It sure seems like we’re headed for some pretty tough times. I think I’ll be OK – just have to work until I die, but at least I should be fairly secure in my job. Once nice thing about working for the State – they can’t move pick up NY and move it India. Though if McCain and Wolfkiller get into the White House, I might wish they could. I feel bad for the kids, though. We drove by a wedding party leaving the church the other day, and all I could think of was how tough it is right now for a young couple just starting off. Never mind what kind of a world the grandkids are going to inherit. A fascist, morally and fiscally bankrupt world with poisoned air and water (EPA says perchlorate is AOK; yummy!) with rising sea levels, and monster hurricanes, I guess.
Fortunately, the rich folks and their spawn will be all set in their posh bunkers. And that’s really what it’s all about.
The Obama event in Dunedin (that I can’t go to) starts at 1 PM, with doors opening at 10:30.
As of 6:30 there were 50-60 people in line ALREADY.
The good news is I can stream the audio at work.
The bad news is it’s opposite Maron vs. Seder. Great day to do the show early, dipsticks. 😡
Is this some small sign that the :sheep: ple are waking up? http://www.pollster.com/blogs/us_obama_52_mccain_43_abcpost9.php
Not looking so good when you see “toss-ups” like Minnesota, Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Virginia (that’s 117 EVs), not counting some of the other pissant little states (no offense). McCain is alhead in all but MN and PA, and not only does Obama need to be ahead in those states, he needs to be ahead by more than 5%, the way the voting is rigged.
I just can’t imagine anybody voting for McCain, unless they just plain can’t stand to see a black guy as preznit.
Don’t know which polls you’re looking at. I know they’re all over the place. Here in pissant Colorado, ‘Bama’s up by 5%- biggest lead ever. (of course I don’t remember which poll I’m quoting). 🙄
If ‘Bama was white, he’d be up by 11% 😡 <– not meant for him being black but the rascist’s who’ll vote for anything that’s run up the ‘ol white flag pole :tap:
Cool.
I was looking at the polls on the map from the link you posted (CO, Obama up 2.7%, BTW). National polls really don’t matter (just ask President Gore).
NPR just ran a story that backed up your point :omg:
I think I saw the poll I was talking about on the local teevee.
Hopefully, greed will overcome racism.
I kinda like these

fuck kevin i was counting on a ride 😡
Kevin doesn’t have a car, Sean. He’s a bus rider.
Dear American:
I need to ask you to support an urgent secret business relationship with a transfer of funds of great magnitude.
I am Ministry of the Treasury of the Republic of America. My country has had crisis that has caused the need for large transfer of funds of 800 billion dollars US. If you would assist me in this transfer, it would be most profitable to you.
I am working with Mr. Phil Gram, lobbyist for UBS, who will be my replacement as Ministry of the Treasury in January. As a Senator, you may know him as the leader of the American banking deregulation movement in the 1990s. This transactin is 100% safe.
This is a matter of great urgency. We need a blank check. We need the funds as quickly as possible. We cannot directly transfer these funds in the names of our close friends because we are constantly under surveillance. My family lawyer advised me that I should look for a reliable and trustworthy person who will act as a next of kin so the funds can be transferred.
Please reply with all of your bank account, IRA and college fund account numbers and those of your children and grandchildren to wallstreetbailout@treasury.gov so that we may transfer your commission for this transaction. After I receive that information, I will respond with detailed information about safeguards that will be used to protect the funds.
Yours Faithfully Minister of Treasury Paulson

From England we have The Kinks. From America (including Canuckistan and Arkansas) we’ve got The Band.
Oh, that kind of a ride.
Today’s MvS starts at 1:30 Eastern so if O’Bama gets started on time you can catch some of both.
I can’t imagine why there would be any problem with Sean cruising up to the rally with a big rig though.
pj, I noticed that the new MvS website is using WordPress. Any thoughts?

Hey, wait a minute… 😡
Awe Kevin, don’t worry, everyone will be riding buses in a few years. You’re way ahead of the curve. 😀
So, I just got an Australian movie from the library called, “He Died With A Felafel In His Hand” :rofl2: Bill O’Really has made that one of the funniest words in the english language.
Looking at Lincoln Karim’s photos of the wildlife in Central Park, is like taking breath. While the economy collapses and the greedy guys of American finance make yet another grab for unearned riches, Palemale and his fellows exist in an entirely different plane, unconcerned with the very things that are so important to us.
Nice shots, today of Palemale striking his most becoming poses and enjoying the beginning of fall in the company of Lola.

Not really. They’ll probably do it in something like Drupal when all’s said and done – at least if it’s gonna be as fancy as they say it will be. I haven’t really been tuning into the MvS stuff lately. It’s kind of annoying dealing with all the audio stutters and stuff (Sam’s stutters are usually plenty for me), and I think I’d rather hear Maron separately. Every time he gets on a roll, Sam seems to step on him.
Mostly it’s an inconvenient time for me to try and watch.
Oh, President dummy is on the teevee tonight. I’m sure he’ll assuage all our fears.
This is amazing. But I would have named the dog Tenacity or Doggedness.
The softball on Letterman
I guess this is a promo
Do you know what jamming is, schmuckers?
I guess indian summers are a good thing where most of you are but here it SUX! Cripes, I’m so sick o this heat! :tap:
Today’s audio links to MvS if anyone still cares.
I have a feeling the real MvS on AAR online will be a lot better technologically. Not much can be done for Seder stutter (which I never notice) but he is a much better podnah than Riley or Jim Earl.
That’s a little subjective. We can go that route though just for fun.
Alaskans are planning a Hold Palin Accountable demonstration. According to the Alaskan blog, Mudflats, there is a broad, bipartisan anger at the McScheme campaign’s intrusion into their state and local government. In particular they are angry at Rethug lawyer, Ed O’Callaghan’s meddling in the Alaska Department of law.
I’ve been reading Mudflats recently. I like her. Good information and I like her sense of humor (which probably means it’s pretty bad.)
Yeah, I check out the adn website too every so often.
There’s termination dust starting to creep down into Anchortown.
I like MvS. They’re fun to listen to and a lot easier to take than Lionel or Randy.
 eh i slept all day
Travis, I saw a few stories on online textbooks recently concerning the spiraling costs of books.
Riley was OK although I thought the rest of the crew was the real talent at MS. I LOVE Jim Earl and that short thing in Burbank was great but I don’t think it really ever worked out. There was something missing in the personal chemistry.
*I look to Marc to bring back some of the funny in Sam and Seder to challenge the serious in Maron.
I have to have something to cling to.
Riley and Maron seemed to have great chemistry and they complemented each other. It sounded as if they were having a good time. Jim Earl and Marc sounded more distant. I agree Vernon, the chemistry was lacking.
Sam and Marc have a more interesting relationship, but they sounds a if they have a real friendship, of long standing.
I saw some of those stories about pricey books. What will be very cool is when everything goes digital and we carry around something that’s less than a pound for everything we’ll ever need to learn.
Save your back, cash and some trees. It would be nice if Apple could design something better.
I like MvS as it is and look forward to better technology. But I’m in love with both of those guys so I’m biased. I love that people stumble in and don’t know they’re doing a show or Janeane stopping by to make Marc and Sam bracelets while she talks politics. I really love being able to im them during the show when I get a thought. I hope this format takes off because I think it’s pretty cool. But if it does, it seems the im’s could become too much to handle.
Preznit says the financial crisis is our fault for taking irresponsible mortagages and Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae for selling mortgage based securities, implying that they were gummint run and the only ones selling those things.
Then he said this was a crisis that should make us all afraid and willing to shell out the $700 billion.
Then he said the economy is strong.
:smack:
Nobody is listening to him anymore. His approval rating is 19%. What a friggin’ loser.
Curveball
Are you really worried about being listed as an “R” rated site, PJ? Because I really like the word f**k. I feel like the tv version of Repo Man where they replace f**k and even fag with freakin’. “John Wayne was a freak”. Somehow, doesn’t have the same ring.
I’m suspending posting
