Oh, those poor, poor Republicans. Seems they don’t approve of Rahmbo being Obama’s Chief of Staff.
“Barack Obama’s first decision as president-elect undermines his promise to ‘heal the divides,’ ” said Alex Conant, a spokesman for the Republican National Committee. “Rahm Emanuel is a partisan insider who played a lead role in breaking Washington. … Our nation will be ill-served if Obama runs the White House the way ‘Rahmbo’ ran the Democratic Congress.”
What a shame. He really ought to appoint only Republicans to his staff and cabinet. After all, there’ll be a lot of them out of work in a couple of months.
The Rahmbo appointment pissed off Boehner, which immediately made me like it. But then Lindsey Graham had nice things to say about Rahmbo, which confused me. Apparently the Repiglican Party is in more disarray than I thought.
Just as Keith Olbermann decided the first night after the election that nothing that any rightwing assclown pundit says means anything, nothing that the RNC says has to be paid any attention to.
Oh, I just love the irony is all. It’s why I buy Kosher sauerkraut.
Oh, there’s plenty of criticism from the left because he’s too much DLC.
Meanwhile, here’s a buzzkill from Naomi Klein about bush’s final pillage

There is speculation that all is not right in the great state of Alaska (aside from Sarah the shoplifter).
Wierd occurance #1:
Voter turnout in the primaries was up 12%, but overall turnout was down 11%.
Wierd occurance #2:
Alaska has red and blue areas. Therefore as returns come in they should reflect that by showing, in turn, higher percentages for McCain or Obama. But…
With 36% of the precincts reporting:
61.76% for McCain
35.64% for Obama
With 81.3% reporting
61.54% for McCain
35.69% for Obama
With 96.1% reporting
61.29% for McCain
35.96% for Obama
Wierd occrance #3:
Pre-election polls had Begich ahead of Stevens by 22 points and Berkowitz led Young by 5-14 points in every poll taken between May and November. And yet Young and Stevens are beating their Democratic opponents.
Not so wierd occurance #4:
This ain’t the first time!

