Not much going on around here today. Mercifully, SU has a bye week, so I won’t have to suffer through another loss. I do need to get the grass cut, though – probably for the last time this season. It’s getting a little chilly around here lately, which is fine by me. I reckon I need to get the pellet stove ready for operation, though we don’t have a heck of a lot of pellets left over from last year, and missed out on several chances to get good deals from our supplier. The thought of hauling 4 or 6 thousand pounds of pellets from the garage to the basement doesn’t really seem all that appealing to me right now anyway.
All this Wall St. stuff and state budget cuts are screwing up my plans to transfer to a different job. They’ve gone from a 120-day lag in hiring to an outright freeze as our campus has just been handed another $5.5 million in cuts to absorb. Even though I’m just looking for a lateral move, I’m stuck at where I am for the foreseeable future. I guess I need to shine up the old resume and put some energy into a new direction.
I’m getting a little old for this shit, though, so I think I start out with the more modest goal of getting the grass cut, and see how it goes from there.
Have a good Saturday.
I am off to babysit for my granddaughter who lives in an area I call upstate even though PJ scoffs at that designation. It’s 1 1/2 hours north of Brooklyn, so it can’t be downstate.
I’ve been thinking about Sarah Barracuda and I’ve decided she reminds me of the pretty cheerleader in high school who thought being pretty and flirty was all she’d ever need to get by, (wink, wink). Being dopey was a plus as the boys, supposedly, didn’t like girls with smarts. That is probably true of Rethug boys, whose own smarts are not usually apparent.
Colette, I called this morn to see if I could find out but they wouldn’t say anything. He said that the officer may call back for follow up.
What is it called when you call people and they don’t answer their phone when you call, and they probably know that you know they know it’s you? Screening, filtering or chopped liver? There’s a phrase for that right?
for some reason
that wink reminds me of
boat diesel applications and crotch crickets.
i think it’s one of those moments i’ve fortunately forgotten
Maybe they aren’t home? In another time zone? :knit:
Screening!
Krista, maybe private investigation should be your new line of work. You could spend time sculpting, painting or drawing during stakeouts. 😀
KP, you should give Allison DuBois a call, and see if she can tell you what’s up.
I find Sarah Palin’s latest campaign rhetoric offensive. First, she should take down that Country First bumper sticker on her podium and replace it with something closer to the truth – Party Above All Else.
My entire life the GOP – Greedy Old Party – has not been for country, ever. They have been and still are the party of rich, white males, the party of big business, the party waging class warfare against everyone who won’t pony up huge campaign contributions. The Republican Party and their raunchy-right media water carriers have done more damage to the United States than all the terrorists and all our foreign wars combined. They have destroyed our court system, our education system and now our economy.
Sarah Palin, and you too John McCain, are the worst nightmare our staggering country could ever endure, except maybe another fraudulent George Bush election win.
Woah! So that guy S. Spoonemore IS my friends’ older, very very smart brother. I talked to my friend today and he said his brother is a total GOP Republican hack that would lie to his own family if he thought he could make a buck off of it. He said he’s been into everything from the CIA, Haliburton you name it. He didn’t have much nice to say about him except that he’s super smart. This just totally blows my mind. I wanted to talk to him some more but I was canvassing. I’m gonna call him later or tomorrow and see if he thinks his brother could really have a change of heart or if he’s playing some GOP trick or what! :tinfoil: :tinfoil: :tinfoil: :tinfoil:
KP, holy crap!!
I hear you PJ, we had a team meeiting at work yesterday and I’m staring at layoffs in my department.
Thank god it’s Saturday. If I had to go to work tomorrow, I’d be pissed.
Nice gravitar PJ. :smack: I think this country is fucked.
Patience, steel, triumph.
