Last day of Maron on AAR. For now, anyway. How can they possibly not give him the regular gig. Whether he’d want it or not, is another question. But he seems to be very happy to be back in NYC, and I think the change would do him good, with all that he’s gone through. The fact that I don’t actually know him in no way precludes me from pontificating on what would be best for him, of course.
Anyhow, if he can get an ironclad (in writing with money up front) agreement that they’ll give him the resources to do the kind of show he’s capable of doing and the time and promotion to build an audience that’s required, I say he should go for it.
Sam Seder should get the same kind of deal, and there’s plenty of room in AAR’s godawful lineup of shows for both of them.
Now, let’s get this week over with already.
Thank god the media has found another something irrelevant to obsess about with Flagler or Flager or whatever.

Stalking doesn’t count anymore? So much for sentimentality.
:rofl2:
McClellan on KO last night was interesting. Could get a LOT more interesing if Wexler and/or Conyers get him to testify. I still haven’t heard anyone on the right deny that any of the information in the book is true. Just ad hominen attacks and lots of sound and fury signifying nothing, as a couple of writer guys said once upon a time.
Fox pays Karl Rove for his opinions? I’m puzzled. And sad.
Who’s Flagler?
Mornin! It looks like a beautiful day.
I saw McClellan last night. But KO never asked him about Jeff Gannon. Who was he visiting in the Whitehouse?
Several Rethugs have mentioned that all McClellan’s dirty laundry is going to be dredged up. It is their modus operandi. I hope McClellan’s prepared.
You’re welcome here Andy, hopefully that lil car has ac
Thanks Krista although I think this first Seditionist road trip will be limited the northeast. Sue P you’re in the NYC area right?
Flagler or whatever his name is was a guest pastor at Obama’s church when Obama wasn’t there, and they have video of him doing what I thought was a pretty funny riff on Clinton’s ‘crying’ (which wasn’t crying, to be fair to her).
So the Today show spent lots of time on it, asking the question, “how bad will this be for Obama?”
Oh, it’s Michael Pfleger. Here’s the video (though this is much more than they showed on the teevee; the first part gives it a bit more context).
Andy, I’m in Red Hook, Brooklyn, though, especially during the summer, I spend time on Shelter Island which is about 80 miles east of NYC. You’re welcome wherever we are.
Two things about Pfleger
If that is Obama’s plan, the good-cop/bad-cop routine, I get it. The only way that organized religion is popular is because people want to be entertained. Non-entertaining religions are not very popular in the greater scheme of things.
I wish the priests I had to sit through as a kid were that entertaining. The best one I remember was when he started bitching at a bunch of people who came in late, saying they always came in late and left early and needed to adjust their priorities if they couldn’t spend an hour a week at church.
Then they all left early. :rofl2:
They were among 40 or so people who were tasting under the influence of a small red berry called miracle fruit at a rooftop party in Long Island City, Queens, last Friday night. The berry rewires the way the palate perceives sour flavors for an hour or so, rendering lemons as sweet as candy.

The miracle fruit, Synsepalum dulcificum, is native to West Africa and has been known to Westerners since the 18th century. The cause of the reaction is a protein called miraculin, which binds with the taste buds and acts as a sweetness inducer when it comes in contact with acids, according to a scientist who has studied the fruit, Linda Bartoshuk at the University of Florida’s Center for Smell and Taste. Dr. Bartoshuk said she did not know of any dangers associated with eating miracle fruit.

Twenty former U.S. attorneys, both Republicans and Democrats, urged a federal judge Thursday to intervene in a constitutional battle over whether two White House officials should be forced to testify before Congress about the firings of nine U.S. attorneys.
The former top prosecutors, including two who served under President Bush, argue in court papers that the judge should reject the Bush administration’s assertion of blanket immunity for presidential chief of staff Joshua Bolten and former White House counsel Harriet Miers in the congressional investigation

Rare uncontacted tribe photographed in Amazon
RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) – Amazon Indians from one of the world’s last uncontacted tribes have been photographed from the air, with striking images released on Thursday showing them painted bright red and brandishing bows and arrows.
Gee Vern I wonder who’s next.

Shelter Island looks a bit like Nantucket Sue.

Maron was killing me yesterday. So I woke up at 5 to listen to the
replay (we get just one hour of it), and it was even funnier.
Marc was talking yesterday about trying to be black. Looks like Phlegler hasn’t give up the dream. :priest:
I wonder what the laws of limitation are for ‘Bama being responsible for whoever is a guest pastor. :jerk:
A fifth anniversary you might have missed yesterday- with a message from Sam

No such luck, Andy. Shelter Island has lots of beaches, a number of bars and hotels, very expensive restaurants and a supermarket that thinks staying open until 6:30 is staying open late. In other words, if you don’t want to drink or be served four arugala leaves and a nasturtium flower for $25, there’s not much to do.
But, it’s nice and green and there are lots of deer and birds and even a few foxes.
I’m sure Andy would be happy to check out the foxes. :hubba:
We don’t have a local Drinking Liberally chapter here, but in honor of their anniversary, I did drink liberally last night. And will continue to show my support tonight.
Speaking of dead composers…
It’s Butch in a dream diary!
