The weird weather continues here. It’s supposed to be in the fifties today, and damn near sixty tomorrow. Otherwise, not much going on here, really. Except I hear the post-Christmas sales are outrageous. And here I already have everything I need. Oh well.

Report Criticizes Record Of Sheriff-Turned-TV Star
I awoke this morning to the urgings of cats, dogs and grand child, any one of which would have been sufficient. Santa has come and gone leaving behind his mound of wrapping paper, boxes and new things for which space must be found. And, of course new excuses for me to sing my throw it out song.
I read KP’s dog discipline problem but I can’t add any wisdom. It’s not that my dogs are so well behaved. They fight, but generally yelling at them works. Perhaps it is because the alpha around here is the cat, Clifford. He does a better job of keeping everyone in his/her place than I do.
Now, we await New Year and more impatiently January 20 when we will have a new preznit who reads AND thinks as well as exercises. Of course that leaves the Rethugs to find ways to complain and obstruct. Somehow these vaunted patriots never think of the good of country.
However, Chip Saltsman, leading candidate for RNC chair, has contributed to the general esteem in which I hold Rethugs by sending his colleagues copies of Barack the Magic Negro and other great selections.

For some reason, Simon and Garfunkel’s Silent Night-7 O’clock News comes to mind.
I kept Nellie in my room all night just in case. I really didn’t want to break up a fight in the middle of the night. When ever I’m reprimanding Lottie, Nellie has to come over and smell her poody and gets all nosey and dominant. It’s like she wants to add to the punishment. I try to shove Nellie away when I’m reprimanding Lottie and she keeps coming back. Maybe that’s where the word dogpile comes from. When Lottie snatched the fudge off my desk last night, I saw her do it and I grabbed her and stuck my hand down her throat to try to get the fudge out. That’s when Nellie must have come over and maybe nipped at her and then Lottie probably felt out numbered and retaliated. After my hand got bit I threw the hassock in between them and grabbed Lottie and kicked Nellie away as I was trying to drag her outdoors. The stupid door was locked and I had to get the key and unlock it while holding on to Lottie and kicking Nellie away. Cripes! Children! :smack: :spank: Nellie knew how pissed I was at her all evening so, I hope that made an impression but I doubt it. Nellie gets very single minded when she’s being possessive.

Karl Rove wrote that, I’m sure it’s a lie. He’s trying to save Chimpie’s legacy any way he can because he is inextricably tied to it. I want to see a book report on each book written in Chimpie’s own hand.
OK, I stole it from C&L because ShoeP impugned W’s literacy bona fides.
Karl Rove: Bush’s Books

I am sure it’s all true. I’m sure.
That 23% must be comedians and talk show hosts.
Vern, note that Karl and Chimpy never discussed the books. They counted them, and when that was not edifying enough, they counted pages. I can confidently say, as someone who has taught first graders who cannot read, that they look at reading books in the same way.
Wow! So, today is the grand opening of light rail here in Phoenix. It’s free til 3 am New Years Day. There’s parties all along the route today.
And I made some good contacts for my new job at the green house today, also. All the years I’ve lived here and all the people I know here is really paying off. I stopped by Stinkweeds record store and talked to the owner who, I’ve known since the late eighties. She started a group called Local First to promote the local economy and I talked to her about joining for my new job at Rhiba Farms. She told me about Local Food Day in the city where the green house is and told me who to contact and I know him too! It’s all falling into place, FINALLY!

went to visit a 107 year old family friend. She is awesome! But her caregiver informed me that there is no such thing as global warming, that emissions have nothing to do with the environment and that it’s all God’s doings anyway. I told her I disagree. She lashed out, “You don’t read the Bible!” I said, I do and I disagree. I wanted to say more, but you can’t even talk to folks like that.
Good heavens, how will we ever improve with people like that around? :billcat:
P.S. The Israelis have never heard the term, “proportionality.” If I was a Gazan, trapped, starving, no way to make a living, no medicines and watching my fellow Gazans disintegrating, I wonder what I would do?
P.P.S. Wasn’t Hamas democratically elected?
This is cool, if it’s actually is true.
very cool. this too:
Re: 12
Your 107 yer old friends’ caregiver will know global warming is happening when she’s knee deep in water!
Once again, go get ’em, Dan. Dan Rather Reports is one of the few actually worthwhile news shows out there on the teevee these days (HDNet World Report being one of the others). I don’t care if Mark Cuban was involved in insider trading or not. If he can support real news (in HD, no less), he gets a pass from me.
kp, she’ll think it’s God doing it anyway. Somehow “steward” doesn’t appear in her Bible. Did you get my email?
Pj, that’s interesting the Rather article is in a foreign publication. It’s mighty hard to fight the big news corporate giants. (we had to do it on a smaller scale and it was tough, but doable :fist: ) I admire Rather for having the fortitude to fight and the willingness to put his money into this litigation.
