Something odd happened to me last night. Seeing as it was Friday, on the way back from the park with the boys, I stopped off at the good old Delta Sonic to pick up a couple six packs of Middle Ages IPA. So, I go up to the cashier (who’s a cute kid, probably 22 years old, give or take), and she says to me, “is that all, honey?” So, I say yeah, and she says “that’s $9.23,” and I hand her my credit card thinking “nine bucks for two six packs that cost $7.99 each?” So she does the whole credit card thing and hands me that part you gotta sign, and says, “I just need you to sign this one, sweetie.”
Honey? Sweetie? What is this, Mel’s Diner? But this cute young girl sure don’t look like Flo.
I was trying to figure out if this was some experiment to see if a female calling a male ‘sweetie’ would be offensive in light of the whole Obama thing (didn’t offend me one bit, BTW), or if maybe that’s just how the kids talk to the old folks these days.
Either way, if she wants to charge me half price for beer, she can call me honey, sweetie, asshole, douchebag, or whatever else she wants.
It’s Saturday and sunny. Looks like it’s going to be a nice day.
Lincoln Karim is very sad about the death of the three baby hawks and instead of pictures of them, he has left pictures of trees and a short essay accompanying them.
I know Druid will appreciate it.

I’ll probably go on Tuesday down here.
Thanx Vernon
I read the review, and hoped by my posts today and earlier to find out the running time, but no luck so far. :fire: :yippee: :yippee: :yippee:
WHT should weigh in at some point.
Another factor is the venue. I remember someone who saw Maron in Oz saying that he just hung out and kept going as the club let him even after closing the bar.

Every woman on this blog is probably going to flame me for saying this, but there’s a double standard. My supervisor, who is I think is only a couple of years younger than me, calls everybody sweetie and babe all the time. It’s more annoying than anything else, to be honest.
Whereas if a male supervisor referred to female subordinates as sweetie or babe, most of the women would be knocking each other over to see who could get to HR first.

Your tax dollars at work. No Cashier Left Behind.
Thank you, President Bush.
:rofl2:
I find it strange when either men or women call me sweetie or honey. Sometimes it feels patronizing and sometimes it feels “homey”. I often wonder whether it’s my mood or if I’m sensing where it’s coming from.
In any case, i got a free health screening at the Farmers Market today. A big red Walgreens RV was there. I came out good in all categories, cholesterol, blood glucose, blood pressure, body mass index, bone density and waist size. I feel pretty good about that since I don’t have any health insurance. I had to brag because my mom isn’t home to brag to right now. :sammy:
