Finally, this week is over. It’s been a long one. There’s been a dark cloud following me around for about three weeks now. No horrible tragedies – just stuff to make my pain in the ass life a bigger pain in the ass. I think I need to take a week and just go off by myself somewhere. Maybe hang out in woods and camp someplace or something. Not today, though. Have a good one.
No comments after 54 minutes? People are slipping.
Here’s to the weekend, and just one week left before I leave my employer of 11 years for a new job that pays less, but is 8 miles from home (as opposed to 40) and has a pension instead of a 401(k).
OK, no fair leaving a voicemail and not telling us who you are.
Good luck with the new job Beemer (and getting through one final week). Being that much closer to home will be great (I’m trying to wrangle a fulltime gig that’s 1 mile from home instead of 5; doesn’t sound like much difference, but it means being able to come home for lunch to let the dogs out, and not having to deal with traffic and a parking garage).

Mommy, what’s a pension?
Sweetheart, that’s what employees used to earn to live on in their golden years until St. Ronald Reagan decided to eliminate the middle class. It was long ago, when phones were stuck to the wall and had dials instead of buttons, and when you had to walk over and touch the TV to change the channel.
We’re all better off now, don’t you agree?
:barf: :barf: :barf:
Congrats, Beemer. A pension is a great thing, and you can keep the remote control, too!
A Congressional leader pledged this morning to introduce legislation that would block an eleventh-hour effort by the Labor Department to make it more difficult to limit workers’ exposure to chemicals on the job.
Rep. George Miller (D-Calif.), chairman of the House Education and Labor Committee, said he was determined to stop a “secret rule” that he described as a Bush administration effort to block the next president from trying to reduce worker deaths and illness caused by workplace toxins.

This, no doubt, is part of Bushco’s Keep America Safe effort. Now, if they’d only define America.
The mysterious sudden brightening and wavelike movements of the aurora borealis, also called the Northern Lights, are caused by periodic explosions of magnetic energy 80,000 miles above Earth, NASA researchers reported.
There’s video, too.
Soon after Osama bin Laden’s driver got here in 2002, he told interrogators the identity of the al Qaeda chief’s most senior bodyguard — then a fellow prison camp detainee.
But, inexplicably, the U.S. let the bodyguard go.
This startling information was revealed in the fourth day of the war crimes trial of Salim Hamdan, 37, facing conspiracy and material support for terror charges as an alleged member of bin Laden’s inner circle.

Oh, that was me.
Automotives
The engine is frozen and has to be replaced. As my mechanic’s father told me 25 years ago on another occasion, “Vernon, we’re fooked!” So unless we can find a new used engine for replacement (which will still be at least $1K bottom), it’s over. I will join the carless class which of course eliminates a large % of employment possibilities for me.
Friday
That sux Vern. You might be better off finding a $500 gas guzzler car to use til you can get something new. I’m sure there are lots of people trying to unload their suv’s.
Vern- I’m really sorry to hear that. I didn’t even know you were out of work. :smack:
That’s too bad, Vernon. I hpe you can find some affordable, motorized transport, soon.

Subject: Report of Rove threats against witness Michael Connell
Dear Attorney General Mukasey:
We have been confidentially informed by a source we believe to be credible that Karl Rove has threatened Michael Connell, a principal witness we have identified in our King Lincoln case in federal court in Columbus, Ohio, that if he does not agree to “take the fall” for election fraud in Ohio, his wife Heather will be prosecuted for supposed lobby law violations. This appears to be in response to our designation of Rove as the principal perpetrator in the Ohio Corrupt Practices Act/RICO claim with respect to which we issued document hold notices last Thursday to you and to the US Chamber of Commerce Institute for Legal Reform. See: http://www.bradblog.com/?p=6189 and http://www.archive.org/d…tionFraudInOhioCourtCase.
I have informed court chambers and am in the process of informing the Ohio Attorney General’s and US Attorney’s offices in Columbus for the purpose, among other things, of seeking protection for Mr. Connell and his family from this reported attempt to intimidate a witness.
Concurrently herewith, I am informing Mr. Conyers and Mr. Kucinich in connection with their Congressional oversight responsibilities related to these matters.
Because of the serious engagement in this matter that began in 2000 of the Ohio Statehouse Press Corps, 60 Minutes, the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, C-Span and Jim VandeHei, and the public’s right to know of gross attempts to subvert the rule of law, I am forwarding this information to them, as well.

Winstead on Maddow
——————–
Subject: Lizz on AAR Tonight at 830PM EDT
Hey y’all!
Happy Friday, yo! Put down your self-medication of choice long enough to cop a Lizz listen TONIGHT at 830EDT when she will be going womano-a-womano with Rachel Maddow. You can listen on your local AAR station or at airamerica.com.
Hey, HEY! Someone calling in to Jeffs’ show today reference Marc when he subbed for Malloy. Talking about the mentality of Repugs and their very emotional, tribal reactions to the facts.
I have been meaning to express my heartfelt thanks to Randi for utilizing the superior talents of Marc and Sam Seder as substitute hosts during her recent vacation time.
It just shows how un-petty and secure she is in her great intellect and analysis and hosting to permit talent superior on almost every level to take her place to maintain the high level of excellence of her wonderful program.
I guess it also shows who ‘wears the pants’ at NovaM now.
I doubt that there is a future for Marc/Sam there. She has sucked all of the money and the air out of the place and the business models.
Hope those Founders’ Club memberships keep on chugging along. That will really make the thing blow up.
I’m sure NovaM will take on Marc and Sam when it is feasible. These things take time. Hasn’t Sam been on the teevee as a pundit to some extant? That will make him more valuable. I think Rachel is rocketing beyond mere radio and shooting for a teevee/cable show, but that leaves a space in radio when she does make that step.
That’s my point. Randi will never let it happen. I hope her contract with NovaM is a short one. They will be hampered while she is around.
Sam was busy with NetRoots for a while but has been free since Sunday but not Maron. Malloy uses them when he can.
:pirate: :tap: A!I!V! 🙄
Thanks earlier V for telling of Lizz going “womano” a “womano”. :dancers:
