So, big day, what with the PA primary and all. I’d love to see this whole thing wrapped up today, but that won’t happen. Obama won’t win today, and however small a margin Clinton wins by (and to make any dent in either the popular vote or the delegate count, she needs to get something like 65% of the vote in the rest of the primary states), she won’t do the whole party unity thing and get behind the party’s nominee. That’s because she’s running for 2012 at this point, and the only way she can run for 2012 is if there’s a Republican in the White House for another four years.
I voted for Clinton here in NY. It was a pretty ambivalent vote, since neither of them had done much to distinguish themselves in my eyes, and they are, really, just about as identical as two different people can get on the issues (those are those things that you never hear about in the campaign coverage). Since then, though, two things have happened. I’ve lost all respect for Clinton, in her attempts to scare the white folks while lauding John McCain as the only viable alternative to her. And Obama has actually attempted to speak to us as if we weren’t a bunch of mouth-breathing idiots. Maybe he hasn’t been perfect in his words, but (surprise, surprise) the people actually seem to get it. Yeah, we are fucking bitter, and we have damn good reason to be.
So, while Obama will never be the perfect progressive candidate that I’d like him to be, I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I guess I’m with Maron on this. And I’m really sick and tired of the same-old, same-old, and that seems to be all that Clinton and McCain have to offer. So I’m ready for something new.
Aint gonna happen today, though.
Good morning all, I must get ready to go and defend democracy as a poll worker. If I knew I’d have to get up this early I might have thought about it a little longer.
Well I’m glad I don’t have days like yesterday too often. I hit a curb a blew out a new tire, then after putting on the spare that turned out to be flat I left my perscription sunglasses onthe roof of the car and drove away. Did I mention they were Raybans and can’t afford to replace them? :rant1: :tap: :spank:  :omg:
That sucks Andy. Better not be hitting any curbs when you get the Smart Car – you’ll total it.
KP, did you see the lights last night?
>>>>> MERRY EARTH DAY, SACRED EARTH. <<<<<
andy aka Aquaman, awwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
I have done similar, with RayB’s Sunglasses… AND WITH READING GLASSES :smack: π
May Your Day “GROW” Better. π
andy- hopefully today is going to be clear with no chance of lightening :paranoid:
I bet there’s a raccoon running around the forest with raybans flipped back on top of his head 8)
 morning!!!!!
shoot andy why did you ruin your car man i was gonna see if you wanted to drive two hours down to baltimore to have lunch this weekend
:40: eh obama has been the best candidate since richardson kucinich and edwards all dropped out………
hillary was never an option in my book i have spent way too many years of my life living under clintons and bushes born in 80 got about 5 months of carter then there was reagan which might as well be bush 1 somewhere in that 8 years reagan lost it and bush was running things im not gonna try and figure out when it happened i just consider it as a 12 year presidency for bush sr then there was bill then there was jr (not that i should really consider this a bush presidency lord knows he isnt running anything)
irregardless π im gonna be 28 in september ive spent all my years living under either a bush or a clinton time for a change dare i say?
Obama Lies… I am not willing to GAMBLE on my fate with one to whom holds hands with the Nuclear Industry … He did deals for the Nuclear Industry.
SINCE MY FIRST VOTE OF 18, I have been solely a DEM supporter, never GAMBLING with My Nation EVER! I thought about how Nader showed TRUTH by his first LOSS… He Did Nothing except vent vitriol.
Are you listening to Bill Press?
ThatΓ’β¬β’s because sheΓ’β¬β’s running for 2012 at this point, and the only way she can run for 2012 is if thereΓ’β¬β’s a Republican in the White House for another four years.
The flaw in this plan, of course, is that if McCain is “elected” (forgive me, Mark Crispin Miller was on Hartmann’s show Monday and my head is still in Conspiracyville) in November, there may not be a presidency for Hillary to run for in four years, due to McCain getting us into multiple wars and someone finally blowing us off the face of the earth.
Hey, good morning everybody!

Obama Is Never An OPTION For Me, EVER, now. I looked at him but saw his LIES and WEAKNESSES.
GORE WON BY THE POPULAR VOTE! — KICK OUT bush & administration NOW and put HIM in, then — forget Obama, then.
Even last time I heard him (I think I am two shows behind)I can tell Marc at least WILL LISTEN and not be like SmearMan, Sam Seder.
