’t had my :joe: yet, and even after the caffine infusion, I’m still pretty  . Fighting stress and the omnipresent germies at work wear a person out. Glad you liked the link, too!
It actually reminds me of a conversation I had with one of my bus drivers a couple of months back.
He’d taken a course on racism a few years back, and told me about this one class in the course. The instructor first asked the class what group they thought was the most descrimated against. It was pretty much the expected answers…blacks, Jews, Muslims, etc, etc.
He then asked all the people of German descent to come up on stage. Then he asked everyone who had a grandparent who still speaks the language. Maybe a third of the people raised their hands. He then asked how many of them who had a parent who spoke the language. Most of the hands, save for maybe one or two came, down. Then he asked how many of them spoke the language. The remaining hands went down.
Pretty intersting comment. While not all other nationalities still speak their original tongues, they usually have a stronger grip on their original cultures.Or, I guess, more than just the negative aspects of them.
If you think about it, Hitler and the whole Nazi movement prompted a pretty big expulsion of the German culture from at least the American population. There was talk during WWII of putting people of German descent in the same camps the Japanese were put in, but it wasn’t done because there were so many people of German descent that the nation would have been crippled.
Still, it’s almost as if we should be ashamed to have German in our blood.
Eh…sorry. Off the soap-box! :paranoid:
The California Nurses Association (CNA)/National Nurses Organizing Committee (NNOC) launched a national campaign today in favor of what the group has dubbed “CheneyCare” — guaranteed, publicly-funded health care for all Americans.
The campaign was inspired by the success of the group’s Iowa ads declaring that Vice President Dick Cheney “would be dead” if he did not have publicly-funded health care. A new version of the Iowa ad asking Americans to sign a petition for “CheneyCare” will run today in eight New Hampshire papers before going national in the New York Times, Washington Post, and USA Today, as well as leading political blogs, on Monday.

State GOP withdraws as FOX debate partner
UnionLeader.com has learned that the New Hampshire Republican Party has quit as a co-sponsor of tomorrow night’s nationally televised GOP forum on FOX News.
The 8 p.m. event at Saint Anselm College — the last debate before Tuesday’s primary — had become controversial when FOX refused to include Ron Paul.

I think they framed that Cheney care wrong.. I immediately envisioned being blow up if I got ill ๐ฎ ๐ฎ
Well PJ, Krista I’m still out of work…4500 bucks and counting, at this point I’m thinking a job that sucked would be better than nothing. Which come to think of it is what I had before.
Yeah, the only thing worse than working is not working.
or working after you haven’t been working for a long time. I sorta like that “what day is it?” kinda feeling. :bong:

Heh. Just watched “Paranormal State” on A&E, about trailer trash in Syracuse (Chittenango, actually, but close enough) with a demon in their trailer. They told ’em they couldn’t do an exorcism :priest: until they cleaned up their trailer. :rofl2:
OK, new e-mail sig from Roy Munson (played by Woody Harrelson) in “Kingpin.”

Druid, 3 more posts and you will be top o’ the posters heap.
CheneyCare? Doesn’t that involve taking shots in the face?
Pulled the first double-header of the season at the movies today. No Country For Old Men was up first, then later Walk Hard, which is very funny, especially Jack White as Elvis. Not to mention Jenna Fischer looking :hot: :hot: :hot:
No Country was really good, although extremely violent and a lot of people in the theater didn’t like the ending. Supposedly it’s very faithful to the book, which I wouldn’t know not having read it.
Now to go home and tape Big Love while I watch the Dem debate. I figure if anything interesting happens with the Repigs, Cenk and/or Stephanie will have it on Monday. I don’t think I can drink enough :40: to make the Repigs worth watching anyway.
Jack White plays Elvis?? :hubba: :hot: He looks more like Nick Cave though.
Hey, if HBO shows Big Love during the election season, does that mean they need to provide equal time to all the non-Romney candidates?
God, fuckin’ astounding version of Low Spark of High Heeled Boys with Stevie Winwood and the Grateful Dead on XM Deep Tracks right now. Jeezus, I think I’m melting….
God, you know, it’s just that I used to listen to so much music, back in the day. And now it seems like I hardly ever do. Same with a lot of things. I feel like I’ve given up so many things in my life that I used to like to do, and now I couldn’t even tell you whether I’d still like to do them or not. Christ, if only I could afford a Porsche or something to appease my mid-life crisis. I guess my big fuckin’ TV takes the place of the sports car. Or the affair (not that I’ve had a lot of offers). Wasn’t just the tv, though. The stereo I bought along with it is fucking great. Picture aint no good without the sound.
God, I gotta stop sayin’ God so much.
