So I completed the Obama administration employment “long form” yesterday. Now the ball is in their court. They did advise me that they were focusing on senior positions first, and to not exactly hold my breath waiting to hear back. I’m hoping for something that will allow me to be involved in making Federal Telecom policy. Me and every other swingin’ Ethernet cable out there, no doubt.
Pending my appointment, I guess I’ll have to drag my ass out into the cold and go to work. Whoopdie-doo.
Me too, gotta go brave the cold to go to work. But, it’s better than braving the cold and NOT going to work. My boss says the school system is facing budget cuts that may affect the program in which I teach. We shall see.
Nice that Begich won.
I wrote to Sen. Reid and quoted that jerk who was happy that the left had no influence. Just old him to talk my name off the donors’ list.
Have a good one, cold or otherwise.
Ted Stevens’ career in the Senate is down the tubes.
Or, more appropriately, a series of tubes.

Holy crap. I was just looking on Craigslist for work and the Skilled trade/crafts and general labor sections are pretty slim. They usually have 2-4 pages for one day and it’s down to less than 15-20 postings per day. 😯 Still waiting on the green house job but I stopped by there yesterday to show them the popcorn sprouts I grew and they have a kick off date of Dec 15. So, I guess I’ll know by then. :cat:
Sounds like a Republican. I wonder if he gets Limbaugh in his cave?
That’s OK. If the guy is #2 Al Qaeda, he doesn’t have long to live anyway.
:rofl2:
I think al-Zawahri is actually the real brains of the operation. Osama is just the rich guy figurehead. Kinda like Dubya is to Cheney.
Or else al-Z is the Ralph Nadir of the group.
:crap: Happy World Toilet Day :crap:
Jeff Farias is on now and playing a little Tom Waits :alc:

Daschle at HHS gives me hope that we will get healthcare for everyone. If that happens it will make a significant improvement in the lives of Americans. Then, we’ll be able to expend more of our healthcare bucks on our pets.

I have been trying to understand the Chaney/ Gonzalez indictment in Texas. The news reports have been sketchy and have concentrated on the issue of the Justice Dept paying private attorneys to defend Gonzo.
I believe that Chaney is a partner in a private prison system in that state. Something illegal happened in the way prisoners were treated and that partnership is the basis of Chaney’s involvement. (Although it would be in keeping with his character, I don’t think Chaney did any of the actual abusing). Gonzo is charged with abusing the powers of his office to stop the investigation of the prisons.
Have I got this straight?
Although the Pentagon officially has welcomed the new accord on a U.S. troop withdrawal from Iraq, senior military officials are privately criticizing President Bush for giving Iraq more control over U.S. military operations for the next three years than the U.S. had ever contemplated.
snip
As part of the accord, which U.S. and Iraqi officials signed in Baghdad on Monday, Iraq will have potential authority over U.S. military operations, intelligence-gathering, cargo shipments and even the mail sent to American troops. Foreign contractors are subject to Iraqi law. On Jan. 1, Iraq will assume control of the U.S.-fortified Green Zone in Baghdad, and of the nation’s airspace.

Surgeons replaced the damaged windpipe of Claudia Castillo, a 30-year-old mother of two, with one created from stem cells grown in a laboratory at Bristol University.
Because the new windpipe was made from cells taken from Ms Castillo’s own body, using a process called “tissue engineering”, she has not needed powerful drugs to prevent her body rejecting the organ.

I can’t wait for my math class to be over and done with. There’s a test tomorrow on some pretty ugly material that will surely make for a horrendous morning.
Oh man, Good luck, Travis. :smack:
I’ve had a horrible back ache for the last few days. No idea what I did to tweak it so bad and I’ve been taking epsom salt baths and stretching in the bath and nothing has been even helping a little. Plus, my doctor is dead, so I can’t call him and I don’t know of any other doctor that would trade, so, I got out my old yoga book and went to the back where the remedies are and did the poses for a back ache and, OMG! :omg: It feels so much better! It’s not completely gone but I can stand up straight now and it’s only mildly annoying and i feel all open now! I did yoga almost every day between ’97-’02 and I can’t believe I can still touch the floor with the palms of my hands with straight legs! The benefit of yoga exercises last a lot longer than weight lifting. :pup:
KP…Which yoga books and exercises???..I seem to have the same pains caused by driving all over hell and back. It wakes me up in the middle of the night. 😐 Can’t wait to get back to my own tub and epsom salts.
Travis good luck! :knit2:
Oh… a heron flew up over the car today…always a good sign. :parrot:

i do bikrim yoga but haven’t lately – had the flu there for a bit….
Thanks everyone.
Here’s an old test problem that I’ve spent too much time trying to figure out tonight when I should have already been asleep.
A small box with a square bottom and no top is to be constructed out of materials costing three cents per square inch for the bottom, and only one cent per square inch for the sides. If the box contains a volume of 12 cubic inches, find the dimensions which minimize the cost of construction.
