Forgot to buy a lottery ticket yesterday. I either saved a buck, or lost $166 million. Either way, another day of work awaits. Most of this one will consist of meetings. These people love their freakin’ meetings.

I’m being told that next Wednesday’s Tampa Obama appearance is on. I’m also being told that there isn’t any information as to when and where, just that it’s on. So I guess I should request that day off just to be safe.
Jeez, it’s not as if they needed to wait to see if he was gonna win WV or anything. Damn cat-herding Dems.
Saw the Standuppity tour (Kindler,Mirman,Maron) yesterday at the Turf Club. All three were excellent and as per standard practice each started out slow but warmed up as they figured out what the collective rabble thought was funny.
Maron really does compartmentalize his humor. As I figured out from what everyone else has mentioned before, his stage act is completely different than what he does on the radio. The only similarity is in the rapid rhetorical flourishes he fills out his rants with. Paraphrasing he said that his modus operandi is “need posing as a comedy show”. One woman in the audience got huffy a couple of times, one time saying b.s. and the other time affirming loudly when Marc referred to himself as a Koch (not the Ed variety). Marc laughed it off. At the end he said he probably lost another “share of his base audience”. Kindler and Mirman arguably talked more about politics than Maron did. I still think that Maron is the Pied Piper in comedy and he always associates with talented cohorts and writers.
Kindler on writing a book on Hitler’s last days: “I was just in Hitler’s bunker, and I’m afraid to say the guy might be losing it”. On Hillary: “Clinton went on the Leno show to generate some laughs. It didn’t work, Leno is still not funny”. He also used the word “bete noir” in a sentence and thanked Marc for letting him borrow it.
Mirman on the danger of ambiguous protest signs “I saw one that said ‘America is Better than Abortion’, It almost sounded like ‘America” and ‘abortion’ were nearly equally good but America won out on bonus deals such as freedom”. On Detroit: “The place is so poor that bears are moving into the abandoned housing”
Maron on pollution “Air is something you shouldn’t be able to taste” and racism “When San Diego catches on fire, they will scoop up water from New Orleans, with the black people still floating on the surface” That last one got some tsk-tsk’s from the audience.
Not a huge crowd, but the Turf Club is great because the wait staff doesn’t bother nagging everyone on drinks. Afterward, I thanked Marc for a great show, and he responded “Hope I didn’t scare you too much”, likely thinking I was a troubled loner (to borrow a Letterman line). I didn’t say anything back and I didn’t hang around to buy any swag, but Maron is mining some impressive George Carlin-like territory, bluntly talking about the stuff that you would hate the Patriot Act to be able to find out about you. As he said about the rationalization for guvmint spying: “What are you afraid of? You shouldn’t if you have nothing to hide. True, but there are plenty of things that I am ashamed of”.
Eugene Mirman also showed one of his YouTube videos that he did for 23/6 where he embarrasses presidential candidates and their followers on the campaign trail. I had seen it before and I think it was this one:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/04/17/eugene-mirman-reports-fro_n_97329.html
When Maron came on he said he couldn’t compete with Mirman’s powerpoint slide show and did a passable impression of Kindler’s stage gestures.
Again a great show, which reminds me …. I can’t figure out who would pay $1000 for scalped Robin Williams tickets in Minneapolis
http://www.twincities.com/ci_9176211?nclick_check=1
Williams is funny but that is going overboard. I heard that he wouldn’t honor scalped tickets at the door.
Serves those guys right but I wonder when they go after the real ticket scalpers that they call “TicketMaster”.
Ooooo, it’s morning, AGAIN. I could easily find an excuse to stay home today, but I know I need to go to work. I should not complain, includng today I ave 12 more working days before summer vacation. There are reasons to become a teacher.
Childers, in Mississippi, won by 8 points, making this the third seat, in a heavily Republican district, that has gone Democrat in a special election. The Rethugs spent 1.3 million here and the new 527, Freedom’s Watch, spent more. They tried to tie Childers to Wright, Obama and Pelosi. Chaney and Huckabee campaigned for him and he lost anyway, by 8 points. Even better, they spent more of their money.
It’s hard for my to believe, but is it possible that some people are actually disgusted enough with what Republican rule has produced, not to be swayed by the Rethug propaganda?
Here’s Lincolm Karim’s update on the dead baby hawks, and some nice pictures, as well.

Top o’ the mornin’, Dru! :pent: :nixon:
No :reaper: :slap: Miracle Center for me today :slap: :reaper: , although yesterday was kind of interesting.
I firmly believe that the pediatric ICU sink by the nurses station is haunted. I was standing at the station screening a chart & heard what sounded like hand drumming. Nice Doumbek rhythm & I felt like dancing — it was really quite a happy rhythm. I thought someone was playing a CD or something and then realized it was the sink — someone had just used it. Now, I’ve been in this ICU many times in the past few years and I know this particular sink is noisy, but all I ever heard from it before was ordinary blub-blub-blub sounds when it was doing its thing. Yesterday was way different and it really sounded like a regular and very pleasant drumming rhythm and it did go on and on and on — almost as though something were serenading the poor sick & broken kids in that ICU. It was VERY interesting. 😮 :omg: But, the staff just said they have called in the physical plant people many times to fix the sink & it never stays fixed.
Oh, well. Let’s see if my new gravatar shows up! Thanks PJ!
:sammy:
I finally get why my parents moved us when I was 12 for educational reasons. I never thought I would see a day when the coal loving Black guy would win VA and get killed in WVa. You think ignorance and racism had anything to do with it?
Well, at least WVa now has a place on the map and new found recognition as it steps into the realm of recognized big time ‘swing’ states until it reverts to being America’s last colony later today.
Guess I will have to be very careful should I ever move back there.

Why are you and other Obama cohorts making his race the issue? Perhaps the issue for a few, but not for the ones like me.
What does Friends of the Earth, the Union of Concerned Scientists, David Suzuki, and Green Peace have in common?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=68FLcvdIgsw … :fist: A!I!
I grew up in West Virginia (family goes back there over 200 years) and VA and still have family there and actually know what I am talking about. I say, 38%!? I’d bet 1/2 of that is people who would never vote for a ‘magic Negro’. Race is even an issue in CA, just ask Tom Bradley. It is just a shame it was the Clintonista that introduced it to this race, no matter how ‘innocent’ they act.
Then again, I am probably wrong. Bring on an expert.
Race Cards and Speech Codes
I do not mean to say that all Clinton supporters are racists. Probably the ones who vote for her against O”Bama for racial reasons will get their sexism and misogyny on and vote against her for any white dude she runs against in the future.
I give up. What?
Obama’s camp has been playing the sexism card for months 🙄 …
…again no one is making a statement about how people from the Obama Camp *dog’d Sen. H. Clinton at each of her appearances … touting a range of negative statements, loudly, at Sen H Clinton.
Or what is in the message of Suzuki … :reaper: :knit: A!I!
Clinton, H has had a sexism problem just about 15 years longer than the O’Bama for President camp came along. I believe that I was a long time Hill’ry defender here while some cried out ‘DLC’, etc. Seems that I even got the DLC tag from it.
You might want to consider before you make that kind of accusation. You constantly bring up accusations of evil done in the name of O’Bama but little to no substantiation.
Clinton Campaign Brought Sexism Out of Hiding
Druid, here’s Lincoln’s email: lincoln_karim@msn.com
If you go to the blog, along the top it says contact, if you click on it it will also bring you to his email.
I brought forth enough to raise a question or to regarding his “truths” … and no one wanted to know more … and the article I have spoken of one day I MAY FIND & I MY GIVE A DAMN to put out to a public that DOES NOT WANT LINKS OR TRUTHS.
Therefore, why should I stop with my different works to research further for people here and at one time there, that have “forced chosen one” and would say negative things to me … and where are THE FACTS EVER by Lucille and a few others …? ALSO much what I ALSO heard was on AAR & NovaM?, until … Did you even “hear” Suzuki? :fist: A!I!
Speaking of FOE. They must be shills for the nuke industry. Oh, wait.
Thx Sue P, I had gone on the previous link under contact and all I could get were children pictures and other pixs…. before there was an address and now thank you Sue.
I just called FOE. Enough. Enough Confusion…. I NO LONGER VOTE or change folks “over” except, they will see I no longer vote… I just saw a voting thing I think June 6 or whenever since I will not ever vote a DEM & prob even a GRN Again …. hmmm. Adieu …
40 years beat’n’ the streets & phones for same ol’ same ol’ is ENOUGH!
I may do final as a write in for Gore.
Watch Obama well. He is a liar.
NARAL just changed over now backing Obama … well back to “fantasy” … back to my job Tea Cheers
Tea Cheers Fred … I miss your words 😉
:tommygun: :pirate: I have to go start the fire (I have a deadly Chill sniff)
RG,
Worth the wait!
Yeah, and both Obama and Clinton voted in favor of liquid coal, too. They’re both “Supportive if carbon pollution reduced by 20%.”
That comes from the League of Conservation Voters (which has a nice voter guide on environmental issues).
Just been wanting to check in to support one factoid posted by a certain witch the other day. There is some guy who helped found the Green party who has come out in support of nuclear energy as a last resort only because the C02 emissions are building up to such a dangerous level…., sorry, I don’t remember his name and haven’t taken the time to find anything but “I saw it on tv”- therefore must be true 😮
I saw that Patrick Moore is in favor of nuclear power, and has become a critic of the environmental movement. He was a co-founder of Greenpeace. I haven’t been able to find anything about the Green Party being in favor of nuclear power, though I’m sure there might be individuals who think it’s a viable alternative. But, maybe I just can’t find it out there.
Here’s a recent Newsweek interview with Patrick Moore, for anyone who cares.
yeah, Green Peace, not Green party.
The Interior Department declared the polar bear a threatened species Wednesday, saying it must be protected because of the decline in Arctic sea ice from global warming.
Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne cited dramatic declines in sea ice over the last three decades and projections of continued losses. These declines, he told a news conference, mean the polar bear is a species likely to be in danger of extinction in the near future.
Kempthorne also said, though, that it would be “inappropriate” to use the protection of the bear to reduce greenhouse gases, or to broadly address climate change.
http://www.rawstory.com/news/mochila/Polar_bears_to_be_protected_species_05142008.html
Interestingly enough, Greenpeace says Moore is not a co-founder.
I heard Sen Hill was making the change to supporting LiquidCoal (mostly since she was losing votes).
One cannot compare to Obama’s many year whoredom to the Nuclear Lobbyists compared to recent Clinton conversion.
Well, I heard
Hillary Clinton Loves Her Some Coal. Maybe opiniony but lots of actual and interesting sourcing.
I tried to come up with her nuclear policy (yes, I actually tried) but everything that comes up Googley has something to do with the obliteration of Iran.
Some say
Edwards to endorse O”Bama soon
Sue P  regarding Polar Bears and more … i should have refreshed …
I heard, I saw: Edwards has endorsed and will be standing with Obama on stage soon 🙄
I do not like the “hardball” anti-woman strategy
I know many will not see it that way (anti-woman), but I see it ON MANY ISSUES – but most here believes in Obama…
Most people see it that way. Not a lot of love for Tweety that I see.
Lucky Man
edwards endorsing obama right this second
Evening all. Association meeting tonight at my house, scrambled to clean up a little and put out the “fixin’s”. Computer buisiness going guns, making some dough but I’m exhausted.
:nana: 😛 😳
Clinton and Obama voted for liquid coal back in May of 2007. It wasn’t a recent conversion. Clinton and Obama have been taking money from the nuclear industry for a long time.
In my case, it’s not a matter of ‘believeing in Obama,’ but that I’m not wearing blinders.
In what sounds like a really low-budget horror film, voracious swarming ants that apparently arrived in Texas aboard a cargo ship are invading homes and yards across the Houston area, shorting out electrical boxes and messing up computers.

…wasting time…since I admit DIE (almost) and that MOST ALL Lie or think it is f.i.n.e. to lie …86% to 14% … but I will not go quietly, I will just limit my multi-tasking mind on less issues……….
and NOT EVER for this issue miss my work-out period again…
How could one support one that fought so badly with bully status…? Not I.
Most here believes in Obama Mind…
so I no longer bother … :barf:
It is finally going to be about me … and not waste time with whores like Obama and what people unfairly called Sen Clinton … I called certain and emailed the different numbers of my senators …
I hate ANOTHER evil media political “tactic” yet again 🙄
boring…
There is a small article in this months Mother Jones about Patrick Moore. As I see it, when people are freezing their butts off or stewing in their own sweat, as the case may be, they won’t care about the environmental price of nuclear. People will cut down all the trees in America to keep warm if they have to. They really will.
But calling Obama a whore is the same as calling Clinton a whore. Why are you calling Clinton a whore?
It was an insert article withing this article. I don’t think it’s in the online version. It’s in my magazine version.
Guess it isn’t the same to call a man a whore. Unless it is Feinstein even tho’ DINO is totally adequate verbiage.
Here it is. Spinning the Atom
What’s interesting is the way these things tend to evolve. Some guy who calls himself a co-founder of Greenpeace says he is for nuclear power. This morphs itself until people are sending e-mails saying that the US Green Party endorses nuclear power. Then it’s out there, and people hate the Green Paty for something that isn’t true.
The story takes on a life of its own, and pretty soon it has nothing to do with truth, and everything to do with ‘truthiness.’
I’m sure this is where many people get the ‘information’ that forms their opinion on Clinton or Obama or whomever. Then, no amount of truth can change their opinion, because they already have the truthiness, and nothin else matters.
Yeah, it’s that grapevine effect. :smack:
By the way, if you’re interested in looking at the legislation that people have introduced, you might want to check this out. You can search by legislator. It’s a good way to see the types of things they tried to pass, and is a nice complement to looking up their voting records.
Yeah, that and people not bothering to check what other people are sending them, or of their inability (or unwillingness) to understand what they’re reading or where it comes from.
I’m always amazed at how many people mis hear directions in a class room setting. :ear:
I’m sure everyone’s done that experiment, where people whisper a story from one person to the next, and after ten or twenty people, the final story no longer resembles the original.
When you factor in the built-in agendas and biases of the people involved (where, instead of just misinterpreting something, they deliberately stress certain things and omit others), plus the willingness of people to believe what they want to believe, and it’s easy to see how shit like Iraq attacked the US, or Saddam had WMDs or Obama went to a Madrasah and wouldn’t swear on a bible becomes accepted ‘fact.’
KO if you missed it
I just made it make from the computer not going down but freezing then signing off (sbcglobal.net)
DO NOT EVER TALK OF ME UNLESS I ANSWER. If I DO NOT ANSWER then know either I have not seen yet
OR MY COMPUTER IS FREEZING OR SAYING NO
I always allow time to answer … to have such horrid unjust things said SOLELY on YOUR OPINION ROOTED…distorted by YOUR prejudice is …….
NOW I WILL GO BACK TO RE-READ and ANSWER ….
I am taking off NARAL from site.
Because everyone seems to give up their word so easily.
I am not so angry about different opinions but this vitriol, calling names and laughing at and worse for ones’ seeing the FUTURE different. We are going backwards…not forwards and NOT QUICK ENOUGH ……. I will not proselytize a mindset, but work on NATIONAL WAYS again.
I never would have kept quiet AFTER I CORRECT THE LIES NOW SAID ABOUT ME … More Bloody time wasted
To me you should put in my Teachers and those that have been saying what IS NOW HERE… since they got it right…. F…
