Ordinarily, I wouldn’t be quite so bummed about going to work today, ‘cuz I’m supposed to be at my favorite location. Unfortunately, I have to attend some stupid training on some crap I have no interest in, and really have nothing to do with. Not just today, but tomorrow and Wednesday as well. This really blows, but that’s life, I guess. Beats being a redneck republican plumber in Ohio.
It’s Monday. It’s back to work . Hiho hiho!
The NY Times is looking at questions bout McCain’s health. No surprise there. I’ll read it on the way to work. But this surpried me:
Meanwhile, “Nothing is known publicly about Ms. Palin’s medical history,” Altman reports, “aside from the much-discussed circumstances surrounding the birth of her fifth child last April. Ms. Palin has said that her water broke while she was at a conference in Dallas and that she flew to Anchorage, where she gave birth to her son Trig hours after landing.
Palin refused to release her medical records or to be interviewed.

Also from the NY Times…
Nobel Prize winning Paul Krugman writes
The Real Plumbers of Ohio
Amazing how Nixon keeps coming back to haunt us.
And there you have it, the worst possible World Series match-up for the network but I love it. I might even watch now.

Hey, it could be worse. The NL team could be the Brewers rather than the Phillies. Milwaukee vs. Tampa Bay would be enough to make any Fox exec jump out the nearest window.
I honestly didn’t think the Rays would pull it out until they gutted their way out of the 6th inning and threw out Pedroia at second. Not to mention the relief-by-committee stuff in the 8th. Damn.
If I’m not posting early Thursday and Friday, this would be why. Sleep deprivation is coming on and I can’t wait!
Catching up…
Farmerkat, thanks for the Bonds story and the Mr. F’kat news. I had heard something on a sports talker about MLB and the union about delaying action in this matter, probably to kick it into the off-season. I doubt Barry will get $110M but if he even gets 10 % of that I would be happy. Nothing warms my heart more that seeing those owners losing another one.
KebM, I am doing you a favor. Today, I am a Phillie Phan.
soughP, I did one of my big term papers in HS about McCarthy in the late ’60s. I am horrified that his spirit has returned in even fuller flame. Someone wrote a song about it, goes something like this.
Oh, is that whole baseball thing still going on? At least the Red Sox are out. Hopefully the Patriots will continue to suck too.
Yeah, it’s a good thing for those who’s football seasons are already over.
Here, it’s basketball season.
pj- Carmelo was talking about coming back to Syracuse for an exibition game. Has that happened yet? did you watch?
Here I think they are already writing off the Warriors. Dunno about the college teams yet.
‘Mr. Blackwell’
“Mr. Blackwell,” whose annual “worst dressed” list dinged movie stars, music icons and European royalty and helped turn him into a household name from the 1960s through the ’80s, has died. He was 86.
Blackwell had been in failing health and died Sunday afternoon at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles of complications from an intestinal infection, according to publicist Harlan Boll.
:rant1: :gate:
Yeah, Denver played Phoenix here on Friday night (they won, 94-91, FWIW). They had over 22,000 people, but I wasn’t one of them. Of course, everybody was happy to see ‘Melo. I guess he stopped by to see how construction of the Carmelo Anthony Basketball Center is going (he donated $3 million for it).
Here, it’s basketball season.
Go Heels!
For those of you who missed last nights Family Guy.
I’m sure Michele Bachman would think that McCarthy is one of the pro-americans. McCarthy certainly agreed with his house committee on un-american activities which destroyed the lives and livelihoods of a lot of decent people.
It seems these truly un-american Rethugs have been spewing their poison for a very long time.
But, if you need a respite from all this ugliness, Lincoln has some great pictures, today.

Vern, the 4 letters, ough, give kids no end of trouble because they have so many different sounds:
rough (uff)
cough (off)
through (oo)
thorough (oa)
bough (ou)
I believe there are 2 other permutations, but I can’t think of them now (nough?)
The only other one I can think of is ‘aw’ (as in thought).
did Syracuse change those hideous orange uniforms, pj? man, who could win wearing those outfits? You’ve got to feel good about your team if you want to win.
Don’t know if you all have seen this (a bit long) but man, my brain is hurting…..
F’kat, I was going to try to connect the Mr Blackwell story to athletic wear of a certain Orange team not the SF Giants but did not want to seem like I was piling on.
Is your link supposed to be an REM YouTube?
OOPS!!!

Wow, that kind of hurt my brain, too. Back to R.E.M. and hopefully sleep.