Okay, I just organized my thoughts for this interview for this really cool opportunity to run an organic green house. If anyone has any advice or suggestions I would love to hear them. This job is a little over my head and I’ve been doing a lot of research. I lack business experience and sales experience but have plenty of ideas for growing. It’s a salaried position and I’ve never been paid like that before. I was thinking of asking for $34,000-$36,000 per year and agreeing on a commision structure and keeping track and when I surpass my salary from sales I would switch to commision.. How does that sound?
Is that too much? 😕
I think you should ask for salary (a good floor guaranteed income) and commission or performance incentive bonus structure on top of that to start. That way if it is a slow build, you are ‘safe’ and are still incentivised.
It sounds like this company sees something in you that made them seek you out so I would not necessarily sweat the ‘inexperience’ part.
Good luck!
Good luck, KP!
From Don Siegelman:
While in the comfort of our new found hope following last night’s stunning victory, let us not forget who brought us to the point of our political rebellion. Let us not forget the ones who subverted our democracy by falsely leading our country into war, stealing elections and using the Department of Justice as their own political weapon.
It is so interesting to watch Karl Rove now. You never hear him claim credit anymore for being the “genius” behind George W. Bush.
Today, Rove is trying as hard as possible to distance himself from the Bush administration.
Not one major media source has laid the election blame on Rove.
The Republicans have taken a fall for Rove. Fortunately though, they leave him on Fox as a symbol to remind us why we are so angry and why this administration is in the tank.
Now that there has been a political train wreck the Republicans will do an investigation to find out what happened and find that Rove steered the train off the tracks.
We need to encourage the Republicans to now take the lead in holding Rove in Contempt!
Over at LTR…
Some AA talk with CEO and the annual talk show host poll. Can I just vote for Maron 10 times? Damn, mine is the only vote he’s gotten so far. Farias is doing well.
Good luck, KP.
I’ve voted for Maron several times already, including a couple of times yesterday.
A nice little story about our next VP’s time here.
Good luck Krista! I don’t know what the prevailing wage is for something like that out there, but if if it’s too low they might think your unqualified. I like Vern’s idea a reasonable base so you don’t starve plus commission.
Good Luck KP
It only showed one vote after I voted. Do you have an e-mail address fro Bad Friedman or Mark Crispin Miller?
I see, when you click on the one it actually shows 113. The 13 is white on white.
How can I vote multiple times? I’ve refreshed and rebooted- still showing results. (I couldn’t find 10 to vote for). Malloy must have a pretty big fan base.
They won’t admit it but what the right-wingers really hate about all the Clintonistas coming back is they are competent. The Bush administration didn’t seem to have many of those.
And now Tony Perkins is preaching to the GOP to bring back Reaganism. No one sent him the memo that the Reagan policies exploded an entire global economy. I think Perkins just wants to bring back the hatred Reagan could put into his pronounciation of the word “liberal.” I for one thing the word has a nice ring to it.
I guess I missed the biggest Broncos game since “The Drive” when Elway beat the Browns back in the day…, but what I really missed is Brandon Marshall starting to pull out a white/black glove after a touchdown in honor of ‘Bama. I guess it’s a huge fucking deal because two of his teammates surrounded him in the endzone so the refs wouldn’t give us a 15 yard penalty. He was allowed by massa’ to read a statement after the game in the locker room. The local yokel sports guy wondered why the black man can’t just spike the ball after a touchdown.
Can’t these darkies be satisfied that we’ve given them a job?
Thank god we were spared any sort of political statement being made on the hallowed ground of a pro football field.
Oh, and thank god racism is gone forever
mornin gang!
me an Sean had a great meet up after threading that semi through the Abbotsford needle.
he was delighted to see i had the election issue of the Vancouver sun for him to read.
we had hi octane coffee, double smoked salmon and grilled cheese on rye sammitches.
the dogs assisited and fun was had by all. only had a few hours to yak, he had to get going and was worried about snow in the mountains on the way to Kelowna.
Good luck Krista!
Always like trying to figure out who Sean is driving for. I got this one. Thanks, SJ.
‘Bama’s first press conference@ 2:30pm EST.
Some day soon I’ll get over the novelty of a President-elect carrying around a huge bulging briefcase like he’s got important stuff to do followed by a first lady elect in a baseball cap with no make-up in jogging pants- but for now, I’ll relish it.
Mornin’ Jim
On the outskirts of creation, unknown, unseen “structures” are tugging on our universe like cosmic magnets, a controversial new study says.
Everything in the known universe is said to be racing toward the massive clumps of matter at more than 2 million miles (3.2 million kilometers) an hour—a movement the researchers have dubbed dark flow.
The presence of the extra-universal matter suggests that our universe is part of something bigger—a multiverse—and that whatever is out there is very different from the universe we know, according to study leader Alexander Kashlinsky, an astrophysicist at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland.

For years, Shelter Island has been a bastion of Repulicans. This year Obama won 838 votes to McCain’s 667. And, while many Obama signs disappeared, mine is still standing!
John Leonard: Feb 5th, 1939 – Nov 5th, 2008 :gate:
I looked forward to his reviews of books and movies on CBS Sunday Morning for years. His literate appeals to higher intelligence were little works of art by themselves.

Okay, back from interview #1. I guess there are 2 more :smack: but I think I did well. But now I have to clean up a bit because the landlord is in town and is stopping by! :omg: He seems like a nice guy, so it’s no big deal.
Great KP! If salary didn’t come up this time, next time, ask them their range first. Once you have the range, go to the top or near the top in your offer.
Oh.. the Prez Elect….
At least they’re recycling!
The thugs are harping that the Chief of Staff is {{GASP}} Jewish :sdavid: and he’ll be just so, oh, excessively Jewish. We’re they complaining that O was a :cres: terrorist who was a threat to Israel? Didn’t Joe the not-plumber say O was a threat to Israel? Man, these guys can’t get it straight.

Just got my grade from my last test. Not surprisingly it isn’t an A but somewhere in the mid 80s.
B’s are quite respectable, Travis. Good going!
From Obama’s presser today:
Thank you Sue. :bee:
Art you’re 100% correct and 0% incorrect about John Leonard.
Krista, how did the interview go?
A double-negative sentence and an unneeded ly added to surprising. I’d give that sentence a low B. I really do need to take some writing classes.
sheeple does this periodically so thought I’d give it a whirl!
Good job, Trav. I could never had done it if it is like that youtube you posted.
Travis, your sentence is perfectly fine. It would be a double negative if the negatives referred to the same thing, i.e. It wasn’t no A, but something in between. Not surprisingly is a phrase and everything in that phrase refers only to the phrase grammatically. So the not only modifies surprisingly.
You explained that pretty well, Sue. I don’t know why I was confused. It was a long day today, I guess.
