Haven’t been able to pry my eyes open wide enough to see how cold it is out there, but it’s pretty friggin’ cold. Glad I don’t have to go far to get to work this morning. I get to start the week in my preferred location, which is a good thing. Besides being close to home, it’s IT land, and I enjoy being able to speak geek with people, without watching their eyes glaze over. Although it makes it a lot tougher to bullshit ’em. Fortunately, I’m a consummate bullshitter.
im number 1 im number 1!!!!!
#19 Kevin, wrong-o! and I think you have to give her one for the Mark Ronson as well.

What I should have posted was that Amy would win AT LEAST three. My bad. And I forgot about Ronson’s nomination, which in hindsight I probably would have called since he was producing everybody last year.
And what a weekend for Obama! Four primaries AND a Grammy. Maybe he should book Amy to sing at the Dem convention.
Actually Willie Nelson is booked to open the Democratic Convention…., not that Denver wants to underline the cowtown stereo-type :tap:
not that I have anything against Willie :bong:

“They” say it is supposed to maybe perhaps snow this afternoon :omg:
One of the “problems” one has around here is that the mountains are getting more and even more snow which one would think would bring big smiles to faces of the ski area operators .. but.. it has messed east west highways up so much you can’t get there from here half the time.
Fred, I saw your post when I was researching a link (I think it was February 1).
It is making a real fire with real wood. :rofl2:
There are many Reasons As To Why. One Important reason is to constantly remind me of the Grave Homeless, which I deal a tad bit with.
A NOLA architect took out part of the 2d floor … (way before me) so I have an awesome… (I think no one wanted it, since it was on the market for around 2 years — but then I came out of the mountains and then was Called. ; ) …yet FREEZING even in late Spring, 3 story Vic, near the bay but amongst the poor & homeless.
Building a Fire in a :cold: cold Vic … And I have it easy, compared to what the homeless has to contend with. A!I!V! :pup: :cat:

‘Jaws’ Actor Roy Scheider Dies at 75
LITTLE ROCK, Ark.)—Roy Scheider, a two-time Oscar nominee best known for his role as a police chief in the blockbuster movie “Jaws,” has died. He was 75.
Scheider died Sunday at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences hospital in Little Rock, hospital spokesman David Robinson said. The hospital did not release a cause of death.
I like today’s Krugman column (but he’s gonna get the Obamites even more pissed at him than they already are).
Here’s a headline you don’t see too often:
Loose chickens force school closure
Rep. Tom Lantos of California, the only Holocaust survivor to serve in Congress, has died, his spokeswoman said Monday.
Lynne Weill said that Lantos, 80, passed away at the Bethesda Naval Medical Center in suburban Maryland.

It is very cold in Brooklyn. The car thermometer said 14 this morning and the wind isn’t making it feel any better. :cold:
Since when under United States law does the military have the power to try foreigners? Beofre the military has any level of power over foreigners we must have a declared war. Only Congress can declare war, not a President who has no respect for the Constitution, U.S. law or internaltional law. When did the United States become such a lawless land?
Since the Military Commissions Act.
Here in this nation of laws the “they” can make up anything they want and call it a law .or refuse to enforce the “laws” already on the books…. you can push back if you have an army of lawyers and the resources to pay them.. or perhaps the resources of Hezzbola or Hamas.. our gubberment calls those who make noise terrorists to the people who have no representation they are called freedom fighters.. Freedom fighters are much higher on the popularity charts than lawyers except .. sigh.. in the land of the IDIOT scardy cat MORON :reaper: :reaper:
The myth of the US covers up the reality. I.e., we have the best healthcare system in the world, the shining city on a hill, the world looks (or perhaps looked) up th the US. All nonsense, that repeated so often, have become truth.
Many Obstacles to Digital TV Reception, Study Says
Nearly six million people with digital receivers may still lose TV signals when digital-only broadcasts begin next February, a new study says.
The study by Centris, a market research firm in Los Angeles, found gaps in broadcast signals that may leave an estimated 5.9 million TV sets unable to receive as many channels as they did before the changeover. It may affect even those who bought the government-approved converter boxes or a new digital TV. To keep broadcast reception, many viewers may have to buy new outdoor antennas, the study found.
The Centris study predicts greater disruption of service than government agencies like the Federal Communications Commission have acknowledged.
The federal government estimates that 21 million American households have primary TV sets that receive only over-the-air signals. But it says most will continue to get a digital signal by means of a digital-to-analog converter box, which costs about $50 to $70. It is helping to underwrite the cost of a converter box by issuing $40 coupons.
from todays NYT..
==============================
According to this employee who used to work for Channel 7 … the over the air transmission of digital signals in an environment where there are lots of reflections caused the digital TV transmission techniques that were originally envisioned to only work in places where the receiver was in line of sight of the TV transmission tower. There are now at least three protocols which your TV receiver must choose one from on the fly depending on what it sees. In some cases it was not possible to transmit the whole picture as one block instead each scan line is marked so that it appears on the screen in the right orientation but adjacient scan lines may not necessarily be received. Some older “digital ready” TeeVee s may not support all three protocols ( or more as they work out the many many many many bugs) so you may have to buy a software upgrade or use an interface box in between your “digital ready TeeVee” and the receiving antenna..
You can see why they had to do this.. they TeeVee manufactures must have gone to Microsoft school… :reaper: :reaper:
They don’t seem to like Mitch down in Kentucky
Relations between Sen. Barack Obama and Fox News Channel haven’t exactly been warm since the Illinois Democrat began his presidential campaign.
A year ago, the cable-news leader pounced on a scurrilous report (since debunked) that Obama attended a radical Islamist madrassa as a child. Later he joined fellow Democrats in boycotting a Fox-sponsored debate.
Since then, a thaw seems to have set in. Obama has appeared on Fox News several times since the madrassa flap. And while he declined an invitation to debate Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) on Feb. 11, his demure probably had more to do with strategy than partisanship.
As it turns out Fox News and the Obama campaign are bound by blood.
David Rhodes, Fox News’ vice president of news, is the older brother of Ben Rhodes, one of the speechwriters responsible for Obama’s orotund oratory.

Maybe this explains the Republican frames that Obama adopts.