Obama Is Never An OPTION For Me, EVER, now. I looked at him but saw his LIES and WEAKNESSES.
GORE WON BY THE POPULAR VOTE — KICK OUT bush & administration NOW and put HIM in, then — forget Obama.
Druid, that doesn’t leave you with much of an option. If not Obama then are you voting for McPain? A vote for Nader is simply a disposable vote – folded, spindled and mutilated.
I will NEVER be a Dem and will probably not vote again unless I get involved ONE YEAR with The Greens, LOCALLY. I was One Dem that believed The DEMS and GREENS need to be talking and I was the kinda mediator amongst the two LOCALLY. I just have faded away THE PAST 6 MONTHS — to focus on something ELSE for “The Cause(s).
But now I am fed up with my DECADES of DEM work, for naught. DEMS, if Obama is chosen, will be off my Dance Card.
I will still “be lethal (the killing or changing of bills or the like :hubba: )” regarding The Wildlife or just focus the “something” to “come out” one year.
For Both Clinton and Obama, Nuclear Donors
By Matthew Mosk
Nuclear energy has been a hot topic as Democrats steam toward the Nevada caucuses, with New York Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton making her opposition to storing nuclear waste at Yucca Mountain a major component of her campaign there.
Clinton has also made the topic a key point of attack against rival Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois, putting out a radio ad that refers to Obama as being “hip deep in financial ties” to Chicago-based energy giant Exelon Corp., a nuclear plant operator that supports the Yucca waste site.
While Obama called the ad misleading during a campaign stop Thursday, his financial ties to Exelon appear to be inescapable. A cursory search of his campaign finance report shows 158 contributions from people who identify themselves as Exelon employees, totaling more than $150,000.
But Obama’s not the only candidate wading deep in a pool of contributions from the nuclear energy industry.
Clinton has received $68,650 in 34 contributions from NRG Energy, and the company’s chief executive, David Crane, is listed as one of her Hillraisers — meaning he has brought more than $100,000 in contributions into the campaign. The Clintons’ ties to the New Jersey-based power giant run deeper than that, though. The company committed $5 million to the Clinton Global Initiative in 2007, according to the web site of the charity run by former president Bill Clinton. The company’s six-year commitment is $175 million.
The commitments are not donations to the former president’s charity, but promises made by the company to the Global Initiative to spend the money on projects that will “help increase the benefits and reduce the burdens of global interdependence, make a world of more partners and fewer enemies, and give more people the tools they need to build a better future.”
PostPosted: Sun Feb 10, 2008 10:27 am Post subject: Obama and Nuclear power Reply with quote
My daughter is an alumni of U of Wisc, and a former director of WisPIRG. Being from Illinois, I have always admired Wisconsin; it is a beautiful, progressive, and green state, a gem in the Midwest. I am writing because, as a Illinois scientist, with a Ph.D. in nuclear physics, I am concerned. I believe in nuclear power, but I do not believe the radioactive waste and pollution can be successfully regulated. In Illinois, the Braidwood nuclear power plants are leaking radioactive water, or tritum. Tritium is now appearing in the ground water and wells in Will County,IL where I use to live. Radioactive water cannot be cleaned up and can spread rapidly because it is water. Exelon who owns these plants did not report the leaks and under Illinois law does not have to.
Contrary to his claim in Iowa, when Barack Obama introduced regulatory legislation, he was essentially bought off by the powerful company, Exelon, that owns the Braidwood reactors. The legislation was allowed to dye quietly. Barack ObamaΓ’β¬β’s campaigns are now bankrolled by this powerful, Illinois nuclear lobby and the nuclear power lobby in Washington. His campaign manager was a consultant for Exelon. They see the energy crisis as a golden opportunity for nuclear power, political power, and for Illinois to take the Presidency. Never underestimate the Chicago political machine. All of this is public, but apparently not well known (Γ’β¬ΕNuclear Leaks and Response Tested Obama in Senate,Γ’β¬Β NYTimes, Feb. 3, 2008). If, as a progressive, you chose to vote for Barack Obama, you are ultimately choosing nuclear power and the special interest groups based in Illinois.
I rest my case! And this only one link — π
Lucky Charms?? Or Alphabet cereal???
No, I didn’t see them. I never hardly go outside anymore. I’m down town anyways. I’ll see if my boss saw them though, she said she saw the Phoenix lights back in ’98 and she lives in north central.
