Not feeling so hot today. Had something or other hit me like a ton of bricks yesterday. I hope it goes away. Mondays suck, but being sick sucks worse.

Morning all, I hope you took a sick day PJ. You must have a couple racked up by now.
Oblivion the most amazing of games or oblivion the state of non-exestance?
 game :jason: he was supposed to get call of duty 4………
No, didn’t take a sick day. Not sure I’ll make it through the day, though. It aint gettin’ any better. Dogs are going to be disappointed tonight, I think.
I already had Oblivion 4, just hadn’t really played it yet. Takes a bit of getting used to. Awful pretty though.
Christ, I feel like shit.
I’ve got close to 200 hours on it, almost as immersive as Deus Ex. It’s definitely in my personal top ten. Don’t forget the add-ons.
Oh and GO HOME!!! :tap:
Bush booed at baseball game.
PJ, I had that bug two weeks ago. I had a fever for four days straight. The only thing to break it was a tea of boiled fresh ginger. … and a lot of sleep.
Go home and get better
Are you home yet & Granny also ? :tap: … :fist: A!I!V!
Nope, not home. Looks like I’ll last the rest of the day. Don’t know if I’ll make it in tomorrow, though.
as previously noted

YAY! Maron on Conan when I get home tonight! Too bad I can’t stand Opie and Anthony.

The Iranian general who helped broker an end to nearly a week of fighting between Iraqi government forces and Shiite Muslim militiamen in southern Iraq is an unlikely peacemaker.
Brig. Gen. Qassem Suleimani, who helped U.S.-backed Iraqi leaders negotiate a deal with radical Shiite cleric Muqtada al Sadr to stop the fighting in Iraq’s largely Shiite south, is named on U.S. Treasury Department and U.N. Security Council watch lists for alleged involvement in terrorism and the proliferation of nuclear and missile technology.
His role as peacemaker, which McClatchy first reported Sunday, underscores Iran’s entrenched political power and its alliances in Iraq, according to analysts.

Kp, you must have noticed that MM is a little down these days but then again, who isn’t.
Kp…Have you not picked up on Marc’s fatalistic musings? :billcat:
He is just being funny :rofl2:
Is anyone else here planning on a Seattle visit?
I will blog from the show if I’m not getting spit on in the front row.
:knit:
I will give him the book with the picture of Roxie and maybe soften the blow of her news with a cashmere hat and some cookies from the gypsy. 🙁
Here is a comforting thought.
With the Busch administration proposing regulating the mortgage industry at least some Republicans are admitting Reaganomics was an absolute failure for most Americans, especially those not nmaed Hilton or Ellison.
Bushco isn’t regulating the mortgage industry. In some ways he’s deregulating it. I believe the SEC will be subsumed into a larger agency and then eliminated. Much of the proposed oversight comes without any regulatory or enforcement power. It’s a Chaney wet dream.
Bush does prove one old adage: consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds.
Bush is consistent, which has been consistently bad for the rest of us.
sblue,
You know last year when Marc was up there I was trying to get a friend of mine to hook up with you guys and she had Roxie’s cell phone # and everything but she went with a newish beau and did not reach out.
Point being that when she went they could have been in the front row but my pal had been around the comedy scene here a little post Maron era and told newbeau that they really did not want to sit that close. I did not hear that admonition well enough and sat front row center the next night at a benefit here in a theatre, literally at the feet of the comedians. I took a whole ration of shit from two of the first 3 performers. Roy Zimmerman did not zing me. I think he knew better.
You guys had been at the shows just before. I think Roxie said she went to all of them. Maron took out his early breakup rage on the poor woman sitting next to me, projecting from his first wife as much as his soon to be ex. I think he may have remembered me from a previous show so I was spared. Toward the end of his set he mused a bit about what was going on in his life and whether he should get into it. He sort of looked down at me (these guys have x-ray hearing, btw) and I said “why not?” and he lit into some of the most compelling, gut-wrenching, personal, honest and entertaining and funny insights I have ever witnessed. It was unbelievable. When he was done I could tell he was completely wrung out. He was head back to LA for couple counseling the next day.
I am sad to see he is still suffering so much but I too think there is some of the biz in it. I just hope he really isn’t thinking of chucking it and becoming a baker but if he does, I’ll seek out his scones when I am in LA again.
Wish I have been there with you guys, esp. after what happened later last year. Wish I could be there this weekend. I hope you can give a report and pix.
Have a great time!
Word from an old pal (not David)
Hello
All of us at David Leaf Productions are very proud of our new documentary, “The Night James Brown Saved Boston.” The film tells the story of the legendary concert that Mr. Brown gave at the Boston Garden the night after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King. As riots erupted in just about every other big city in America, Brown is credited with helping to keep the streets of Boston quiet during that tragic week.
Our full-length cut recently premiered at the SXSW Film Festival, and the TV version will have its debut as a simulcast on VH1 and VH1 Classic on April 5th, 2008 9 p.m., the 40th anniversary of the events depicted in the film. There’s a link below with more information, and I’ve also attached the first national review, a B+ from “Entertainment Weekly.”
FYI…later this year, the entire film will be part of a very exciting “must have” 3-DVD package from Shout! Factory, but for now, courtesy of James Brown, here is a look at a remarkable time in our political, social, cultural and musical history.
As always, thank you for your friendship and support, and I hope you get a chance to “tune in.”
Best,
David

From the WSJ:
Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson’s as-yet-unnamed new plan for financial regulation likely will spark the kind of overwhelming, take-no-prisoners financial war that passive-aggressive Washington politicians and regulators usually tread delicately around, and it brings to mind the old difference between Washington and Wall Street: on Wall Street, they stab you in the front. So, were Paulson’s plan to be enacted in toto, here are some likely winners and losers

Considering the double speak of the Bush admin where the “Clean Air Initiative” means dirtier air and “No Child left behind ” means all kids are left behind ..I worry what “regulating the banking industry” really means .. I think Bonnie and Clyde where the first RayGun economists when it came to banking :reaper: :reaper: ..
Wow. I wonder if anyone will be up to WATCH MARON ON CONAN……. ? A!I!V!
April foolishness… :dancers:
