Today on Press the Meat, Carl Levin and Dick Shelby battle over a potential bailout of the auto industry, and supposdely reformed oilman T. Boone Pickens is on to talk energy independence. Then the topic turns to the economy and the failed Obama administration with Tom “my head is flat” Friedman, BBC America’s Katty Kay, Mrs. Alan Greenspan, Andrea Mitchell & PBS’s Tavis Smiley.
On Faze the Nation, Bob Schieffer trots out Dick Shelby again, along with the always fun Barney Frank, Louisiana’s Republican governer, Bobby Jindal, and Newt “aint this guy dead yet” Gingrich. Why?
At Fux News Sunday, Weaselface Wallace hosts Arizona Senator Krazy Jon Kyl, Byron Dorgan, Gov Tim “asshole” Pawlenty of MN, and the Republican’s token black guy, Michael Steele. Plus the usual fuxheads, of course.
On the Goebbels network, it’s an eggskloosiff, mit der Governator, Ahnuld Schwarzenegger. Plus Nobel Prize winning economist Paul Krugman meets the axis of drivel (Sam :okg: Donaldson, Cokie “the hag” Roberts, George :jerk: Will) at the roundtable.
CNN’s Late Edition probably has guests, too. I just don’t know who they are.
Later, on 60 Minutes, Steve Kroft devotes the whole show to the first post-election interview of the 44th President of the United States, Barack Obama (and Michelle, too).
Half of November already shot to hell. It’ll be time for the New Year’s Eve Twilight Zone Marathon before you know it.
Have a good Sunday everybody.
Thomas Friedman’s World Is Flat Broke
:knit2: 🙁
and thanks to all for allowing me to observe my demi-birthday yesterday in the quiet dignity which I prefer.
Can 65 days get any longer?
:tap: :pup:
Hubby does not avail himself of PJ’s Sunday talking heads line-up, made the mistake of tuning in to one of them. According to him, the Rethugs do not want to bail out the auto industry unless the industry is forced to negotiate those union contracts.
I’ve recently heard at least one Rethug decry the terribly high salaries of the auto workers…not, of course, the CEO’s.
So in Rehug bizarro world, the way out of this downturn, in a consumer dependent economy, is to take money OUT f the hands of consumers. Apparently Rethug capitalism requires a hands off approach ONLY for management.
:cake: Happy Belated, Vern!
Cute pooch, KP! Anna, Amelia, Betty, Lola, Helen, Tammy, Lily, Lila, Merry, Lena, Viola, ok, I’m tapped out…not all double consonants, but consonants somewhere in the middle.
What did the doc say about Nellie?
What was happening in America in the last half of the 1800’s? I ask because between Lily Dale, Christian Scientists and Unity (the Filmores), and I think several others, were born around that time. There were a lot of changes – “awakenings” – in spirituality and “religion” in this country.
I ask a bit tongue-in-cheek because the times they were a changin back then. racism, civil war, depression, jim crow, dred scott, wounded knee, voting rights (for blacks not women), very tumultuous times. And look at now……
Well, The doc couldn’t get a urine sample because Sheree had just let her pee before she got there cuz it was such a long road trip. So, the doc gave her some pills, cephalexin, which is a guess and won’t hurt her to take them.
I am fairly certain I am settling on Lottie for the new girl. Nellie is starting to get used to her, they were laying a few feet apart in the same position. It’s funny how pets do that. Sometimes it’s a mirror image and sometimes it’s the same direction. Nellie still gives her the Elvis lip curl though.
Well of course it’s the unions’ fault. Do any of them talk about how much of the cost of each car is wrapped up in health care costs? Car manufacturers in other countries don’t necessarily have to bear that burden. Why is it that businesses are not more vocal about health care reform that would lower their costs?
And what the fook is a ‘Sam’s Club voter’? Is Luntz on vacation or something?
Thanks, 49er! I almost forgot it myself but you don’t turn ##-1/2 everyday.
I heard Mrs. Greenspan actually blame the unions in back-handed fashion for Detroit’s meltdown. Christ she’s a slut!
Oh and Happy B’day vern.
Happy B-day, Vern! :cake:

Oh, thankyou Jim! I need all the help I can get! :pup: 😀
Happy halfway b’day, Vernon. How’s it feel to be 39½?
Here’s a chilling thought for those of us who live in NY (especially with the load of crap the current Governor has inherited – thanks to George Pataki – that’s not winning him many friends):
Peet’s thinks that Apple’s discussion forum is a pornography site when I type “repair permissions”. Geez…
Hi Ya’ll and a special happy :cake: :cake: birthday to vernon :knit:
Is it cold enough for a hat yet? :knit:
I had a dream about Obama this morning. Takes me back to when Clinton was elected :hot:
I remember my friend greg had a dream that Clinton asked him to serve in his cabinet.
:cake: :cake: Vernon! :dancers:
Happy 1/2 birthday, Vern. My little granddaughter announced recently that she is 6 1/2 and therefore due a gift with wrapping.
 :cake:
The Rethugs should make use of Jindal’s ability to cast out demons. Although, on second thought, that my leave them with very few members.
PJ, the thought of that grinning ego maniacal jerk as the governor is too horrible to contemplate. I wonder how much support he would have. But, it might be fun to watch Judi misuse the police.
Actually, if history foreshadows the future, he should be about ready for another clandestine romance. The trade towers are gone so he’ll have to select some other inappropriate place for his trysts.

Two more posts and I pass isi. There, that should do it. Not that I’m feeling competitive or anything.

10 days that shook S.F.
First of Three Parts
Thirty years ago, two unimaginable tragedies jolted San Francisco in less than a fortnight.
On Nov. 18, 1978, more than 900 men, women and children – many of them poor African Americans from San Francisco – died after drinking a cyanide-laced potion in Peoples Temple founder Jim Jones’ compound in the jungles of Guyana.
Then, while San Francisco struggled to grasp the enormity of that tragedy, on Nov. 27 a fiercely conservative ex-supervisor named Dan White assassinated Mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk, one of the nation’s few openly gay politicians.
30 years after, the legacy of Jonestown
Photos: Jonestown
A look back at Jonestown 30 years after more than 900 members of Rev. Jim Jones’ Peoples Temple perished in a South American jungle.
After the assassination of Mayor Moscone, Diane Feinstein assumed the office and saved the city. That is one of several reasons I cannot share all of the hatred for her even though I often have significant policy differences.
At MvS, under the heading Meta Meet Meta is audio of an interview of Marc and Sam that Richard Green did on Clout

I vaguely remember Jonestown because we had just arrived in Wisconsin to visit family for Thanksgiving. I was very young and only payed attention because that was the buzz.
Yay! Nellie and Lottie played together tonight! :pup: :pup: Less than 24 hours after her arrival, they had a great play session and now they are pooped and resting at my feet.

Nice looking dogs, KP, especially the front ends.
