Oh boy, Monday again. I thought it would never get here. Gotta get out there and pay some taxes, after all. Especially since it looks like John and Jane Q Public will not only be bailing out rich Americans, but rich foreigners, too. Between all this bailing out stuff, tax cuts for the wealthy, and spreading democracy, it’s lucky they let us regular folks keep as much of our paychecks as they do. But then, we have to have a couple of bucks to be good little consumer-citizens, I guess.

Obama in Dunedin FL Wednesday morning. I’m going if I can get the day off work. We need to get him motivated to kick Grampy’s withered ass Friday night.

Stage dive successful! :yippee: Did ya hear me Kevin?
Is there a show today?
The Kinks were/are as good if not better than The Beatles. They were overshadowed by them and The Stones and I believe will be more popular in the long term as young people discover them.
I guess there is.
PBS poll asks if Palin is qualified for Veep. Yes’ are winning right now, let’s change that.

I survived my first calculus class without incident. No falls, broken pencils or crinkled paper. We briefly covered the origins of defining the area of a circle by the greeks and chinese. Pretty damn easy to sit through for 50 minutes. Now if I can manage to hit the books for a couple hours each night without distracting myself, I may actually get through the week unscathed… I just need to remember that there’s coffee on the stove that just started to percolate.
I actually missed the show today. Something about free gourmet pizza that did not pan out. However, the ever vigilant Cat Chew has already posted the audio. No more Fat Headdie :yippee:

I’d rather listen to the Kinks or either Davies brother than the Beatles or the Stones. In fact, I rarely listen to the Beatles or the Stones. You here them enough just from living. I always listen to the Kinks.
My doctor is even named David Watts.
Here and hear- I mix those up when I start typing faster than I should be.

I heard ya, I heard ya! :yippee:
Doesn’t look like I’m going to be able to get Wednesday off. 😥
Sean, if your show is at Ruth Eckerd Hall, you’re not very far away from the park in Dunedin where the rally will be held. Maybe you can bring Enrique along!

Later…
Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) said he opposes the $700 billion bailout of Wall Street investment firms, a move that could threaten swift passage of the emergency legislation.
snip.
“After reviewing the administration’s proposed bailout plan, I believe it is completely unacceptable,†DeMint, chairman of the Senate Republican Steering Committee, said in the statement. “This plan does nothing to address the misguided government policies that created this mess and it could make matters much worse by socializing an entire sector of the U.S. economy.â€
“This plan fails to oversee or regulate the government failures that led to this crisis,†DeMint added.
snip
“This plan will not only cause our nation to fall off the debt cliff, it could send the value of the dollar into a free-fall as investors around the world question our ability to repay our debts,†said DeMint. “It’s also very likely that this plan will extend the cycle of bailouts, encouraging other companies to behave in reckless ways that create the need for even more bailouts, triggering an endless run on our treasury.â€

Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-Texas), chairman of the conservative House Republican Study Committee, questioned the proposed bailout Friday, saying he was “unconvinced that this is the proper remedy for our nation at this time.â€
Rep. Mike Pence (Ind.), another conservative Republican, said in a statement Saturday: “Congress must not hastily embrace a cure that may do more harm to our economy than the disease of bad debt.â€

This is not good. I agree with conservative Congresscritters. I must be mad!!
The plan that Bushco wants to pass quickly is:
Allocate $700 billion. Paulson (who has been wrong about the economy up ’til now) spends it in whatever way he sees fit, no court or regulatory agency can challenge him, and we and our progeny get to pay for it.

If the Bush administration wants to pass something quickly, you KNOW it’s a scam. :growl:
Sue P- I agree. I’ve heard Shelby (from Alabama?) talking about this. He’s a repug but he’s definently not on board with this. Krugman was just on with David whatshisname on MSNBC. Says there needs to be major revisions. Lehman Bros set aside 2.5 BILLION $ for bonuses. Are you :fu: ‘in kidding me 😡 :fustrate:
I must be going insane when a republican from the deep south is in agreement with Paul Krugman.
Sue, thanks for posting all the stories that you do, I’d never see this stuff if not for you. I’m too busy trying to survive and I can’t peruse the blogs and things like I used to.
I have to remind people around here, when they talk about the brown people or the black people, that this is a class war, not a race war. :tap:
The bottom Sun band was taken during the winter solstice in 2007 December, when the Sun could not rise very high in the sky nor stay above the horizon very long.
The top Sun band was taken during the summer solstice in 2008 June, when the Sun rose highest in the sky and stayed above the horizon for more than 12 hours.
The middle band was taken during the Vernal Equinox in 2008 March, but it is the same sun band that Earthlings will see today, the day of the Autumnal Equinox.
We need a bubble up economy not a trickle down economy. :fist:
I just made that up.
:bong: Yeah, bubbler it up.
oooh, nice one Travis. Wish I could indulge. :fustrate:
The Bad Plus
I couldn’t make it to the McInsane rally but I’ve heard from reliable sources that there were as many protesters as there were supporters.
