It’s Republican Day here on the last day of August, as all of us who aren’t in Minneapolis/St. Paul begin a week free from the oppressive stench of the Christofascist Neocon Zombie Brigade (as long as we don’t turn on our teevees, of course).
On Press the Meat, Tom Brokaw is live from the GOP Convention with Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty on to talk about what it feels like to get passed over for VP by Sarah “Harriet Miers” Palin. Plus, Maria Bartiromo, David Gregory, Doris Kearns Goodwin, Andrea Mitchell, Mike Murphy & Kelly O’Donnell will sit around the roundtable and tell us what a maverick that John McCain is.
On one of the most nauseating Faze the Nation episodes in memory, Bush Buddy Bobby Schieffer has Mayor 9/11, Guidi Ruliani, our old pal Joey “Droopy Dog” Lieberman, the disgraced (and disgraceful) McCain advisor Carly Fiorina, and NY Times empty suit, David Brooks.
It’s the Man of the Week himself over at Fux News, as Maverick Senator, War Hero, former POW, and everybody’s favorite crazy old uncle John “POW” McCain (who was once a POW) gets interrogated by Weaselface Wallace. We can only hope that Weaselface doesn’t apply the torture tactics that McCain had to face when he a POW. Although torture IS an effective method of obtaining information as war criminal baby killer former POW McCain will happily attest to. There’s be the usual “all-star” Fuxhead panel, plus Mike Miller, director of operations, Republican National Convention.
Fux News might get the big Kahuna, but the Goebbels network gets Mrs. Kahuna (#2) as Cindy “trollop” McCain shovels on some makeup to hang out with George Snufalufagus to answer the rumors about whether St. John vetted Sarah Palin by having her nude jello wrestle with Cindy while John sat in a dark corner, watching and masturbating while George’s other guest today, L’il Lindsey Graham, shoved a broken bamboo pole into Johnny’s rectum (because that’s then only way he can get off after being a POW). John Kerry will also be on to call bullshit on the Republicans, and axis of drivel is reunited as Sam :omg: Donaldson, Cokie “the hag” Roberts, and George :jerk: Will join little Matty Dowd around the roundtable.
On CNN’s Late Emission, Wolf Blitzer pulls a Boehner, talks to Crist, and chats with Tim “no money to fix bridges” Pawlenty, as well as being joined by Fred “see, I told you you shoulda picked me” Thompson, SC cracker Governor Mark Sanford, VA cracker Eric Cantor, assistant McCain POW mentioner, Nancy Pfotenhauer, token Democrats Tom Daschle and Chris Dodd, plus the guy determined to have the Bush Administration improve to 1 for 2 on Gulf hurricanes, FEMA Administrator.
Later, on 60 Minutes, Scott Pelley interviews Barack Obama and Joe Biden, Scott Pelley reports on Hamid Karzai’s irrational demands that the U.S. military quit killing civilians in air strikes, and, quite appropriate for the opening of the GOP convention, Anderson Cooper reports that “minimally conscious people” are being re-evaluated for degrees of consciousness.
Hey, no work for me tomorrow! Have a good one.
What is the meaning of this?

Football, anyone?
I found this comment by a CFL fan, on a game between the Montreal Alouettes and the BC Lions, to be interesting:
You’ve got to love a defense that can hold the other team 3 times on the one. That is what football is all about. 1st and goal should not mean you are going to score.
The other thing great about the CFL is that a team is required to play the whole game. Being up 15 points with a minute on the board does not mean you win or lose. It means there is a minute of work left to do.
Leave the NFL in the states where it belongs.
GO RIDERS!
:nixon:
OK, back to the easel.
pj- Have they ever thought about giving up the Orange?
http://www.suathletics.com/index.asp?path=football
Just kidding.
But hey, things could be worse. You could be turning 60 today.
Nothing to write home about.
I wish I could give up SU. Unfortunately, it’s genetic. On the bright side, it’s looking good for getting a new coach.
“I cain’t quit chu Orange” :40:
I tried to post this yesterday but computer was hinky. You’ve probably already seen it. But this is from a real texas newspaper. The only thing different I’ve read is that the flight was 11 hours since she stopped off in Seattle to be monitored.

President Bush is skipping the Republican National Convention on Monday and will travel instead to Texas to meet with emergency workers and evacuees as Hurricane Gustav bears down on the Gulf Coast.

Hey PJ, did you notice who Syracuse plays next Saturday? I wasn’t aware of it until I went digging around for scores online last night.
There, fixed that.
“I pledge that tomorrow night, and if necessary throughout our convention, we will act as Americans and not as Republicans because America needs us now,” McCain said.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080831/ap_on_el_pr/cvn_convention_rdp
A Rethug admits that acting like a Republican is NOT acting like an American. Finally. we get some straight talk.
Yep. And if they lose next week, I think we’ll just have to cancel the season.
:cat:
jack johnson :nana:
Oooh, oooh, oooh… The AP hanged that Quote (#12) and it now reads:
“This is a time when we have to do away with our party politics and we have to act as Americans,” he said as fellow Republicans converged on their convention city to nominate him for the White House.
Had a Dem said hat do you think they would have edited?
Do you think they edited or is it possible they got the quote wrong in the first place………….Naaaahhh! We’re living in Kafkaland! :rofl2:
I am disgusted with my governor, Tim Polenta, whoc appears to be a big bowl of yellow mush. He basically sided with Intelligent Design on NATIONAL TV today.
I also posted this to DKos
” Palin is a phony, too
She keeps on referring to them as snowmachines, when winter denizens call them snowmobiles. What’s up with that?
by Webster Hubble Telescope on Sun Aug 31, 2008 at 02:49:26 PM PDT
nah, that’s what they call them up there n/t
by Eman on Sun Aug 31, 2008 at 03:03:21 PM PDT
Oh, that makes sense, thanks
It’s also why Ted Stevens calls computers “tubemachines”
by Webster Hubble Telescope on Sunday, August 31, 2008 “
Anyone interested in a Sevylor X2020 Diveyak Inflatable Kayak? I may be able to throw in some bandage supplies and a 2 hp motor.
uh, we actually do call them snowmachines
Tubemachine!
Yes, Travis, I kind of figured. It made a good joke though. I wonder if Polaris and Arctic Cat, which are both headquartered in Minnesota (Medina and Thief River Falls), change the name when they sell them in Alaska?
About the kayak, is that specially designed for diving use? It would seem awfully squirelly to navigate with unless it has a rudder.
Wow, it says there’s 12 users online. Even though that’s hard to believe…, is there someone who could tell me how to make itunes the preferred device to record maron v seder which I guess is formatted in flash-video? Somehow, I’ve got the preferences set for Realplayer. I want to make it for Itunes. I opened itunes to preferences but I couldn’t see anyplace to change it to capture/record etc, Flash-video.
I’m pretty clueless tech wise but it would be a great 60th bday present.
I also tried going to itunes import but I couldn’t find a file in realplayer that said flash-video or maron v seder ect.
Re: 20
How much are you asking for it, Travis? I have a friend going up to Portland in a couple of weeks might be interested.
Oh, I’m not really sure how much. I’ll have to adjourn for the night and come to a consensus with the owner.
I’ve used it once on lake Washington with the 2 hp motor. There was a lot of wind and I didn’t like it very much. The boat is designed for diving, so if you intend on not getting wet stay clear of this thing.
Yea, it reminds me of a small Zodiac boat that Cousteau popularized.
