What? Friday already? Hard to believe. I’m starting to get the itch to build a new computer again. Seeing as I have more computers than I know what to do with at the moment, it’s an itch I’ll be trying not to scratch. One of these days, I really ought to learn how to sell these things. Not today, though.
I know everybody is AAR weary but since it looks like Melina and B at B might not get this over here…
It’s all about the C&P.
Yeah, I wish I could care about AAR. Just can’t. Hopefully somebody out there with some money will start producing liberal radio that’s entertaining. I need some funny in my life.
Sam has said nice things about the new owner and perhaps there is some hope of Sam 5 days week.
He also said the Maron/Seder show will be on later, this Tuesday, which is great for me as I can listen to it live.
It is not that I don’t care about AAR, it’s that there is little I want to listen to. I would be thrilled to listen again.
:joe: :joe: :joe: :joe: 😮 😮
:omg: There are :sheep: le out there 😮 😯
Well, I used to think AAR was very important and something to be ‘supported’ because the whole idea of it meant a lot to me – all of us here, I reckon – at the time it started. For one thing, it made me feel as if I wasn’t all alone.
Now, I might care about, say, listening to Sam Seder, but I don’t give a crap whether he’s on AAR or subbing for Malloy on NovaM (which is a bit of a joke, unfortunately), or doing his own thing with Maron (which I am rarely able to actually see – at least, not all the way through).
AAR? Eh. If there happens to be a good show that they have something to do with, then I’ll listen. But it really hasn’t got anything to do with AAR anymore.
As for the ‘new’ management, well, whatever. Been there, done that. I’ll keep my mind (and ears) open, but we’ve never had an affiliate here, and I’ll never feel the same as I did in the months leading up to April 2004 through December 2006.
No offense to them. It’s a ‘business’ decision.
The tragedy of AAR is that the artistry that has managed to sometimes shine through the bullshit has been overshadowed by incredibly ignorant “business decisions.” WTF kind of idiot abandons the morning drive slot to reruns?
Especially considering the greatness of the morning show that was once there.
I’m officially off the fence and on the bandwagon. I donated to the Obama campaign yesterday. It seems like the only option remaining, since Hillary is apparently now campaigning to be McSame’s running mate.
:fu:
I must say, Clinton throwing Obama under the straight talk express is pretty repugnant.
His adviser calling Clinton a monster won’t help his cause either (true or not).
Why do I get the creepy feeling that President McCain is in our future?
McCain/Rice ticket?
Oy.

Authorities investigating possible fraud by a longtime GOP operative have determined that the House Republican campaign committee has lost a substantial sum of money, and several GOP lawmakers believe funds were pilfered from their campaign accounts as well, law enforcement and Capitol Hill sources said yesterday.

Sam was laughing about this, yesterday. What the article doesn’t mention is that Ward was involved with the Swiftboaters.
It seems to me that if you hire a liar (even if he lies to help YOU) he’s still a liar and a rather bad candidate for a position that involves honesty, such as treasurer.
Looks like Bill Clinton will be at the Penn State Delaware County campus today around 2:00. Maybe I’ll swing by and ask about Hillary’s stand on Iraq and when we get out. Course I pretty much know the answer.
Job losses: Worst in 5 years
Payrolls sink in February, fueling recession anxiety. Unemployment rate declines, but that’s because there are fewer people in the workforce.
Reagan rewrote how the unemployed are counted. An economics professor and a North Carolina ESC officer both told me that method counts about one third of those people actively looking for work. Only people actually collecting unemployment insurance are counted in the Reagonomics method.
More evidence that our government has been forcing Americans to view the world through rosy glasses for over a generation. The gbiggest export the United States has had for over 35 years is manufacturing jobs. Now it is real estate ownership. And the rethugs are proud of this.
Well, except the real people aren’t fooled by accounting tricks. And the more unemployed the better from the perspective of employers. Better to have a desperate population – they work cheaper.
They also played with the way they figure inflation. Those of us who are too stupid to know better could swear that costs are rising at an alarming rate.
Thank god there are economists and people like Flathead Friedman to edumacate us.
