It’s too hard to type this morning, and I don’t really have much to say. Except, Iraq wants to know when the hell we’re getting out. Be nice, and have a good day.

Operation Iraqi Freedom. Give them their freedom from us.
Give us freedom, too:
Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Calif.), who has primary jurisdiction over the executive branch, is considering legislation to eliminate Karl Rove-type advisers in future administrations.
The chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee hints broadly that such a bill could ban the use of federal funds to finance such a politically partisan office.
“Why should we be using taxpayer dollars to have a person solely in charge of politics in the White House?” Waxman said in an interview. “Can you imagine the reaction if each member of Congress had a campaign person paid for with taxpayer dollars?”

SALEM, Ore. – Relax it and tax it.
That’s the motto behind a new cannabis initiative that would allow Oregon’s state-controlled liquor stores to legally sell marijuana to adults.
Initiative backers said their plan would send 90 percent of the proceeds from the state’s sale of marijuana to Oregon’s General Fund, which could lower Oregonians’ state tax burden.
Smaller percentages would go to funding drug abuse education and treatment programs.
The initiative would also legalize the growing of hemp, a non-drug variant of cannabis that can be used to make industrial-strength fibers and bio-fuels.

No word on Maron v Seder yet. ๐
I’m watching O’Bama in Atlanta at the moment but Seder will be on for Malloy the rest of the week but there is some pending change of the SammyCam which I assume has also M v. S.
You bastard!
I don’t need to use one of these things – ๐ , ๐ – for that, do I?
For those who care:
I think it’s the Micael Vick ripple effect.
Wow! This has got to be the most retarded poll Iรขโฌโขve seen yet.
Pet owners prefer McCain over Obama
Comment by Kristapea รขโฌโ July 8, 2008 @ 10:55 am
Krista, if you think the poll is retarded, just wait until the talking-head shows start discussing it. I can already hear Tweety talking about how pet owners are “regular” people.
On the other hand, if Rachel is on again tonight for Keith, I can already see her rolling her overly-mascaraed eyes.
๐
Rachel’s wearing mascara?? :rofl2: Maybe next a bow in her hair? :knit:
She’d need the hair, first.
Well, that poll says McCain leads 42/37 with pet owners, and Obama leads 48/34 with non pet owners. But 63% of households have pets. Because the public needs to know, I’ve crunched the numbers, and it looks like this:
Looks like they both need to target the undecided pet owners.
Of course, we don’t really know for sure, since we don’t know how evenly ‘votes’ are distributed between pet and non-pet households. One might intuit that a home with pets would tend to be more “family” oriented, thus having at least a couple of votes, but then there are lots of these ‘cat lady’ types, living alone.
Then we don’t know if pet people are more or less likely to vote.
So, I think we need more information here to really determine the importance of this pet poll.
I’d also like to see a Bill Frist vs. Mitt Romney poll, to see how pet people feel about those two.
Quick, somebody get Zogby on the line.
Obama’s bait and switch
Afterthoughts: This may sound harsh, but I think leftists need to spend less time attacking others (like Obama) for not being as progressive as they are, and start thinking more about why leftists are not more influential in getting people in the “center” or even the right to think like they do. And no, blaming the mainstream media doesn’t get it, that’s become too much of an excuse. More thoughts on this as time goes by.
h/t to Shelly of the 3rd Party thing
and what pets? Mainstream cats :billcat: and dogs :pup: ?
How about wolves, :parrot: gators, :penguin: rats, :bee: mice, chickens, :sheep: :hubba:
Yeah, and are the pollsters equating livestock with pets? That might explain a lot of the McCain support.
I’m not sure the deer tied to your roof rack should count as a ‘pet’ either.
wtf!?
I just heard an ad for this on the Schultz show.
T. Boone Pickens proposes energy plan for America
IT’S TIME TO STOP AMERICA’S ADDICTION TO FOREIGN OIL
America is in a hole and it’s getting deeper every day. We import 70% of our oil at a cost of $700 billion a year – four times the annual cost of the Iraq war.
I’ve been an oil man all my life, but this is one emergency we can’t drill our way out of. But if we create a new renewable energy network, we can break our addiction to foreign oil.
On January 20, 2009, a new President gets sworn in. If we’re organized, we can convince Congress to make major changes towards cleaner, cheaper and domestic energy resources.
To get this done, I need your help. Check out the plan. If you think it’s worth fighting for, please join our effort.
That’s interesting.
I’m here in Winthrop, Wa.
Hot Damn! :hot:
Maybe he can get the OSU Marching Band perform alt-energy message formations during halftime shows next season.
There were a lot of deer on the sides of the road on the way over here.
I’ll post a picture or two later tonight.
Not sure where I see this going, T, but you got my interest.
I just heard the ad again and he’s talking wind and solar to free up natural gas for transportation. No mention of nuke and coal. I’ll have to look at his site more later.

Just watched the picture-prefect ‘Bama family on KO. The older of the two girls said they’re getting a dog as soon as Dad gets elected- so they’ve got the pet thing covered.
So long as they don’t let the bad man lead the dog into the bedroom

The weather in Bandon is perfect

Moving on…
No 24 this year so my folks are taking up The Wire for a Monday night meet-up. Saw the first 2 epis last night. Looks good. My ‘nanner puddin’, not so much.
Maybe there will be a Painting Girl blog.
