I haven’t looked at the post-debate reviews yet, but I have to say that last night was a lot like the first Obama/McCain debate. For what Palin is, she did very well. But there’s really nothing there, and we saw a big piece of dryer lint next to a guy who obviously knows a lot of stuff, and who isn’t a lightweight loser. A clear choice, IMHO. Plus Biden did a good job of kicking the crap out of McCain while more or less politely treating Palin as the insignificant pile of moose droppings that she is.
Mostly, though, last night doesn’t matter. Nobody did anything stupid – let alone noteworthy – and in a day nobody will remember any of it as we focus our attention to the second Prez debate. For which, of course, we’ll have a chat set up to get us all through.
Now, let’s get this week over with already.
Rays 6
White Sux 4

Tropicana Field used to be a ghost town. These days, it’s a lot rowdier when it’s stuffed full of 35,000 screaming Rays fans.
But on to the debate.
“John McCain knows how to win a war?”
:fu:
1) It’s not a war, it’s an occupation. And you can’t win an occupation. You can END an occupation. But McCain doesn’t want to.
2) He couldn’t win the war that he FOUGHT in, let alone the two wars we’re in now and the several more he’s itching to start.
3) If he knows how to win a war, why isn’t he telling Bush and Cheney how to do it? If he knows and isn’t telling them, isn’t that treason?
4) Who the hell thinks Sarah Palin is hot? I don’t get this. Personally, if I had to choose, I would have been chasing Gwen Ifill. Of course, it helps that she broke an ankle earlier this week and I wouldn’t have had to chase her very far. 😀
Off to work. RAYS RULE!!!!
Thanks to the chatroom, I made it through the debate and my TV does not have a huge hole in it.
Palin was obviously well trained, but she was still Palin. This should be thought provoking for all the education reformers who think that teaching is the thing that makes the difference. Teaching helps, but in the end the student is the most important variable.
John McInane has crystallized for me into John the craps shooter. He has run his campaign by rolling the dice. Apparently he is on a losing streak.
Is EVERYONE nursing a hangover today? :yuck:
Gawd!
i’m soooo glad i’m not married to palin!
You’d have to kill her, Jim. My dad said that to me once when I was incredibly angry at my step monster.
Congratulations, your elected representatives have just handed over a big chunk of your money to the corrupt and incompetent Wall Street fat cats.
Feel free to take the rest of the day off.
I’m getting more NYtimes alerts about the economy in my email than from people I actually know… I guess that’s not saying much.
Reminds me of Druid.
So, was there an MvS today? ‘Cuz where I was at, I got nothing.
Someone forgot to plug-in the computers, I guess.
😡 how do i embed vids and how do i get a little picture after my post?
Hey, Sean. Go to Gravatar.com and register with the e-mail address you used when you registered here (you can also change your e-mail address for here, by the way, by going into your profile and changing your e-mail address. Then you can use the new address when you register with Gravatar). Then follow the instructions to upload a picture. Your avatar will show up next to your posts within about 10 minutes or so.
embedding youtube vids?
Travis- the “Obama Whore” vid froze my computer up. Never opened.
pj- you probably already knew this but yeah, there was a program. I watched it. The usual tech problems in the beginning w/marc in SF.
I didn’t watch any of the videos. I was just thinking strictly about the title of the blog, Art.
Sean, it’s as simple as cut and paste. Sometimes you’ll have to surround the embed code with code tags from here in the MS blog comment box.
Howdy from Cambridge Mass.
This place is hoppin’ :knit:
Ok so I listened to all of the podcasts here on the plane today to try to understand the woeful economic news.
Great follow up stuff to The Giant Pool of Money episode of ThisAmericanLife.
I wonder if Sam or Marc have listened to this stuff?
Wow, so, I just had an interesting evening. As I was coming home from the grocery store, I was following a car and noticed something hanging out the trunk of the car. It looked like hair, but it could have been rafia or twine, so I tailgated to try to see what it was. It definitely looked like hair, blond and somewhat dreaded, braided. I thought it could be one of those hair attachments you can get at any store. I was following on McDowell and the car turned left at 12th st so I followed so I could get the license plate and make of the car. It was a Sebring, silver or gray. I had to turn on Palm to get home and it continued on 12th st. towards Thomas. I decided I would call the police and have them check it out, just in case it was a person in the trunk. They just called me back and the officer checking it out asked me what I saw. As I was describing what I saw he yelled at someone to get down. He said he was still looking for the owner of the car. Holy crap. 😯
victory!!!!!
This place is mildly sopping. :crap: :knit2:
(Is it really victory without the gravatar, Sean?)
OMG Kristapea!
What happened? Will the cops ever tell you, or do you have any
reporter friends who would know?
