A little on the nippy side here this morning (3°). We got a fair amount of snow yesterday, too, so everything’s nice and clean and white out there. Otherwise, I’m debating on whether I ought to call in sick today or not. I’m better than I was, but still a little under the weather. I could definitely use another day to sleep and play some Dead Space (great game, by the way; very creepy) once in a while. We’ll see, I guess. I’m not much for calling in, but I’d just as soon not suffer a relapse. Have a good one.
It’s quite nippy here in Brooklyn. Not 4 degrees, that goodness, but the hight is supposed to be 32. Freezing is NOT high. Ugh!. It’s back to work, though.
I’m glad you’re feeling better,PJ. To me, taking a sick day, is a wonderful feeling. Everyine goes to work and you get to stay home and watch TV…..and get paid.
Gee, if I hadn’t called in today, I’d have missed this Tom Brokaw stroke-fest on the Today Show. If I hadn’t felt sick before, I sure do now. :yuck:
If you were feeling better when you woke up you must have missed the David Gregory humble-pie “I owe everything” to Tim Russert leg-hump yesterday on the NBC evening news that probably got more minutes than 1/2 million out of work, Obama on the same show with Brokaw and anything happening overseas. :barf:
Yeah, it’s pretty rare that I catch any of the network broadcast news shows. I like the dorks on my local NBC affiliate in the morning (they seem to be the goofiest, and I get a kick out of them), so I often catch the first few minutes of the Today Show before I resign myself to getting my ass off the couch and getting ready for work. I don’t usually get much beyond the first ten minutes, though.
Now they’re doing a hard-hitting expose, where they’re switching a family’s “name brand” products with generic to see if they notice. Oy. This is network news? This is even stupid for the lo-cal news.
Up next? Using dogs to find bed bugs….
More breaking news: you can save money with coupons.
New research shows that the chemicals used in some food wrapping, cosmetics, baby powders and flame retardants have been identified as “endocrine disrupters” because they interfere with hormones.
These “gender-benders,” as a new report calls them, can affect the male species in vertebrate animals, including baby human boys, who, when their mothers are exposed to widespread chemicals in pregnancy, are born with smaller penises and feminized genitals.

’twas downright warm in NJ, 19 degrees. It doesn’t feel much warmer inside with my leaky radiators, tho.
On the non-consumerist front: the economic slowdown is hurting recycling companies; the Chinese have stopped buying so much of our garbage because we’re buying less of thiers. We have to start buying up our own garbage! http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/08/business/08recycle.html
The times, they are a-changin’.
Rove sees a presidency clouded by the way it began.
“There were people who never accepted the legitimacy of George W. Bush and acted accordingly,†he said. […]
Also reserved for between the covers of Rove’s book is his checklist of the “great many of the political actors in this town (who) never accepted him as a legitimate president.â€
“I’ve got behind-the-scenes episodes that are going to show how unreceiving they were of this man as president of the United States,†Rove said, adding: “I’m going to name names and show examples.

I wish he would expand that list so that I, and all of you MSers, could be included.
A screech owl, some ducks and Palemale and Lola, of course!
I bet all those people would gladly admit not accepting Bush as president since everyone knows it was stolen from Gore.
Hey Travis. I’ve got a complicated math problem trying to figure out what the guest house electric bill is for the last year and 7 months. Wanna have at it?
Sure. If the problem is too complicated I’ll be sure to admit defeat early and yield to PJ for assistance. :santacool:
Okay, I’ve got to gather all the knowns for you. I’ll have it by tomorrow morning.
Oh, good. I have to study tonight for my final exam that’s tomorrow.
I hope there isn’t variable rates per kilowatt hour for different hours of the day or for different times of the year. :yuck:
Unfortunately, there is. :smack: But, I think the best way to deal with it might be a percentage.
i’m sure you’ve all seen this, but I’ll post anyway because i like it!
