Got my replacement laptop power supply last night, so I’m back in business (assuming the little bugger – who is four months old today, by the way – stays away from it, of course). Not much else to say this morning though. Guess I’ll go watch the teevee, and see if anything interesting happened overnight.
Nah, not much happening. Egypt reports one nuclear submarine, one destroyer passing throught the Suez canal yesterday. Today two more destroyers, all headed for the Persian Gulf. Saudi Arabian newspaper reporting that the country is preparing to mitigate the radiation effects from the coming bombing of Iran. (okay, this is coming from Malloy). :tinfoil:

I went to the First Freedom First thing, yesterday. It was an interesting exploration of the issues around the separation, or lack of separation, between church and state.
Maron made a short, but very funny, appearance. It was all interesting and of course a disturbing recitation of all the incursions of church into state and the people who have stood up to it.
The tickets were free and we found a FREE parking space in Manhattan. But we spent $15. on 2 lattes and one chocolate chip cookie.
:joe: :joe: :joe: :joe: :joe: 😮 😮
:omg: :sheep: le up at this hour 😯 😯

I was set to go to that yesterday Sue but sadly was too tired after work and had to skip it. I think the Bacon Brothers were going to perform at the Philly venue. (They’re both Philly boys)
🙁
The Bacon Brothers performed but they didn’t mention where they were actually located. Marc, I think, was in Washington.
So Kev, you gonna be able to make it see Maron down your way?
The show will be available on line sometime this weekend. Maron was in DC.
Bacon Bros. are 1st cousins of singer/activist Holly Near.
Repeat after me. The surge is working. The surge is working. The surge is working. Ah-mmmmmmm….
Dozens killed as Iraq fighting rages
Bacon Bros. dad was the city planner in Philly, designed Love Park, Suburban staion among others.
More on the First Freedom First show…
Got my copy of the $42 million letter-writing campaign telling me I might be qualified for up to $600 in economy stymulus dollars. I didn’t even have to pass Go.
Why did these idiots spend $42 million to tell me the same thing every media outlet in the country already told me? That money could have gone a long way fixing infrastructure or maybe fighting terrorists by putting some traffic cops on the streets. Damned SUVs have been terrorizing me for years and no one in the govment has tried to put a stop to it yet!
art, thanks for the link to Maron v. Seder yesterday. I was actually working :omg: for a change and had not seen it. I try to do my best.
I am always disappointed when some well meaning archivist decides to cut the fits and starts which are often a most enlightening and entertaining part of the show.
For all the Doubting Thomases, who think the current violence in Iraq is not a good thing, here is a virtual bouquet of proof, via Bush Speak, to show you the error of your thoughts:
A spokesman for the Baghdad security plan, Tahsin al-Sheikhly, was kidnapped from his Baghdad home by armed men on Thursday, security officials told AFP.

The Pentagon on Wednesday said an eruption of violence in southern Iraq, where US-backed government forces were battling Shiite militias, was a “by-product of the success of the surge.”

Speaking to the Times of London in an interview published Thursday, President George W. Bush declared that the latest wave of violence in Iraq yielded “a very positive moment in the development of a sovereign nation that is willing to take on elements that believe they are beyond the law.”

Republicans can’t do anything right.
Since 2006, when the insurgency in Afghanistan sharply intensified, the Afghan government has been dependent on American logistics and military support in the war against Al Qaeda and the Taliban.
But to arm the Afghan forces that it hopes will lead this fight, the American military has relied since early last year on a fledgling company led by a 22-year-old man whose vice president was a licensed masseur.
Though Maron v Seder was cut short 17 minutes and the first 8 minutes are barely audible (from Maron) it was one of the most satisfying I’ve heard so far. Great marc rant, Sam comes uncorked at some writer for Time magazine, good pyschological insight and humor.
 vernon
Just caught some revolutionary buzz from the 2nd episode of “John Adams”. :fist: Reminds me of what an informed engaged passionate american public would look like willing to put it all on the line. Of course that was a long, long time ago. 🙁
