In big news for geeks, the DirecTV satellite moved to its final orbit (give or take a little minor tweaking) yesterday. Speculation is we may start to see new HD channels by the end of the month – and hopefully I’ll get my locals in HD before too long.
In other news, the Mega Millions jackpot is up to $125 million today. If you don’t hear from me tomorrow, you’ll know what happened.

I haven’t heard or thought about this song in years. But I was reading an email this morning in which the author referred to herself jokingly as a rock star. Voila!

Drove through pouring rain around Lake Ontario. Had lunch on Sardus Bay where the owner proudly displayed his “2003 Bush Award” for giving thousands to mensa-man. Toured Oswego, saw where S was wasted through the seventies, just missed eating at (famous?) Rudy’s on campus. Ended up in Syracause and walked around university on, literally, a huge hill. Tried to find a recommended Italian restaurant on Genesse street. Tried to call an disconnected number to stalk pj a little- just for a restaurant recommendation.
How do they get up the hill to the University without a ski-lift in the winter-really?
Is thesick-o land the big one at the bottom of the hill from the university?
If Barack Obama has a problem among Jewish voters, then Sen. Joseph Lieberman is in monumental trouble.
Among the most high-profile Jews in Congress, Lieberman is viewed far more unfavorably than the presumptive Democratic nominee, according to a new poll. Only 37 percent of Jews view the Connecticut Independent in a favorable light compared to 48 percent who have a negative perception. As for Obama, 60 percent of Jews view him favorably while 34 percent view him unfavorably.
The findings were released as part of a recent survey of American Jews by the new progressive pro-Israel group J Street. They seem to upturn some of this year’s conventional political wisdom.

Wow, is that the only weapon he had?? Anyone remember this movie?
KP, I confess that I never heard f Killdozer. But, I like the way the men stand there and look with “manly” detachment at the driverless machine.
I love how most machine/animal oddity is explained by radiation from space. If someone were to try to learn about radiation from Hollywood movies they would conclude that super powers could be attained by exposure to space radiation.
I just heard that Conan O’Brian is taking over Leno’s spot on The Tonight Show. Does that mean Marc gets to be exposed to a new audience? I don’t think he’s ever been on The Tonight Show.

Hey art, sorry I missed ya. Are you sure that wasn’t Sodus Bay? Yep, that was Sicko land at the bottom of the hill, where I am right now, in fact. Part of it, anyway. At the bottom of the hill are our academic buildings, nestled in amongst the VA hospital, and another hospital which is attached to our. Go down the hill a bit further, and you’ve got our hospital, and a few more of our academic buildings (though we have our tentacles stretched out even further than that, and still growing).
The judge in the first American war crimes trial since World War II barred evidence on Monday that interrogators obtained from Osama bin Laden’s driver following his capture in Afghanistan.
Prosecutors are considering whether to appeal the judge’s ruling — a development that could halt the trial of Salim Hamdan that began earlier Monday after years of delays and legal setbacks.
“We need to evaluate … to what extent it has an impact on our ability to fully portray his criminality in this case, but also what it might set out for future cases,” said Army Col. Lawrence Morris, the tribunals’ chief prosecutor.

PJ, (pjs) New moniker? No avatar? Or is it the spirit of PJ posting?
I was using my alternate personality in order to set up the new ‘authors’ to take over some of the posting (need to be able to see things the way y’all do so I can explain how it works.

Hi pj- Yeah, it was Sodus Bay. We just kinda wandered about aimlessly. My step-son had never gotten to see much outside of Rochester. Did you ever hear about eating “The Garbage Plate” at Nick Tahoe’s? It was completely disgusting :barf:
I liked what I saw of Syracuse a lot more than Rochester. :billcat:
Maybe when we return in a few years to see the in-laws again….