Et tu, Newsday? That sucks, Newsday is one of the better papers around.
BTW Senator Obama is spending 3 to 1 compared to Sen. H Clinton in TV ads … and HE is STILL Losing. :pirate: :yippee: … :pirate: A!I!
It is now my bedtime for a few hours (I hope at least 4) night.
What color? I prefer tie-dye, myself.
yeah he has received over 100grand from exelon employees since 2007 according to open secrets
Newsday is an OK paper. The Post is a joke, with a good Sudoku puzzle. The Post does not report news. It rants about whatever NY Rethugs want.
Newsday was an alternative to the Post. Is it going to be a twin?
The Post was once a liberal pper, then Murdoch bought it.
I, too, voted for Hillary in the NY primary. I think she’s smart and capable. But, when she started to go after Obama in stupid ways, like the bitter nonsense, making the same case that the Rethugs do, I lost my respect for her.
I liked Obama’s speech on race. That made me feel more positively toward him.
At this point, it appears that Obama will be the nominee and, as the alternative is McInsane who will further destroy the economy, the environment, the rule of law and world peace, I will vote for Dem, knowing that no matter how bad he may be, he’ll save us from McInsane.
For the first time since the Spanish influenza of 1918, life expectancy is falling for a significant number of American women.
In nearly 1,000 counties that together are home to about 12 percent of the nation’s women, life expectancy is now shorter than it was in the early 1980s, according to a study published today.
The downward trend is evident in places in the Deep South, Appalachia, the lower Midwest and in one county in Maine. It is not limited to one race or ethnicity but it is more common in rural and low-income areas.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/04/21/AR2008042102406.html?nav=rss_nation
McInsane says that he’ll do nothing to change “the best healthcare system in the world.” I don’t think we can afford to have him keep that promise.
You’re resting your case on a blog post? I hope you know that person, Druid. Your links did not work from last night, btw. I think Hillary is extremely selfish. I don’t think she gives a flying f*** about the people at this point. She only cares about being the first woman president.
ABC reports that one of Rupert Murdoch’s companies is going on trial for charges that it hired hackers to sabotage a rival company:
…On the hot spot is NDS Group, a UK-Israeli firm that makes smartcards for pay-TV systems like DirecTV. The company is a majority-owned subsidiary of Murdoch’s News Corporation. The charges stem from 1997 when NDS is accused of cracking the encryption of rival NagraStar, which makes access cards and systems for EchoStar’s Dish Network and other pay-TV services. Further, it’s alleged NDS then hired hackers to manufacture and distribute counterfeit NagraStar cards to pirates to steal Dish Network’s programming for free.

Maron v. Seder is on right now. Working fairly well but big delay.
If anyone is watching or cares about this, Maron was on an Aussie TV show last week called Good News Week. Here is a link with some extra stuff on the side.
BTW, I posted the link to that NY Times story on Obama’s nuke industry ties quite a while back. Here it is again:
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/02/03/us/politics/03exelon.html?hp
Mark Penn also has ties to Exelon. Obama gets more nuke industry money than any other candidate, so that’s definitely a consideration. Clinton isn’t far behind, though. Also, the legislation that got watered down and then died in the Senate was originally proposed by Obama in the first place, and he actually held up Bush’s nominee to the nuclear commission over it.
Fact is, Republicans were in control of the Senate and of the committee this bill was in. Obama’s compromises let the bill get out of committee (Global Warming denier James Inhofe was holding it up), but it eventually died on the floor.
Whether Obama weakened his own bill because he is in the pocket of the nuke industry, or because he was willing to compromise his position in order to get the bill out of committee (and whether one is better than the other, or both are just as evil; one of the things I don’t care for with Obama is his seeming willingness to compromise with Republicans, but you can say the same of Clinton, too), is up for everyone to decide for themselves.
The bill eventually died (no doubt the stronger bill, had it even escaped the committee, would have faced the same fate), though the nuke industry ‘promised’ to do ‘voluntary’ reporting. Is that better than nothing? I guess everyone can decide that for themselves, too. From the Times’ article:
*pfft
Sounds like Maron is actually thing of doing some more AAR work :omg:
Is Maron v Seder early? I thought it started at 8 my time. That would be in 15 minutes.
It’s not almost over is it??
*pfft
Sorry, KP, I could not get the tubes clear to post earlier but I did put it up the other day. Just while Maron is in Oz. Hopefully another quick VOD turnaround with the delay fixed. Watch the TV show if you get a chance.
Security just came to tell Marc to be quiet.
Marc’s getting in trouble for yelling in the hotel room  :rofl2: :rant1:
Didn’t get to watch it. Maybe they want to give him a daily show. Be funny if they offered him Randi’s time slot. That’d make the Seder v. Maron show interesting.
Ha. That’s funny. Good thing I didn’t have it on. I can’t have Marc yelling at work.
:rofl2: :rofl2: The end of the show was hilarious! Security knocks on Marc’s door and tells him to keep it down!
Sounds like sub spots but at least he is bending and AAR must be reacting a little bit to what they have been hearing.
Imagine that. Marc is too noisy for Australia. :rofl2:
mornin!
Sam/Maron show a confused glop with delays, insecurity puddles on the floor, and instant obediance to authority.
depressing is what it was.

Food Rationing Confronts Breadbasket of the World (US)
Many parts of America considered the breadbasket of the world, are now confronting a once unthinkable phenomenon: food rationing.
Major retailers in New York, in areas of New England, and on the West Coast are limiting purchases of flour, rice, and cooking oil as demand outstrips supply. There are also anecdotal reports that some consumers are hoarding grain stocks.

I am sorry I have used many here as my teachers to get me back in step — but I never was “in-step” I now realize 8) . this blog helped to get me a bit more in touch again, to society – i.e. more reachable. π Now, is there enough Time and do I even care, seeing how most masses are acting “status quo”. I should focus more on my “work”. But as I said — If Not On MS Site — Where? I still think we are a part of a certain important percentage of a certain “CREATIVE” part of the whole pye, at least this wytch thinks so. The “y” thing especially came to be in early 80’s. Here, errors I see me doing through me just being too much in a hurry to “get it done”. … :fist: A!I! — things have changed now one has “to be in step, with the masses. (NOT)
ALSO, I haven’t enough time (mostly due to this stupid computer say’n’ NO…) to “Git it Dun”, so I have cut out Most Places and almost this one … But this was my first – except one time on the Guardian blog, when I saw a horrid rethug American? say horrid things to the Brits, misrepresenting the FACTS and to show that some Americans, save for evil bush & evil adm, CARE. That was a few years before me blogging here. Then NOTHING just a “lurker” until MARC MARON  was leaving and PJ made a HOME here.
As I said The First True and Constant Blog was MSists. And The First is Never Forgotten.
Now I will post to get even a better view of my errors. :pirate: A!I!
AND in the rain and cold I hear the metal grocery cart … I run to the window to see if I can see if the person is still around. BRB.
Thanks everybody. Sean are you really in Baltimore this weekend ’cause I am off Sunday.
Taking a little break for now, of course there was only one other person working the polls with me this morning and no one was there to unlock the place so we got a late start. I haven’t heard any preliminary results so I don’t know who is ahead, Clinton oor Obama.
Oh and I think it’s Melina’s birthday tomorrow.

I was wrong. The Maron v. Seder audio download for today is here
I knew you would pick it up, pj. I think that was the one with that kid Craig Hundley who had a jazz group that Carson used to like to have on the Tonight Show.
Kp, his role in Gimme Shelter was as himself helping set up the Altamont concert. Kept referring to a Mr. Jagger.
Belli on screen
re Melvin B. I knew he was a BIG TIME Lawyer in My City. I know of The Angel in S.T. …w/fists to the center. I do not remember Gimme Shelter, although I saw a few times and I know I saw him — I remember saying oh that is M.B. (a younger version I think, but I don’t hardly remember the film). I liked this one, too.
MELVIN CAESAR BELLI [#111309], 42, of Mexicali, Mexico, was suspended for four years, stayed, placed on four years of probation with an actual one-year suspension and until he makes restitution and pays litigation costs, and was ordered to take the MPRE and comply with rule 955. If the actual suspension exceeds two years, he must prove his rehabilitation. The order took effect Aug. 20, 1999.
Belli stipulated that he misappropriated and mishandled funds entrusted to him on behalf of his sister, Melia, and that by making unauthorized distributions to himself, he breached his fiduciary duty to his sister. The misappropriation amounted to moral turpitude.