Don’t know about the rest of you, but after what I have heard and read in the media the last two days I have had enough of the Clinton Clan for one lifetime. The Clintonites are starting to sound like Joe Liebermann. Time to start writing emails to her campaign asking her to defer to someone we can trust.
Still don’t think Obama has enough experience but there is no way he can ever be as unprepared as Bush 43 or Gerald Ford.
PJ what is the model of your laptop with the sound problem?
“Core” inflation does not consider food, fuel or housing. Those items are considered cyclical. However, flip-flops, movie tickets, automobiles and hair spray are not.
The soy milk I get went up in price over a dollar within a couple of weeks.
It’s an Inspiron 700m. Not sure if it’s because I had it all apart and didn’t get it back together correctly or not. It isn’t just the speakers, ‘cuz it’s the same deal if I plug in headphones. If the source has very high audio levels and I turn all the volumes up all the way, I can just barely hear sound. That’s about it. Got the latest and greatest drivers and all that; didn’t help.
Do you have an ftp that I could send this to you?
I can’t get at it from work to turn it on, unfortunately.
Just let me know. I’ve got a customer later this morning and I’m supposed to have a second interview this afternoon with t-mobile.
Good luck with the T-Mobile interview. I hope it’s something that you’ll like doing, and pays well.

That webpage doesn’t work this morning. Just wanted to voice my opinion, that Clinton has been an embarassment to the Party and the entire clan should withdraw from the campaign.
Krista, all farm field products are headed up because the farmers are switching to fuel corn. Less soy, wheat and edible corn grown so those prices go up. The edible corn also is used to produce corn oil and corn syrup which most of our processed foods contain. Feed corn for live stock has also been hurt, which drives up the price of all meats. Last week an analyst predicted meat prices would rise 50% this year.
It gets even more painful when one considers how much water is required to grow and process this fuel corn. It takes about as much energy and effort to produce the corn-based fuel as you get in the end. The end result is no fuel gain but everything else is sky high, a real Republican utopian knee slapper.
Our current agricultural planning is as good as our economic and energy planing. It is not looking good but we sure don’t want a gubment with some overview and control interfearing with the free market place now, do we? :tap:
At Trader Joe’s last week, I noticed that the eggs I bought last year for 99 cents are selling now for $1.89. I may have to start raising chickens myself. It’s all good if Chuck stays 2 buck but beer’s bound to go up. I may have to start brewing my own. :40:
That’s pretty expensive too, I’m afraid. Worldwide hop shortage.
I propose we make alcohol out of
rethugs.. cockroaches after all they supposedly made diesel fuel from chicken entrails. :reaper: :reaper:Wha’ hoppened?
Yeah, I heard. That was tongue in cheeky. I do feel better after spending more on beer than a lot of other things like gas. Call me an Ignorant Spending More-On.
What’s going on with the price of smack?
I have seen prices at the super market go up but the meat and other perishable things seem to just sit there until near the expiration date. when they go on sale for less than it cost before the price went up.. The market is working but the supplier has to be eying bankruptcy.
One of the Amerikan Orwellian observation of Communism was that it failed on the domestic front because central planning failed to provide essential needs but that would never happen here because we have a market driven economy,..
I think in both cases its a case of absolute power corrupting absolutely. :tap: :tap:
Wha’ hoppened?

How many rocks are they going to crawl out from under?
Yeah Hillary Clintodork campaigning out of the rethug campaign book of slime isn’t impressing anyone but perhaps the IDIOT MORONS but.. it is a well known fact that IDIOT MORONS have to be told what to think and live most of their lives curled up in a fetal position under their bed waiting to attacked by some terrorist .. not realizing that the wolf most often comes dressed in rethug or DLC democrats clothing. :reaper: :reaper:
One of the things that almost no one has talked about ( probably because the talkers are also IDIOT MORONS) is that the job growth numbers posted by the B* admin which they were so proud of were not even big enough to keep up with the number of people wanting to enter the work force because of population growth and to replace the loss of older workers. They have lagged like 40k to 100k jobs per month just to account for that for most their 7 years in office.. :reaper:
A lot of colleges are finding that there charade of the benefits of a college education leads to living with mom and dad and after a year or two getting a job if you are lucky stocking the shelves at the Kroger… With the cost of college going up, the jobs to pay back the student loans after graduating non existent the next big place to see mass layoffs and closing may well be in the higher education business..
Now one would think that with four something percent unemployment that would not be case .. but with maybe 15% unemployment that would be pretty much the norm that it seems to be. .. :tap: :tap:
No shortages at the foodmart? Other than field crops and maybe beef, we import more food than we produce. So many of our salad and veggy side dish crops are seasonal and labor intensive.
Whtat really worries me is the rapid disappearance of many seafoods. The Chesapeake is losing species almost the same way as the sardines disappeared from California, leading to Steinbeck’s Cannery Row. An east coast sequel would be something like Southeast Asian Sweatshop Canneries. Not very epic or entertaining.
 Fat Heady doesn’t understand a diddly about about half of what he babbles about .. unfortunately.. his audience doesn’t understand a diddly about most everything he babbles about.. :reaper: :reaper:
Talk radio for the IDIOT MORON :tap: :tap:
Unemployment is 4.8. That’s because a very large number of people have “left” the job seeking ranks. They have stopped collecting unemployment insurance and they are not actively seeking work…whatever that means.
Bushco has been touting that number, this morning, as proof that all is wonderful. But, even crazy Larry Kudlow admits we may be headed toward a short, shallow, you won’t feel a thing, recession.
Others think we just might be already in a recession. You think?
The really important news is that Lola, of Palemale and Lola fame, has laid her first egg, meaning that in about a month we’ll have newly hatched hawks to watch, while we wait for the end of Bushco.
http://www.palemale.com/
Boeing is the only company in the SBR ( more or less) that builds large airplanes ( there used to be three) so if you want a completive bid you have to go off shore..
There is a Canadian company that is the only company in North America that builds stainless steel passenger cars … Thats because AMTRAK paid them 300 million dollars to re create Pullmans 1970s technology which had been sold to the Germans and the Chinese when they went down the tubes.
Thats because when there is no demand for the product people quit making it and are really unlikely to ramp up to make more when you decide to buy two more fifteen years later…
Politicians being IDIOT MORONS never seem to understand that.. :tommygun: :tommygun: ..
http://www.businessweek.com/ap/financialnews/D8UTN8G00.htm
Well…
If you just look at sales tax revenue in Colorado on things that most consumers might buy they are (were) almost back up to where they were in 2001.. The IDIOT MORON politicians just sit there in denial that there is a problem and when it comes to the surface they conveniently sweep it under the carpet. IDIOTS :tap: :tap:
The word “recession” means a precipitous fall in the
stock marketcrap shoot to a rethug ..means standing in a line at a soup kitchen while living in your car to most everyone else. :tommygun: :tommygun:I just had the last of three exams in my chem class today. Now I have that dreaded final to study for that’s two weeks away. Just need 50% on the final and 30% on the test I took today and I’ll be able to float by with a 2.0.
I think I’ve heard the term stagflation to describe the situation.
Don’t know much about economics, but I can say that living out of your car is not fun.
I found Chemistry and Physics tests the most difficult to study for .. You either knew it or you didn’t… all the cramming in the world was usually to no avail. :tap: :tap:
Sue P, Like I said before, even this government says the unemployment figure does not accurately reflect the people out of work or even actively looking for employment or better employment. That figure reflects only those people currntly collecting unemployment insurance payments. The actual number of people actively looking for work runs 2.5-3 times the figure. It is more realistic that actual unemployment is 12-15 percent of the adult population in this country. I don’t know how to calculate the under-employed.
That factor has stayed pretty consistently within that 2.5-3 times range since Reagan started counting the unemployed that way. You may not remember how unemployment dropped in the early 1980s. The Reagonomics calculation was phased in instead of having unemployment. It went from 15% to 5% in about one year. AND the asshole actually took credit for putting people to work. He just failed to mention they were all part-timers at Burger-Doodle making minimum wage.
Stagflation is where your wages stay constant or go down and the cost of living goes up at some high percentage rate every year for several years.in a row..
Thats what is happeing in the housing market the people being evicted are looking for rental units which causes the price of affordable housing to increase and pushes the people who really need affordable housing off the bottom so you find them living with relatives, living in shelters or on the street even though they have a job. :reaper: :reaper:
I would say that we have had stagflation since 2001. :reaper: :reaper:
I doubt if any recession is short or painless. Too many people are already on the brink. Too many people already feel helpless and hopeless. You can see it in the growth of whacked out right-wing religions that promise everything and deliver only more hopelessness, a deepening resentment of those who have and a growing intolerance of everything and everybody.
Housing costs are still outrageous. Food costs are breaking banks and medical costs are almost prohibitive even with indenturement in a managed healthcare plan. Add to that a non-stop right-wing insistence that all services for the less fortunate (everyone not named Buffet or Gates) be curtailed if not eliminated completely. Make no mistake, the Reublicans have been openly waging class warfare since the 1980 campaign, but the Democrats have been castrated so often my the right no one is willing to stand up to them. And now it is time to pay the piper for their wreckless fiscal mismanagement.
:pirate: 😉 A!I!V! *poof* I have nothing left to listen to except AGAIN
Red :hot: Chili Peppers and Evanescense and The Fray :dancers:
NC Blue, I understand the unemployment insurance factor in figuring unemployment, but they always mention people “actively seeking work.” Is that redundant or is there a second category?
http://www.surveyusa.com/index.php/2008/03/06/electoral-math-as-of-030608-obama-280-mccain-258/
I think the B* admin calls up Goldman Sacks and asks them if anyone there is looking for a job and uses that as an indication of those “actively looking ” for a job….
The electrical engineer who lost his job in 2001 was unemployed for 26 weeks then was actively looking for a job probably on an exponentially decreasing curve for the next year and when he went into the real estate business was no long unemployed even though he was selling only two houses a year. Now he is again looking for work but isn’t counted as such. Its just that when one job opens up and there are 3000 applicants that this problem surfaces but is seldom reported. :reaper: :reaper:
One just has to understand that most Red states have more deer and antelope than people living in them. :tap: :tap:
:rant1: :rant1:
The government in the SBR ( probably conveniently so) has no way of telling that the discouraged worker or as an example the technical worker in between contracts is looking for a job. The contractor has typically not had enough consecutive quarters of work for apply for unemployment insurance. The discouraged worker is most likely one of two or more people in a household where only one in three people is actively working. They look for jobs off and on but to no avail.
There are a whole lot of recent college graduates and middle aged technical people competing for the same work around here. I doubt that either is counted as “actively looking” :reaper: :reaper: because the recent college grad has never had a job to be unemployed from and the worker who has been out of the work force for two or three years has no way of telling the guberrment that he’s back.
Red states do have a higher unemployment rate. Usually, they also have a higher alcoholism, drug abuse, crime, teenaged pregnancy, divorce and high school dropout rates but a lower overall education level. And with all the illegals invited in to make Reaganomics profitable these uneducated, pregnant junkies can’t find a job cleaning toilets ’cause the illegals will work for no benefits and a sub-minimum wage, which is still higher than they can get down in Baja Texas. Hell, their alocoholic dope-dealing boyfriends can’t even get a job mowing lawns at minimum.
Hey NC that sounded more like a description of SanDiego county than Alabama .. be careful how you stereotype these places. :reaper: :reaper:
These observations about how things actually are in the work force and the BS spread about the topic by talkers like Heartman and his cohort Bernie Saunders leads one to think that they get there information by bending over and extracting it from their behinds… They never really go out and look for themselves .. Fing IDIOTS
#53 sounds like the republican dream.
Without any real numbers to go by I would say that probably a third to 40% of the foreclosures in the northwest part of metro Denver are not people loosing their homes because of ballooning loan payments but are properties owned by a worker for maybe 25 years or more that is unemployed or underemployed or perhaps both family members now find themselves unemployed. They propbably have refinanced one to many times or even with a lot of equity in their property find they can’t refinance it again in order to keep up the payments.
A good reason for ANFO for the people .. :tommygun: :tommygun:
:gate: :omg: :jason: :jason: :fist:
How do you think Thom writes all those books? :spank:
Maybe the question should be why Heartman writes all those books.. perhaps for use in the throne room… but.. not for reading :reaper: :reaper:
