So, looks like the Obama campaign is about to launch a little push back.
Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) on Monday is launching a multimedia campaign to draw attention to the involvement of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) in the “Keating Five†savings-and-loan scandal of 1989-91, which blemished McCain’s public image and set him on his course as a self-styled reformer.
Pushing back against what it calls McCain’s “guilt-by-association†tactics, the Obama campaign overnight began e-mailing millions of supporters a link to a website, KeatingEconomics.com, which will have a 13-minute documentary on the scandal beginning at noon Eastern time on Monday.
I don’t know if this is a good idea or not. Not because it isn’t relevant to what’s going on these days, but because it may be a little too complication for “Joe Sixpack” to understand. You have to admit, “Obama hangs with terrorists” is a much simpler concept to grasp (and anybody with a brain already knows that McCain/Palin is a disaster of biblical proportions – so to speak – in the making).
To try and explain it all to the unwashed masses, the campaign has a website – KeatingEconomics.com – which will have a 13-minute documentary on the scandal beginning at noon Eastern time today.
Here’s a preview:
I don’t understand the strategy either. Seems like there’s so much to nail him with just about his staff and advisors all of whom are lobbyists for the very corporate masters who are raping our financial future.
Kristapea- that is so sad about your Doctor. He sounded like a true healer. :gate:
Discussion of the Keating 5 may knock McLame off his message. It should be interesting to see what Palin, who can’t keep her facts straight, will say about it.
The sky is just lightening, the sun isn’t up yet, and I am dressed and off to work.
Hey, if anybody out there knows any older McCain/Palin groupies, ask them what they think about this:
I had the strangest night. I literally felt like I was tripping and I only had some wine, and not even that much. I had waking dreams and all sorts of bits of phrases and sentences going through my ears, and felt completely disoriented. Really weird. :billcat:
Make-Believe Maverick
On the grounds between the two brick colleges, the chitchat between the scion of four-star admirals and the son of a prizefighter turns to their academic travels; both colleges sponsor a trip abroad for young officers to network with military and political leaders in a distant corner of the globe.
“I’m going to the Middle East,” Dramesi says. “Turkey, Kuwait, Lebanon, Iran.”
“Why are you going to the Middle East?” McCain asks, dismissively.
“It’s a place we’re probably going to have some problems,” Dramesi says.
“Why? Where are you going to, John?”
“Oh, I’m going to Rio.”
“What the hell are you going to Rio for?”
McCain, a married father of three, shrugs.
“I got a better chance of getting laid.”
Dramesi, who went on to serve as chief war planner for U.S. Air Forces in Europe and commander of a wing of the Strategic Air Command, was not surprised. “McCain says his life changed while he was in Vietnam, and he is now a different man,” Dramesi says today. “But he’s still the undisciplined, spoiled brat that he was when he went in.”
Anybody care?

US presidential hopeful John McCain was prone to mistakes during his time as a Navy pilot, and if today’s standards were applied, his career may have ended in a hard landing, according to a report Monday by The Los Angeles Times.

Golly, the Dow’s down over 500 points so far today – under 10,000 for the first time in 4 years. We better get Congress to give them more of our money.
Ugh, I feel sick. It’s not because of the dow either. :barf:
Down 732 now. Everybody get your checkbooks out.
You forgot about pulling your pants down and bending over, PJ. :smack:
The Keating 5 and John McShame\
Ooh, the market is starting to rally (everybody picking up bargains, no doubt). Only down 670 or so.
Looks like more technical difficulties again today. At least where I’m at.
It was working pretty well for a couple minutes there, though. Ah, back again.
Did the fucking thing just die?
Idiots. I quit being an apologist. This is total fucking horseshit.
Well, it may be tough to get people to pay for this, if they can’t get it to work more consistently. And even when it works, it has freezes and hiccups. At least where I’m at.
Don’t know it is even supposed to be a payfer. If it is, they can go fuck themselves in several more ways and it still won’t work. They have fucked this up in more ways than the Kama Sutra.
Oh, man. I wanted to hear what Sheldon had to say. 😡
Oh baby, what a rally! The Dow’s back over 10,000. John McCain must be in NYC working things out.
I’ve heard that John McCain suspended his campaign for Joe Biden’s Mother-in-law.
The subject of Palin’s son, Trig, came up in my math class today. Imagine that.
Dow closed under 10,000, down 370 points.
Sam’s broker, Sheldon, said everything was fine. He was certainly fine, talking from a golf clubhouse in the Caiman Islands.
Tomorrow night’s debate should be quite a nerve jangling spectacle. :40: :40:
Here it is, I spent some time yesterday making some stupid comedy stuff

Olbermann was in rare form tonight. I missed most of the first half of the show due to the ballgame running long (RAYS IN THE ALCS!!!!!!), but he did a Special Comment on Caribou Barbie during the last 15 minutes of the show that is well worth catching in one of the reruns if you haven’t seen it.
I felt a little guilty channel-surfing between Countdown and the game, but if anyone would understand it would be KO. 😀
