Good news about Maron being on AAR next week. Will he be on Monday? Maybe I can actually listen live. I’ll get the chat room ready to go, in case anybody wants to live chat during the show (although, based on recent activity, there might not be many people out there).
In other good news, DirecTV 11 should be parked more or less in its final orbit some time today. Another 3 weeks to a month of testing and tweaking, and I’ll hopefully have local HD channels, and some more national HD channels (at least anther HBO, and I think a few more are set to come on board). Got to watch Apollo 13 on HD Net Movies last night, and it was great (it was the most trouble Bill Paxton had, until he got three wives on Big Love). There’s a scene at the beginning where they’re watching Neil Armstrong step out onto the moon. If you weren’t here on Earth when that happened, you can’t truly comprehend what that was like to watch it right there on the teevee. Ah, the good old US of A really used to be something, back in the day.
Been doing a lot of computing at work. Makes the day go fast, but I haven’t had a chance to keep up on all the goings-on that are going on. Back to the shit hole today, though, so maybe I’ll be able to keep you guys on your toes.
Later.
Maron is going to be on AAR again next week? When will they give him a regular show?
Better yet, give him Hartmann’s show. He keeps pushing Hillary as Obama’s VP, which would not only NOT unite the ticket, but would be like appointing Lady Macbeth as Hamlet’s assistant. Only if Obama is OK with sleeping with one eye open for the next four years.
Thom is entitled to his opinion, and I guess since he has a show on the radio he’s entitled to force it on his listeners, but that doesn’t mean I have to continue being one of his listeners. Bernie Sanders is on for the first hour, and then I’ll probably put some music on. The new Was (Not Was), maybe!
I think Maron is best in the AM, and since they have NO morning show on AAR, I think he should go back to the 6-9 Eastern slot. If he doesn’t mind working 3-6 out in LA, that is. Put Sam on in the ‘Randi’ slot, or put him on in the Chipmunk’s slot 9 – noon where he used to be. Then Maddow can go in Randi’s old slot. Oh well, time to get ready to get going.
2 more 3 day weeks and then it’s summer vacation.
Maron next week!
It would be awesome to have Maron AND Seder. But if experience is any guide, AAR is planning to have Roseanne Barr. The one thing they can be counted on is to discount their audience. I’m trying to be optimistic, but AAR does not make that easy.
I’ve convinced hubby to stay in the city this weekend because, usually, this is a weekend when a lot of people leave the city. That means less crowded store and museums and restaurants. I am hoping that the high gas prices will not be a deterrent to the travelers.
Vernon pointed me to The Pretenders link and I ended up surfing pretenders videos for an hour. grrrr. :ear: Those cryptic link titles are dangerous.
Druid thanks for the Sea Shepherds link. Somebody has to think about the sea cucumbers. When Dave Wakeling from the E. Beat took a break from the music biz, he worked for Greenpeace.
The Senate yesterday passed by unanimous consent a bill prohibiting federal contractors from avoiding Social Security and Medicare taxes by hiring workers through offshore shell companies.
more stories like thisEarlier this week, the House of Representatives also voted unanimously to ban the practice, used by former Halliburton subsidiary KBR to avoid payroll taxes for more than 10,000 American workers in Iraq.
The bill, which appears to have veto-proof support, now goes to President Bush. The White House has not indicated whether he supports it.
Senator John F. Kerry, a Massachusetts Democrat who cosponsored the bill with Senator Barack Obama of Illinois, said the money gained by closing the payroll tax loophole will help pay the cost of a tax relief package for veterans that was also included in yesterday’s bill.

Will Buh find an excuse to veto this or will Chaney have to do him in so he can veto it himself.

Hey Fred, you okay? Check out the video of the twister.
Wow, lots of damage in Colorado. I hope Fred was safe and enjoying hid orange juice and doughnuts.
If Congress were to open up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling, crude oil prices would probably drop by an average of only 75 cents a barrel, according to Department of Energy projections issued Thursday.
http://www.mcclatchydc.com/251/story/38223.html
If I remember correctly from the paper I wrote a few years back, there’s something like 7 billion bbls of economically feasible to recover oil under ANWR. As of 2005, the US used about 21 million bbls a day.
That’s less than year’s worth of our oil consumption. If you just want to consider imports, as of 2004, we import about 13.5 million bbls a day. So that’s less than a year and a half.
Not worth the environmental impact, but 7 billion times $130 a bbl (and rising) means lots of money at stake for the oil companies and their ‘friends.’
And I don’t for a second believe the price would drop even a penny a bbl, because it’s all about how much they figure they can screw us out of (aka, supply and demand).
Pj, did you edit your opening thread for today? I thought I saw something about someone not wanting to post here on the blog or something?
Blah.
If Fred lives in Longmont where I think he works, he should be okay. The tornado came down east of the interstate in Platteville and headed straight north for several miles. I hope Fred wasn’t living NE of there 😮
A woman I work with said her cat went into the closet an hour before the storm hit and wouldn’t come out :cat:
Joe Lieberman’s stepson, Rabbi Ethan Tucker, supports Obama.

So, the people who know Joe the turncoat lier best, don’t listen to him.
Unholy f*n’ shit :omg:
Hillary Clinton’s argument for staying in the race took a disturbing turn today. While meeting with the editorial board of South Dakota’s Sioux Falls Argus-Leader, she raised the specter of assassination while discussing why she would stay in the race:
:omg:  ending with grand results re 18 dear man… … :pirate: A!I!
Klinton has gone over the edge but I guess she’s taken some with her.
I would love to be a fly on the wall wherever Michelle Obama is right now. You could probably heat a decent-sized building with the steam that must be coming out of her ears.
As far as campaigns stretching into June, there are certainly other examples Clinton could have used. Even if she did not intend to raise the issue of assassination, and as much as I despise her tactics of the last few months I can’t believe she would be cold enough to do that on purpose (despite my Lady Macbeth comparison this morning), the reference was highly distasteful at best, and certainly not presidential in tone. Or even vice-presidential.
On the other hand, considering who currently occupies the office of the vice-presidency, maybe I should re-consider that last one.
Any thoughts of a unity ticket have to be questionable at this point, although I’m sure Obama is more willing to mend fences than I would be. I guess that’s why he’s running and I’m not. Among other reasons. 😀
K M,
You don’t think she drops these piddles ‘accidentally’ to plant seeds? She did the same thing in March. She and mccain. Oooh, I didn’t mean THAT. I’m tired or old or both but you want that kind of experience and gravitas.
Fact-she can put herself back in the mix should there be an awful incident. No real need for her to stick around for now just in case O’Bama gets assassinated. Of course, so could Gore or Edwards. In that case so she would probably want a head start.
FACT: split vote … basically 1/2 & 1/2 … and he is TOOO Dirty with “crooks” …even if vote was other way round I would be saying for Obama to Go For The Win…
Have ya been listening to the “youth” & The Rest pro Obama FOR: Nuclear Energy & Coal AS The New Clean … :omg: :reaper:

MY RATS are 8)
She apologized immediately, and uncharacteristically, which makes me believe she did not intend it to be offensive.
I don’t think Hillary is the ideal VP. She’s from the east coast and has no military background. I don’t think she adds enough. Jim Webb seems like a better choice. In fact, to me, he seems like a great choice.
I’m tired of the lying, spinning and bullshit. I’m not voting for realpolitic or Mr Smithers. Is that so wrong?
I think Webb is an “exxcelllent” choice (said in the voice of smithers but ironically.
I prefer leaving Webb in the Senate. You never know what you get to replace him from VA.
My veep picks from my practical, DLC-like place would be
Clark
Richardson
Biden
Gephart
but never Clinton (untrustworthy)
Me being nice, I ONLY WANT H. Clinton as President and B. Obama as VP
….. or he is splitting the party due to his ego … and as most everyone said FIRST, they would not vote for her, I now will never vote for NUCLEAR Industry Obama.
Me being nice. I voted for Clinton in NY primary, but have lost much respect for her, and she is attempting to split the party due to her ego. Still, I would vote for nuclear industry, liquid-coal, tire-burning Clinton in a second over McCain.
me, too. PJ
hmmm — ALL 5 — FIRST CHOICE — All Male …………..
a wee example of how the MEDIA EVERYWHERE “elected” Obama — MANY MONTHS AGO. including AAR & Nova M. I STILL STAND WITH ELIZABETH EDWARDS … H. Clinton is no better BUT worse than Obama.
I agree with that.
the party is basically 50/50 so I VOTE GORE as President,
Hill as VP, Obama or Edwards as A.G., the other SEC of State … ending with one or both on Supreme Court or similar  :knit: … :fist: A!I!
No Females even mentioned — without a thought…NOW it is with “thought…” just further proof (sniff 🙄 )
Hillary has proven she WILL win over Obama and McWhaterever, so The Super Delegates Must Vote For HER To WIN!!

Sorry. Forgot to not respond to subject changes anymore.
sorry about that
Olbermann: Referencing RFK’s assassination as a reason for staying in the race is unforgiveable
I’m sure video will appear soon
Clinton ran a crap campaign. She was all but anointed the candidate from the beginning. If only she’d been saying the kinds of things Edwards said, she’d have been in. She wound up running a dumb campaign, and then listened to her advisers and went negative at a time when people didn’t want a negative campaign. She and Bill lost a lot of respect they’d earned. Now this nonsense of wanting to change the rules that her DLC’ers put in place since they no longer favor her. And the assassination thing. I’d like to think that was inadvertent, but I don’t know. At the least, a stupid thing to say, at worst, well, I just don’t know.
Too bad.
KO has ALWAYS been on SOLELY Obama’s side. MORE prejudice the DEMs are showing. I am amazed. VOTE THEIR WAY ONLY.
“I say No.No. No!” … :pirate: :fist: :knit: A!I!
See Ya don’t even “SEE” where Obama & his group AND ALL MEDIA went negative regarding Hill and her group. He Has Always been treated with “kid gloves” . You are electing THE WORSE, which is Obama.
But I BLAME the same ol’ “masses” voting for THE EASIEST Looking Way AS ALWAYS 🙄 — and looking as though he will “cross” to rethugs and make Peace. WOW. I have so heard that before. I keep forgeting … “…to keep on keeping on…”
I just think you have Hillary blinders on. Obama is evil and everything Clinton does is pure. Frankly, I don’t understand it. Must be me.
I can’t stand either, yet H. Clinton is better, before she changed a bit — trying to appease more Obama-type voters. I feel she will listen to me, but Obama is in for “the & his glory”. She would listen … he does as he damn well pleases … *poof* BBS
Wow! Here is the KO video, as always much more powerful than the read.
hmm. well, maybe I’ll blog from the hospital. I think I may be there for a while.
I don’t know if there’ll be wifi.
uh, well…now I’m not sure that I need to go.
I’ll fill in the details later.
travis, I am running out but wtf is happening?
Be back in a few hours.
re 42 And How Does He Sound Different Than LimpBaw?
BTW … “Nothing Up My Sleeves”…Cute… … … :tap: A!I!
I had started then let go a bit…..
TRAVIS, WTF ARE YOU OKAY? That Was A Bit Ago…
Someone that I live with is slowly losing her bodily functions from old age. She was just taken by ambulance and I thought I’d go to the hospital, but really I guess there’s no need. Sorry if my previous comments sort of conveyed the idea that I was the one in need of medical attention.
I’ve been up dealing with situation for a while now, and there’s still more to do. I’ll try and throw more shit on blog when I’m done with the other shit.
That is a bit of relief. Good luck with it and let us know.
