So, yesterday’s class was pretty good, and I think this will turn out to be worthwhile for me. Especially now that I know I don’t have to leave quite so early to get there. Didn’t really get a chance to peruse the whole election thing, except to see that, now that it looks like Obama can get to 2,025 delegates, the other campaign has decided that 2,209 is the real number (and they’re willing to stage a fight in August to try and pull their ‘nuclear’ option). Of course, the point now for them is to make sure McCain gets elected, so expect to see things get even more Rovian from them from here on out. They need to walk a bit if a fine line, I’d think, to torpedo the Obama candidacy while not shouldering the blame for a McCain presidency (go for the old, ‘Obama ran a terrible campaign’ chestnut).
Personally, I think it’s a little late for that. Maybe Clinton should just be the ‘Connecticut for Libermann’ Party candidate for President. But, hey, who knows? Maybe she’ll be a good soldier, and they can both spend the next month or two using the free primary media coverage showing the world what an incredibly horrible little person John McCain is. That would be the mature thing to do, both for Clinton and her supporters (many of whom seem to be having what Frank Zappa called a ‘petulant frenzy’).
So, we’ll see what my Senator does from here on out. She’s got that job for life unless she turns off every Democrat in the state, and she has a good chance to become an upper mucky-muck in the Senate – maybe even Majority leader. Plus I hear if she acts like a grown up, the Obama campaign will pay off her campaign debt (and since she’s loaned her campaign a lot of her and Bill’s money, that has to look like a pretty good deal).
Anyway, the Chat Room is open for Maron on AAR this afternoon. I won’t be around, but that’s not much of a loss.
Have a good one.

I stop contributing to the Obama campaign the minute they agree to pick up Hillary’s tab. If she wants to stay on the trail and stroke her delusional ego, she can pay for it herself.
:fu:
I guess the campaign manager for Edwards has endorsed Obama. No big deal there.
Some of the talking heads, last night, seemed to think that Hillary was quite aware that she could not win and that she is finding a way to “climb down” honorably.
Kos says that she will win handily in Kentucky? (I am probably wrong about which state) and that if she withdraws before that it will look bad for Obama, so he actually wants her t stay in a bit longer.
Yesterday, other than asserting that she was in it to win, she did not say bad things about Obama and managed not to say that economic advice from economists was an elitist plot.
Jon Stewart had McInsane on, and Stewart managed not to fawn all over him, but McInsane did refer to the audience as “my friends.” What a jerk.
Gotta work.
Have a good day, all.
Sean, what are diesel prices like around the country. In NYC and on Long Island they are nearing $5. a gallon?
Ed Schultz debated Michale Medved last night here in Minneapolis. I think the audience was split 60/40 in tilt of Republicans. The Reuplicans in the crowd were a bunch of “shush”ers and “mumble..mumble” whenever the Dems or Ed got excited. I don’t think the Republicans were used to getting kicked around. Overall, Ed more than held his own and got several jabs in on Medved, who everyone said would kick his ass. When Medved said that Democrats had a different temperament and were angrier than Republicans, Ed replied with “Yeah. just like your boy McCain”. Medved has got nothing and everything he said revolved around “individual freedom”.
The only mistake Ed made was when he said that no Democrats want Rush Limbaugh kicked off the air. Lot of shushing on that one.
Poor Fred is having a tough morning  :fustrate:
However, we have to be on the lookout for Black Bears here in Syracuse :omg: 😮
The Bear was spotted on the other side of town from where we live — in fact, the zoo is on that side of town, so I wonder if he/she escaped from there. Oh, well. Better make sure the doggies don’t get near any bears today
Have to get Fritz a prong training collar today. He was very very naughty at first during his first class and very very good toward the end :pup: However, he was very very naughty again yesterday when we tried to attach the leash to his collar. 🙄
This is not fun yet. :tap:
:bee: :bee: :bee: :bee: :bee: :bee: :bee: :bee: :bee:
Obama giving Hillary $$$???? 😮 :jason: Is this a rumor started by the Limbaugh pig?
RG, I vaguely remember somebody mentioning that on KO’s show last night as a possibility. I want to say Chuck Todd, but it might have been someone else.
Kevin — :omg: :omg: :omg: :omg: :omg: :omg:
I just don’t know what to think if that turns out to be true.
What the :fu: !!!! 😮 :slap: :smack:
Meanwhile, Lions & Tigers & BEARS !! Oh, my!! :omg:
They have not yet found the Big Fellow. Gotta go take The Boys to the park now — we’ll have to watch out for bears now — sheesh — one more stinking thing to have to worry about! 🙄
Meanwhile, the 10 day long NY State Marches for peace in conjunction with IVAW started today. It was actually mentioned on the lo-cal news this morning 😮 Wonder how much coverage it will get. I expect the turnout over the weekend at the various locations should be pretty impressive if everyone who came to Syracuse last Sept 29th shows up! :nixon:
We’ll be participating over the weekend and will be at the final rally at Fort Drum on the 17th. Gotta keep the energy going. :jesus:
:fist: A!I!V! :fist:
I forget where I saw that Obama could work out a deal to help pay off Clinton’s campaign debt, but I’ll have to find it again. Keep in mind that she has a lot of supporters (very close to the same number as Obama has; it’s not like she’s Mike Gravel), and a huge supporter mailing list and campaign machine. A few million to get all that on his side could be a bargain. Of course, that’s predicated on her and Bill rehabilitating their reputations with those they’ve alienated over the past few months. But memories are short, and the main thing is to keep McCain the hell away from the White House.
Frankly, I think had she run a smarter campaign, things could be a lot different right now.
Wow, I aint never seen a bear with six feet before.
Oh, gee. Good thing they told me that. I was gonna go out and try and back it into a corner and kick its ass.
We have Bears wondering into suburban areas all the time .. they emerge from hibernation and the garbage of the typical home owner is so much preferred to the wind berries and stuff you would think they would eat .
The mountain lions are even more fun to deal with .. many a poodle or kitty has become lunch . :reaper: :reaper:

If it has a bill and webbed feet like a duck, lays eggs like a bird or a reptile but also produces milk and has a coat of fur like a mammal, what could the genetics of the duck-billed platypus possibly be like? Well, just as peculiar: an amalgam of genes reflecting significant branching and transitions in evolution.
An international scientific team, which announced the first decoding of the platypus genome on Wednesday,

The U.S. Office of Special Counsel Scott Bloch — whose home and office were recently raided by the FBI –last year shut down a previously undisclosed investigation into the federal prosecution of former Alabama Gov. Don Siegelman, according to an internal memo made public Wednesday.
The investigation was being conducted by a task force formed at the agency a year ago to pursue high-profile political investigations in Washington, most notably whether the White House played politics in firing U.S. attorneys. It began gathering information on the Siegelman case in September and was planning to request documents from the Justice Department in October before Special Counsel Scott Bloch ordered the case closed, according to the Jan. 18 draft memo, made public by the Project on Government Oversight, a watchdog group.

Fred — re #26. What’s a Wind Berry? Is that something that only grows in Colorado? ❓ Does it have anything to do with bears pooping in the woods?
Didn’t see any six-footed bears in the park, but plenty of other doggies. :pup: :pup: :pup: :pup: There was plenty of butt sniffing & neck biting going on.
Fritz was convinced to practice heel, sit & down today with the help of the shiny new prong collar. I had to catch him to get the collar on, though. :slap: He did not like that. Neither did I. 🙁 But we need to get the little monster civilized somehow because he’s going to be a pretty hefty chunk of :pup:
eya RAGING Granny!
dogs are more into body language than verbal i’ve found.
make sure they have clear visual signals, that’s how they communicate with each other.
 im seeing about 4.25 most places of course unleaded which all my life till about 6 or 7 months ago costed oh 20 cents more than diesel is for some odd reason 50 cents cheaper than diesel very confusing how suddenly unleaded is cheaper than diesel best i can figure unleaded should cost 4.10 or so and diesel should be 3.90 but instead of letting gas prices go over 4$ they are forcing the truck drivers to subsidize the general public but what the fuck do i know
Sean are you reimbursed for your fuel, or compensated by being able to charge more to haul cargo?
i dont pay for fuel i have a company card for that im sure they charge more
Rudy Ghouliani has surfaced. He has been hired to advise a candidate for mayor of Kiev who wants to know how to combat corruption. Rudy announced all this in Times Square to showcase how a good leader (himself, of course) makes all the difference. Of course Rudy credits himself with cleaning up Times Square.
I guess Rudy will be advising this guy about the best ways to provide chauffeur service to your mistress n the City’s dime.

Fred, about your 28. That’s coyotes eating the pets. One of the strangest things I ever saw was a coyote in broad daylight getting faced down by three horses.
We have lots of coyotes around here. Generally no bears, though. They’re up in the Adirondacks or down in the Catskills. Also in the Allegheny area. If there’s a black bear running around here, he’s definitely a long way from home (I also doubt he’s a a six foot bear; that’s about the top end for black bears, but I reckon one would look a lot bigger if he was wandering around in your back yard).
The Smokeys have bears that go up to 300 pounds, or used to. Last one I met face to face didn’t really care. He headed south for the winter.
The male black bears are typically around 250 pounds, though they can get up to 600 pounds or more. Not something you’d want pissed at you, but nothing like the brown (aka grizzly) bears, which can get up near 1,000 pounds, or polar bears, which can get up around 1,500.
queen charlotte had great black bears.
guy had three of em that used to visit his house.
F&G shot em all. he ended up barbequed in his car on a log road,
suicide what ‘they’ said. funny thing was all the great art he had in his car was’nt in there.
they hear you or smell you and they’re gone.
cept during the salmon runs. then you don’t go into the bush without a fairly large caliber weapon.
just in case. Odie used to tree em for fun. was waiting for him to chase one thru camp.
they REALLY don’t like those high pitched terrier barks.

The LAPD, the FBI, & the CIA are all trying to prove that they are the best at apprehending criminals in California. So the LA mayor decides to give them a test. He releases a rabbit into a forest and each of them has to catch it.
The CIA goes in. They place animal informants throughout the forest. They question all plant and mineral witnesses. After three months of extensive investigations they conclude that rabbits do not exist.
The FBI goes in. After two weeks with no leads they burn the forest, killing everything in it, including the rabbit and they make no apologies. The rabbit had it coming.
The LAPD goes in. They come out two hours later with a badly beaten bear. The bear is yelling: “Okay, okay, I’m a rabbit, I’m a rabbit.”
